Stepbrother

by Stacy McWilliams

I shuffled backward and stood wobbly as the blood rushed to my head. He appeared by my side and pulled me around for an earth-shattering kiss. He literally took my breath away as he kissed me, and my head swam. I swayed on the spot as he pulled his head away and looked at me, his smile reaching his eyes and showing me the flashes of green that I’d almost forgotten about.

He took my hand and led me into the bathroom, turning the shower on and closing the partition. As the shower heated, he reached behind me and clicked the lock into place before backing me into the door. He grazed my lips with his and sucked my top lip into his mouth, biting down on it before sucking it again. My body started to respond and I wrapped my arms around him, one around his shoulder, feeling the muscles bunch as he moved closer to me and the other around his ass, feeling it tighten as he became more aroused.

He lifted my arms and pulled my tank over my head breaking our kiss only for a second to lift it off. His eyes roamed over me, and he pushed his hips to meet mine. His erection pressed into me, and he lifted me up by my ass, walking me backward until my back hit the cold glass of the shower door. I half moaned, half yelped.

He opened the door and guided us in, letting the warm water soak over us. The shower had a huge silver head and the water soon soaked us both. He sucked my nipple into his mouth as he rocked into me. The feeling of him inside me without a condom on was incredible, but I knew it was dangerous.

I ran my nails down his back hard, and he pushed in harder. I forgot after a second about safety, about unplanned pregnancies, or about anything other than the feel of his incredible body as he made love to me in the shower. As we moved together, I could feel a tightening in my core and I exploded around him, biting into his shoulder as I came hard. He followed a second later, and we both caught our breath.

As we stood under the water, garnering our breath there was a knock at my door and my mom’s voice called out.

“Bailey, our trip was canceled. We’re back, come downstairs when you’re ready.” I moaned a curse as Coop stood frozen holding my legs.

“Sure, Mom,” I called out and I leaned over pressing my lips to just below Coop’s ear. He shuddered and murmured in my ear, “Shit, Bails, my workout clothes are out there. We didn’t hide anything.”

I pressed my lips to his and he shuddered again.

“Fuck if we get caught…” I pressed harder, and he gave in as I licked his lips, his tongue darted out to meet me.

  “It’s okay, we’ve got this.”

He kissed me again and then stepped away from me. He grabbed my soap and lathered it up, running his hands all over me as he washed me. I did the same to him, and he washed my hair, running his fingers all over my scalp.

I almost had an orgasm just from his sensual touch, but knowing my mom and Shawn were in the house put a dampener on it and I stepped out of the shower drying quickly, before passing Coop the towel. As I wrapped another towel around my head my whole body thrummed at our closeness and Coop pressed his lips to my neck splaying his hand across my stomach as he stared at us in the mirror.

There was a sadness he couldn’t hide in his eyes as he looked at us and I couldn’t understand why looking at us standing together would make pain appear in his eyes. He handed me back my towel and pushed me towards the door. He stepped back into the shower, even though it was off and pushed up on the ceiling above it. It opened, and he grabbed me for a quick kiss, whispering, “Now you know how I get in here when you lock me out.”

I smiled at him and realized that all the times I’d locked him out he’d always left something in my room for me. I watched as his ass disappeared through the ceiling before I wrapped my towel firmly around me and left the bathroom. I wasn’t surprised to see my mom and Shawn standing in my room.

“Where’s Coop?” my mom asked, and I glanced at my unmade bed seeing his gym clothes hiding just out of sight.

“I dunno, have you checked his room?” Both parents narrowed their eyes at me, and I shrugged walking over to my dresser. I’d been good at having a mask on recently and I just needed to emulate that now.

My whole body shuddered and I decided to play the teenager card, I turned around to stare at them and gave them both a glare. “Coop is clearly not here, so can you leave me to get dressed.” I turned back to my dresser and pulled some clothes out, but both parents didn’t move. A door slammed from somewhere far off and both parents turned towards the door.

Footsteps sounded out in the hall and there was a tentative knock at my room door.

“Yes,” I hissed out, severely pissed off and frustrated.

“Bailey?” Coop’s voice sounded innocently, “I was just wondering if you had breakfast ’cause I’m gonna be cooking in a minute?” I huffed out a breath.

“Sure, just don’t put onion in your eggs.”

“Fine,” he muttered, and I heard his room door close. I turned and both our parents were standing watching open-mouthed.

I moved back towards the closet when they finally walked towards the door. “Bailey?” my mom’s voice sounded low and worried and I heard the door open and close. I turned to see her standing there. “You’d tell me if something was going on, wouldn’t you?” I nodded at her and ushered her through the door. As I closed the door, I shook my head at how hard it was to lie, but if they suspected something was going on, they’d never leave us alone again.

As soon as their footsteps receded, I went to the bed and saw that the condom wrapper was just under the nightstand. I grabbed it and stuffed it into the packet. Coop’s cell had been shoved under my pillows, so I scooped it out, turning it off. I grabbed his clothes, shoving his workout top into my pillowcase and his shorts and briefs I wrapped up and set them with his cell on my bed.

I had to think about what I was putting on, so I focused on dressing in something that made me look young, choosing a top with my favorite Disney character, Alice in wonderland, on it, and a pair of loose jeans. As soon as I was dressed, I shoved his shorts and cell up into the crawl space that he’d shown me. When I made my way nervously downstairs, he was standing by the stove, cooking. My mom was reading the newspaper, and Shawn was on his laptop.

As I made my way over, I schooled my expression into showing nothing but boredom. I grabbed a coffee cup and made myself a coffee, ignoring the eyes that watched my every move. Coop must have sensed it too because he ignored me so completely that I almost felt frozen out by him. As we sat at the island, his dad spoke.

“The conference has been rescheduled for next weekend. Can we go?” he asked my mom, his eyes dancing between Coop and me as we sat staring in opposite directions. My mom spoke and I glanced at her. “I don’t see why not.”

Her eyes roamed between me and Coop and I shrugged going back to my coffee. I needed more and stood at the same time Coop did. I moved around the table with my cup as he set about gathering the plates. I was so focused on avoiding him that I walked smack bang into him.

“Jeez, Cooper, sorry.” His face turned to me and there was cold hard hatred etched onto every line.

“For fuck’s sake, can’t you just watch where you’re going?”

My mom gasped and Shawn stood.

“Cooper, there was no need for that, Bailey apologized.” He shrugged and pushed by me. I set my cup down on the counter and turned to head upstairs. A second after I left the kitchen my mom caught up with me.

“Bailey, is it always like that with you and him?” I thought about the night he’d cornered me as I answered her.

“No,” I whispered, my voice shaking, “sometimes it’s worse.”

She nodded and glanced towards the kitchen. “Are you afraid of him?” she asked, and I almost laughed.

“No, Mom, he’s alright. Sure, he can be a dick, but what teenage guy isn’t at his age? I just stay out of his way, and we’re good.” She put her hand on my arm.

“Bailey, I just worry. He’s volatile and I want you to tell me straight away if anything happens, okay.”

  I no
dded at my mom placating her as I climbed the stairs. I went into my room and made my bed, before picking up my Kindle and sitting on the window seat. I’d grabbed my cell and put some music on; Ed Sheeran blared through the earphones, making me smile as his melodic voice relaxed me and I focused on the words on my Kindle.

I nodded off in the window seat, waking hours later to the sounds of yelling and arguing. The voices were getting closer to me and I wanted to hide. I didn’t want to deal with whatever was unfolding outside my room. Coop and Shawn were arguing about something. I couldn’t make out what, but my stomach dropped like a stone when I heard the word recording being thrown around.

The footsteps got louder, and I shoved my earphones back in, staring at the window as the door to my room flew open. Rough hands pulled at me and Coop shouted something. I pulled my earphones from my ear, pausing the music I’d just restarted. Shawn was standing over me, his face beyond livid as he stared down at me. He slapped me hard across the face, the sound reverberating around the room, and Coop flew at his dad, pinning him to the wall.

“That isn’t me and her. She is a child. I wouldn’t sleep with a child,” he screamed in his dad’s face. “Jan sent it because she had a crazy idea that I was with her.” He nodded in my direction as my hand held on to my cheek.

“This is serious, you are related!” Shawn bit out and I shrank back away from them. My eyes were wide in terror.

“Coop isn’t my boyfriend. I have a boyfriend at my grandparents’ house. His name’s Jay. I can call him if you want,” I spoke desperately. Coop’s shoulders tensed and I regretted not telling him about Jay. I knew this was gonna cause a huge fight between us, but at that moment I didn’t care. I needed to get us out of our current predicament.

I snatched my cell up and dialed Jay. He knew me well enough to hear the panic in my voice as I spoke to him for a few seconds, and he backed up everything I’d said. He knew that there would have to be a good reason for me to pull the boyfriend card. Shawn handed the cell back to me and looked at both of us sheepishly.

“I’m sorry, kids. I should have trusted you both when you said nothing was going on.” My shoulders relaxed, but Coop’s still stayed tense. He wouldn’t look at me, and he spun on his heel leaving the room before his dad. The rest of the week we didn’t see each other at all because we had to pretend to hate each other, but I missed him.

Every time we got it together something messed it up, and I was getting so tired of fighting for us. Friday night came and Cate was over with Blair. Blair was so big but was in bed by seven p.m. and Cate followed at eight. She didn’t know what had happened, but she knew enough to not ask about us. As Cate closed the door, Coop stood up and I leaned over touching his hand.

He snatched his hand away and pushed up from the sofa.

“Coop,” I whispered, “where are you going?” His face tightened, and he sneered as he glanced in my direction, “Out, what’s it to you?” My face blanched and I could see the pain behind his expression.

“Please, can we just talk?” He shook his head and walked from the room.

I sat there for a moment and then thought, I need a friend; I texted Jay and asked if he was busy. I also texted Coop saying, I know you’re hurting, but so am I. Don’t take this out on me, please.

He didn’t reply but Jay did and within twenty minutes I was in the car making the half-hour drive to see my friend. As soon as I saw him, I flew into his arms, and he held me as I sobbed. I told him what had happened, and he nodded at me, smiling. “Come on, my girl, let’s get you a coffee and a cookie.” My face fell when he mentioned the cookie as I remembered the cookie Coop had presented me, and he amended, “Fine, let’s get a muffin.”

We sat for a few hours and had some great laughs, but I needed to get home. I kept checking my cell but there was no text from Coop and my heart sank like a stone as I climbed into my car and headed for home. I walked into the house and it was quiet, so I climbed to my room and found Coop sitting in the middle of my floor.

“Coop,” I spoke in a hushed whisper. His eyes lifted to meet mine; the pain and betrayal in them made my whole body hurt. I moved towards him, but he scurried back away from me.

“Bailey,” he whispered in a voice that cracked. “How could you…” He couldn’t finish and I moved towards him.

As I sat beside him, I said, “I’ve no idea what I’m supposed to have done to you, but I’m sorry for whatever it was.” I reached out to touch him, and he pulled his hand away. He pushed his cell towards me, and I saw images on the screen. They were of me and Jay sitting in the coffee shop.

“I came back after I got your text. I came home, but you weren’t here. One of my friends texted these to me about half an hour after you left.” His voice was breaking and I knew it looked bad, but Jay was my friend, that was all. You couldn’t see his face, only his head from the back and my face as I hugged him.

“Coop, this isn’t what it looks like.” He nodded at me.

“Of course it isn’t.” His pain broke me, and a tear rolled from my eye as I watched him.

“Of course, it isn’t, I’ve never lied to you or about you, but why would you believe that?” I pushed up, ready to move away from him as he grabbed my hand.

“It’s really not true? You aren’t with him?” I shook my head, and he pulled me down onto his lap.

“He’s my boyfriend for family occasions and I’m his girl for family events, and he’s my best friend. I love him, but I’m not in love with him. There’s only ever been one person I’ve ever been in love with.” I kissed his cheeks and his shudder under me told me he’d missed me as much as I had him. “And I’m currently in his lap.” I pressed my lips to his tasting his salty tears as I sucked on his lip. “Kissing him,” I muttered then I slipped my tongue into his mouth and pressed against his tongue.

He shuddered and kissed me back, and we showed each other with our mouths how much we’d missed each other. His hands slipped down my neck, and he held me in place.

“Bails,” he murmured, moaning as I slipped my hand between us, into his pants and gripped his hard length. As I ran my fingers up and down, he threw his head back and I kissed his neck, sucking and biting the skin gently.

His moans of pleasure encouraged me, and I found my rhythm. One of his hands was splayed on my back and the other on my neck as I ran my fingers gently up and down his length. As his breathing sped up, his cock twitched in my hands, and then as it throbbed, he climaxed, coating my fingers.

We sat for a few minutes and I looked in fascination at his flushed face. His breathing was hard as he spoke, “God, Bails, the things you do to me.” He struggled to control his breathing. “That was the hottest hand-job I’ve ever had.” He brought his lips to mine, exploring my mouth with his tongue. After a few minutes, while he slipped his fingers down my shorts and stroked me, he moved his lips to my neck and pressed hot feverish kissing along my collarbone.

He slipped his fingers into my panties, just as we heard a door slam in the distance, and we breathlessly broke apart. His fingers still pressed into me and I ground on his hand, but footsteps broke us from our lust-filled haze, and we broke apart rushing into the bathroom. As he climbed up into the loose tile, I washed my face and scrubbed the light makeup I was wearing off. I glanced up and saw he’d closed the hatch so it was invisible.

I was braiding my hair when my room door was knocked on and I went over and opened it to see my mom standing on the other side. She smiled at me and I walked to the dresser, feeling the cool moisture on my panties and feeling a little uncomfortable. I walked back into the bathroom and changed into my pj’s.

My cell chirped as I was getting changed and my mom glanced down at it smiling up at me as she held out my cell to me. Jay was calling me, and I answered with a smile. “Hey, girl. Did you talk to your sex god?” I smiled wider as I answered, “Yeah, I did. Thanks for the coffee. You are a lifesaver.”

My mom sat on my bed, listening to us and when I ended the call with
good night, she patted the bed beside her.

“Bailey, we need to talk about you and Cooper.” I glanced at her in confusion, and she laughed at the look on my face.

“We know nothing’s been going on with you, but Shawn is still wary and because of your ages being so close and with hormones and all, so we want to talk to you about moving rooms.”

My eyes narrowed and my mouth popped open. “But I love my room.” My mom glanced around the room, and she nodded. “I know, I think it’s silly. You would never do anything with Cooper, he’s your friend, sometimes, but even I can see the disdain you still have for each other.”

She left shortly after, promising to speak to Shawn about the idea of leaving us be. As soon as she left, my cell rang again. It was a withheld number and when I answered it, Coop’s voice spoke softly into the line.

“Bails, are you alone?” He sounded unsure and nervous and I whispered, “Yes.”

He ended the call and I heard him drop into the bathroom. He stood and leaned on the counter as I entered. He opened his arms to me and I rushed into his embrace.

“Did she speak to you about moving rooms?” his voice rumbled against my ear and I nodded against his chest. He leaned down and kissed my head softly.

“I agreed, if it’ll put their minds at ease, then we need to do it. I’m moving rooms in the morning.” He pulled me in closer and I could hear his heart beating in his chest. “Bails, I know this isn’t ideal, but we need to cool things down.”

My body froze at his words and I stepped back with my eyes widening in horror. He reached for me again. “Bails, I’m not ending us, far from it, but we need to be more careful.” As my eyes threatened tears, he dropped his voice lower. “Bailey, I’m staying with you. You have me. I promise you that there isn’t anyone else for me. I am completely and utterly in love with you.”

He pressed his lips to mine and I came back to life as I met his lips in a fierce kiss. He kissed me three more times and then pulled back. “Where’s your cell?” I nodded out into the room, and he leaned down, whispering in my ear, “Save my name to Jay new, and then I can text and call without worrying about someone seeing it.” I wobbled my head, still feeling worried about what was going to happen.
