“I love you, too,” Emmy whispered back with a nervous smile.

“Emmy,” Finn continued, as nerves seemed to take hold of his entire body. “We have been through a lot, in a short space of time, but through it all, one thing remained constant. This feeling I have deep down inside me. This feeling like not only have I found my best friend, but I have found the other half of my soul.”

“You’re going to make me cry,” Emmy gushed as happy tears danced in her eyes.

“I don’t want you to cry,” Finn replied with a grin. “I want you to say yes.”

“Yes?” Emmy asked, giving him a confused look once more.

He pulled the small velvet box from beneath the table, setting it down in front of her. Emmy’s eyes widened, as her hands covered her mouth.

“Emmy,” Finn said as he suddenly stood up, walking around to Emmy’s side of the table, where he dropped down to one knee. “Will you say yes to becoming my wife?”

He reached for the box on the table, then opened it for Emmy, revealing a most beautiful solitaire diamond ring.

“I know it’s soon,” Finn continued as he looked up into her eyes. “And I know you’re still unsure…”

“Shut up, Professor Murphy,” Emmy said with a grin before she leaned forward, softly kissing his lips. “My answer is yes.”

“Yes?” Finn repeated, needing to be absolutely sure he heard right.

“YES!” Emmy yelled out loud before she kissed him once more.

Finn wasted no time. Standing up, he pulled Emmy closer to him, and kissed her harder, as pure joy filled his entire body. Releasing her from his embrace, he pulled the ring from the box, then slipped it onto her finger, before he brought her hand to his lips and softly kissed it.

Still, holding her hand, Finn turned and headed for the hallway, then up the stairs.

Tonight he was going to make love to his fiancée. He was finally getting more than just one night with her. He was getting forever.
