I winked. “That’s your only hint.”
We found Khloe and let her know we were leaving. She ordered us to stay put for five more minutes. I watched as she made her way around to the guests, handing out small boxes. They all formed two lines, creating a bit of a funnel to the exit doors.
“I think that’s our cue to leave,” Sade said when Khloe waved us to go.
“What do you think they’re going to throw at us?” I asked.
“With Khloe, you never know. Cover your eyes!”
I grabbed her hand, and we made our dash for the door. We were assailed by bright red rose petals. By the time we made it to the waiting limo, we had petals in our hair. She was plucking some from the front of her dress and giggling.
The limo drove us straight to the airport where the private jet I had chartered was waiting. It had been a bit of a point of contention between us, but I insisted we fly private. I had convinced her by telling her we would be on a very long flight and it was technically our honeymoon. The jet included a bedroom with a bed, which had been the final selling point.
We boarded the jet in our wedding attire. Our luggage had already been taken aboard, along with a change of clothes for each of us. We settled into our seats and were quickly delivered glasses of champagne from the single flight attendant making the cross-ocean journey with us.
“Are you going to tell me where we’re going yet?” she asked as the plane ascended into the sky.
I grinned. “Have you ever been to Greece?”
Her mouth dropped open. “No! Really?”
I nodded. “Really. I’m looking forward to warm water and sandy beaches for the next two weeks and maybe a little sightseeing.”
“Oh my god. I’m so excited!”
“Good.”
I took her hand in mine and kissed the top of it. The fading city lights below were mesmerizing. We had both been working hard the last two months, and the honeymoon was sorely needed. I couldn’t wait to get away from the business and her work. I was leaving my phone off and focusing on living in the moment with her. Every moment with her was precious.
“I love you,” she whispered.
“I love you more,” I told her.
She smiled. “That is an argument that could go on for days.”
“I love to see you happy.”
“Speaking of me being happy, what did you and my dad talk about? I saw you two step into the hall.”
I grinned. “He scolded me for the elopement—again. And then he welcomed me to the family.”
Tears filled her eyes. “Good. That makes me very happy.”
I squeezed her hand again. “Now that we’re high in the sky, why don’t we change out of these clothes?”
She grinned. “And change into something else?”
I laughed. “Maybe our birthday suits.”
She burst into laughter and followed me down the short aisle to the bedroom. I locked the door behind me. It seemed a little silly to have a flight attendant on board. I didn’t plan on leaving the bedroom anytime soon. We weren’t going to be in need of drinks or anything else.
I helped her out of her dress and hung it on the waiting hanger. She was wearing a very sexy white lace teddy that made me very happy I had convinced her to fly private. I was glad I hadn’t known she’d been wearing that under her gown. I would have dragged her straight from the wedding to the plane.
“I love you,” I said before kissing her again.
“I love you. I’m so damn glad you’re my husband.”
“Always and forever.”
