Kisses and Warfare: A Enemies to Lovers Standalone Romance.

Just before I get to the door, my phone on my hip starts ringing, so I answer.
McPherson is on the other end. “Miss, there seems to be some men here that aren’t welcome.”
I hang up and quickly bring up the front of the club on my computer. I watch the news enough to know Blaze has a rival MC club. The clubs are always fighting each other in some way, and there are some members from each currently in jail.
One of the men walks in through the front door with two others beside him. From what I can see, it’s only Blaze in the club with his brother.
Who just so happens to be with my sister.
Fuck.
Running out of my office, I see my sister with Marcus and Blaze, and behind them to the left of the entrance is where two other members are from the rival biker club. I walk straight past my sister and to where McPherson is talking to the two guys.
Stopping in front of them, I offer them a simple smile. “Gentlemen.”
Two sets of greedy eyes turn to me.
“If you’re any indication of what’s in store… sign me up,” one mumbles.
I refuse to shake my head or tell him where he can shove his words. “It seems we are full tonight. But may I suggest a nearby neighboring club for you to attend?”
Both of them look to each other, then back to me.
“Now, now, girly, you wouldn’t be trying to kick us out, would you?” the one with dark eyes says as he pulls on his vest. The other one watches me with hooded eyes, and all I can do is offer a smile in return.
“Never, but as I said—” I turn to wave and my hand comes into contact with a hard body. Blaze’s eyes are sharp, and the scar on his eyebrow pinches as he looks at the two men in front of me.
“Is this why you won’t let us in?” one asks, not even looking at me anymore. His eyes are firmly on Blaze. “You let this scum in, but not us?” he questions, gritting his teeth, then shoots a daggered look down at me. “Silly girl.” He shakes his head.
“Seems we outnumber you, though,” the other says, looking around, then back to Blaze.
That’s when I hear the loud revving of motorcycle engines as Marcus walks up behind Blaze as well. Both sets of eyes go to him, and they seem to straighten up.
“Reap.”
They nod.
Hmmm, that’s interesting.
Blaze seems to think so too because his angry stare goes from them to his brother.
Marcus doesn’t say a word at the name they have just called him. Instead, he simply stands still behind his brother, letting him know he’s there if needed.
“Seems we aren’t wanted here.” Both sets of eyes flick to me again. “Our mistake,” one says while shaking his head.
“So, sorry, boys, maybe next time, or maybe not.” I smile.
They turn and walk out the front, the door closing behind them.
“You stupid fool,” Blaze whispers to me.
I straighten and turn to face him. “What did you just say?”
There’s anger evident on his face as his eyes turn to Marcus.
“You’re dealing with them again?” Blaze asks Marcus, to which he doesn’t answer, just walks away to where my sister is talking to Teddy at the bar.
I go to walk away, only he captures my wrist. “Office, now.” I pull my wrist free and go straight there, his footsteps are heavy behind me. Rochelle waves at me as I enter, and I smile back as I’m pushed in from behind rather harshly.
Asshole.
“Don’t you go near them. Don’t you talk to them,” Blaze says as he steps close to my face, his lips inches from mine. If I leaned forward, I could kiss him, and he wouldn’t be able to stop me. That’s how close we are.
Chapter Ten
Blaze
Kat backs away from me, taking her sweet lips with her. They’re painted a vibrant red tonight to match her red lace shirt.
“I’ve run this place long before you came along.” She crosses her arms over her chest in defiance, which naturally pushes her tits up higher. “Why didn’t you tell them it was your place?” she asks, probing further.
“Because,” I say, stepping back up to her. She takes a step away until her back touches the door. “If they knew this place was mine, they wouldn’t have just walked away. You would have more issues if they knew,” I say to her.
It’s true, Wretched MC, which is a stupid fucking name, are trouble. And they thrive on making mayhem wherever they go.
“They know you hang here, so I think the issue is still relevant.”
“Why did you have to walk so close to them,” I breathe over her. My fists tighten at my sides to stop myself from touching her.
“Oh, look at you. Are you trying to be protective? It’s cute, really.” She drops her head to the side while smirking at me. “I’ve been doing this long before you walked in that door, and I will be doing it long after you are gone.” She goes to push past me, but I block her way. “Move, Blaze.”
“No,” I growl.
Kat gives me an eye roll, and I want to spank her, so fucking badly.
Instead, I clench my fists harder.
“Do you plan to change how I run things?” Her voice picks up a notch. While she waits for my answer, her lips thin. She’s nervous I’ll change things, upset what she’s built here.
“Do you want me to?”
“No,” she answers straight away.
“Okay, then that’s sorted. You stay running things the way they are, and I’ll come in as I do to watch over you.”
“Watch me?”
“Yes, you’re interesting to watch. Even with all that damn attitude.”
Kat’s mouth opens, and just when I think she’s going to say something, she closes it again, but then she states, “Is that all?”
“No comeback! What’s going on?”
Someone knocks on the door behind her, making her jump straight into me. I grip her shoulders, holding her tight and lean down. She smells good. So fucking good. Without thinking, I lean forward and let my lips wander to the crook of her neck, which is exposed from her hair piled up high on her head. She smells like strawberries, and it takes everything in me to not bite her.
“Blaze.”
“Hmmm,” I say, my tongue darting out.
Kat shivers under my touch, and I have to control myself. It’s been too long since I’ve tasted something so sweet that I have to contain myself.
“Do you want to engage in warfare with me?” she asks, and I stop.
When I look back up to her, her eyes have gone a darker blue, and her breathing is heavy.
“Warfare,” I say through pursed lips. “Yes, warfare with you should be interesting.”
Another knock comes on the door, and she turns her body, coming back into contact with mine when she opens it.
“Are you coming out? It’s getting late,” Rochelle says through the door.
I reach out and touch Kat’s hip, my hand hidden from Rochelle, and then slide it over her ass. She doesn’t move or shove me away—she simply stares at her sister.
“Yes, just checking over some things. I won’t be long,” she somehow manages to say.
Rochelle looks past her to me, gives me a hard look, then turns on her heels and walks away. The sisters are so much alike, and yet so different. They have similar looks, but Kat is edgier, wilder. Especially that mouth of hers.
She shuts the door and turns around, making my hand drop from her perfect ass.
“What the fuck,” she mutters while shaking her head. Then she steps forward and cups my cock in her hand. She’s done this before, but this time it’s gentler. “I was going to keep this thing professional, but you just had to go and grab my fucking ass, didn’t you?” She bites at my ear, and I feel my cock strain in my trousers at her words. “You don’t want to engage with me. I will break you, little boy.” She squeezes my cock, then steps away.
Hold the fuck on.
Did she just call my cock, little boy?
Before I can stop myself, I walk back t
o her. Her legs hit the desk and I push her back on it, then lean forward, my lips touching hers but not moving.
Pressing my hips into hers so she can feel me, I state, “Nothing about me is little. You feel that?”
“No,” she says through our close lips.
“Cheeky, Katarina.”
Her eyes flare at her name, and I bite her bottom lip, pushing back down on her again so she can be sure to feel all of me. Her hands go to my chest and she pushes me up so she can stand. She turns so I have my back to her desk, then she pushes me back, and I let her.
Her knees go up, and soon she’s on the desk, and I’m trapped between her legs with her looking down at me. “I’m not like your usual girls, Blaze.” Something cold presses into my neck, and she tsks at me. “That’s a knife at your neck. Next time you touch me without my permission, push your cock onto me, or anything else, I will use this knife and cut your fucking throat. You hear me? Boss.” She smiles and climbs back down. I look at what’s in her hand, and sure as shit, she has a damn knife. A small pocket one, but still she has it none the less. And it can do significant damage should she want it to.
“Challenge accepted.” I smile.
“No. There’s no challenge. Go. Find someone else.”
“Didn’t you want me to fall in love with you, so you could break my heart?” I tease her. My cock’s still hard from her words, her actions, and I think I may be falling in love with her, or should I say her sass.
“I decided you aren’t man enough to handle my rejection. You may do something rash. Like, for example, fire me, or come into my office and sexually harass me.” She smirks, her lips turning up. She likes to play.
I rub my hands together, smiling at her. “I won’t ever fire you, but I will come to see how you’re doing.”
“I’ve run this place fine without anyone overseeing how I’m doing,” she bites back.
“I don’t want to see how the club is doing, I have faith you can run it.” I step forward again, and Kat holds her little knife up at me.
“One more step, asshole, and you will be having trouble breathing.”
“What a way to tell a man you love him, by threatening him with bodily harm.”
She scoffs, dropping her arm along with the knife to her side.
“Love. Please…” She waves to leave. “Go, now. I have things I need to do before I go and watch my sister get trashed with your brother.”
“I’ll be staying until you leave.” I smirk. “You know, to keep you safe.”
“Fuckhead,” she whispers as I walk away.
“You love me,” I say back to her as I shut the door.
I hear something thud against the other side of the door and the tinkling sound of breaking glass.
Chuckling, I walk straight into Marcus.
Chapter Eleven
Kat
I hate him. Hate him. What an asshole. And now he’s my damn boss. I hear him on the other side of the door, so I open it to see him standing there talking to Marcus, who looks at me then back to Blaze. I push past them, not even bothering to be polite, and go straight for my sister, who is still drinking her way through our cocktail drink menu.
“How much have you had to drink?” I ask, looking at her face.
She giggles, and I know with her glassy eyes, it’s a lot.
“Marcus ran off, said he had to speak to Blaze, and told me…” she hiccups, “… to stop drinking.” She pokes her tongue out, then proceeds to drink more. “He thinks he can tell me what to do.” Rochelle shakes her head. “Only in the bedroom do I allow that.” Her smile is big as Marcus and Blaze walk back over.
Blaze takes one look at me and goes in the opposite direction, toward the door.
“We’re going,” Marcus says, helping my very intoxicated sister to stand. Rochelle leans forward, placing her hand on my shoulder and kissing my cheek.
“My old ball and chain is taking me home,” she says with a smile.
Marcus fights a lip twitch at her words, and I smile at her. She really is happy with him. They are two complete opposites, and yet somehow, they balance each other out perfectly.
I’m a little jealous.
My phone buzzes, and I pull it out to see it’s a private number. I also notice that it’s late.
Rochelle looks to it and plucks it from my hands, answering it with, “Kat’s phone,” then she says, “Hello.” She pulls the phone away from her ear and hands it to me. “I think they hung up.”
I look and see the caller’s still on the line because the call hasn’t ended.
“Hello.”
“Kat.”
A voice I haven’t heard for a while says my name, and I immediately hang up.
“Who was that?” Marcus asks, clearly taking in my white expression.
“No one,” I reply, tucking the phone back into my pocket.
Why on earth would he be calling?
What does he want?
It’s hard to forget the voice of the father of your child. And how the hell he got my number is another thing I would like to know.
Marcus doesn’t say anything, accepting my answer, and Rochelle is too drunk to care.
Walking them to the front door, I grab Rochelle’s arm. “Don’t tell Mom.”
She nods, and Marcus walks her out while I stand there until the door closes.
Then I head back inside to finish up my night.
Fred waits at the door for me very patiently. He knows how I am, and how long it usually takes me to get out of here. I’m always the last one to leave. It’s why I let him start his shift later than everyone else because he’s guaranteed to stay back with me. He sits on one of the corner seats in my office on his phone while I finish up tallying the money and putting it in the safe for banking tomorrow, when the door bursts open.
Blaze’s angry eyes find mine then flick to Fred.
“You can leave,” he says, holding the door open.
Fred looks to me for reassurance, and I just nod my head as he gets up to leave. “See you tomorrow, Miss.”
Blaze waits until he’s gone before his angry eyes fasten on me. His arms cross over his chest. “Why the fuck are you still here?”
I squint at him. Really look at him and take him in. He’s tanned, probably from all the motorcycle riding he does, and his dark hair is perfect. Jeans hang low on his hips, and he’s wearing a white shirt and vest. I know what it says on the back without him even turning around to show me.
“Why the fuck are you here? That’s the real question. Did you not leave earlier?” I ask, looking back down, so my eyes don’t stare at him longer than necessary. Because if they do, I may start undressing him with them.
“I came to check everything was fine and saw your car still sitting outside,” he says with a head shake. “Do you have a death wish?”
“Hey, Blaze…” I smile at him. “Do you want to fuck to get out some of that frustration you got going on? I mean, it could help loosen you up a bit.” I smile. His mouth drops open, and then he closes it fast. He shakes his head infinitesimally and runs a hand through his perfect hair, messing it up. And all I can think about is how I wish it were me who had done it, making it not so perfect anymore.
“Did you just…” He shakes his head as my phone starts ringing again, and I see the private number and swear, throwing it into my purse as I finalize everything.
Walking up to him, I tap his chest. “Come on, big boy, walk me to my car now that you’ve sent Fred home,” I say, then keep walking. At first, I don’t hear his footsteps behind me, so I think he’s letting me walk by myself, which makes no sense since he’s angry I’m here this late at night, and that’s when I hear him. His steps catch up to mine, and he gets to the door before I do, holding it open for me. Finding the right key, I lock it and turn to him. “So, that’s a no on the fucking then?” I ask him.
To my surprise, his mouth doesn’t open again.
He just smirks at me. “You really like to fuck with me, don’t you
, Katarina?”
Damn! I grind my teeth at the use of that name.
“I asked you to stop calling me that.”
“Well, I hate the name Kat.”
“Why?” I ask.
“Because the last Kat I knew was a bitch. Are you a bitch, Katarina?”
“I could very well be,” I say sassily.
Taking a step away from him, I turn to go to my car and see his bike parked right next to me. Just as I reach my car, I hear the rev of engines, and four bike lights shine on us as they pull in. They are blocking my path to get out.
“Fuck!” I hear Blaze mutter under his breath as he walks ahead of me and blocks me with his body. His hand goes to the back of his trousers, and as he lifts it, I see the tip of something dark.
A gun?
What the fuck?
“What is going on?” I hiss at him.
Blaze doesn’t answer, simply stares ahead as the same guy from earlier gets off his ride.
“Blaze, Blaze…” He shakes his head. “Seems you’re here all by yourself this time. And with a sweet piece of ass. Is she yours?” one asks. The asshole doesn’t get off his bike, just removes his helmet. He is definitely the same guy from earlier this evening.
“You should leave. You know you aren’t welcome here. You’re trespassing on private property.”
“Do you plan to remove me?” he cracks his neck side to side. Taking a deep breath, his beady eyes lock on me. “She’s a pretty thing,” he says, eyeing me from where I stand behind Blaze.
I step to the side and fist my keys in my hand. “Unless you want the cops called, you should leave. Now, if you boys don’t mind, I have somewhere I need to be.” I unlock my car as one of the guys speaks, “I can pay you. Isn’t that what you do… take money from men to show your body? Here’s twenty, show me your tits.”
I look up to see one man throw a twenty my way.
“Take that twenty and shove it right up your ass, asshole.”
“Katarina,” Blaze hisses next to me, quiet enough that no one else but me can hear him.
“Don’t hog her, Blaze. We like them fiery,” another says.
