This book is for the plants that work to make the air breathable, for the tide that works to make the waves survivable. For our planet, who works for us even when we haven’t worked for her.
Most of all, Matt, this book exists for and because of you. For heart-work, soul-work, the work of building and sharing a life. We two might be workaholics, but loving you requires no work at all.
Coffee House Press began as a small letterpress operation in 1972 and has grown into an internationally renowned nonprofit publisher of literary fiction, essay, poetry, and other work that doesn’t fit neatly into genre categories.
Coffee House is both a publisher and an arts organization. Through our Books in Action program and publications, we’ve become interdisciplinary collaborators and incubators for new work and audience experiences. Our vision for the future is one where a publisher is a catalyst and connector.
Emily Books is a publishing project that champions transgressive, genre-blurring writing by (mostly) women. Its founders are Ruth Curry and Emily Gould.
