“Still. It doesn’t matter. I have wolves here that’s been raped and physically abused by males. The wolf you want so badly was attacked and raped. How would she think of you if you told her you choked out another female?” Jaxson was quiet knowing what Kellan said had truth to it.

“Tristan is waiting for you in the cellar.” Jaxson bowed to Kellan and walked off heading to where he knew he was going to get his punishment for breaking a pack rule. Damn, he was all fucked up.

  Chapter Eight

“I want my fucking pups,” Maverick grunted in Kyra’s ear as he held her down on the bed. Kyra just closed her eyes and buried her head in the pillow waiting for him to be done with his assault. She knew that he would be coming to her sooner or later after scouring the pack for the perfect female. She wasn’t perfect whatsoever, but he’d chosen her.

He buried his head in her neck and inhaled deeply. Kyra knew why he’d chosen her. When he had stepped into her space, his dick had hardened and grown by just her scent. Kyra had backed up and shook her head not wanting anything to do with the man. But as alpha and stronger than her there was little that she could do to stop him. Her wolf hid inside her in fear, cowering at the much stronger wolf. Now with his dick drilling through her; Kyra wept silently wishing her life was anything that it was at the moment.

Snapping out of her nightmare, Kyra looked around her dark room with her chest rising and falling sharply. She felt around her bed and realized she was alone.

  “He’s dead,” she breathed.

“He’s dead.” She inhaled through her nose and let it out through her mouth to calm her racing heart. She was in a cave safe with a pack that wouldn’t let anyone hurt her. She didn’t have to worry about anything but living her life like she used to.

Getting out of bed, she stretched. Jaxson’s scent invaded her senses so much that she whipped around thinking he would be in the room with her. She was alone. Sighing, she looked down and realized she was still wearing his shirt. Tearing off the material; she changed from her bathing suit into a simple house dress. She didn’t want to keep his t-shirt or else she’d probably drive herself mad. So she took his shirt in her hands and left her room and headed towards his. She could hear her pack around the cave carrying on normally.

“He’s not in there,” Zander called out to her as Kyra knocked on Jaxson’s bedroom door.

“Where is he?” Kyra asked turning around. Zander walked up to her with sweat adorning his body as if he was working out. Kyra looked at his well-toned body. He would make a great enforcer if he kept up his training.

  “The cellar,” he replied.

“But I think you’d better ask Kellan permission before going down there.” To Kyra, that meant he had done something wrong. Fearing that he was getting punished because of her; Kyra rushed through the tunnels towards the scent of her alpha. Along with Bliss and the other she-wolves; Kellan was in the dining room having dinner. Bliss was holding their new baby; breastfeeding while she ate.

“Hey Kyra,” Kellan said getting up to greet her.

  “Feeling better?”

“I didn’t want you to punish him Kellan,”’ she said hastily.

  “He didn’t-”

“Relax Ky,” he rubbed her arms.

“That’s not the reason he’s getting punished.”

  “What did he do?”

“That’s something for him to talk to you about,” Kellan replied.

“Can I go see him then?”

“I want you to eat something first,” he said. The tone in his voice was not suggestive. It was an order. Kyra could only nod and sit with them at the dining table. When she sat down, Kingston popped his mouth from Bliss’s breast. He cooed and turned his head in the direction of Kyra and began sniffing at the air. His eyes still remained closed, but his other senses were coming along. Unlike human babies, shifter pups grew at an accelerated rate. And being the son of two alphas, Kyra knew he was going to grow into something quite fierce.

“He’s learning our scents,” Kellan told her.

“Honestly, he’s the cutest thing in this world,” Kyra said holding her heart.

“He almost makes me want a pup myself,” Gemma said. Everyone turned and looked at her sharply.

“I said almost,” she added with a smirk.

“Don’t worry; Tristan will probably get carried away when you’re in heat,” Kyra said as she tore off a piece of garlic bread to eat.

“Good luck with that,” Bliss laughed.

“Don’t laugh at her. I’m putting another pup right in you on your next cycle,” Kellan said to her. Bliss gasped and threw a piece of bread at him.

“Really? You’re not gonna even give me a break?”

  “No,” he smiled.

“I want a baby girl now.” Just as he said that Kingston whimpered before he began wailing and fussing in Bliss’s arms.

“See what you did!” Bliss exclaimed. Kellan quickly got up and took his son from Bliss’s arms.

“Don’t cry, my boy. I’ll always want you. You’re my first born son. You’ll always be special in my heart.” As if Kingston understood he stopped crying in his father’s hold. Then again; he probably did understand.

“You’re pretty good at that,” Kyra said looking on as Kellan hushed his son to sleep. Kellan shrugged. He never thought he would know what to do when it came to being a father, but he found that it was one of the best things that he would become. Being an alpha didn’t come close to being a father. What he feared was having to manage being both an alpha and a father.

“I don’t know, it just feels natural,” Kellan said looking down at his son. He fingered his dark curly hair. Kingston smiled in his sleep, a smile that showed off his gums.

“Can I hold him?” Gemma asked.

“Sure.” She went over to Kellan but as soon as he moved to pass her the baby, his face pulled into a frown as if he was ready to cry again. Kellan quickly tucked him against his chest to keep him from crying.

  “Sorry,” Kellan laughed.

  “He don’t want you.”

“Damn Kingston. You know I’ll probably be the cool aunt. Well, buddy you just lost your chance at me sneaking you into parties.”

“I don’t think it’s you,” Kellan laughed. He tried to give the baby to both Selena and Rita, and the same thing occurred.

“Let me get him,” Kyra said. Kellan was sure the same thing was going to happen, but when he held out Kingston towards Kyra, the pup didn’t frown or fuss. His nose quirked as if he was sniffing her scent again before he cooed and blew spit bubbles from his mouth. Kellan settled him into Kyra’s arms where Kingston was perfectly content.

“Guess he has a favorite,” Rita scoffed crossing her arms.

“Don’t be a hater,” Kyra laughed. She looked down at the baby and smiled. He took her finger into his tiny palm and squeezed.

“You’re pretty good at that,” Kellan said, echoing what she had said to him only moments ago.

“I guess it comes naturally to me too,” she replied. She looked at Kingston again.

“Bliss if you and Kellan need some alone time I can definitely watch him for you,” she offered. Bliss looked at Kellan who nodded.

“Thanks for the offer,” Kellan said.

“Not like I have anything else to do,” she shrugged.

“No one else should be taken from their mates. Plus, I guess I am Kingston’s favorite.”

“Or, your chocolate scent is confusing him. He’s a baby, they love chocolate,” Gemma accused.

“Give it up; he chose me,” Kyra teased.

“I will surely take you up on that offer,” Bliss said.

“Especially when caveman over here can’t keep his hands to himself.” Kellan popped his mate over her head playfully. Kyra giggled at them before she handed Kingston over. While Bliss held Kingston, Kellan scooped Bliss up and held her. He started walking toward the tunnels.

“Both these two need to be in bed,” Kellan said.

&
nbsp; “Mind speak if you need anything urgent otherwise let Jayce or Rita handle anything else you might need.” The pack understood the alpha needed time alone with his mate and his new pup. It was perfectly understandable that Jayce and Rita take charge for some time seen as they were the beta pair.

“I’m good for now,” Selena said.

  “I need to go study.”

  “Study for what?” Kyra asked.

“Well as a healer I have to learn new methods of healing. Plus I need to learn the shifter anatomy. That’s how come I was able to split your chest and take that bullet out Kyra.”

“Oh. You know I always thought healers just knew what to do.”

“Instinctively yes, but other times we have to think.” Selena waved as she walked off.

“I’m gonna go talk to Jaxson,” Kyra said.

“Kellan said I could after I ate.”

  “Go for it,” Rita replied.

“Jayce is down there too, so I’m coming.”

“Me too,” Gemma said. The three of them headed towards the cellar. Everything was quiet so Kyra couldn’t tell what was happening, but as they neared the cellar, Kyra heard the faint sounds of a whip against skin. Her throat nearly closed when she smelled Jaxson’s sweet blood.

“What are they doing to him?” Kyra gasped. Gemma and Rita were quiet, though Kyra expected they knew exactly what was being done to him.

In the cellar, Jaxson was kneeling with his back facing Jayce and Tristan. He had lashes all across his back that weren’t healing. Blood rolled down his back like tears. Both Tristan and Jayce had whips in their hands. Seeing the she-wolves; they stopped lashing Jaxson.

“We’ll let you out tomorrow morning,” Jayce said. Jaxson only nodded; not even turning to look at them.

“You shouldn’t be down here,” Jayce scolded his mate as he left the cellar.

“I can be wherever I want,” she snapped. Jayce’s eyes flashed wolf before he growled at her.

“Looks like you need a few lashes yourself,” he said taking her by the wrist.

“Come on.” He whisked her off, dragging her away from the cellar. Tristan was ready to do the same for Gemma.

“You shouldn’t-” Kyra was already waving him off.

“I’m not your mate Tristan. You can’t tell me what to do,” Kyra cut him off.

“Okay, that’s fair. But I’m the enforcer, so technically I can tell you what to do.”

“Kellan said I can come talk to him. So take the enforcer shit and shove it up your ass and around the corner,” she snapped.

“Damn! What the fuck did I do to you?” Tristan gasped.

“Lighten up Kyra,” Gemma said. Her eyes were flashing as it looked like she was clearly trying to control her wolf.

  “Sorry,” Kyra shook her head.

“I don’t know what came over me. I just don’t like seeing him hurt.” Tristan kissed Gemma’s temple and rubbed her neck to calm her.

  “I understand,” Tristan told Kyra.

“I’m sorry I didn’t realize how you might have been feeling. Come, Gemma, let’s leave her.”

“Come,” he said spanking her on the bottom. He pushed her lightly towards the other end of the tunnel leaving Kyra alone with Jaxson just a few feet away inside the tunnel.

Jaxson felt his wounds pulsing with pain and the silver cuffs on his wrists were keeping him from healing. He was perfectly content with his punishment until chocolate and toffee surrounded him. His powers were slowly draining, but her scent was strong enough that he could still smell it. He couldn’t stand for her to see him like this. He had too much pride.

“I don’t want you in here,” he spoke, his voice hard like stone.

“You know I could care less about what you want,” she replied.

“If that ain’t a lie then call me a muthafucking donkey and pin a tail on me,” he scoffed.

“Ha, ha very funny.” She was moving about the cellar, but Jaxson kept his back towards her; refusing to turn and look at her.

“Because if you didn’t care about what I wanted then-” he began.

“Don’t say it,” Kyra interrupted. She knew what he was going to say and she wasn’t ready to face what the hell she wanted or what he wanted.

“What are you doing?” Jaxson asked, still hearing her moving around in the cellar. She was quiet until he heard her flop down on the ground behind him. Something cool pressed against his wounds. He winced but sighed in relief that burning pain was being cooled down.

“This is against my punishment you know,” Jaxson sighed.

“If Kellan finds out then he can just punish me too,” she replied. Jaxson chuckled.

“How are you so strong?” he asked her.

“Because I have no other choice,” she replied. After wiping away his blood and cleaning his wound, she put ointment across the lashes. Selena had stocked the cellar with medical supplies seen as they trained down here. Without his healing abilities; his open wound could be infected if left untreated.

  “There you go,” she said.

“Now, you can turn around and look at me.”

  “I’d rather not,” he said.

“So Mira gets in my face about having you, and you hurt me yet again, and you won’t even look at me? She gasped.

“I told you that I didn’t mean to hurt you!” Jaxson whipped around to look at her. She let go of her frown and began smiling. Jaxson was confused for a moment.

  “Got ya,” she smiled.

“Made you turn around,” she shrugged sweetly like a naughty kid who had gotten what she wanted. Jaxson wagged a finger at her.

“You’re evil for that,” he smirked.

“Why wouldn’t you want to look at me anyways?” she asked.

“Why would I want any she-wolf seeing me like this? Especially being an enforcer. I’m never supposed to be this weak.”

“Even so, I would never think you’re weak,” she shrugged.

“We all have our moments, but I know you’re a strong man. Hell, I don’t feel safe around you for no reason.”

“You feel safe around me?” he asked, almost shocked.

  “Yeah,” she replied.

“Thought that was one of the obvious things I felt around you.” The both of them got quiet as they looked around awkwardly. It was like they were fucking teenagers. Jaxson had never been awkward around a female. Not even when he lost his virginity.

“About hurting you Kyra; I’m sorry. It wasn’t my intention.”

“I know. That’s why I told Kellan not to reprimand you for it. I don’t know how I can get over the fact that you and her are a thing though.”

“We’re not a thing,” Jaxson said. Kyra looked up at him, her heart beginning to race.

  “Don’t try and front Jax.”

  “I’m not.”

“Mates isn’t a thing to joke on Jaxson.”

“That’s what I wanted to tell you today if we had gotten the chance to talk. She’s not my mate. I don’t know why she felt the need to tell you that. But me and her aren’t mates. I promise you that.”

“But you’re attracted to her? And she wants you.”

  “It’s weird,” he shrugged.

“She’s pretty. She’s sexually attracted to both me and my wolf. But-”

“But what? What more could there be? If you feel those things around her then just admit to yourself that you want her,” Kyra sighed.

“Now who’s the idiot?” he asked her.

  “Excuse me?!”

“You called me an idiot for not being able to see how you felt around me. Now I’m calling you an idiot. Either that or you’re just blind.” Kyra crossed her arms.

“I don’t feel anything for Mira. She’s attractive and fuckable. It’s what any single heterosexual wolf would see in an attractive woman. But with you, there’s just something different. I know we joke around Kyra, but you should be able to feel that there’s something much more to those jokes.” Kyra’s heart continued to beat fast.
Here he was saying that he and Mira weren’t mates. That meant that regardless of her or Mira’s feelings; Jaxson didn’t belong to anyone.

“I’ve never been drawn to two women like this before. I’ll be honest; whatever I see in Mira it feels…” his words trailed off.

“It feels like what?” Kyra asked eager to hear the rest of what he had to say.

  “Unnatural,” he finished.

  “It feels unnatural.”

“Why didn’t you speak up when she was in my face earlier?!” Kyra exclaimed.

“I tried to! For one it felt like I couldn’t get it out of my mouth. And then when I finally could say something you cut me off and dipped.”

“Well, I was upset and emotional. Didn’t want you to see that in me.”

“There’s no part of you that I don’t want to see Kyra,” he said softly.

“I am no submissive wolf anymore. I don’t want you to see me in a way that makes me submissive.” Jaxson had on silver cuffs so he couldn’t sense her wolf, but going off memory, he wasn’t so sure that he even realized whether her wolf was dominant or submissive. The animal seemed to thread the line almost appearing neutral.

“I’m sorry I wasn’t there to protect you,” Jaxson sighed.

“When Maverick attacked you. I should have protected you.”

“I don’t hold you responsible for that,” Kyra scolded him.

“You, Jayce and Tristan had your hands full. The best thing that ever happened for me was the three of you getting me out of there and to Kellan. Other than that, I don’t want to think or talk about what happened back then. Okay?” Jaxson knew what it was like to have a painful event in life. So he understood that she didn’t want to speak about it or even think about it. He did, however, fear that she was going to keep it bottled in and it was going to eat her from the inside out.

“You got it,” he said. He looked at her softly, just taking in her features. Her skin was fresh and radiant, her eyes; seductive and her mouth had a tease of a smile.

“What?” she asked, not helping but to feel awkward that he was just staring at her. Jaxson cleared his throat and snapped from his daze.

  “Sorry,” he smiled.

  “What were you looking at?”

“You,” he replied. Kyra touched her face thinking she had leftover crumbs on her mouth or something.
