  CHAPTER ONE

  I heard your booty,

  Make a big tooty,

  It smells kind of fruity,

Strawberry, your ass really turns me on.

"What?" Strawberry asked as she stopped abruptly and turned toward me. "Did you just say that you are aroused by my flatulence?"

Shit. I was singing too loud again as I followed her sexy saunter back toward the ship. My eyes were glued to her incredible firm buttocks, the altered words to one of my favorite songs just spilled out of my mouth.

"Um, no?" I replied awkwardly. Turning the tables, I then said, "Why? Did you just fart?"

"No, of course not!" Strawberry said sternly.

When I shrugged, she thankfully decided to drop the issue. I was certainly not opposed to having that plump ass in my face again sometime soon. It was best that she didn’t think that it would be acceptable to pass gas when I did. I made a mental note to stress that point at a future time, when we were alone together in her room. Would that be a buzz kill if I brought it up? A stinky fart in my mouth definitely would be.

"Kash?" Teddy's voice brought me away from the strange inner workings of my mind. "Must we reenter the ship so soon?"

He had been cooped up for so long, his future looking dismal. I had let him out at our last location to get plenty of exercise, but then locked him right back up when we launched. He knew that there was a possibility of being sold as a pet once we reached a human space station, though I had promised otherwise. That chance still existed, after we made our repairs. It was understandable that he would relish more time outside.

"We'll come back out soon," I promised him. "Some of the repairs will likely need to be done out here anyway. You can join us each time we come out."

"Are we certain that the area has been cleared sufficiently of threats?" Teddy asked. It sounded like he was digging for an excuse to stay outside.

"Yes," Strawberry replied impatiently. "It is time for all furry little creatures to return to their cages."

"The air smells funny here," Teddy added, ignoring Strawberry's jibe. Maybe the hot redhead did release something into the air from the orifice in her buttocks.

I sniffed again, making sure that I wasn't missing something. "It actually smells better here than it did back at the crash site."

"Exactly," was all that Teddy said as he reluctantly entered the ship. He brushed any dirt off his loose-fitting pants before heading for the cage in the forward cargo compartment. It had been his home for weeks since he had been captured on his home world and subsequently sold to the crew of the Arketa Moreta. I hated sending him back to it.

Once the little fellow was out of earshot, Strawberry whispered to me, "You better keep a close eye on him now."

  "Why is that?"

"Back in dragon land," she explained. "He was safer with us than running off. This place would probably be a lot more appealing to a prisoner bent on escape. He has to be weighing his survival chances with every conversation that he overhears."

That was true, but Teddy and I had a deal. I seriously doubted that he would take an opportunity to leave us. If he did, he would never see his home world again. Simply surviving could not compare to the hope of being reunited with friends and family.

"If you lose him," Strawberry said pointedly. "Your value around here drops considerably. I know that you have plans for Teddy, but in the meantime, he is still listed as valuable cargo to the people that matter."

She meant her and Sage. Did I miss something? Was our alliance on hold? She had said that she didn't want Sage to know that she was working with me now. Was it all just a ruse? I got the distinct impression that she was upset that I hadn't come to her immediately when Sage told me not to pilot the ship away from this planet.

This last comment made me realize that I still needed to keep my guard up. No more staring at that ass of hers. Strawberry would surely be an important playing piece of the game ahead, but I needed to stay in control of the game.

I decided to talk with Honeysuckle in her maintenance section of the lower level for a couple minutes. The delay in getting the anti-scent mud washed from my body would mean that I wouldn't have to share the shower room with Strawberry. I had been looking forward to it until our last conversation. Sadly, it would be a chance for her to manipulate me some more.

Honeysuckle was in her own sour mood. That was putting it lightly. She didn't like being blamed for any ship failures that kept us clinging to this alien planet. Since Strawberry was the strongest accuser, any time that I spent with the redhead was rubbing salt in Honey's emotional wound.

"We'll make these repairs, and everything will turn out okay," I told her. She nodded without looking at me instead of replying.

"My wings are stiff," Gako told me in his deep dragon voice from only a few feet away. With the dragons positioned in the main cargo hold there was no hiding the fact that some of us just exited the ship and returned.

"Yeah?" I asked the big green lizard. "How are you feeling?"

  "Trapped," Gako answered.

"Kash meant how are you healing, you rock head," Dawynda chided him. Then towards me, "We are both recovering nicely, but not close to being our old selves just yet. Maybe a couple more days. But some exercise and fresh air could surely do us some good."

"I will ask Vanilla..." I started to say.

"Is the doctor in charge now?" Dawynda challenged me.

It was a simple question, and I knew what she meant. But it came at a bad time. I felt like my control of the situation was slipping away, and everyone was making a point of letting me know. I took a deep breath and worked to control my temper.

I then ran through a list of excuses in my mind.
I was tired. I was just about to clean the dirt off me. I needed to help Honeysuckle with repairs. I should debrief with Sage regarding our new location. All legitimate replies at my disposal.

Then I realized that the dragons were currently my strongest playing piece in this tactical battle for control of the ship and the crew. Fuck everyone else! Well, not Cinnamon or Teddy. I still needed to keep them close. And not alienate either Strawberry or Honeysuckle. Shit. This constant conniving was getting my brain tired.

  "Okay," I relented. "Let's go!"

I expected the two dragons to balk at my sudden change of mind, but they did not. Instead, they both climbed to their feet and began walking toward the door.

"What are you doing?" Honeysuckle asked in shock.

"I'm taking the dragons for a walk," I replied. "Or a fly, whatever it is they need to do."

"Is that a good idea?" Honey whispered loudly to me as she approached.

"It is the best idea," Dawynda told her. Then she took a long sniff of the green skinned, white haired woman. "I like the way that you smell. Let's keep this one, Kash."

Honey was not yet used to the large reptiles getting close to her. Hearing Dawynda suggest that we would be getting rid of some of the crew scared her even more. She was not afraid to show that concern either.

I ignored Honeysuckle as I opened the exit door and called my closest friend. "Cinnamon, please join me outside for a few minutes with the dragons."

Sage's panicked voice boomed over the ship's intercom. "What do you think that you are doing?"

I ignored her as well and followed my dragons outside. A quick glance back before the door closed found Cinnamon heading down the stairs with Strawberry behind her. The freckled officer had an angry smile on her face. She wasn't happy with my move, but she respected the power play.

I wasn't completely sure that I had made the right decision, but I would make the best of it now that I made it. Strengthen my bond with the powerful dragons. Insubordinate to Sage, and Strawberry to a degree. My only regret is that I didn't retrieve Teddy first. He had practically begged to remain outside. But then again, that would give me three aliens to have to watch.

I still had the pistol and my sword from when we just did recon on the area. Though still wounded, I was certain that Gako and Dawynda had some renewed energy should a fight with any local wildlife occur. We'd be fine.

We were already beyond the engines by the time Cinnamon exited the space vessel with a minimal amount of scent-blocking paste applied. Perhaps she had faced some backlash from my decision to free the dragons for a bit. I lingered in her view as she caught up to me. It was her first time outside the ship since we had landed. Whatever she might want to say would have to wait as she took in the scene silently.

Neither Gako nor Dawynda ran, but they walked briskly. After testing their wings for a minute, they took flight one at a time. Each launch got them higher off the ground until they were able to land on the stone statues. Then on top of the ship after that.

"It's nicer here," Cinnamon finally said as she reached for my hand. "Aren't you afraid that our new friends might change their minds?"

"What would they eat?" I asked a moment too soon. Gako then snagged one of the field rats and gulped it down in one swallow.

"They'll find something, for sure," Cinnamon answered. "Hey, show me these statues."

I guided her to the one that was closest to the ship. That was the first sculptured rock that Strawberry and I had encountered earlier. The beast depicted in it had long slender legs that weren't as sexy as I had remembered. The knee join was too high and narrow. Three toed feet that belonged on an animal. A skinny waistline above broad hips appeared to be too fragile. Above it was a huge pair of breasts that cast a shadow over the entire bottom half of its body.

The female image's most human characteristic was the head. No hair, but otherwise proportions looked good. Even the pointed ears were easy to ignore since I had been spending time with body modified females of my own species. The two most jarring features were the angelic wings that sprung from its back, and the long, pointed nipples that belonged in a music video from my time.

"Are there women here that can fly?" Cinnamon asked.

"I seriously doubt it," I responded. "These statues are probably of their gods, or at least exaggerations. Out here in the middle of a field with no structures around, I would have to assume whoever placed them here are long gone. Departed from this area or died off."

"That does make sense, I guess."

"Do any humans these days have body modifications like wings?" I asked. "Are there people that can actually fly somewhere in the universe?"

"Not that I know of," Cinnamon laughed. "It would serve no purpose on spaceships or stations. There might be some that have them for ornamental reasons, but it seems like a bad choice."

"Why is that?" I asked as I visualized a person using their wings on our ship. That would be kind of stupid.

"It would be crazy difficult to put on a shirt for one thing," she told me. "Sleeping would be more awkward. Even sitting in a chair would be challenging with a large growth on your back."

I showed her the other statues, finishing with the one that had a protrusion between its legs. Cinnamon shocked me by reaching for it, then pulled up short. "Is that a penis?" she asked.

"I wouldn't know." Probably, I thought to myself. It certainly looked like a penis on a female freak’s body.

"It's almost as big as yours," she chuckled. Then she gestured toward the breasts. "Is this creature both sexes?"

"Okay, the tour is over," I said as I glanced around for the dragons. When I looked panicked Cinnamon began looking, too. They weren't in view.

"We're up here," Dawynda's voice came from above. Then she spread her wings and gave one flap to get her clear of the hull of the ship. Leaving them extended allowed her to glide to the ground and land beside Cinnamon. My friend flinched but avoided running from the scary creature that was so very fond of her. "I would like for you to ride on my back, my dear," she told Cinnamon.

"While you fly into the air?" my spice girl asked in horror.

"Yes, of course," Dawynda replied. "But not today. I am still healing from my injuries. Maybe tomorrow. Would you like that?"

"I..." Cinnamon stuttered. Though very appreciative of the female dragon coming to her rescue in our last battle, she was still struggling a bit with being in close proximity. Trying to overcome, she tentatively reached forward to pet the snout that Dawynda nudged toward her. It was a gesture that I had seen a couple times already. It made me wonder if I should be doing the same with Gako. "I'm not sure."

"I won't let you fall," Dawynda told her. "Surely you know that I would protect you with my life."

"Yes, of course," Cinnamon answered, still too nervous to say anything displeasing to the powerful beast. "I'm not sure how long we will be here, though. The repairs might..."

"Okay, that's enough!" Sage's voice came through my wrist communicator. "Everyone back inside for a meeting!"

I didn't see any reason to challenge our leader on the subject, so I guided the three of them back to the rear entrance of the ship. Along my way I continued to take in the scenery. There wasn't much to see, but in some ways that was a good thing.

I wondered how things would have gone differently if the portal dumped me here instead. No dragons, but also no spaceship. And no sexy crew members to enjoy. What if I landed here but back a bit in time? Just far enough that the species that erected these statues were still around. Would I have gotten along just as well with these monster girls?

  CHAPTER TWO

"The damage to the hull is minimal," Honeysuckle told us stubbornly.

"That's not what the ship's computer said," Strawberry rebutted.

"I think what Honeysuckle means," I interjected to prevent a dispute between those two. "Is that it won't take long to repair."

"Yes," Honeysuckle seemed marginally grateful for my interruption. "I can have it fix
ed by this evening, maybe tomorrow morning at the latest."

"That is good news," Sage said without the inflection that should have gone along with it. Was she still determined to prevent us from leaving this planet? What could possibly be her motivation?

"Unfortunately," Honeysuckle continued. "The repair to the ship's engine will take longer. If I get some help, we can probably be back in the air in a couple days."

"How can I help?" both Cinnamon and I asked at the same time. Like me, she wanted to quickly offer assistance so no one would point out that it was Honeysuckle's job to do all the repair work.

All six of us were seated at the table in the galley. It was the only place on the ship for a conference with more than three people. The dragons were resting in the cargo hold and Sage would have refused my request to have Teddy present, so I didn't ask. Since he was not a member of the crew, that was understandable. But I had no doubt that he would be assisting in the repair work.
