One other issue Goldie said, do you want the special prisoners we are holding brought here and held with the others. Good idea Richard said, bring them all to the base where there are facilities to intern them all until a final decision is made as to their future. Alert your people we should be at your location in thirty minutes and will be coming in the main gate. Will do Mac said, our guards will show you where we are located.
Tim said I have Brian on the phone shall I advise him to have a detail bring the camp prisoners here. Goldie said yes have them brought here right away. He walked over to the enlisted men and said listen up. Those of you who have personal vehicles here in the base parking area fall in by the door. Nearly all the personnel lined up. He asked, how did the rest of you get here and most said their wives had dropped them off or they rode the bus from their quarters. He looked at the men lined up by the doors and said can you give these men a ride home and all responded they would.
Then so be it gentlemen, my men will escort you out to the parking area, you are to get into your vehicles, drive immediately off post. We mean you no harm however, you are not to try to reenter this base. To do so will subject you to injury or possible death, understood. He turned to Tim and said start moving them out.
After the enlisted airmen had been taken to the parking area Mac said there was no mention of this base on the networks. I guess we took over the command here before any had a chance to get the word out. But once these men get home the word will get out as to what happened here. One of the old squad members said sure would like to be there when the General finds out he lost this base and aircraft.
The old patriots sons were supervising the departure of the airmen from the base while Tim and his men were bringing the injured airmen from the hospital so they could be released to go home and the process was completed without incident. Just as the last of the airmen left a convoy of vehicles, trucks, busses, and van began arriving at the main gate. Goldie and the others met Richard and the Captain as they disembarked their vehicle. The old beret captain grinned and grabbed Goldies hand and said good job.
As the men began assembling in the parking area Goldie advised Richard that Tim and my sons will take your field commanders and their personnel over to the billeting area where they can stow away their gear. Then they will walk them thru their respective areas of the base that need to be secured. Their people will remain until your commanders have replaced them and are ready to take charge of the base.
While they are doing that I’ll have the base commander and his staff along with the united nations personnel moved to one of the billeting areas where we can secure them in individual rooms. Mac said I’ll take care of that for you and headed towards the command building. Soon he came back out with the guard detail escorting the command staff and the UN personnel. Goldie and the others followed as the prisoners were marched across the parking area towards the enlisted mens billets. Once inside Mac advised hold them here in the recreation room until we are ready to meet with them.
Moments later Brian and his men arrived with the prisoners from camp. Brian walked over to where Goldie and the others were waiting and asked where do you want them. Mac said I’ll go with you to get them and they walked back to the vehicles and Brian said ok remove the prisoners. First to be brought out was the bewildered looking madam president followed by the United Nations Secretary General then the Secretary of Defense, the presidents chief of staff and finally the Secretary of State.
Goldie looked at the president and others then said take them inside with the others we will meet you there shortly. After the prisoners had been led away Wilson said well with these and the others we have some leverage which we can use when we next talk to the generals. Richard who had been busy with a phone conversation for some time said well men it’s finished, both bases out west are under the control of our militia brothers. All three bases together with aircraft, munitions and supplies are now available if we need them. Now lets go meet with our guests.
Upon entering the building they found the prisoners all had been seated in folding chairs along one wall. Richard said well I see we have television lets turn it on and see what is being said about the events of this day. A government media spokesman was reporting that two air bases have fallen under the control of militia forces. These rebels now have aircraft and helicopters which can be used to cause further destruction across our land. No response has been received from the joint chiefs as to their plans to recover these bases.
There have been significant casualties suffered by army personnel who fought against overwhelming numbers to defend those bases. Militia forces released all the army personnel who survived but sent them away on foot with only enough vehicles to transport their dead and wounded back to their homes and the nearby army training camp. Another person was seen walking onto the broadcast stage and after a discussion the spokesman excitedly announced; It has just been learned that militia forces in Ohio have launched an attack against the Wright Patterson air force base. It is reported by air force personnel that following that attack the base fell under the control of militia forces. Enlisted air force members were released and allowed to return to their off base homes, but all senior officers, including the base commanding general and United Nations personnel are being held as prisoners somewhere on the base.
We cannot confirm these facts as yet communications to the base are not operational. But if the rebels do have control of that base they now have long range bombers and other aircraft capable of carrying powerful bombs. This is a terrible day for America to see such weapons fall into the hands of terrorists. We are told military forces now being returned from overseas bases are still two days from shore. But we have learned that large numbers of organized militia forces, numbering in the hundreds of thousands are massing in the coastal areas of the Carolinas as well as in the northeast and western coastal areas. Clearly they appear intent on meeting regular army forces in battle when they arrive in those ports to disembark.
Washington appears to have insufficient numbers of trained forces here at home to meet this militia uprising and can only wait until returning forces are in position with adequate numbers to return order to our land. More than one hundred thousand United Nations troops comprised of European and Arabic forces stationed in Canada are ready to intervene if Washington requests their aid or if ordered to intervene by the acting UN President, formerly the American president.
Civil strife also appear imminent in the Countries of Australia and England as citizens in those countries forced their parliaments to restore gun rights to citizens and oppose United Nations policies. The Australian Prime Minister issued a statement supporting the American militia and is reportedly ready to send troops and other resources to aid the militia if UN forces invade American soil. Also the British Parliament convened and voted to withdraw that countries membership in the United Nations, and their Prime Minister is said to be in communications with the Washington Joint Chiefs.
We are told the Joint Chiefs and their Chairman will be holding a news conference within the hour and we will air their meeting when it occurs. Richard turned to the others and said events are unfolding fast. They looked over at their prisoners who all seemed to be in a state of disbelief. Clearly shaken by the news they had heard. They walked over and stood before the prisoners. Wilson looked at the president and asked was it worth this just to have your few days of power. Richard said don’t even bother with her or any of them, they’re all traitors and will be treated as such when these days are over. He told the guards, take them and secure them in individual rooms and lock the doors.
Just then Richard received an incoming call and after a short conversation he told the other party affirmative we are ready to receive them here. He turned to the others and said I was advised several militia units across the country have United Nations Personnel in custody and are looking for a central place to intern them. I advised they were all to be brought here where we have facilities and personnel to take care of
them. We can expect several hundred prisoners over the next few days. The others agreed it was better for all concerned to secure them all at one location.
A senior pilot came to report all aircraft have been inspected by crew chiefs and all are airworthy and our pilots and crew members are prepared to put them into use if conditions require it be done. Munitions are secured and aircraft can be armed and ready on short notice. Well done Richard said, but let us hope it does not become necessary. A senior mess stewart reported food supplies are in good shape with plenty of reserve rations available to feed our personnel for a considerable time. A member of the medical team reported there is an abundant supply of medical supplies and added, all active duty medical personnel have volunteered to remain on staff and request they be permitted to do so. Wilson said this first sign of active duty commitment to the cause of liberty should be accepted and the others agreed. Wilson advised the medic, tell them their offer is accepted, that we welcome them.
Tim, James, and Joshua came in to advise the new commanders have their security personnel posted. The others have moved into the barracks and quarters have been prepared for all your troops. Mess facilities are up and running and your commanders have the situation well in hand. Richard turned to retired colonel Wilson and said, the base is now yours to command colonel. He turned to Goldie and said, our transportation is available to return you and your troops to your camp. You can have your drivers meet them at camp and take them from there. You have all earned our thanks for a job well done. Meanwhile I shall be returning to my headquarters and will contact you after I talk to the other area commands and see how the joint chiefs respond to our actions.
The men shook hands around then Mac said well lets go get the troops loaded up and move out. The drivers had taken control of a number of air force trucks and busses and within an hour the last troops moved out of the base. Goldie said goodby to Richard and the others then He and his sons with Tim and Brian boarded the last vehicle and headed for home. It wasn’t long before they caught up with the others and an hour later all were safely back at their camp area. The drivers had no more than departed when friends and family started arriving to take their men home. It was a happy homecoming for all because all had returned home safe. As they left Goldie thanked them for their courage and told them to rest and go back to their jobs until they were needed.
He held his grandchildren close then told his sons take them home and let them know you love them. Then he turned to Tim and Brian and their wives and said be off with you and enjoy your time together. Later when it was just him with Mac and the old squad members they sat around the fire and relaxed with their sodas. They discussed what the generals reaction to the loss of his bases and aircraft might be, and how the UN leaders would react. Goldie said we’ll probably know soon once Richard and the other national leaders state our position.
The communications technician suddenly said got it; That mobile commo truck we brought back from the base gives us everything we need. We now have dish network and wireless communications capabilities nationwide. Now we not only can see what the public and government networks are saying, we have audio and visual contact worldwide. The men all poured themselves a cup of hot chocolate and sat down to watch the screen.
A group of media commentators were discussing the events of the last few days and world governments reaction to them. The fact that England had now joined Australia and withdrawn their membership from the United Nations brought a cheer from the men. The group was discussing the lack of information regarding discussions between the English prime minister and the joint chiefs and why neither had yet made any public announcements. We are told, they said, that the joint chiefs and their chairman General Sheridan will be holding a news conference shortly but no time has been given.
One of the announcers was saying we do have information that communications are ongoing between the joint chiefs and temporary leaders of the United Nations. Also, sources in Canada have reported there has been some UN troop movements in that country following the militia attacks here in the United States. Government sources report that as many as five hundred army troops were killed when militia forces overran the air bases in Texas and New Mexico. It is reported there was no loss of life when militia forces took control of the air base in Ohio.
Well Goldie said, we should be hearing from Richard or Wallace regarding any information they have on the UN troop movements in Canada. I’m sure they have people keeping them advised of that situation. Mac said our central sector commands were already moving their people into Wisconsin and Pennsylvania in case the UN forces move across the border. They will probably need us to move in and join up with the Michigan militia to cut off the invaders southern route if that happens. Shrader, their commo chief said, well we’ll know soon Richards coming on line now. Seconds later Richard, Wallace, and Wilson could be seen seated around a table.
Mac said we have you on screen now, if you can see and hear us try your conference speaker so we can all hear you as well. Wallace said you’re coming in loud and clear, you have that mobile unit up and running already. Goldie replied loud and clear here too gentlemen. We were just watching the public media network looks like the UN may be ready to make their move. Sounds like the General is unwilling to state his position openly. What news do you have? Wilson said Richard has a bit of a cold so I’ll bring you up to date on what we believe is happening. We have received a number of UN officials from other locations with more on the way. They will be interned here with the others as planned until matters are resolved. We are in control of both air bases out west and our personnel are capable and ready to use those aircraft and those we have here if the need arises. We are advised our forces are in place in all regions ready to meet the returning military when and if they are ordered to move against us. We know we outnumber the active troops ten to one and are confident our commanders have the experience and resources to defeat any who may be launched against us.
Now as to the situation in Canada. Our informants advise there are troop movements ongoing. At this time it appears to be a consolidation of troops closer to our borders in the Ontario Providence in the area around Sault Ste. Marie. That would put them in position to come across the Mackinaw bridge into Michigan. That would be a fatal error on their part isolating themselves by water on both flanks with no means of escape except to return the route they entered. But we believe they want to take you and your men out of action and get their leaders back and that is the most direct path for them to attempt it. The Indiana militia have twenty thousand men already in position around East Chicago, while the Michigan forces have placed their twenty thousand men in the Toledo Detroit area. We need you to move thirty thousand men between them in the south bend and Elkhart areas. That will give us seventy thousand manpower on a southern line of defense stretching from Chicago to Detroit. Also Wisconsin and Illinois will have an additional force of fifty thousand in position should they try to move across the border south thru Wisconsin. We also have the Pennsylvania and New York force of forty thousand should they try to come in south thru Toronto and Buffalo. Those forces also will be able to move in to your southern front if needed.
Goldie asked how imminent is the threat of UN forces moving across the border. Wilson replied they are at least two days away from having all their forces in position and we also believe they are waiting for the generals troops to arrive by air flights. Goldie replied two days is not a problem, we can assemble that many men or more by morning. Wilson said we don‘t believe it is that urgent, however, if you assemble your people by noon tomorrow at your camp we will have trucks and busses there to transport all your personnel and equipment. Extra supply and ammunition trucks will accompany you and all trucks and support personnel will remain behind your lines for re-supply purposes. Wilson said load your mobile commo lab aboard a truck you can run your command out of that unit.
Now as to other matters. We have heard nothing official from the general or the joint chiefs as yet. But we
must and will be prepared to meet the enemy on our terms wherever they come from. Our base here will be the central command for all militia operations. All sectors will report directly to this command for logistic purposes as well. We have twenty thousand men quartered here at this base. They will be available to re-supply or reinforce your men if that becomes necessary. Your operation code name is northern lights. Any questions gentlemen? Goldie said all clear here we will be prepared to move on your arrival, and complete the mission. Richard rose to say I have no doubt you will succeed. Gentlemen stay in contact we will furnish any new information as we receive it.
Mac turned to their radio operator and told him get our field commanders on the line. One by one first Brian, Tim, James, and Joshua all were contacted and brought up to date on the need to assemble their troops at the camp. They were advised of the purpose and the need to pack for a weeks travel. All assured they would be there by noon with their men ready to travel. Mac said well Goldie nothing to do now but pack our gear and wait for morning. Their camp cook walked up and said the fire is hot and we have hamburgers and hotdogs with sweet corn our friend the farmer dropped off this morning. The men all rose and charged towards the mess tent and spent the next hour enjoying the good food and friendship then turned in for the night.
Mac came walking up to the fire where Goldie was had just poured a hot cup of coffee. He got himself some coffee then said you’re up early Top. Goldie asked him how do you think the squad would feel if we split them up on this one? Mac said the twelve of us have been thru a lot together but they trust your judgment. What do you have in mind? Well I kind of thought I would like for four of them to go with James, four with Joshua, you and the other three stick with Tim and myself. I’d feel a lot better knowing they were with the boys on this one. Mac said they will understand that and It’s a good idea for the boys to have someone with them whose experience and judgment they trust. What about Brian? I want him and a couple of men to stay with Shrader and make sure the commo lab is secure and working. Later as the others gathered round the fire for coffee and breakfast Mac discussed the idea with them and all were in agreement.
