‘No,’ David said. ‘I shouldn’t.’
Abonitu’s eyes were still on Andrew. His face carried an expression of regret. He said:
‘I’m sorry you’re not coming back with us.’
‘Would you answer for my safety if I did?’
‘We are a civilized people.’ He smiled. ‘It may be better, though, to wait for a time. And, after all, this is your home.’
‘Yes,’ Andrew said. He turned from Abonitu to look towards the city. ‘This is my home.’
