Arresting Lilith

Lilith’s scream brought him back to reality as he pummeled his cock into her. Letting her hair go he placed his hands on her ass spreading her open and deepening his pumps. The same mark on the escort in the footage was on Lilith’s back. And in that moment his intuition imploded.
Lilith pushed her ass back against him as he fucked her furiously. She was seconds away from coming. Declan pulled her body against his so her back met his chest while lifting her right leg to rest on the desk. Almost instantly he hit her g-spot forcing her climax to explode within her. She collapsed on the desk and shook violently.
Declan was amazing. Sexually incomparable but even more so romantically incomparable. She loved him and found herself willing to do what it would take to be with this man. Declan came inside her and collapsed on her back. He kissed the birthmark on her back and silently knew. He decided to relish in this moment with her, as it may be their last together.
“I love you Declan,” Lilith murmured sweetly.
“And I love you baby,” Declan whispered in her ear as he held her tight.

A call sent her morning into a fritz. Donavan Goode began talking, implicating her in his dealings. One of the prosecution’s assistants was her inside rat and had informed her they were building circumstantial evidence on her and were likely to issue a warrant for her arrest. It was time to cut her losses and get out of town. The idea of leaving Declan behind had her crying since she had gotten off the phone. She couldn’t tell him. How would she explain it? She’d spent her life running. No matter what she felt this would be no different. Her heart was heavy but the last thing she needed was life in prison.
With her Louis Vuitton black backpack and matching suitcase and duffle bag in each arm she headed towards the door. Panic set in and she fought it tooth and nail. If she could get in the car and drive to her destination point she’d be fine. Thoughts of Declan crossed her mind but she shook her mind free of him. When Lilith went to open the door, the knob turned and flew open pushing her backwards.
“Y-You...it-where a-ar-are you g-going?” Declan stuttered, still unable to believe what he saw in the evidence room at the station. That is until he set his eyes on the luggage and Lilith’s panicked look sprawled on her face.
“Shit!” Lilith scoffed. “Declan. Listen I have to-I have a family emergency-”
“Don’t you lie to me!!! You were leaving! It was you...I don’t understand.” He pushed her back into the home and slammed the door shut blocking her exit.
“And what are you going to do? You thought it was a whore... different woman every week. Never knew there was a girlfriend. I didn’t say a word in the interrogation room. I never gave you an inkling it was me. Great police work I have to tell you. Epic fail. Really.” Lilith’s tone was hard and arrogant.
“I’m in love with you,” Declan said.
“And I’m in love with you,” Lilith replied feeling weak.
“You lied to me.” He scowled.
“Yeah I did. I told you I wouldn’t let myself get hurt again. That I’d always look out for number one, and that was me.” Her heart was heavy and Lilith’s mind was racing.
“So...what were you doing with me?” Declan couldn’t make sense of it. He didn’t understand why Lilith would even undertake the relationship with him as it would only cause him to pay more attention to her than less.
“The first time, that was a fluke right? But...every time after Declan-shit, I don’t have time for this right now. I have to get out of here.” Lilith tried to pass him but the blank expressionless look on his face stopped her. He was in uniform and in those dreaded steel toe boots she hated.
“Are you here to arrest me?”
Declan stared into her eyes, attempting to decide his next move. “Lilith.”
“Do it then. Where’s your backup huh?” She dropped her bags pushing past him and swung open the door. No one outside. Turning around he was already facing her. Pressing her hands along his chest she felt no vest. “Is that what you came here to do?”
“I just reviewed the tapes...and I saw it. Your birthmark. Same as on all the hookers in the video surveillance. I was the only one who saw.” Declan’s nerves were shot.
Lilith rested her back against the door. “What do you want from me Declan? You know what I am, and you know who I am.”
He was burning with anger. Sure he knew that Lilith had some less than ladylike tendencies, and sure she had a little more knowledge about manipulation than a woman ought to but this was not what he expected. Did she even care about him or was she using him the entire time? Fury scorched Declan’s heart. “I have two choices. Take you in or let you go. And honestly-”
“You mean three choices?” Declan’s brow furrowed in her response. “You can come with me,” Lilith said hopefully. Rare indeed that she’d show such vulnerability but if she was being honest she wanted to run away with Declan.
“Do you have any idea who I am Lilith?” Declan groaned. “Jesus Christ...woman, you’re asking me to give up my career, my life, everything I have here. What makes you even think I would? That’s what’s wrong with you Lilith! You are so selfish, even before, even now you only think about yourself. As if your life has so much more meaning than mine or anyone else’s. You deserve to serve time for aiding and abetting Donavan Goode.”
Instantly regretting what he said Declan sighed. Frustration couldn’t compare to what he felt now. Torn because of his love for her, but when did Lilith ever really commit to him. Besides the ridiculous amount of passion they shared, Lilith never told him she needed him. She always had a way of making him feel like she could do everything by herself. Though honestly that’s what he adored about her, it still would have sated him to feel needed by her. “I don’t even know exactly how you were involved but I have a feeling with your cunning, you were more than fifty percent vested, if not the brains of the operation.”
Lilith saw the agony in his face and the betrayal in his voice. His pain was evident. She remained steadfast and nonchalant. “Do you think I’m going to look good in prison orange? Besides...what will happen if they find out you and I have been together since the arrest of my ex-boyfriend? You think you’ll look good in prison orange too?” Lilith cracked.
He rolled his eyes. “Wise ass...”
All she could think of was getting out of the house. Falling in love was never part of the plan. “Declan...I’m not going to jail, but I love you and I don’t want to leave you. If I have to choose...between you and going to jail-all I can say is I’m not going to jail.”
She picked up her bags one more time and turned to walk out the door. Before she could get both feet out she heard his gun cock. She cringed. Looking out her peripheral the mirror on the wall showed Declan’s 9mm trained on her back.
“Don’t move Lilith Tate.” Declan couldn’t let her get away, regardless of what he felt or didn’t feel. It was true that he had fallen in love with her. It was also true that he would do just about anything for her. But could he leave his life behind? All his life since he could remember watching cop dramas while his mom was at work? The idea of being the alpha male in charge of a team of like minded men cleaning up the streets from inconsiderate leeches of the people?
She could keep moving but she was almost as sure as could be that Declan would shoot her. If she stayed she would likely serve time in prison. If she ran Declan would be all she ever thought about. Lilith felt a pang of regret sit in her gut, knowing if she ran all she would do was to come back for him. If she stayed she would be arrested, charged, and arraigned. They’d find her guilty. She would never mention her involvement with Declan. She’d spare him that. Getting involved with him was the worst idea but she couldn’t stay away from him. She needed him.
“Okay.” She dropped her bags and turned around. “Fine.” Tears streamed down her face, annoying her to no end. Emotion was a bitch if ever there was one.
Confused he took his finger off the trigger. “What?” The tears were a nice
touch. Unseen before but she was a class act.
Lilith wiped her face and her eyes met his. Sadly she spoke. “I’m sorry...for hurting you. I never meant to. I wasn’t even going to see you after the first time we were together. Never thought I’d like a lawman. But I do. I love you. Hurting you by hurting your career is the last thing I want to do. If I leave and you don’t come with me, I’ll only think of you.” Declan lowered his gun and stepped closer to her.
“If I stay...I’ll keep quiet and face the consequences. All I’ve ever done is look out for myself, and I’m not sorry for that Declan, I’m not. I don’t regret it. I only regret being selfish with you. So do what you need to Declan Weber. But I need you and I rather stay here and face that than run and lose you forever-” She paused watching him as he intently eyed her. “Which may happen anyway,” Lilith mumbled.
“I didn’t say anything. No one knows. If you need to go. Just go.” He holstered his gun and sat on the floor. “I can’t go anywhere. I won’t leave.”
Lilith’s instinct was to run and just as she was about to she realized in the midst of her own selfishness Declan saved her when he could have simply turned her in. She dropped her bags and sat down in front of him on the floor. His gorgeous blue eyes met hers.
For the first time Declan saw vulnerability in her eyes. “What now?”
“I’m here,” Lilith answered quietly.
“For how long?” Declan sighed. Surely she would be gone soon enough even if not right now.
She held his hand and kissed him passionately. “I’m not running Declan.”
