He reached Lindsey. Her back was against the empty window frame. Her right arm looked to be pinned behind her back. Her belly jutted out in front of her, a small six-month-old hill. Aiming the light at Lindsey, Dennis made sure he kept the beam away from her eyes. Her body was a conundrum of bruises and slashes. She had chosen to wear a white sundress for their day trip to the lake, and now it was saturated in blood.
He’d never seen so much blood.
