Love's Journey: Makaila's Story

“Adam…” My voice finally croaked his name. He looked at me silently waiting. “There is so much you don’t know.”

He grabbed my hands, “Tell me,” he said in a whispered tone. I began to fill him in on my past. I told him everything including details about my abusive mother and how she was with men.

I told him about my sisters and my friends. I also told him the story of how Chris and I met. The years we had together. The abuse I endured and the day I decided I had finally had enough. All of the hurt and pain leading up to me shooting and believing I killed Chris. Throughout it all Adam stayed quiet, holding my hand in his. I told him everything, all the way to the point where I was homeless moving from city to city, until I met Ms. Brenda. Then I filled in the gaps of information on how I created a new identity and how I learned from Dr. Q about the damage my body suffered. I left one of most important parts of my story for last. I finally got to tell him I was born Makaila Lily Windstorm.

The second I was done, Adam’s lips hit mine with such force he knocked my breath away. Our tongues collided in their own song and dance. His hands traveled to my breasts, loving them in only the way he could. My body responded to him sending a flash of heat through me. My panties were soaked filled up with my desire for him. My moans filled my lungs and exploded in our mouths. Adam picked me up, pregnant and all carrying me to his bedroom; our dinner would have to wait. He grabbed my dress and pulled it over my head. He stepped back to admire my half-naked body.

“Bel- Maka- shit I don’t know what to call you.” I stood up and pressed my body against his. Reaching up on the tips of my toes, I licked his neck all the way up to his pink lips. I didn’t want him to over think who I am to him.

“It’s been to long since I have had you,” he said taking my hand and rubbing his hard erection. In the next instance, he had me ass up, tearing my thong apart. My lady parts were in full display, dripping wet. So, wet my inner thighs were covered in my tantalizing juices.

“I love the sight of this.” Adam proclaimed bending down licking the juices from my thighs. Once he reached the lips to my opening, I let out a piercing cry. He licked me from my lips all the way up my spine. I heard him unbuckle his pants followed by the feeling of his hard on rubbing my clit.

He entered me with a powerful thrust. Rocking in and out of me gripping my hips with his hands.

“Adam!” I screamed as he went deeper and deeper filling my body with his love. Every movement he made was bringing me closer to the brink and making me forget all the bad times over these past few months. Heat once again finds me and a shiver runs through me along with a tingle that lets me know my body is ready to explode.

“Yes, Adam, yes I need you.”

Adam grunted, pumping in and out of me slowly pronouncing his words. “Baby, I love you. It’s. You. And Me Baby. You. And. Me.” Those words send us both into the clouds gasping for air.

We lay in each other’s arms, enjoying the moment for several minutes. Our hands move along, relearning the fine contours of our bodies, leading us to make love again. This time was much slower and gentler than the last. His hands found their way to my stomach. Rubbing my baby bump, he whispers to our child, “Daddy loves Mommy and you very much.”

I loved the fact that he never referred to the baby as an it or a thing. We decided some time ago that we didn’t want to know. Our first sonogram still was on display on the fridge with a question mark on it indicating we don’t know the sex of the baby.

Before we knew it, we were completely exhausted and had fallen asleep. I awoke a few hours later. Adam was next to me with his arm around my belly. I slipped out of his tight hold and gathered my clothes. As much as I would have loved to stay, I know I must go. I didn’t mean for things to go so far between us tonight. We needed to talk. Lovemaking was not in the plan, yet it happened anyway. The truth of the matter is, I do love him with everything in me. But was love enough? I loved him before the accident, then that love was tested, we failed, and our relationship was destroyed.

I was scared shitless and my heart couldn’t handle that again. I needed to make sure there were no more stressors for the sake of my unborn child. I walked into Adam’s office. In there I found a pen and a piece of paper. Tears filled the rim of my eyes before falling onto the paper. Pen to paper I wrote:

  My dearest Adam,

I have loved you harder than I have ever loved any man. That’s why this has hurt me the most, losing you that is. When I needed you more than life itself, the fact of the matter is that you were not there. My life without you was so cold. I needed your touch to warm me up. My body craved you and my mind was lost without you. Yet you continued as if I meant nothing to you. I heard and felt your apology and I forgive you. I honestly do. I just don’t know if and how we can ever move on. I am sorry if this confuses you because of our night together. No, matter what I will treasure it forever. Take care of yourself Adam.

  Xoxo,

  Makaila

“Good morning, beautiful.” I announced to my girl finally happy to have her back in my bed and home where she belonged. I reached to grab me a nice handful of her ass, only to feel a handful of sheets. I got up naked ass and all, heading straight to the bathroom to drain my pipe, then to find my woman. I am still not quite sure who to call her so I yell out, “Baby where are you at?” To my surprise again nothing, cold sheets and now silence. I go back to my room and put on a pair of sweat pants. I walked around and searched every room. She was nowhere to be found. I took a seat in my office prepared to give her a call, when I saw she had written me a note.

I read the note and reread the note, my anger reaching unmanageable levels. How could she not feel the way I felt, after the night we shared together? She wrote about me being confused, she was damn straight, I’m confused as hell. I made my way to my home gym, needing to pound it out with my weights, a punching bag, and the treadmill. Here lately I had to take it easy due to my injuries, but I was able to get out some frustration. Hours later, I felt the need for speed. That was why I was traveling Maserati style, flooring the gas. I made it to my brother’s house in record time. We have a key to each other’s house, so I let myself in.

  “Alex.”

“Yeah,” he hollered back. I made my way to his game room. Alex was shooting a few hoops on the newest basketball video game. “What’s up, big bro?”

I stood in front of the TV blocking his view.

He yells a few choice words in my direction.

“I need you to pay attention, we need to talk.”

“You can’t just come into my house demanding shit.” He barked out.

“It’s about Makaila,” I leveled with him.

“Who the fuck is that?” I rolled my eyes at his question. Apparently, they are not that close.

“Bella, it’s about Bella.” That gets his attention. He put the controller down and focused on what I had to say.

“Bella, spent last night with me.” Yeah, I rub that shit in, and by the look on his face, he was feeling the same hurt I felt, learning he had feelings for my fiancée, not to mention all the kissing between him and her. Makaila had admitted this much to me last night.

“What do you mean she spent the night with you?”

He knew exactly what I’d meant, but if he wanted me to spell it out or paint him a picture, I would be glad to do just that.

“Without giving you all the details, Bella and I had a night where we pleasured each other until she went to sleep in my arms.”

He came up off the couch at a quickened pace and knocked me off my feet. He threw down a few punches before I maneuvered myself on top of him.

“Chill out, Alex.” I punched him and he flew backwards.

“Why should I huh, Adam? You come in here bragging about your night with her, knowing how I feel.”

I sat up, trying to catch my breath, silently hoping for a cease fire. “The fact of the matter is I had her first, you are my brother, and
she is my pregnant fiancée that you took advantage of when we were going through a difficult time.”

“Oh, you mean the time you left her high and dry?”

“Yeah, that was my biggest mistake, Alex. Look, I’m sorry bro, but I love her and will fight my dying breath to protect and have her in my life. I told her in so many words last night. It is her choice on who to love. If she chooses you, then I will have to find some way to deal with that. Nevertheless, you have to know that your love for her is some hillbilly type bullshit. I mean what are you going to want my baby to call you? You’re technically his or her uncle, but will also be his or her step dad. Hey, what if we call you Uncle Daddy! You would be the true definition of that.” I laughed.

He shook his head, “Adam, like I said before you are not going to come here and make me feel some type away about my love for her. Nonetheless, you are right. She has to choose. Like you, I will respect her decision. May the best brother win.”

Summertime had come and gone. Leaves, in an array of colors decorated the ground.

“Makaila, are you ready?” Mr. Garett called out. I had told anyone who listened, that I was Makaila Lily Windstorm, and required everyone to call me by my real name. It was nice to finally not have to be anyone else, but myself. I took a deep breath and stood to look in the full-length mirror. I was wearing a custom-made wedding dress. It was sleeveless and backless. The color was ivory and the style was bohemian. The dress fit me just right. It had enough room for the seven-month going on eight month baby bump. The dress was a free-flowing material, enough room for baby and me. I feel like mother earth, better yet my future husband’s queen.

I turned toward Ms. Brenda, who already was in tears. “Watching you cry is going to make me cry.” I wearily said.

She replied, “I can’t help it, you are so beautiful. Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day.” She reached over onto the vanity and got my veil that was made of lace. She fitted it around my crown that was pinned to my braided up-do.

“Perfect,” she said and turned me around to glance in the mirror. Taking in our appearance, I saw our beautiful brown skin tone, and similar features, and for a moment, I wished I could call her my mother. She must have been feeling the same way. Because she kissed me on my cheek and told me how much she loved me like the daughter she never had.

Quickly the make-up artist came back in to touch up our faces. After that I grabbed my white and pink lily bouquet and opened the door to a patiently waiting Mr. Garett.

“As long as you took, I thought you were having a case of cold feet.” He cocked his head to the side, giving me a sideways smile.

“Never that, sir, I’ve made up my mind and there is no going back.” I said to him and I had. There was nothing that I wanted more than to become Mrs. De Luca. I smiled big and bright at that thought. We started walking down the hall.

Mr. Garett stopped us before we got to the big French double doors. “You look absolutely stunning young lady. All the way from the crown of your head to the flats on your feet. You’re a sight for sore eyes.” I could see that he was holding back tears, as was I.

“Oh no! The two of you didn’t get us this far only to start crying at my wedding. We just got our make-up done.” Ms. Brenda lightly tapped Mr. Garett on the shoulder.

They opened the door, I took their extended hands, and I walked in the middle of the two of them. For my wedding venue, we had carefully chosen a lovely garden filled with rows of flowers. The smell was wonderful and the view was incredible. I just knew this was the perfect place. There were angel statues covering what the meadows of flowers did not. It felt like we were in a little piece of heaven with angels watching us. We made our way to where the wedding party and guests aligned the garden. I was more than ready to become husband and wife.

The violin began to play as we approached the white aisle. My hands began to shake, not with nerves, but with anticipation. The guests stood, anxious to see the bride. In the sea of people, I see the De Luca’s family matriarch, Sara and patriarch, Angelo. They had made their way from Italy, to the states to meet me, the love of their sons’ lives. We had a bumpy start, since both of their sons confessed to love me. I was sure if I weren’t pregnant, Sara and Angelo would have kicked my ass to the curb. The baby, my saving grace bought me time to win them both over. Eventually, they grew to love me. In the crowd, I also saw the two people who I hadn’t seen in over a decade. My sisters, Maci and Maddi, were right here in the front row with tears of joy on their faces. Time has been on their sides. Both were as beautiful as ever and dressed to the nines.

Maci was wearing a soft pink, past the knee, form fitting dress that shows off her fit and fabulous body, while Maddi chose an off the shoulder nude wrap dress. She looked happy, they both do. We had talked on the phone several times after my kidnapping, but this wedding was the first time that I have laid eyes on them in years. By Maci’s side was her husband, Jordan, who had been with her since they were teenagers. Two small beautiful children, one in his arms and the other tugging at his leg, come from their blessed union. Filling the rest of the seats were business associates of the De Luca’s. Dr. Q, attended. We wanted her to deliver baby, De Luca. Even though she was not an obstetrician, she had been here from the very beginning, and we wanted her to see us through the birth of this child. All the employees from Ava’s Tasty Treats and Eats attended as well. I didn’t hold anything against them. I was convinced they were good people.

And at the very end, standing under a large bronze metal arch, which was decorated with purple wisteria flowers growing on vines that covered the gigantic archway, was my tall husband to be. He was wearing an all-black, tailored tuxedo with an ivory tie to match my wedding gown. His muscular body filled out the suit well. His hair had been freshly cut into a taper fade and his beard had been trimmed to a medium length stubble. He was the definition of what a fine ass man was supposed to look like. His riveting blue eyes, gloss over, ogling me from where I stood. His smile showed all those sparkling white teeth. He could so be a spokesperson for good dental hygiene.

It felt like I was floating on clouds, as I made my way down the aisle. Mr. Garett and Ms. Brenda let go of my hands. Both kissed me on my cheek before they took their seats. Adam placed my hand in his and we took the small steps toward the pastor. Pastor Joe Smith had seen us grow spiritually and helped us heal from our heartache and pain. After leaving that note for Adam, I did some soul searching and came to the reality that I was deeply in love with him. I just couldn’t get over the hurt he had caused. That hurt had led me to an unexpected love for Alex. I spent a day with Alex explaining to him how I felt. He was hurt to know that I didn’t love him the same way he loved me. I also told him that I planned on getting back with Adam and becoming a family. He expressed his anger, but in the end, he hesitantly accepted it and now he was here to bless the union of his brother and me.

“Dearly beloved we are gathered here today…” The Pastor read the traditional wedding ceremony vows and we happily recited each and every word. We kissed to seal our union and jumped as best as this pregnancy belly would allow over the broom.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Giovanni De Luca,” Pastor Smith, announced as we ran through the crowd. Butterflies of all different colors were released into the garden, signaling how our love has grown out of its cocoon to spread its wings all over God’s green earth.

The reception was held at the restaurant Adam famously named after my alias, “Bella.” He offered to change the name to Makaila, but I refused. Being Bella had taught me a lot about myself. I learned that I was strong, intelligent, and beautiful. Most of all I learned to love all of me. I had survived so much in the last few months. A car crash and being kidnapped and beaten to death could have ended my life as well as the life of my unborn child. But through it all, we survived.

The name Bella was fitting for a restaurant that held so much beauty. The reception area was lit
up with crystals and bright lights. Tall vases held flowers that I recognized from our first date. We danced and toasted our night away. While I couldn’t enjoy the champagne, the sparkling cider suited me just fine.

“Mrs. Makaila Lily De Luca you are the sexiest woman my eyes have ever seen.” My husband whispered to me in my ear, guiding me along on the dance floor.

I stepped back to catch his eyes, so he could see all this body. “Even with the big round pregnancy belly?” I asked him.

“You are sexier because inside of you there is a part of me. You have been strong and protective of what we have created. I am so proud and honored to call you my wife.” He bent down and kissed me with all the passion his words could convey.

I smiled, knowing that we have defied the odds against us. I’m not one to speak ill of the dead, but what Ava had pulled really tore us apart. I had no idea how evil that woman was. Adam had filled me in on the malicious details of what she had done to me, causing the accident and all the antics she went around doing trying to gain Adam’s heart. Not to mention, teaming up with my abusive, now dead ex-husband.

I looked over Adam’s shoulder to see my sister storming off from an intense argument with her husband. I prayed that whatever it was would work itself out. “How about I take you out of here, so I can show you how you really make me feel.” He said taking my hand and rubbing it up against his hardness.

“Adam!” I gasped. “People are staring.”

His eyes filled up with mischief, “Il mio amore, there is nothing wrong with a husband showing his wife how much she is loved.”

Adam put his hand out. “Now, unless you really want to give our guests a show, I suggest you take your husband’s hand and let him have his way with you.” I did just that, taking my husband’s hand as we hurriedly escaped the wedding party to enjoy our new life. We are going to happily relish in these last few weeks together, before the baby will make three. And to think I was once a little girl looking out the window, wishing on a lucky star to have a life filled with love and happiness. I grew up thinking that day would never come. I lived through struggles, hardships, and pain, yet I kept moving forward, and I never gave up. My wish as that little girl looking out the window had come true. My life now is not the same. I have the love of a strong alpha male, his family and mine, and most importantly the love of God because without him none of this would be possible.
