“I was going to suggest we dance some more.” She put her hand in front of her mouth and yawned. “But I think it might be time to go home.”

Maksim carefully settled her dress back down around her thighs. Lifting her hand, he gave her knuckles a kiss. “Shall we head back downstairs, my lady?”

At that moment the door burst open. A bouncer tumbled out onto the catwalk. It was obvious that the slender, completely non-intimidating man had come up for a smoke. He was holding his cigarettes in one hand and his lighter in the other. He looked more than a little surprised to see them. Maksim kept his face neutral, wondering how the bouncer would proceed.

“You guys aren’t supposed to be up here,” the man said, stating the obvious.

Nika smiled one of her sweetest grins. “I know. Sorry about that. I was just dying to see what the club looked like from up here.”

“We’ll head back down, if you like.” Maksim peered at the man, reading him so easily it was almost sad. This guy had no desire to get into a confrontation, nor did he have much experience with bossing customers around. Obviously the poor man was a bottom of the ladder sort of employee.

Nika had apparently read the bouncer’s body language as well; because she fluttered her lashes at him and smiled so brightly she likely blinded the man. “You know, I was thinking about giving my boyfriend a blow job up here. Don’t you think that would be exciting?”

The poor guy’s mouth popped open. “I, uh.” Then the bouncer looked at Maksim. “Dude, you are the bomb. Seriously.” Then he turned and left the catwalk.

Nika looked at Maksim, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively. “Apparently your awesomeness is just that inspiring.”

Maksim laughed, and then kept laughing because he didn’t want to stop. Nika howled right along with him, both of them grabbing their bellies and enjoying the moment as if it might be their last.

This was what Maksim had waited his whole life to experience. Not money or power or connections, just the powerful knowledge that he was in the exact right place at the exact right time and living life the way he was meant to.
