Although I feel there is this distance

That lies between she and I

And every time I'm with her

This heartbreak makes me want to die

And tonight I'm going to risk this

Because I know I have to try

Even if this is the end here

  Even if she says goodbye

  Bunny, I love you.

Nearly every time I see you

I fall in love with you again

I have to keep on telling

My heart that this will never end

Nearly every time I'm near you

I'm gonna hold you in my arms

I tell my heart to not look back

  And forget those former fears

  Nearly every body knows it

  Nearly every one we've known

  They all talk about us

And they say I am your own

Nearly every time I see you

I fall in love with you again

I have to keep on telling

My heart that this will never end

Nearly every time I'm near you

I'm gonna hold you in my arms

I tell my heart to not look back

  And forget those former fears

  Nearly every body knows it

  Nearly every one we've known

  They all talk about us

And they say I am your own

Gradually, before people realized it, even before Margaret had finished singing, Jacqueline's pulse picked back up and she began breathing again, but when Margaret kissed the girl, not only did some of the crew gasp, so too did Jacqueline.

More precisely, she took in a deep gaping breath as if she had surfaced from deep under water and as she did her back arched and eyes opened wider than they ever had before.

Scooping up the young girl in her arms, and holding on tight, the weakened, oxygen starved child reached up slowly and returned the embrace.

  Episode 9

“For Whom The Bell Tolls, Sharing The Blame”

Yui Shunokoi lay in an oxygen tent, IV drip in her arm, but awake.

The doctor had put a shunt in her artery and she was doing well.

Jacqueline was wheeled in by Margaret to see her.

Jacqueline took up her mother's pudgy hands in her own small hands.

“You...” she breathed with effort, “You saved my child twice now.” her eyes rolled around as if she were in a seizure for a moment, but she recovered and regained focus, “But you terrify me so.”

“Yes Mrs. Shunokoi,” the rock star acknowledged, bowing slightly, “I am sorry for that.”

“I fear for my child,” she said then panted for a moment, “I fear this world will eat her alive.”

“I understand Mrs. Shunokoi,” she added.

  “Do you though?” she wondered.

“Yes Mrs. Shunokoi,” she affirmed, “I had to run away from my own mother when I was fourteen.”

“Wh...why would you have to do that?” she asked, a pained look of incomprehension on her face, “Didn't your mother love you?”

“My mother was a bad person Mrs. Shunokoi,” she said, “Not like you.”

“How so?” she really wanted to know and her brow was furrowed with determination to find out.

“Jacqueline doesn't even know what happened ma'am,” she said apologetically, “something no child should ever have to face.”

“I have heard of some really terrible things happening to children,” the older woman replied breathlessly.

“I shall let you use your imagination ma'am.”

“Oh gods,” she moaned, “That bad?” rolling her eyes wildly again, “How did you survive?”

“I stayed away form the house and stayed at school and studied as long as I could ma'am.”

“Then what?” she frowned while speaking weakly, “How did you make it?”

“I did some bad things my self to survive.” she replied, “I stole some stuff and sold it to make enough money for a bus ticket to LA.”

“At the age of 14...” she licked her lips, then turned her desperate and helpless eyes to her one and only child Jacqueline, “Where will my baby be at that age?”

  Ep 9, Chapter 2

They were all in Yan's office, he was standing behind Jacqueline who was sitting in the wheel-chair still, while Margaret and Anna had been sitting in the two chairs. Jacqueline held onto his slender hands with her own tiny hands.

Jacqueline was released into the care of Anna, and Margret’s peace bond was lifted, although there was a stern warning from Yan that she was to be home no later than 10pm and that she was to be treated as a lady in every manner according to Japanese tradition for maidens of high birth, and she could only leave the house when her homework was finished.

“That sounds like a fair deal sir...ah-hem...or...ummm?” Margaret said blushing.

“I love you daddy.” Jacqueline said, seeming for all the world to have not been paying attention to the whole discussion as she sat in the wheelchair.

“I love you too baby,” he squeaked in the most feminine manner, fondly stroking her thick black hair, “You be good now and don't be scaring your parents any more, okay?”

“Okay daddy.” she chirped softly as Anna rose to take the child out toward the elevator.

“I'm in a family of small furry animals.” Margaret thought to herself as she stood to depart, “Its like Alice in Wonderland only the March Hare is now married and runs an aerospace company.” she resisted the powerful urge to smirk by pretending to sneeze into her hand.

“Oh!” she said aloud, “Excuse me!” reaching for the tissues on the desk, “I think the trip over here was a bit dusty!”

“That will do, please do not give me a cold or any such thing?” the extremely ladylike looking man chirped nervously, waving them out of his office, “I'm sure there's enough confusion in this family for one day without me getting sick too!”

  Ep 9, Chapter 3

When Jacqueline returned to school, she acted as if absolutely nothing had happened.

Although Margret’s car was a bit scuffed up from its run in with stationary objects outside of the normal boundaries of the road, it still ran just fine, so she was not in a hurry to have it repaired just yet.

“I thought I saw a pair of wild banshees running from the law,” one seventh grader said, “What?” she smirked, “A publicity stunt because your band sucks?”

“Yeah,” Marge said, “Sure thing, whatever you say,” as she shoved the younger girl back and then took up Jacqueline's arm and walked her into the building.

  Ep 9, Chapter 4

At lunch time, Margaret took the time to go around with all of Jacqueline's teachers to get her missed assignments as well as showing the medical report which terrified some of them.

“And if we could say maybe get all of this week's assignments as well please?” she smiled.

Even without knowing what the deal was, they did not hesitate to give all of their advance lessons for Jacqueline.

As they took down the lists, several eyes were watching, although nobody said anything to them.

“Okay,” Marge said, “And if we hurry, we can still get something to eat!”

  “Okay!” she trilled happily.

They walked briskly to the cafeteria where the rest of the band had been waiting patiently.

“Did you get them all?” Julie asked.

“Yep,” Margaret said, “We're in like flint.” and she put out her fist for Julie to knuckle bump.

“Well just make sure she's all set so we get there in time,” Rachel said nervously, “We are the opening act.”

“Oh geez-looeeze!” Lily said, “Lighten up Rach! We have the speed demon here on our side!” giggling.

“Actually the Limo will be meeting us at Bunny's place.” Marge said, “So we'll leave there and meet Anna at my place so she can change into her outfit for the show.”

  “What's she wearing?” Tammy asked.r />
“I haven't seen it my self,” Marge said, “Anna said she had been down on Rodeo Drive and scouted around for a gown for her to wear at a relative's wedding some time in the spring, but then at the last moment the bride to be eloped with some other dude and the wedding was canceled.” she shrugged.

“Yeah,” Jacqueline chimed in, “That was my cousin Shang.”

“So then she says, she just had them hang onto the information, and today she went back and made a few minor changes to the order and they had it delivered.”

“Do her parents know about this?” Rachel asked.

“Apparently not,” Marge sighed with a hopeful tone, “It seems she took it in while they were away and stashed it.”

“Okay.” Rachel replied nervously, “We'll just have to trust they don't get word of this.”

“Yeah,” Marge said, “I told them we were just going to see a show and have dinner then come right back.”

The tall seventh grader loitered around in the dining room long after she finished eating, until she saw Margret’s group get up and leave.

After they went out the door, she took her tray in a round about path which led by their favored corner table and with a swift move of her one free hand, reached under the edge of the table and pulled something out and slipped it into her purse.

  Ep 9, Chapter 5

The concert was this coming Saturday night.

They worked extra hard to get every bit of homework all caught up, and even had the chance to show it to Yui because she had come home and was on sick leave.

“You two be careful out there.” she admonished in a firmer tone, closer to her usual strength, “I'll send Anna out after you if you don't get home on time.”

  “Yes, ma'am,” Margaret replied humbly.

Because it was Saturday, and because the show was on that evening, Margaret slept in until six pm, then called the band members over to pack up their gear in the truck.

As they loaded their amps and instruments into a large box truck with the name “Bleeding Cyanide” emblazoned on it, Margaret made a call to their manager to make a final pre-show check on the gig.

“Yeah.” Margaret said, “Yeah, those are the rules, must be home by 10 pm.”

“We should have no problem with that,” came over the speaker, “We'll have the limo waiting.”

With that she left the girls to the work of tying everything down while she got into her costume and left down stairs, got in her Corvette and headed for the Shunokoi residence.

“Okay girls,” Julie said, pulling down the roll-down door on the back of the truck, “I've got the truck, you all get dressed and lock it up here.”

“Okay then,” Rachel said, “We'll meet the limo driver down here in three minutes.”

  Ep 9, Chapter 6

Margaret came back to the apartment tower in a limousine, and Jacqueline was with her, in her usual fat suit and school uniform.

They met Anna there in the underground garage and she turned to look at her date and newest band member.

“Are you sure you're up to this?” she asked the thirteen year old blind girl, as the three of them went up the elevator.

Yes!” Jacqueline trilled, “I've been waiting since forever!”

“Being in front of all those people doesn't bother you any?”

“Why should it?” she asked rhetorically, “I can't see them anyway.”

“Good point.” she smiled amused, “Then shall we do this?” and she unlocked the apartment door.

Jacqueline had Anna's help getting dressed behind the closed door of her bathroom, while Margaret used her bedroom.

When she came out in a Gothic Lolita style outfit with the big buckled up platform boots on and Jacqueline was standing there, she almost fainted.

“Oh...my...god...” she slowly let out, “I am SO in love!”

  Anna raised an eyebrow sternly.

“I mean...with the look...I mean.” she said hesitantly.

“You best be sure to keep the hands on the musical instruments.” Anna waggled a finger at the wildly garish punk metal rock star.

“Yes ma'am,” the eighteen year old replied sheepishly.

Right before her though, stood a bodacious vixen in the gleaming red silk dress and sparkling ruby red shoes, “You look ravishing!” she admired, trying not to think lustful thoughts, “I just can't get over how unbelievably beautiful you look!”

“My fair lady,” Margaret put on an air of being a cultured noblewoman and asked, “Shall we depart thence?” as she extended her arm for Jacqueline to accept.

As the lovely young singer to be accepted that arm she replied, “Lets!”

  Ep 9, Chapter 7

When the quake of 2019 tore up Los Angeles, they rebuilt all of down town, and the old Staples Center had been replaced with a brand new, super megalithic super stadium in its place.

  The Staples Arena was packed.

There were 110,000 screaming fans at the show.

As their limousine pulled in to the reserved area and they disembarked for the elevators, reporters from all over the world were there trying to see who all was coming into the VIP entry way.

Cameras flashed by the thousands it seemed.

  “What's sparkling?” Jacqueline asked nervously.

“Cameras.” Margaret replied, not even thinking about the potential ramifications of this, but she was basking in the glory of being here at the mecca of all the west coast with the love of her life on her arm, about to perform to the largest audience in the history of the city.

They rode up nine stories and into the VIP area where they met up with the rest of the band who were also in their mad cross of Gothic and Lolita garb.

There was food, and people, some were easily recognized stars and band members, others, like Jacqueline were merely guests, but they all looked like blurs to Jacqueline so she paid then no attention whatsoever.

“Oh! Margaret!” a tall bronze skinned blond in a golden satin backless gown and gold strap heels came up, “Who's this with you here?” extending her hand toward them.

“This is my date.” she said, “She's blind.”

The woman leaned a little closer and looked at Jacqueline's shaking eyes and realized there was no focus or recognition on them and got a slightly distasteful look.

“What?” she asked slyly, “Low self esteem? Or just can't pick up anybody that can see your scary face?”

  “Watch it Meredith,” she warned.

“Well,” she shrugged, “Its not like you did too BAD for your self,” she said in a dismissive tone, “But you COULD have done BETTER....” turning her lower half as if to flaunt her perfectly tanned, athletically sculpted physique.

“I think I have the best now, thank you very much,” the amazon replied dismissively.

“Suit your self,” Meredith replied coolly as she drifted off into the crowd to greet other people.

“She is very dangerous.” Margaret whispered.

  “I know.” Jacqueline whispered back.

  Ep 9, Chapter 8

As the band got on stage, and the lights all came up, their agent had arranged a nice little mechanical device there in which Jacqueline lay flat on her back, hidden by the stage mounted amplifiers. A lacy black veil lay across the front of the box. One could right up close see through it dimly, but at more than the distance from the audience to the box, it would not be anything distinct.

“Okay,” Margaret shouted out to the audience, “I'm going to have to give you all a great big let down tonight.

“Because tonight,” she said, trying to seem somber, “We are not doing our own vocals.”

This led to a huge murmur of from the audience.

“Nope,” she said, making a push wave at the crowd, “Not doin' 'em.”

All kinds of hissing and booing went on.

“Wait, wait,” she said, “Just hold your peace, after all, I know you all didn't come out here to see Bleeding Cyanide anyhow, so just wait us out and when we're
done, we'll let the REAL musicians take the stage.”

“So,” she said, “I got this little black box here in front of me,” she said while lightly kicking the box Jacqueline was laying in, “And its going to do all the vocals for us.”
