Bart, on the other hand, focused solely on Erika, and she was blown away when he said he wanted to watch her climax. It was highly arousing, and his knowledge of the female body reached expert level. She couldn’t care less if he’d been with a thousand females before her because Erika was the one benefitting from his mastery. Hell, she wanted to send each of them a participation trophy and thank them for making her first orgasm explosive.

Right now, she wanted to reciprocate his generosity. Erika’s hand reached between their bodies and she wrapped her fingers around his hard shaft. His groan was gratifying, and she stroked from base to tip, learning what Bart liked.

It was common knowledge that male shifters were far superior to human males in size, and she was pleasantly surprised to learn Bart wasn’t lacking in the endowment department. Maybe not the biggest she’d had, but his eager-to-please mentality pushed him far ahead of the competition. She’d take an unselfish lover over a large penis all day, every day.

“I warned you what might happen,” he grunted as her thumb swiped across the tip, and juices leaked into her palm.

“It’s your turn to cum for me,” she encouraged as she increased her speed. She was awarded with warm liquid coating her hand as more pre-cum leaked from his shaft.

Her fingers glided easily over the steel rod in her hand. She pumped harder and her free hand gently squeezed his tender sack. “Don’t stop,” Bart hissed, and his head dropped to his heaving chest.

Erika felt his body tense and knew he was close. “Look at me,” she whispered. Instantly, Bart stared into her eyes as his hips convulsed uncontrollably.

Several more pumps and he grunted, “Fuck, Erika!” Hot seed spurted into her palm and she continued to stroke his shaft as his climax barreled through his system.

He grabbed her face and mashed his mouth against hers, giving himself to her completely. She sucked his lower lip, showing him what she was capable of bestowing on other parts of his body. Despite ejaculation, Bart’s cock remained hard. Erika was impressed, to say the least. That was not her experience with males, and she wondered if it was a human trait.

She giggled as she recalled his earlier promise. “Why are you laughing?” he panted and broke the kiss.

“You said you were going to make me scream your name, but looks like you beat me to it,” she confessed with a smile then kissed the corner of his mouth.

“Because you’re the sexiest fucking woman alive. Were you under the impression I was done?” he asked as he pressed his rock-hard shaft against her thigh.

“I hope not, or that rod between my legs is going to waste,” Erika teased as she threw her leg across his hips.

“Do you have any idea how badly I want you,” Bart demanded and positioned his body between her thighs. She felt pressure at her core and her breath hitched.

“I want you, too,” she whispered and lifted her hips. The tip breached her entrance and she hissed when pain exploded in her core as Bart stretched and filled her. Every inch felt like she was splitting from the inside out, but at the same time she ached for more.

He pushed deeper and Erika gritted through the discomfort, working her hips as she adjusted to his size. Sweat broke across her body when Bart slowly moved in and out of her core. It wasn’t long before pain gave way to pleasure, and soon their bodies were moving in an erotic dance for two.

Her wolf howled in utter satisfaction as Erika freely gave her body to Bart. She wanted this moment to last forever. Just the two of them. Not human and shifter, but two beings coming together in harmony. Why couldn’t the rest of the world see their two species were more alike than different? They lived, breathed, loved, and died the exact same way. The rest of the bullshit didn’t matter.

Erika didn’t know why or what came over her, but in the throes of passion she cried out, “I love you, Bart!” at the same time he shouted his release.

Her body exploded with the most intense orgasm she’d ever felt. Stars winked in her vision as blood rushed from the top of her head to the tips of her toes. She felt dizzy and euphoric and thought she may black out from the intensity.

A split second later, Erika silently cursed her declaration of love while her body still thrummed with pleasure. It was a confounding dichotomy, and she hoped Bart was so focused on his climax that he missed her revelation.

Wait. What revelation? She didn’t love Bart. Did she? She couldn’t. They barely knew each other. It had to be the mind-blowing orgasm that had her screaming such nonsense. Yet, she still wanted him. More than before, if she were honest. Sampling Bart could’ve been the worst decision of her life.

Bart claimed Erika’s lips and all thought disintegrated, like the windblown seeds of a dandelion. His kiss consumed her to the point she couldn’t breathe. “Looks like I’m the real winner tonight,” he murmured as he placed kisses along her jaw to her ear.

“How so?” she said, playing dumb, and prayed he didn’t hear what she said.

Bart pulled back and stared at Erika. Oh, fuck. He heard, alright. That eat-shit grin told her everything.

“Look, you can’t believe what a female says during––” she began but he placed a finger to her lips, stopping her.

“Don’t. Do not take back what you said. It’ll ruin the best night of my life,” Bart admitted then placed a tender kiss to Erika’s mouth. “I don’t know what’s going on between us, but I’ve never felt like this before. Is it love? Sure as fuck feels like it. Let’s just go with it and see what happens. But don’t take back what you said,” he ordered.

“Okay,” she replied with a smile. His words touched her deeply, and she agreed whole-heartedly. There was something between them that was undeniable. It would be wrong to undermine their connection because of silly pride.

Scratching at the window had Erika’s head jerking toward the sound. Oh, hell. She forgot her blinds were open, putting their lovemaking on display for the world to see. Unfortunately, it was dark outside, and she couldn’t see a damn thing beyond the glass.

“What is it?” Bart asked and turned his head to look over his shoulder.

“Did you hear that? It sounded like something tapping against the window,” she said as she grabbed the throw draped across the back of the sofa. She quickly covered their nude bodies but knew it was too little too late if someone had seen them.

“Crap. You don’t think one of the staff could’ve walked by and seen us, do you?” she asked as she stared at the dark pane.

“Not likely. They don’t have a reason to come here at night. It was probably the wind,” he explained and nuzzled her neck.

“No, it wasn’t the wind. My hearing is far superior to yours, and I’m telling you someone is out there.”

Bart suddenly leapt from the couch, bare-ass naked, and walked to the front door. He stepped outside and, moments later, Erika saw him outside the window, waving at her. Smart-ass.

“Get your naked butt back inside,” she yelled and couldn’t stop from laughing.

He ran back inside, slammed the door, and barreled toward the sofa. She didn’t miss his glorious manhood, which hadn’t deflated in the slightest.

“Fine. You made your point,” she acknowledged and held the covers, inviting him to join her.

“If anyone was out there, I scared them away,” he chuckled and wiggled his butt toward the window.

Erika burst out laughing and smacked his ass. Come here. I’m getting cold,” she said with pursed lips and a pout.

“You don’t have to tell me twice. By the way, you were…fucking amazing. I’ve never cum that hard. Ever,” Bart revealed with a wry grin as he sat on the sofa and pulled her against his chest.

She couldn’t stop her wide grin. Bart Smith, connoisseur of sexual endeavors, thought she was amazing. It made her declaration of love less humiliating, knowing he enjoyed their lovemaking equally as much as Erika.

His blond hair fell over his eyes, and the window issue melted away. The sexy male was irresistible, and his erection refu
sed to be ignored. The blanket looked like a pitched tent for two, and his seductive brown eyes hooded with lust.

Erika’s wolf howled in her mind. Yes, you were right! she mentally acknowledged as she climbed on top of Bart and straddled his hips, ready to take a ride.

  Chapter 15

Bart walked into the conference room, and spotted Patricia sitting at the large table. “There you are. I’ve been looking everywhere for you,” he called with a grin and strode toward his assistant.

Patricia looked up and cocked her head. “Somebody’s in a chipper mood. Don’t think I’ve seen you this happy in…forever,” she retorted wearily.

“Well, I’ve got a lot to smile about. The sun is shining, I’ve got a great job, and the best assistant on the planet. What’s there not to be happy about?”

“Where’s my boss, and what have you done with him?” she joked.

“I tell you what. If things go the way I anticipate, you’ll be the first to hear the nitty-gritty,” Bart shared as he thought about the agreement he made with Erika.

She asked him to keep their relationship under wraps until she felt the time was right to tell Lawson. He respected her reasoning, and promised it was their secret for the time being. Still, he was busting at the seams to tell the world about them.

“Okay, that’s vague. Anyway, I take it you haven’t been to your office yet,” she countered with a grimace.

  “No, why? What’s up?”

“You have visitors. I asked them to leave but they refused,” Patricia informed him as she thumbed through some papers on the desk. “Which is why I’m working from here,” she added with a twist of her mouth.

“Who’s here?” he asked. He couldn’t imagine who would cause Patricia to seek refuge in the conference room.

“Kelly. And some other woman who felt it unnecessary to give her name, whatever that means,” his assistant called out as he turned to walk away.

“I meant to tell Nick that Kelly wasn’t allowed on the property without an appointment. I’ll take care of it,” Bart sighed then decided Kelly wasn’t going to ruin his day.

He hadn’t stopped grinning since he left Erika’s place that morning, and Kelly’s unwanted presence wasn’t going to interfere with his rapture. Granted, the wild sex in her shower might’ve contributed to his exuberant mood.

“Good luck with that. You know where to find me,” Patricia offered and batted her lashes mockingly.

Bart left the conference room and stalked toward his office. He had no clue what Kelly could possibly want, but her visit was about to be cut short. He barged into his office, ready to toss her, and her friend, out on their asses but froze when he saw the woman sitting beside Kelly.

  Elaine Jensen.

“Hello, Governor,” Elaine quipped with a mock smile.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” Bart spat to Elaine then glared at Kelly. Why was she with Elaine? She knew Bart was trying to put Elaine behind bars for her abuse to shifters.

Elaine shook her head and stared at Bart. “I’ve come to prevent you from making a huge mistake.”

What was she talking about, he wondered as he walked toward his office door, and closed it. “Really? And what, pray tell, would that be?” he sneered sarcastically.

“You’ve done very well for yourself, Mr. Smith. The citizens of this fine state genuinely liked you until your recent quest began. I’m here to rectify your situation,” Elaine explained as she stood and paced in front of his mahogany desk.

“If you’re referring to bringing charges against those abusing shifters, I stand firm. My mission hasn’t changed just because you’re in bed with the judge,” Bart accused. She might not be fucking the man, but he had no doubt the judge was on Elaine’s payroll.

“Ha! That’s funny,” Elaine blurted then narrowed her eyes. “Here’s the thing. You’re on the wrong side of the fence, and if you don’t leap back over, you might not get another chance. Your allegiance is skewed. You do realize that, don’t you? Wasn’t it obvious when you left the courtroom? You’ve started a war,” she balked incredulously and paused in her tracks.

“My allegiance isn’t based on choosing sides. My loyalty lies with what is right, and your methods of drawing blood from shifters is heinous. How can you stand here and deny that?”

“And, what if I’m right, Mr. Smith, and you’re wrong? What if their blood cures cancer, and you’re preventing my research by defending them? Who’s really the bad guy here? Not me, I’m afraid,” Elaine announced.

Kelly stood and walked toward Bart. “You need to think about what she’s saying, Bart. If you continue to ignore the people of Tennessee, they’ll turn against you. Is that what you want? You’ve worked so hard to get here. Are you ready to throw it away on a pack of wolves?”

Suddenly, pieces clicked together. The day they drove to Nashville and rescued Ryan, Erika, and the others, it seemed like the security guards knew they were coming. Before leaving, he told Kelly where they were going. Also, there was her odd disappearances when Bart felt she should be present. It all made sense now. Kelly was Elaine’s informant. How did he not see it earlier?

Bart’s rage rose to the surface, and he wanted to strangle the traitor. “You’re a disgrace, Kelly. Are you truly that vindictive? Why do you hate them so much?” he asked, disgust tainting his tone.

“I don’t hate them. I just choose to stand with our kind. If you’re smart, you’ll do the same,” Kelly scoffed, and Bart clenched his fists, trying to rein in his temper.

Elaine suddenly stepped between Bart and Kelly. “If you work with me, instead of against me, I can help your company. Wouldn’t you like to see S&K soar to the top of the research community. In fact, I’ll give my word that all credit will be given to your partner, Olivia Kimbro. I know she’s been researching the same data as me. As a team, there’s nothing that could stop us, especially with her connections,” Elaine hedged.

This pathetic excuse for a human being knew no boundaries. She actually thought Bart and Liv would, what, help her capture and torture shifters? She truly was insane.

“You’ve lost your fucking mind, Elaine. And, I thought your ex was the biggest pile of shit known to man. You’ve taken asinine to an entirely new level,” Bart said with a shake of his head. Now, he wanted to throttle both women with his bare hands.

Elaine shared a knowing look with Kelly. As if that was her cue, Kelly stalked to the chair and retrieved her cell phone from her handbag. She tapped her screen a couple times then shoved the device in Bart’s face. He glanced at the screen, and couldn’t believe his eyes.

It was a video of him and Erika making love at the guest house. That must’ve been the noise Erika heard outside the window the night before. Kelly recorded the whole thing which meant she sat there and watched them having sex.

“I told you that she would bring you down. Why didn’t you listen to me?” Kelly hissed and he saw hurt and anger in her eyes. Served her right for spying and taping them.

“Erika is more woman than you’ll ever be. I’m not ashamed of that video. Sorry if that disappoints you,” he ground through clenched teeth and fought the urge to strike out at Kelly. He’d never punched a woman before, but he was ready to make an exception with the two women in his office.

“I wouldn’t touch you after watching you fuck that animal. Talk about slumming,” she spat, and Bart lunged forward, grabbing Kelly by the throat.

“Say one more word about Erika and I swear I’ll snap your neck, you fucking cunt,” he threatened. Kelly’s face reddened as her air passage was constricted but Bart didn’t relent. He wanted to watch her die at his hand.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” Elaine interrupted. “An orange jumpsuit would clash with that beautiful blond hair,” she quipped, and Bart quickly released Kelly’s throat. She wasn’t worth going to prison for, Bart surmised and reined in his temper.

“Get out. Both of you,” he ordered as his chest heaved uncontrollably.

p; “I suggest you consider my offer. And, know this. The alternative is much uglier,” Elaine murmured.

Bart glowered at the despicable woman. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Either you come to my side, the human side, or that little video will end up in the media’s hands. I’d hate to see what they’ll do to you then. The governor bumping nasties with a shifter. I’m sure they’ll see your newfound devotion to the species as reprehensible,” Elaine explained with a snide leer.

“Don’t threaten me,” Bart countered, and his temperature skyrocketed. He felt his face heat and his vision went red.

“It’s not a threat, Governor. It’s a promise,” Elaine blurted.

Another surge of rage erupted, and Bart’s hands trembled at his sides. How he wanted to unleash his fury on Elaine. Like her husband, Jim, the world would be better off without the Jensens. Bart took several deep breaths then stalked from his office. If he didn’t get out of there, he would do something irreparable.

Elaine was correct about one thing. Orange didn’t suit him.

Erika checked the conference room as she searched for Bart. She’d texted and called several times, with no reply. That wasn’t like him. He always answered his phone.

She turned to leave and bumped into Patricia. A file flew out of his assistant’s hand, and papers scattered. “I’m so sorry. Have you seen Bart? I can’t find him anywhere,” Erika asked as she knelt, retrieving the loose paper.

“Not since he talked with Kelly. Did you check his office?” Patricia asked as she knelt beside her, and Erika hoped her pencil skirt didn’t split down the seam from her crouched position. Erika scooped the last of the papers and handed them to Patricia, who subsequently stuffed the documents back into the folder.

“I did. What did Kelly want?” she asked. Bart said he fired Kelly, but she was extremely manipulative. Erika didn’t trust the female, and hoped she wasn’t there to start problems for Bart.
