Where We Belong: Love Returns Page 16

“Olivia…” Finally finding my voice, I gasp as her fingertips connect with my sex from behind. “Fuck!”

“You like that, huh?” She moans as she stands and unbuttons my blouse.

Olivia’s front once again molding to my back, the only support I have right now is the door I’m forced against.

“You’re so wet for me.” My blouse slips from my shoulders.

“God.” I look up to the heavens.

My free hand now flattened against the cool wood too, Olivia grinds against my ass and fresh arousal gathers between my legs.

“I need to touch you.” I whimper.

“Oh, I don’t think so.” My girlfriend smiles as she runs her fingers down my naked back and grips my ass. My forehead coming to rest against the door, I breathe hard and try to keep myself from hitting the floor. One thing I’m sure of is just how much I’ve missed this woman. She is my everything. “Not yet.”

  “P-Please?” I beg.

“You’ll get your chance, Mati.” Her right hand slips between my legs.

Her left weaving around the front of my body, Olivia forces her hand inside my bra and tugs my nipple. Gasping, pleasure coursing through me, she breathes heavily against my ear and my body responds in every way imaginable.

“I love taking you like this.”

“Y-Yes.” I groan. “Oh, shit.” Her fingers working my entrance, I grind down with the hope of gaining some kind of friction. “I-Inside.” I pant.

“Yeah?” Olivia asks as she runs her fingers through wet heat. “You want me inside?” Her tongue runs up my neck before she takes my earlobe between her teeth. “How much?”

“S-So much.” My eyes slam shut as her delicate fingers circle my clit. “Now, Olivia.”

  “Mm, demanding.”

Forcing my ass back, I widen my stance a little and she slips right inside of me with two fingers. That intense high I crave with my girlfriend is already beginning to build in the pit of my stomach but I never want this moment to end.

“Jesus.” My head thrown back on Olivia’s shoulder, her left hand tugs and teases my nipple. I’ve never felt so connected to her as I do in this moment. Just us. This room. Olivia’s complete attention on me and only me. “More.”

Slipping in a third finger, my hands grip the door. It isn’t possible but I need something. Anything. I’m barely holding on. My girlfriend’s thrusts increasing with every movement, she works my body like never before. It’s hot and it’s dirty…but it’s perfect.

Removing her left hand from my bra, her palm slips down my stomach and two fingers come to rest on my clit. Olivia’s pace suddenly picking up, my world begins to shrink. The walls, they are closing in around me. She’s pounding into me and not once has she let up.

“Beautiful.” Olivia presses a kiss to the back of my neck. “And tight.”

Her words hanging in the air around us, it only fuels my fire. My arousal. Every emotion is heightened but it’s one hell of a feeling. It's intense. So intense that with every breath of hers against my skin, it’s pushing me further towards the edge. My body…it’s shaking.

My breath catching in my throat, I’m not entirely sure where I am in this moment. I’m not in this room, though, or my body. My chest heaving, I ride out my orgasm and my knees begin to buckle. Olivia slips her thigh between my legs, my weakness evident. She is literally the only thing keeping me in an upright position. The moment she moves her leg, I’m gone.

  “Breathe, beautiful.”

Catching my breath, I grip her wrist and still her hand completely. I’m probably the most sensitive I’ve ever been tonight.

“W-What was that for?” I ask, my body still throbbing and aching for everything that Olivia is.

“Just a thank you.” She whispers against my neck.

  “For?”

  “Being mine…”

I don’t want this trip to end. I know it has to and I know that this is just the beginning of something beautiful for us, but I don’t want to leave. I love London and I love the people I’ve met there, but being alone with Olivia has given me the chance to really remember why I loved her as much as I did. It has given me the opportunity to focus my time and attention on her without anything getting in the way.

We have both agreed that the past cannot be changed, and we have both agreed that the only choice is for us to move forward. Honestly, I’m more than ready for that. The idea of joining Olivia in setting up her business in the UK is heartwarming and I know that she can totally thrive with me. I’ve always known that. We bounce off one another. It’s effortless, really.

I didn’t ask her to move to London with me all those months ago for the sake of it. I asked her to join me because I know she can take on any city in the world and make something special. It’s why I’m so drawn to her. It’s why I feel so connected to her. Olivia isn’t someone who steps over everyone else to get what she wants and I knew that from the moment I took a job at her company.

I could see how her staff and her models respected her. I could feel the remarkable atmosphere as I stepped through the warehouse doors, my entire career slung over my shoulder in my camera bag. I knew, and I wanted to be a part of that. I wanted to enjoy my work and my surroundings. Olivia made that happen. She made it happen and from the moment we decided to take things further, I knew I would always be all in. I couldn’t ever imagine myself falling in love with anyone else.

No matter what we’ve been through, both together, and apart, it has made us stronger. It has shown us that our love for one another means more than where you lay your head each night. The fact that Olivia returned at all still seems crazy at times, but she did and she is here with me. In my arms and so very much in my life.

“You’re quiet.” Olivia’s tired voice snaps me out of my daze. “Everything okay?”

  “Of course,” I say reassuringly.

“Feels good lying here with you…”

“It does.” I sigh, my fingertips trailing Olivia’s soft bronzed skin. “Don’t want it to end.”

“It doesn’t have to.” Her hand finds mine. “This doesn’t ever have to end.”

  “I know.”

“You know, I’m ready for London.” Olivia studies my face. “I’m ready to live my life with you.”

“I never thought it would happen.”

“And I know it won’t be like it used to be…you know, doing all of it together, but knowing I will come home to you each night is good enough for me.”

  “I don’t follow…”

“You have a job. You have your people in London.”

“But now I have you.” I turn to face my girlfriend better. “Isn’t that what you want?”

“You working with me?” She arches her eyebrow. “It’s all I want.”

“Then we can make that happen.” My brow creasing a little, Olivia chooses not to go any deeper into the conversation she has begun. “What’s up?”

“You can’t just leave the job you have, Mati. I also wouldn’t expect you to.”

  “Rebecca will understand.”

  “I’ll be the enemy.”

“You will always be someone’s enemy, Liv. That comes with the job.” I give her a sad smile. “And why do you care? Your business is your life.”

“It is…or was.” She says. “And you being at the company you’re at now is the whole reason you moved to London. It wouldn’t make sense to come back to me.”

“Was?” I ask, waiting for my girlfriend to elaborate and choosing to forget about the small matter of my reasons for leaving the US.

“I’ve realized that other things are more important.” She laces our fingers. “Other things being you. Our relationship. Our happiness.”

“I don’t want you to change who you are…”

“I don’t plan to.” She smiles. “But, whether we work together or not no longer matters to me. You have set yourself up in London and I’m not about to come on in and stomp all over it.”

&n
bsp; “God, I wish you would.”

“All I’m saying is that we should just take it one day at a time.” She leans in, her lips grazing my own. “Nothing has to be rushed. Setting up my business included…and you have a good thing going at the office right now.”

“So, what did you have in mind?”

“Take my time.” Olivia shrugs. “Maybe get Christmas out the way first. New year, new start…all that.”

“It does sound like a good idea.” I chew the inside of my mouth. “Just because…”

  “Because what?”

“You could change your mind.” I clear my throat.

She’s told you she’s staying. Just trust that. Trust her.

“Hey.” Olivia shifts closer. “That isn’t going to happen. You know it’s not.”

“I’m sorry.” I internally chastise myself for doubting us. Again. “I need to get out of this mood.”

“I understand that you probably don’t trust me, but believe me when I tell you I’m not going anywhere.”

“I do trust you,” I say, assertively.

  “Promise?”

“Damn right.” I snuggle closer to Olivia. “It was never about not trusting you. I just don’t want this to all fall apart and you resent me for moving your life to please me.”

“I’d do anything for you.” She presses a kiss to the top of my head. “And I should’ve told you that a long time ago.”

“God, I’m so ready for this.”

“Mm, me too.” Olivia wraps me up in her strong arms. “I guess I’ve always been ready. I just needed a push.”

“Everything works out in the end, huh?”

“It does.” My girlfriend agrees. “Tomorrow is our last full day here and I’d like you to come somewhere with me…”

  “Where?”

“Just a place mom and I used to spend our days.” Olivia’s voice is laced with emotion. “I think Spain could be where I say my goodbye to her.”

  “Spain?”

“It’s just where I feel closest to her.” Her voice breaks. “Mom spent so much time here, and I know my dad was Spanish. I guess she just kept coming back, hoping she would one day see him again.”

“You never talk about your dad.” This is new.

“Because I don’t know who he is.” The disappointment is evident in Olivia’s voice. “When mom told him she was pregnant, he ran. Disappeared.”

  “I’m sorry.”

“I’m not.” She shrugs. “Mom was awesome doing things alone.”

“Yeah, she was.” I glance up to find my girlfriend staring at the ceiling. “You are the perfect example of that.”

“That’s sweet.” She tightens her grip around my body. “Spain was important to mom and I know that I will always feel close to her here.”

“Then Spain remains important to us, too.”

“Yeah?” A smile curls on Olivia’s lips. “You mean that?”

  “I do.” I nod.

“How the hell did I ever find you?”

“Guess it was just meant to be,” I smirk. “Written in the stars…” I say sarcastically.

“You just had to ruin the moment, didn’t you?”

“Yup.” I laugh. “Isn’t it what I do best?”

“Everything you do is best.” Olivia pushes me down onto my back and her body rests on mine. “Everything.” She brushes a few stray strands of hair from my face. “And I know, that down the line…ruining moments or not, I will still love you more than I do today.”

“More than today, huh?” My hand grips the back of Olivia’s neck.

  “So much more…”

  Chapter Eighteen

  Olivia

Today is supposed to be the day when Mati and I visit a place I used to spend time at with my mom. Sure, it’s still the plan, but I’ve woken up this morning to find a text message waiting for me. From Nadia. I don’t know how I feel about it but I know that Mati is right. I should meet with her. I should listen to what she has to say. Why? Because I’ve spent the past six months wondering why my supposed best friend just disappeared from my life.

It isn’t such a big deal now, now that I have Mati back…but at the time, it was. When I was at my lowest, I needed my then best friend. She always knew the right thing to say. She got me, you know? I understand that people change, but it was too sudden. How she just refused my calls. How she completely vanished from my life. Our friendship. It left me feeling more alone than ever, so yeah…I want the answers Mati believes I could gain from our meeting.

My girlfriend has always been the type of person to give someone a second chance. I guess I should be thankful for that though since I’m one of those people. I needed that second chance from Mati, but I’m not so sure Nadia needs that from me. I truly believe that had she not caught me at the coffee shop, she wouldn’t have contacted me any time soon. I could be wrong, but my gut instinct is generally correct. Why would now be any different?

“You good?” Mati asks as we arrive outside the coffee shop.

“Yeah.” I clear my throat. “The sooner we get inside, the sooner we can leave.”

“Maybe try to be a little more enthusiastic?” My girlfriend raises her eyebrow.

“Uh, you didn’t even want to be here…” Scoffing, I shake my head. “I’m sorry.”

“No, you’re right.” Mati holds up her hand. “I didn’t want to be here…but that is because I thought it would be best discussed alone.”

“I can’t do this without you here.” I breathe out. “I’ve no idea what she is about to throw at me so I need your support.”

  “And you have that.”

“Besides, I’m sure Lauren will be with her.” I roll my eyes and Mati gives me a confusing look. “What?”

“You seem a little bothered by the fact that Nadia has a girlfriend.”

  “Bothered?” I snort. “No.”

  “Sure.”

Heading inside, our hands gripping one another for dear life, Mati glances back at me and stops before we reach the table Nadia is currently sitting at.

  “What?” I ask.

  “Nadia is alone, Liv.”

  “So?”

“So, maybe I should take a separate table. You know, like I’m here for you but I’m not?” My lack of conversation tells Mati all she needs to know. “Or not?”

“Exactly.” I laugh. “Anything Nadia has to say…she can say it with you by my side.”

“I don’t imagine she really has anything to say that I shouldn’t hear, but yeah, I think I’ll stick around.”

Catching the barista’s attention, I place our drinks order and move to the other end of the counter. I know Mati doesn’t like to get involved in other people’s business but I really do need her here with me for this. Not because I’m not capable of looking out for myself, but because I’m not sure I’m mentally stable enough to deal with whatever Nadia throws at me.

I know I’m working myself up for nothing and I know that I haven’t done anything which would result in my ex-best friend hating me, but I’m so unsure about this meeting that it’s beginning to get the better of me.

“I’m feeling a little nervous right now,” I admit as Mati steps up beside me.

“Why?” She squeezes my hand, her brow furrowed.

“I don’t know.” I sigh, dropping my gaze to the counter in front of us. “It’s just been so long since we’ve spoken and I genuinely don’t know where I went wrong.”

“Well, you’re about to find out.” Mati glances over my shoulder. “She’s watching us.”

“Ugh.” That’s all I can give her right now.

“Look, if things get a little heated, you can stand up and walk away. I will be right behind you. You know that.”

“You don’t know how much it means to me that you’re here for this.”

Mati simply acknowledges what I’ve just said with a slight nod of her head and a small smile. I’m not sure she really wants to be here, but it’s too late for either of us to turn back no
w. We just couldn’t.

“You ready to do this?” Mati asks as the barista sets our drinks down. “No time like the present, right?”

  “I guess so…”

She leans in and kisses me. “Come on, beautiful.”

Making our way over to Nadia, my girlfriend pulls out a chair for me and motions for me to take a seat as she greets my old friend. Relaxing a little as my girlfriend sits beside me, I glance up at Nadia and she gives me the smallest of smiles.

“Hey.” I clear my throat. “Leanne not joining us?”

“Oh, no.” Nadia disagrees. “I thought it would just be you and I.”

I don’t know what kind of response she expects to that comment.

“So, you wanted to meet?” I ask a little abruptly.

“Y-Yeah.” Nadia looks between me and Mati. “Just wanted to catch up.”

“That’s it?” I scoff. “You want to catch up?” Laughing, I stand and straighten myself out. “Come on, Mati.”

  “Wait!” Nadia pleads. “I’m sorry.”

  “For what?”

“For everything.” She sighs. “Just…please sit back down.”

Doing as Nadia asks, Mati places her hand on my thigh and gives it a reassuring squeeze. I know this meeting is pointless but the coffee is good so I guess we could stay a while longer.

“I’ve just been dealing with things. I know it’s no excuse but I am truly sorry, Liv.”

“I’ve been dealing too, Nadia. I just needed you to pick up the phone and call me.” She knows she’s hurt me, but does she actually care?

“I couldn’t be there for you…” Nadia closes her eyes. “I knew how good things were with you and Mati. I just…I was jealous. I hated reading all about your whirlwind romance.”

“Nadia, you would’ve always been my best friend. What I have with Mati is totally different.”

“T-That’s not what I mean.” She shakes her head. “I was jealous of your relationship.”

“Why?” I ask, completely bewildered. “There was nothing to be jealous about.”

“I wanted to be that person.” Nadia’s eyes momentarily flicker towards Mati but my girlfriend simply sits back and listens. “I’d spent so long pushing down my feelings and who I truly was because I was scared. You kissed me and from that moment on, I began pushing you away.” She sighs. “You didn’t even realize I was doing it, but I was.”
