“I’m never telling you guys anything again,” he said then to his parents. “Please tell me you have regular clothing.”

“Of course, son.” His dad smirked. “Although I just might keep this on. I’m liking it.”

  “Dad.”

“So you did see the band yesterday?” Conrad asked.

“Yes and I stupidly told them about my aliens’ comment to you.” Jade flipped them all off. “Which I regret now.”

“Jade, you don’t give someone the bird in front of your mom.” Conrad hissed.

  “Why not?” Jade asked.

“Don’t worry, dear.” His mother stepped forward and pushed Jade out of the way then turned Conrad around and put her hand into the crook of his arm. “My boys are gentlemanly when needed and can swear like a sailor when necessary. And believe me with the mischief they get into including those bandmates of theirs, it’s no wonder we aren’t all gray.” She patted her hair. “This is after all my natural color. Unlike some people like my green-haired baby over there. Are you sure you want to marry him?”

Conrad glanced at Jade and snickered. “You told your mom about us meeting.”

  “Not everything,” Jade said quickly.

Conrad laughed then focused on his mom. “Yes, I want to marry him. Although I might be convinced not to, if you divorce your husband to marry you instead.”

“Don’t bullshit me, son,” his mother said. “I already like you. Oh…do you by any chance have any brothers or sisters? I need to marry off some more of my kids.” She led Conrad away.

Conrad answered her seriously. “I do. I have a brother who would get that reprobate Micah under control.”

Since they were heading away from the door Jade knew Micah hadn’t heard. “Hey Micah,” Jade said gleefully.

  “What?” Micah came inside.

  “Mom is matchmaking.”

Micah cursed and took off after her. Jade strolled behind them and when he entered the living room he chuckled at Micah pleading with their mom not to matchmake while he chastised Conrad for encouraging her.

“You’re happy, son,” Jade’s dad said.

Although it wasn’t a question he nodded. His dad slapped him on the shoulder.

“Let’s rescues your fiancé from your mother and Micah.”

  He nodded.

His dad belted out the opening words to the song that they usually sang first at Christmas. The other came into the room and joined in. Micah and his mother stopped talking and they all joined in and sang “Silent Night.”

Jade went over to Conrad and he slid his fingers between his and stared into those golden eyes of the man who had agreed during that one special moment to be his. He planned for there to be many more.
