“Fuck are you doing?” I snapped.

“I was just trying to get some shut eye before the breathing and the Hazzzaarrd starting to wake my ass up,” he mimicked her but was all smiles. “Just glad you finally took a step.”

He was solely talking to me but I could tell Trecia was not happy about any of it. I tried to warn him to stop, but when she tried to brush past, I grabbed her elbow and said, “Wait, he’s just joking.”

“I don’t care,” she snapped back at me and jerked her elbow from my hold. “It was a mistake and won’t happen again.”

  Fuck me.

She stormed out and I swear if I didn’t think Chief would lose his damn mind, I was about to punch Rex right in his grinning mouth. The man would probably beat my ass, but I’d give him a run for his money. That was for damn sure.

  “Fuck,” I punched the locker.

“She’ll cool off.” Rex tried to console me. “Just give it time.”

“Time,” I scoffed. “Going to lay down. I’m tired and pissed.”

  Chapter 6

  Trecia Wilson

  What have I done?

  Good Lord in heaven.

  What have I done?

That man baited me right into his damn trap and I fell for it like some teenage girl. Why in the hell would I follow him to the sleeping area?

  Why, girl, why?

Yes, he’s sexy as hell. Rough around the edges and fine as fuck. Why in the world he thought I wouldn’t give him the time of day is beyond me. Has he looked in the mirror? I would not have given him the time of day but that was due to me. Any other woman in her right mind, would scoop him up quick. Nowadays, I shut men down left and right after that shit with Paul. I was more than done.

Now, I’m kissing them in the back rooms of a fire station? On top of that, mortifying details, we were caught as I was moaning his goddamn name. I could have absolutely melted into a big old pile of chocolate to be lapped up by dogs.

  What were the odds?

I decided to take a walk with Joe, so we could discuss his mediation tactics with his mother and father who were thinking of getting a divorce after thirty years. He said after all the kids left, they turned and looked at each other and realized they didn’t really know who the other was. Therefore, they wanted time to figure all of that out. It was a common thing that happened more than is advertised but it doesn’t usually end in divorce. Though, Joe’s the oldest, it’s something that is bothering him, which was totally understandable. This also got my mind off the embarrassing moment where I was caught kissing the team leader.

If I could call Scott and get my assignment changed, God knew that I would. This complication was never welcomed and despite the past hour, I was the ultimate professional at all times. I never crossed the line and not once, had I kissed a client.

  Forget being caught.

Now, I had to push all that down and do a mediation. It took everything in me, to keep my composure as Toad and Hazard talked through their issues. Despite me constantly sniffing, because I smelled like the man with his woodsy aroma, I was fine. They were able to share more about their background and how they were able to get here. Why they wanted to be firefighters and Hazard, more importantly, got to explain to the probie why he took this job so seriously. Despite, the newbie’s arrogance, I think he heard him, but time would tell. The two of them could have been doing this exercise, just to get rid of me. That’s what I suspected, anyway.

I didn’t stay around for dinner at the house, but left at four-thirty. I had to share with my mom about this new development. She was in fact, my closest friend, because she was crass enough to tell me the truth. I wasn’t calling my other romantic friends because they’d see wedding bells. I blamed it on the fact that they watched too many Hallmark Romance movies.

  “You did what?” Mom gasped.

“Well, first I grabbed his balls because he was advancing on me. I just wanted to squeeze them hard enough for him to know I could do damage. Plus, I warned him. He kept doing that ‘getting in my space shit,’ like I was going to cower back.” I explained. “I wasn’t having it.”

“Okay, so how did his tongue get down your throat?” I could tell I had her undivided attention because I don’t even remember telling her that it was in my mouth.

“Well, while I had his balls in my hands, his dick started to get hard. And, uh, he was aroused and the next thing I know, I had him against the wall.”

  I could have died.

It wasn’t even that he lost control. It was me.

  Oh God.

“Now, that’s my girl. Take what you damn well want; that’s how I raised you.” My mom announced proudly as if she was sharing with her friends in the salon. “That’s what I’m talking about. Taking the man by the balls. Girl, I raised ya right.”

  Oh hell.

“Mom, we were caught by his friend, another member of the house. He was the one that pointed me out to Hazard. I just can’t believe all of this happened.” I kept trying to calm down but the more I thought about it, the more worked up I became.

“Baby girl, calm down. Okay?” Mom said in a lower voice. “Listen. This is the situation and there is nothing you can do about it. The only thing I suggest is you let that man screw the cobwebs that have taken root into that thing you call a vagina or wherever else he wants to put it and be done with it. I’m just saying. What do you expect? It’s been years since you got laid and therefore, when the opportunity presented itself, you took it by the balls.” She paused for effect and said what I knew she couldn’t help but to remind me. “Literally.”

  Hell.

“Mom,” I chided. “I was hired to do a job.”

“Fine then. Get some, do the job and then leave him alone. Nobody’s saying you need to marry him. Take it from Mama, firemen live for the thrill. Just let him dust those cobwebs away.” She encouraged me and though I wanted to downplay her advice, there was nothing wrong with getting laid.

  Right?

The next day, I tried to ensure I was spending my time with the various men of Station 71. Even the Chief had issues he wanted to mediate with his wife. She was hoping he’d retire, and he said he had a good three to five years left in him. In actuality, he wanted to make sure the house was going to be in good, solid hands when he left, which was why he brought me in. Anyone could tell, the man had a liking for Hazard and despite the man’s hot temper, everyone in the house, including Oscar respected him. However, the Chief and I shared the same sentiment about the Team Leader. He needed to reel in those emotions and learn to deal with them appropriately, especially as a leader. Because everything was being scrutinized.

  Everything.

It was Friday. Those that were on shift since the crew worked twenty-four hours on and forty-eight hours off. The whole team I spent the past few days with were headed to the bar. This included Hazard.

“Join us,” Joe called to me. “It’s Friday and we’re a fun bunch. Mostly.”

“Ah, I’m not sure,” I stammered.

“Come on, come on,” Rex chimed in. “Drinks on me.”

“Uhh…” I looked at him then I gave in. “Mmkay. A drink is fine.”

Two girly drinks later, I was feeling quite nice, and the men were having a blast at the local pub down the street from the station. Hazard was in the corner, nursing a beer, while Rex was chatting excessively to him about something. The rest of us were watching Sub and Cheeto take shots based on what basketball team made a three-point shot on the large screen that was right above us. Another hour of this and they were sloshed.

That was only fun for a while, then I was ready to go. Apparently, so was Hazard, because he pounded on the table and said, “Ladies, I’m out.”

A bunch of ‘fuck yous’ were thrown at him, but he smiled and brushed past me. Then I heard the words in my ear.

“Need a ride,” he asked. “You’ve had three drinks.”

  Oh damn.

  Show time.

  “I can catch an Uber
or Lyft,” I replied and took another sip.

“You can also just ride with me. Figure we had some unfinished business.” He was still in my ear.

My head swiveled around to him and his clear eyes met me, head on.

“I live in Brooklyn; the train is best,” I said with more confidence. “I can just catch the five or the two.”

“I live in the Bronx and I’ll ensure you get home.” He raised an eyebrow, but the flutters in my stomach made me anticipate all sorts of wickedness coming from that expression.

Ensure I got home, did not necessarily mean tonight.

The promises that were in his eyes and I knew, not only would it be good, but I could get attached.

“Fine,” I said and threw back my drink without so much of a twinge in my chest.

“Okay, I’m taking the mediator home. She’s sick of mediating our bullshit, anyway,” Hazard announced and all the men erupted in laughter.

“That’s not true,” I said with a shake of my head. “I enjoy my job. Very much.”

“Aww,” they said with sloppy grins.

“Fuck y’all,” Hazard shot at them. “Let’s go.”

There he was with his commands again. I just went along anyway at this point. He was who he was, and I doubted mediating the bossiness from him would take six weeks. That probably required a psychologist, anyway, and deep down, I wasn’t real sure I wanted that part of him to go.

  Not yet.

We arrived at a two-story home, right outside of the Bronx in a nice neighborhood with a children’s park across the street. It was off of a major highway but definitely prime time real estate. Needless to mention, I was impressed.

“This is me,” he said after opening the passenger side door of his truck and waiting for me to get out.

“Thanks.” I grabbed onto his waiting hand to climb down. “This is nice.”

There was a grunt that I was sure was supposed to be a ‘thanks’, but I followed behind him closely. There was a small porch out front, with a weathered rocking chair that did not look too durable. A mat was placed outside of the front door that read ‘We me’ and I’m sure it used to say Welcome. Once we were in the house, a foyer came into view which kept a coat hanger and men’s shoes and boots to the left. Hazard collected my coat and took off his boots at the door.

“Should I take off my shoes?” I asked.

“No, that’s just so I remember where my shoes are.” He laughed. “I have no plush carpet that will be dirtied. Believe me.”

We walked into the living room where there was a huge flat screen mounted on the wall. A large sectional couch was on the other side of the room with a big table that held magazines, beer cans and probably some leftover popcorn kernels. Further into the house, was a dining room and kitchen. There seemed to be a basement, and the upstairs was paved with wooden steps.

“You want something to drink?” Hazard asked me as I took a seat on the couch.

“Water is fine,” I answered, while hoping my nervousness would not reflect in my voice.

He nodded and headed toward the kitchen. I continued to look around and noticed that despite the beer cans and popcorn droppings, the man kept a nice and clean house. It wasn’t dusty, despite all the windows and wood. The place looked like a home and not a bachelor’s pad, even with the huge television mounted on the wall.

Hazard returned with water for me and a beer for him. Once they were on the table, he sat down right next to me and asked, “Now, about our last conversation.”

  Oh hell.

“Come on sweetheart,” he coaxed. “It’s just you and me now. No unit, no bunks. A man and a woman sharing. Now, I’ve already told you what I had to say. I need to know your response to that.”

My mind was racing so fast. I knew if I would have gone for the water, I would have spilled it all over his leather couch.

“I think you should take yoga,” I blurted out of nowhere.

  Oh shit.

Hazard’s head jerked back, and both eyebrows went up. Then, honest to goodness, he burst out laughing.

“What the fuck?” he asked through his chuckles, before he calmed down. “Where the hell did that come from?”

  “Uh…” I cringed. “Well, fuck.”

“What?” he threw his hand out in front of him. “Spit it out. I won’t bite you... too hard.”

  Well, there went my panties.

  Soaked.

I wanted him to bite me real hard.

  “Sweet…”

“Look,” I cut him off. “I thought you were hot when I saw you in the Lenny’s. Like, real hot. But then when what I assumed was your dismissal of me, I didn’t like it. So, I sort of made you off limits. So there. Don’t give me shit about it. It was a big assumption on my part but still. Plus, you seriously have anger management issues and you need to do yoga or something. That’s all I got for you.”

“That’s it?” he asked, but I wouldn’t turn my head to see the smirk, I knew was on his silly face.

“Yeah,” I answered. “Well, the last thing is that you’re right. I probably wouldn’t have wanted to give you the time of day, but that would have had nothing to do with you. With that being said, I would have given you the time of day.”

There was an eerie silence and then something in the air snapped between the two of us. I swear, it was like a clapping sound or the gun that started the race off for runners. All I knew was when my eyes met his, there was nothing keeping us apart.

  No force.

  No hesitation.

  No nothing.

“Fuck,” Hazard murmured under his breath before he caressed my jaw with the back of his hand and leaned forward to peck my lips. “So beautiful.”

My heart was beating fast and the flurries in my stomach were jumping all around that I thought I might be sick until those soft lips of his hit mine.

  God.

I inhaled and let the man kiss me, ever so softly. The care he was showing was unexpected. Hazard seemed like a rough-and-ready man but his kiss was everything I needed in order to calm my nerves. It was like, he knew. Knew there was nothing separating us anymore. Like the veil had been torn, and he now had all access, so he was taking his damn time.

I moved my body nearly on top of him when I realized he wanted me to straddle his lap. “Wait,” I protested and pulled away. “I’m too big to be on—”

“What?” he growled. “Who told you that?”

“Uh… I’m just too big,” I reluctantly replied, hoping he wouldn’t make it a big deal.

I am two hundred and fifty pounds, it’s not a matter of who told me that, but I know. That’s a lot of weight to be carrying around and my doctor makes sure to remind me every time I see him.

Hazard’s eyes were on mine but his hands were cupping my head, so he could move it whichever way he wanted.

“I bench press more than you, sweetheart,” he whispered before he, I swear on everything, stood up with me draped around him holding on for dear life. “Calm down.”

There was no straining, no struggle or even a hesitation as he walked up the steps to what I assume was his bedroom. It was definitely all man with brown everything, including the sheets, covers, walls and dressers. The carpet was a kaleidoscope of earth tone colors with black half-circles going through the length of the rug. My back hit the soft bed and Hazard’s face was all I could see, while his body covered mine.

“You’re too heavy for who?” he asked against my lips. “You’re perfect. Tall like I want. Thick like I want. Obedient like I want. Sexy as fuck, just like I want.”

  There went my panties again.

This man was about to have me maul him on his own king size bed. My body tingled with awareness as each touch, nip or the rough material of his jeans rubbed against my exposed skin. Hazard bit my bottom lip and that was all she wrote. I began to tear his shirt off him and then went straight for his belt buckle. There was a faint chuckle, but I gave no damns on what he thought was funny because I wanted what I wanted.<

  Him.

Flipping the big man over to his back, I knew he allowed me to do this, which was fine. Pulling his jeans down, took no time when he helped to lift and kick them off. His hands were unbuttoning my blouse as I made quick work of my work slacks. The shoes fell off on the way upstairs and I could have gone home barefoot, with the package I saw in his heather grey briefs.

  Goddamn.

Hazard had a hazard happening below those undies. Immediately, I go for his briefs to pull them down and my good God in heaven. The man is big. His long penis springs out and the weight of it causes it to fall on his stomach. My head moves up to look Hazard in the eyes, and that’s when he strikes and puts me on my back.

He slowly strips me of my under clothing only to make his way down with soft kisses from my lips, a small detour to each nipple, so they are wet and puckered for him. Then slowly moved down the middle of my stomach before he hovers over my wet mound. Hazard uses two fingers to part the soft lips so he can play with my taut clit, causing my breath to hitch. Those fingers travel down to my soaked opening and he inserts one finger while latching on to my nub with his mouth.

“Holy shit,” I exhaled as my hips jerked up, but were contained by Hazard’s weight on my lower half.

My hands moved to my breast, so I could squeeze them since I had nothing else better to do as he unwound me like a Jack-in-the-box. With each stroke, suck and finger, I was on the edge to explode. Every single fiber of hair on my body was at attention and he had the key to unlock Pandora’s box. His mouth made me feel so good and I wanted him to have it all.

  “Yes, Hazard,” I moaned. “Shit.”

I was close to coming all over his face. One more stroke, one more suck and I wouldn’t be able to hold it any longer. He added a second finger and my leg started to shake right before he teeth latched on to my swollen clit.

The stars and moon came together as bright spots in the back of my closed eyes as I released every bit of pent up anxiety, stress or sexual frustration with my fists in Hazard’s soft hair. My body continued to jerk as I moved my sensitive pussy up and down his face as the euphoric feeling faded.

“Oh my gosh,” I exhaled. “Damn.”
