From Alpha to Omega
Page 30
Suddenly Brogan went from scared and weepy to angry and defiant, “You lie, Cade. You have never tried to make this bond work. Yeah, you went through the motions but unless it had to do with the touch therapy, you didn’t try. You left me on my own and took away people who would have made it easier.”
“What the fuck did I take away from you Brogan? I gave you the freedom you desired but because you insisted on hanging onto your Alpha all you felt was the constraints. I know that you gave up a lot, but I didn’t choose this outcome nature did. I guess it’s good that I learned to take care of myself because had I been your Omega my life would have been pure hell.”
Brogan stood up to his full height and stepped closer to Cade in what Cade read as an attempt to intimidate. Cade has put stronger Alphas on their asses, and Brogan included and any other time he would have found the action cute, but not today.
“Stand down Omega!” Cade growled.
He watched Brogan swallow before continuing.
“You think that you were being the best Alpha, you left me floundering and didn’t care if I was okay or not. The only time I’ve ever thought you were helping me was that episode with Paige. You took my family away, and then you not only helped but you signed a contract with the man who tried to rape me and make me his. If you were truly my Alpha you would have known that I was distressed.”
“Why the fuck do you think that Benji showed up so much? I knew that you wouldn’t accept anything from me, but I made sure that you were protected. Even though you closed your end of the bond, I felt each time you were in distress, especially when we were in Florida, but you never once tried to reach me through the bond. If your Omega hadn’t reached out to my Alpha, I would have never known.”
“Cade…,” Brogan said softly.
“If you had told me Brogan, about Jaden there’s no way that motherfucker would ever walk free again, let alone sit there grinning in my fucking face while he’s trying to steal you from me, but you didn’t, I had to find that out on my own. No, from the beginning you went to your family, your sister and your brother all helped you trick me and then your goddamned father helped you kill my child, yet here we are again same song, different verse.”
“No Cade, this is not the same. I want this. You, our baby, I want to be your mate.”
The longing in Brogan’s voice was working because Cade felt himself wavering. Those puppy dog eyes and visions of what could be were wrapping around his heart and making his inner Alpha want to reclaim his mate. The bond that he had closed off the past week was overwhelming him with emotions that he wasn’t ready for, but he powered on.
“Prove it!”
Cade watched as Brogan stood up and slowly removed the clothes he’d just put on. With each inch of skin that was revealed, Cade felt his Alpha clawing to get his hands on it, but he waited. Brogan has gone down this road before and made him feel as though they were starting over.
When they left Florida, Cade felt as though he had the world in in his hands only to have it all crash and burn ending with him losing a child, he hadn’t even known he wanted until Samantha had passed that ultrasound in his hands.
He was pulled out of his thoughts when Brogan kneeled in front of him with his head down, knees spread, and his fingers clasped behind his back in the classic Omega presentation. Please let this mean what he thinks it does, that this time Brogan is giving himself to Cade, not Cade taking something that does not want to be given.
“Brogan?” Cade whispered in disbelief.
“Please, Alpha,” Was Brogan’s answer.
At that response, Cade removed his clothes and hurriedly walked around Brogan’s long body to take in the offering. Once he stood behind Brogan Cade inhaled and was overwhelmed by the delicious scent coming from Brogan.
It was one thing for Brogan to say that he wanted Cade but standing there behind him scenting him and watching as his hole twitches and pouring slick, Cade knew that he was wanted by this beautiful creature bowed down before him.
He wanted to go slow and worship Brogan’s golden body, but not this time. Later he would, but right now he just wanted to slip into that warm hole and tie them together.
It would be wonderful to step behind him, but Cade had the presence of mind to move them to the bed because once they tied, and they would tie- it would be uncomfortable post orgasm.
Once they were on the bed, Cade quickly prepped Brogan and soon found himself buried deep in that warm wet hole.
The was different from any time they had coupled, even in Florida. Today Brogan was not holding anything back, he was moaning and begging for more and when Cade’s knot formed Brogan came and his twitching channel forced Cade’s orgasm.
When the orgasm ripped through Cade, the Alpha leaned forward and nuzzled Brogan’s neck before biting down re-staking his claim.
Brogan drifted off to sleep leaving Cade alone in his thoughts. He wasn’t sure what their future held, but one thing he was sure of was they would face it together.
The End
Dear Reader,
Cade and Brogan’s story doesn’t end here, please read the first chapter and watch as Brogan learns to be an Omega.
Brogan Ford ran his hand over his baby bump and smiled. The fact that he was pregnant still boggled his mind because a few months ago he was a card-carrying, knot-having Alpha. A trip to a bar, a sweet scent and now here he was knocked up and living under another Alpha’s thumb.
He looked at the ID card he’d had to present to the driver of the Omega Car Service to prove that he was an Omega as though the red Omega brand on his right hand didn’t serve as proof. The ID read, Brogan Ford. Cooper. He keeps forgetting that part, and that's because in his mind it should be Cade Cooper Ford, but that's semantics right. Either way, he was bonded to someone he’d have never chosen for himself.
Letting out a huff of breath when the driver stopped in front of Sports Related, he took in the changes that he didn’t get to help incorporate. The business was in the process of moving to a larger building and changing its name to reflect the new clientele that was seeking them out. There was a time when he was excited about coming to this building for work. The company began seven almost eight years ago by Brogan and his friends after an Ultimate Frisbee game.
From the moment they realized that they could make something out of their fledgling company Brogan had practically lived in the first little office space they’d set up shop. But this was the first time in almost five months that he had set foot in the building, and soon it and all its memories would be gone.
If he had his way he wouldn’t be here today, but he had a doctor’s appointment because he was entering his second trimester and he had to make a decision about how he wanted to give birth, in his wolf form or human. Brogan knew that he wanted it to be in his human form because he’d have to spend the last month as a wolf if he - Cade chose that method and he couldn’t go that long without talking to someone even if it was Cade.
He could tell his doctors which form his preference was, but he was an Omega and couldn’t be relied on to make a rational decision. Omegas were hormonal anyway but add in the extra dose of estrogen from the pregnancy, well sex was the only decisive decision they could be trusted to make.
There were times when he hated being an Omega - okay he hated it all the time but sometimes were worse than others. Like now. The driver opened the door for him because he doesn’t want to tax Brogan’s brain with figuring out how the lever works to open said door.
Fucking idiot.
Before he walked into the building, Brogan steeled himself for the barrage of hate he was going to face inside. Once upon a not so long time ago Brogan had been an Alpha, big strong and virile and had been allowed to think for himself. Those Omega bitches who now belittled him had cowered in his wake, then he met Cade. Apparently, the gods decided that they belonged together and made them soul mates so that when they met, Cade fucked Brogan over figuratively and literally turning Brogan into an Omega.
Alpha Brogan had been a bit of an asshole, and there are those who say that Omega Brogan wasn’t much better. Those who remembered won’t let him forget and allow him to try to be a better Omega, and they reminded him each time they saw him. That was why Brogan didn’t want to go inside the building, but he couldn’t put it off any longer.
He had begged Cade to meet him at the doctor’s office, but Cade wanted lunch first, and that meant going inside Sports Related. The air outside was a little chilly, so Brogan pulled his coat tighter as though donning protective armor and went inside.
When he walked into the building, Brogan looked neither left nor right just straight ahead, but that didn’t mean that he didn’t see the pointed fingers or hear the snickering. He steeled himself not to react because if he did, then he would just be called hormonal or an overly sensitive O.
On the short ride up to the second floor, not for the first time, Brogan rubbed his slightly distended belly and prayed that this baby was an Alpha. If it was, he would do his part and make sure that he or she learned how to treat an Omega. No one should have to live as a second-class citizen. It’s too bad he didn’t discover this earlier.
Some days are better than others, and he’d go an entire day without comparing what his life was like before Cade. As he made his way down the hall to his - no Cade’s office where he was assailed with memories of his old life when he would receive a telephone call and be on some little island drinking beer while chasing down an athlete for the company.
Now he can’t even order a beer for himself.
Cade wasn’t in his office, the one that used to belong to Brogan before they bonded. Now like everything else in Brogan’s life it has been redecorated and gone was the sports posters, the autographed pictures of Brogan with world class athletes. There had been a television with the latest gaming system that he and Tate would spend hours on using the excuse he needed to know how to play to court the athlete he wanted to sign.
Cade was less showy than Brogan had been.
When their clients were jumping ship during the time Brogan ran from Cade, his mate began bringing in non-sports related clientele and saved the business. They still dealt mostly with athletes, but now more traditional clients were now seeking them because of Cade’s brilliance. Because of his clients, Cade had a traditional office with vintage framed advertising posters on the wall, and the rest was a sedate, comfortable office where Brogan would have never been able to work.
Despite the excuse he’d given the others, Brogan used the gaming system to keep him from getting bored, and he and Tate had epic tournaments, but now he rarely talked to Tate. He missed his friend.
Tate’s office was just down the hall, and there was a time when Brogan wouldn’t have thought twice about barreling down the hall and interrupt whatever his friend was doing. Now he wasn’t sure if Tate would acknowledge his presence, after all he’d been the most vocal of all the partners when Brogan had been turned.
“Sorry I’m late,” Cade apologized as he hurriedly walked through the door. “Our meeting ran late because Tate wouldn’t shut up.”
Brogan remembered those days.
The excitement of the last-minute meeting, brainstorming ideas and reminding Tate that his taste factor was questionable because a half-naked girl didn’t work for every campaign.
“I’m ready if you are,” Brogan told Cade not wanting to stay there any longer than he had to.
“Give me just a moment I need to send a quick e-mail and then we can leave,” Cade told him as he slid into the chair behind his desk.
What was Brogan going to do, say no? He had fucked up so badly in the past that he was scared to say boo and have Cade decide that he made a mistake not severing their bond and leaving him at the Omega Center, so he sat back and waited for Cade.
While Cade furiously typed away, Brogan looked at the huge pile of mail on the desk and sat up when he saw his name on a letter. At first, he was going to ask Cade about it, but instead, he reached up and took the letter and slipped it into his coat pocket.
“Brogan!” Cade’s voice boomed over Brogan’s thundering heart.
Did he see Brogan take the letter? If so, what would he do? He could be a bastard and make Brogan give birth in wolf form and at the thought of that Brogan asked himself if the letter was worth a month of not talking.
“Brogan!” Cade called his name again, and he trembled this time hoping that the repercussion wouldn’t be that bad. “Have you decided where you want to eat?”
“I haven’t. Um, how about The Trattoria? It has been a long time since I’ve eaten there,” Brogan chose Cade’s favorite restaurant as he willed his heartbeat to slow down. If he didn’t Cade would pick up his stress over the bond and demand to know what was wrong and Brogan wasn’t sure he could lie.
When Cade’s phone alerted him that he had a new text, Brogan used the distraction to place the letter back on the desk. Everyone knew he was an Omega now so there was nothing he could do with it other than dream about who he was in a former life.
“That sounds wonderful, it’s been awhile since I’ve had Italian,” Cade agreed, and Brogan felt his Alpha’s contentment over the bond.
Of course, Cade was content, Brogan offered up the place that Cade wanted to go, but what if Brogan had wanted Chinese would Cade had let him choose the restaurant or would he have ‘steered’ him towards The Trattoria?
Brogan had made his own decisions before he and Cade met, he didn’t understand why that had to change now that he was an Omega. He couldn’t seem to make anyone understand that just because his biology changed, his brain hadn’t ceased to function.
There was a time he could have had others on his side, but he’d ruined that when he ran away to be with his dad. Now that he was back everyone looked at him differently than they had before. Now not only did they think that he was now stupid, they thought that he was a flight risk.
Before he was turned, he had friends - good friends - now they wouldn’t talk to him without Cade’s permission. He could make friends with Omegas he supposed, but most Omegas hated him because of his attitude towards their gender when he was an Alpha, but it didn’t matter anyway.
Most Alphas didn’t want him near their Omegas in fear that he might incite them to revolt like the Omegas did when they were little more than slaves. Now that Brogan was an Omega, he realized that they weren't that far removed from slavery, they just had the illusion of freedom.
There had been some changes made under the leadership of the current President, but with the President elect, he wasn’t sure if the changes would stand. The President elect wanted to go back to the good old days where Omegas were leashed in public and could only shift during the full moon.
Already people were changing their stance on Omega rights and weren’t biting their tongues about how they felt. They believed that Omegas couldn’t think for themselves and couldn’t Iive alone without the guidance of Alphas and Betas. It seemed that it didn’t matter to them if Omegas were treated as second class citizens as long as Alphas and Betas weren’t affected.
He wasn’t going to change anything today, tomorrow either, so Brogan slid into the car next to Cade to try to enjoy a pasta lunch when he now had a taste for Chinese.
Lunch had gone well, the doctor tried to convince Cade to force Brogan into giving birth in his wolf form citing studies that it would be better for the Omega and the pup, but Cade felt his distress and sided with Brogan and chose human birth. Brogan had never been so grateful for anything in his life and tried to keep the giddiness to himself, but Cade’s smile told him he felt Brogan’s happiness.
The happiness carried over when Cade called the Omega Car Service to arrange to pick Brogan up from the doctor's office rather than the office. When he arrived home, he was tired, but a walk was for the dogs who all but brought their leashes to him.
“Come on you silly mutts,” Brogan encouraged his dogs after their long walk. He and his next-door neighbor Issa had just returned from thei
r walk to the park. At five months pregnant, Brogan had given up running, so he took the longer walks to have a regular cardio regime.
He had always been conscious about his health and had often spent long hours in the gym, but that was before the change. Before he became an Omega, his exercise was for his health, and he was vain enough to like the attention that the Beta’s gave him, but now he exercised for a different reason.
His father, the man who’d instilled into his brain that Omegas were worthless and no good had somehow managed to lodge himself in his brain. Even though he knew that the man was wrong, he could still hear him saying, make ‘em work hard; no one wants a fat O.
Even though he was pregnant, Brogan was nowhere near overweight, but he didn’t want to become fat, and that’s why he made sure that he kept up his appearance by taking the longer walks and eating healthy. He didn’t want to give Cade a reason to get rid of him.
