Killian: The Doherty Mafia #1

The hot water filled the tub and made the scented water gloriously bubbly.

I unbuttoned my shirt too and took it off. Our clothes were on the floor now and Killian came towards me, taking slow but long strides to close the distance between us.

It was getting damp and misty in there. Finally, I would not only get to clean myself, but have a lot of fun doing it.

“You sure know how to treat a woman well,” I said, and I knew he could hear the sarcasm in my voice.

When Killian kissed me this time, it was long and sexy. A slow burn.

I could feel my desires rising to the surface with every flick of his tongue inside my mouth.

He held the back of my head with one hand, while the other traveled down my back, exploring every inch of my skin till he grabbed my ass, giving it another spank.

I looked into his eyes, daring him to spank me again.

  Spank me harder.

  He saw what I wanted.

Grabbing me by my shoulders, he flipped me around. I nearly cried out with joy when he bent me over and spanked me again. One side and then the other. My skin stung but it felt so good.

I could feel the cream sticky between my bare thighs.

  Harder again. Then again.

“Is this the way to tame you when you’ve been a bad girl?” he growled.

He held me tightly by my waist while he slapped my ass again.

“I’m sorry. I won’t do it again,” I murmured in a soft voice.

“I know you won’t, but you still need to be taught a lesson, don’t you? Get your knees.” His voice reverberated in the bathroom. The misty damp air made it hot in there. My skin and hair was all damp, and the heat coursed through the pores of me.

I was even more desperate to feel him inside me.

Killian came around and positioned himself in front of me. His big thick cock swung between his legs, right in front of my face. I looked up at him, into his dark eyes.

He grabbed me by the top of my head.

“Open wide. You know what to do. Redeem yourself,” he growled.

I parted my lips and he pushed himself into my mouth, sliding down deep in my throat. He was so big, I gagged. Too big for me. I cried out but with pleasure. I didn’t think I would love being dominated by him this much.

We kept our eyes on each other, staring into each other’s souls as I started sucking him.

I had to hold his thighs for support, and they were such strong and muscular thighs.

He dug his cock deeper and deeper down my throat with every thrust, barely giving me a chance to catch my breath. He started going faster than I thought I could handle. But I did it. I wanted it. I needed to know how far I could go.

As it turned out, with Killian, I had no limits.

I brought him to the edge of coming and he pulled out with a groan. He stroked his cock and then looked over at the bathtub. It was ready and waiting for us.

“Good. You did well,” he said, touching my hair in that surprisingly gentle way of his. “Now get in the water,” he commanded.

  Killian

I wasn’t counting the days but I was aware it had been a while since I actually did something productive with the time my family had given me to figure out the mess.

Connor was still at the hospital, with no change to his condition. That was the only reason why shit hadn’t hit the fan yet. If he woke up and started talking—I didn’t know how I was going to handle this.

I’d invited Reese up to the house to watch a movie with me the previous night, and neither of us had mentioned the basement since then. In fact, she’d spent the night in my bed. When I woke up and saw her asleep beside me, I pulled the sheets up to her chin so she could be cozy and comfortable.

I didn’t want to think about what she’d suffered so far, especially not the fact that I’d kept her locked up in the basement for days.

There was a part of me that wanted to forget about that, and this part was getting stronger everyday. It was like I had suddenly forgotten about everything that happened. About Connor and my dad. How my family was expecting some answers from me and they were expecting it soon.

My father called when I went to the kitchen to make a coffee. I left Reese sleeping in the bed. I’d already lost the instinct to keep an eye on her at all times.

Something told me things had changed around here. That she wasn’t going to try to get away. Maybe I was wrong.

“Killian, where are you?” my father spoke gruffly into the phone.

“At home,” I replied. I was already peering through the kitchen window to make sure there wasn’t anybody around. I couldn’t rid myself of the worry that someone could storm my cabin at any time and take Reese away.

“You need to go and get Isabelle.”

“Go and get here where? What are you talking about?”

My father breathed heavily into the phone. I got the feeling that something had happened to her. Isabelle was his stepdaughter. She was Cynthia’s daughter.

Dad married Cynthia several years after our mother was killed, and Isabelle was the baby of the family.

“That motherfucker, Brayden. He punched her in the face. I don’t want Cynthia seeing her like this. Isabelle doesn’t want that either. You need to go get her. She’s still at his place.”

“Brayden punched her in the face? What the fuck?” I roared.

I was already halfway to the door, flicking my jacket off the wall. I sensed a movement behind me and turned to see Reese standing there. She was in nothing but the shirt I’d given her earlier. There was a worried expression on her face.

“We need to do something about that bastard,” Dad continued.

“I’ll take care of it,” I said, ending the call.

“Everything okay?” Reese asked. Her voice was hoarse and she spoke in a whisper.

“Nothing is okay. Someone hurt my little sister,” I snapped.

Reese lifted a hand up to her mouth in surprise.

  * * *

I needed to make a quick decision, and I had two options. I could take Reese back to the basement and lock her up like before. Or I could leave her up here in the house, free to roam, free to run away if she wanted. I didn’t want to do either of them.

I wished Dad hadn’t called, and I wished I didn’t have this decision to make.

I was sure the same thoughts were running through her mind too.

“Are you going to her?” she asked, watching me put my jacket on.

“She’s still at his house. Her motherfucking boyfriend’s house. I need to go and take her out of there,” I answered.

Reese gulped the lump down her throat.

“Okay, I’ll go back to the basement,” she whispered.

I stood still, watching her in silence as she walked in the direction of the basement. When she realized I wasn’t following her she stopped in her tracks and turned to look at me. She was surprised. She didn’t know what to expect from me.

  “Killian?”

“What would happen if I left you here?”

My words seemed to have taken her breath away. Reese’s mouth fell open and she filled her lungs with air.

“I would…I would watch some TV. Change into fresh clothes. Maybe I’d make some eggs. I’m quite hungry.”

The question on my mind was inevitable. She answered before I had a chance to ask it.

“I’m not going to run. I can promise you that, but my promises mean nothing unless you actually trust me. I was being foolish. I know I have nowhere to go. This is the safest place for me.”

She was right, none of it mattered. The real question was, did I trust her?

My mind was buzzing but I couldn’t waste another moment. I didn’t know what had happened to Isabelle. If she was safe or not. Every minute that passed could put her in harm’s way.

“I’m going,” I replied, storming out of the house.

I didn’t turn to look at Reese again. Nothing
mattered. If she wanted to run, she was free to do so. I’d face the consequences of that later, but I didn’t care about it now.

I just needed to get to Isabelle and bring her to safety.

As I drove away, I thought I saw Reese at the window, staring at me. I didn’t know what she was thinking, or if she was already out of the door.

Maybe this was the answer to everything. Maybe this was the way it was supposed to happen. Whatever came next, I’d face it.

I just needed to take care of Isabelle first.

My time spent with Reese felt like a dream anyway.

Maybe last night was just a mirage.

  * * *

Isabelle sat in my car next to me, shaking. I’d given her my jacket and she had it tightly wrapped over her shoulders. I’d parked the car outside my cabin in the woods, but neither of us had stepped out yet.

The phone was ringing as I held it to my ear. My brother Colin answered a few moments later.

“I have Isabelle with me. The motherfucker left her alone in the house after he punched her.”

  “Where is he?” Colin growled.

“I didn’t go looking for him. I brought Isabelle back to my place. You need to go and take care of him.”

“I’m on it,” Colin said. The call ended.

I turned to my sister, feeling weakened by the sight of her shuddering like that.

Her left eye was badly bruised, but she claimed she could see fine through it. There was a nasty wound on her upper lip where his knuckle met her face. The bleeding had stopped but it looked like it would need some time to recover.

She just sat there shaking her head like she still couldn’t believe it. When I got to the house, she was in the kitchen, making herself a cup of coffee.

“I just don’t want Ma to see me like this. She’s going to lose her head worrying,” she whispered.

I put a hand on her knee and squeezed.

“Nobody is telling Cynthia what happened, but you have to know we’re taking care of it. That asshole shouldn’t have touched a hair on your head, and now he’s going to pay for what he did.”

Isabelle gasped and looked out of the window.

“So what happens now? I don’t want any fuss with doctors.”

“There won’t be any doctors, but I have someone who’ll take care of you.”

“Who?” She turned to me, narrowing her eyes.

Isabelle knew very well that I always lived alone. I was addicted to my privacy and solitude.

  “A girl,” I replied.

She didn’t seem to buy that answer.

  “Which girl? Who is it?”

“You’ll get to meet her in a few minutes,” I replied. But the thing was—I wasn’t even sure if Reese would be in there. There was a good chance she’d already run away.

“Why do I get the feeling you’re hiding something, Killian?” Isabelle continued.

  I shrugged.

“I’m not hiding anything. I’m taking you inside to introduce you to the girl who stayed with me last night.”

“You let a girl spend the night with you?”

  I shrugged again.

“You really like her or something?”

“She had nowhere else to go.”

“And who made you the family’s good Samaritan?”

Isabelle tried to laugh but winced when it stung her lip to do so.

“This is what you get for being a bitch,” I said, patting her back affectionately. “Now, get your ass out of my car and into my house. Your lip is probably going to need stitches, so you better prepare yourself for that.”

  * * *

When we went inside, Reese was waiting for us in the kitchen. She’d freshly brewed some coffee and made sandwiches with whatever she found in the fridge.

“Oh!” Isabelle exclaimed, but I couldn’t tell if she knew who this was.

“Hi,” Reese said. She was reluctant to introduce herself, but peered with concern at my sister’s face.

“I usually don’t look as shit as this,” Isabelle replied. She tried to smile again but it hurt her face.

“Don’t worry about it. Just sit down here. Eat something.” Reese was warm towards her. In a way that I wasn’t expecting her to be. I figured it was her nursing instincts that immediately kicked in.

“My brother refuses to tell me anything about you, so I literally don’t know who you are.”

“We can talk about me later, right now, I need to know how I can help you. Do you mind if I have a closer look at you?”

Isabelle sat in one of the chairs at the kitchen table. Reese proceeded to kneel down in front of her so she could better look at the wounds.

I stood back, watching the two of them and how natural this felt. Reese wasn’t behaving the way a prisoner should have, and Isabelle had warmed to her immediately.

They spoke in whispers, as Isabelle described the attack. It made me furious to listen to it. She hadn’t even told me in detail what Brayden did to her, but she seemed to be happy to open up to Reese. The whole time, Reese examined her, including staring into her pupils and trying to ascertain whether she was concussed.

Eventually, she turned to me. I tried to hide the rage coursing through my veins, but I was sure she’d noticed it.

“I’ll need a few things. Do you have a first aid kit?”

  “Yes.”

I left the room to go find the kit and the other things she said she’d need. I could hear their voices in the kitchen. They were talking like they’d been friends for years. Isabelle was telling her about Brayden and how unpredictable he was.

By the time I returned to the kitchen, Isabelle was sobbing and Reese was consoling her with her arms around her shoulders.

“What’s going to happen to him? What are you going to do to him?” Isabelle cried, turning to me.

I hated seeing her like that. I wanted her to stop crying over the bastard who did this to her. I clenched my jaws in fury, trying to find the words with which to describe what I wanted Brayden to suffer.

Reese turned her back to face her.

“Listen to me. Your brother is going to take care of the situation, and give him the punishment he deserves. Either way, you can’t think about him right now, you have to be strong and recover from this. Your physical injuries to start with and then we can worry about everything else you’re experiencing.”

“I thought I loved him. I really thought he loved me too!” Isabelle cried, falling into Reese’s arms.

I watched the two of them together. Reese’s eyes bore into me. I figured she wanted me to say something.

“I’m going to make sure he never walks again,” I growled.

Isabelle looked at me and burst into another volley of tears.

  * * *

Isabelle and Reese spent the rest of the day together. I was close but stayed out of their conversations. I wanted to be aware of what was being said between them, just to make sure Reese didn’t give herself away. But she was careful. When Isabelle asked her name, Reese insisted that she wanted to be called Ray.

Isabelle would have considered all this very strange and hounded me about the truth—if she hadn’t been so caught up with what was going on in her own life.

She wanted to spend the rest of the day talking about Brayden and their messed up relationship. Reese was happy to give her a shoulder to cry on and the two of them sat on the couch, talking all day, like they were real life sisters.

For one day, I was able to precisely picture what a life with Reese would look like. She had the natural instincts of a nurturer. Isabelle wasn’t an easy person to please—but the fact that she’d opened up so quickly to Reese was astounding.

Maybe this was why I was attracted to Reese too. Because she had the ability to draw people in.

If we had a life together, and if everything was normal and she wasn’t supposed to be married to my uncle, she would have fit right into my family. They would have welcomed a girl like her with open arms.

  This
was the woman my family would have picked for me as a wife. But it was never going to happen.

As soon as Isabelle was out of the picture, we’d be back to reality.

At night, I offered Isabelle the guest room. She fell asleep very easily.

Finally, Reese and I were going to have a chance to talk alone.

She was in the kitchen, cleaning up the dishes from the dinner she’d cooked for us. All I wanted to do was wrap my arms around her and fuck her right there on the kitchen table.

But she turned to me and asked, “What’s happening to him? Brayden?”

“My brothers have run him out of town. Made sure he has no remaining interest to return.”

“It’s going to be very difficult for Isabelle to get over that.”

  “She’ll live,” I growled.

Reese nodded and licked her lips.

“I don’t know what you have planned for me tonight or for the future, but I just want to thank you for letting me help today. For letting me feel human,” she said.

I wanted to thank her for giving me a glimpse of what a normal relationship would look like. But I didn’t.

I still needed to stay in command of the situation.

“We’re going to sleep in my room tonight. I don’t want Isabelle asking questions about why you’re in the basement.”

  She nodded.

  * * *

Reese wasn’t in the bed beside me when I woke up the next morning.

We’d gone to sleep after I made her come twice in a row. It felt like the most natural thing to do. To return to a shared bed at the end of the day and have sex like any other couple would do.

Did we have sex or make love?

That was the thought in my mind as I’d drifted off to sleep last night. She was in my arms.

  This morning, she wasn’t.

I jumped out of bed and hurriedly put my clothes on before bursting out of the room. I heard their voices instantly.
