‘GRACEEE. I WILL KICK IN THAT DAMN DOOR IF YOU NOT OPEN IT SOON. VERY SOON!’

I cowered back as I heard his powerful voice roaring through by ears.

The door broke off his hinges and fell on the floor with a loud bang.

I screamed all the air out of my lungs and buried my head in my arms that were around my knees. I kept screaming as I felt two strong arms pick me up. my arms fell from around my knees and my head shot up to the man who picked me up. My eyes came in contact with two green eyes. I started to struggle and hit him in the face with my hands. He caught my hands in his and turned me around so my back was against his chest. He held me with a strong grip so I couldn’t escape.

‘No.’ I whimpered. ‘Please don’t hurt me.’

‘Shhh, I won’t, I promise.’ He whispered in my ear.

My eyes dropped as exhaustion hit me like a brick. I felt the man pick me up bridal style as darkness overtook me.

  ~

I woke up to a voice saying my name over and over again. The voice was soothing and sounded like an angel.

I opened my eyes and the first thing I saw were two bright green eyes.

I shot upright in the bed and crawled to the back, away from the man standing at the foot end of the bed. I looked at the man and saw him staring at my chest, his eyes were filled with lust and darkening every second. I looked down at my chest and saw that I was wearing a white shirt. I crossed my arms in front of my chest and I looked away from him.

He cleared his throat and combed a hand through his black hair.

‘Change yourself into that dress and in five minutes I will come back to talk to you.’

I nodded softly and heard him walking out of the room. I climbed out of bed and looked in the mirror. a white shirt was covering my body. It was awkwardly big and I didn’t have any underwear on.

  Wait.

why am I not wearing underwear? Did he see me naked? O my god, did he rape me?! No, right? I mean, that would hurt right and would leave bruises or something like that. O god, I hope he didn’t. I wanted my first time to be kind of special. I didn’t have high expectations, though, I just wanted it to be nice and with someone I liked.

I grabbed the purple dress and put it on. It showed all my good curves. My butt was just average and my boobs were a C cup. I have a small taille and a rounding by my hips.

As I looked in the mirror at my body I spotted a bruise on my left underarm. It had the form of a hand and was blue with purple stains around it. I trailed my finger over it and felt a small sting.

I was still looking at my bruise as the door opened and the green-eyed man walked in.

I stood frozen in my place and my breaths became unsteady. I felt my body lightly began to shake of all the fear that ran trough my body.

‘Grace?’ I softly whimpered as he said my name in a monotone voice.

  ‘Y-yes?’

  ‘Come with me.’

I didn’t know he had walked to my side, so when he grabbed my arm, which was bruised, I screamed out of shock and pain at the same time. My knees began to tremble and I fell to the floor as he let go of my arm. I sobbed loudly as the pain that shot through my arm was unbearable.

‘N-no please d-don’t h-hurt me a-anymore.’ I sobbed as I caressed my arm in my chest and softly stroked the bruised skin.

‘Who did this?’ He asked in a voice that didn’t show any emotion.

‘T-the man who brought m-me here.’ I whispered in fear.

‘Grace, I am not going to hurt you. I’m here to help.’ He said to me.

I looked up and saw him standing a step away from me. He took the last step and he was kneeling in front of me. his eyes were soft but that was the thing what scared me off. I crawled away from him and pleaded him to not hurt me. I looked him in his eyes and saw his eyes hardening by my words. He stood up and walked away from me.

He was by the door and looked at me for the last time. His eyes were back to his usually dark green eyes as he closed the door on me once again.

I heard him shouting orders at men and heard his footsteps stalking away from the door.

I heard him shout at someone in a terrifying voice that made me cower away in the corner of the room.

My mother always told me that after the storm there would be silence. The silence came but not the way it was wished from me. I wished for a peaceful silence, one that would be caused by talking. not one that would be caused by violence and anger. I knew that my mother didn’t have a peaceful ending but that didn’t mean I didn’t wish it to someone else. everyone deserved a happy and a peaceful ending, despite the bad thing that you may have done. God didn’t give second chances for you to waste. You had to caress it, love it and live for it. Because that would be the only change for you to experience life once again. you may had the choice but others didn’t. they didn’t have a choice, their destiny was already set.

And for the man that stood in front of the green-eyed man, his destiny was already made the moment he made his second big mistake in life. God didn’t save him a third chance. I knew that for sure.

Because one minute later, I heard a trigger being pulled.

  Chapter 4

It has been over three days since the man stepped out of the doorway. I always wondered what his name would be. Maybe it was short but strong, or long and sexy. I hoped on the last option of course, who wouldn’t?

I sat on the floor on a soft carpet thinking about the event that happened three days ago. I wondered who it was, who was now dead and no more in this world. And I know that the bullet which the green-eyed man shot was pointed on the other man’s body. I know that the man who was shot is now dead. I heard him. I heard him fall, exhale his last breath. He was dead for sure.

I don’t know why? Or what? But I can hear and feel when someone dies inside of a periphery of 100 meters.

My mom told me it was a gift, that I should cherish it. And never tell anyone. She said that people would want me for themselves or want me dead if they knew about my gift.

I always found my gift not that special. I mean, you can’t really use me as a weapon or something. I only can feel and hear it when someone dies nearby. So it isn’t really that useful. I wasn’t a fighting machine. I couldn’t even punch with a proper fist. I really should learn that. It will be handy in this kind of situations.

Maybe if I could fight, I would be long gone from this place. I mean the room is great, but the people? That’s a different kind of story. I actually loved the room, if I could live here forever, I would.

The room that I had, after my mom died, was small. The only thing I had was a bed, a pillow, and a blanket. My father didn’t really like me, he liked my sister, though. He loved her, he gave her everything. She had a big room with a double bed, her own bathroom, and much more stuff. They both hated me. They hated me because I was a replica of my mom. I had her bright blue eyes, her curled brown hair and her small nose. My sister looked like my dad. Both brown eyes and straight dark brown hair.

My sister envied me when I was little because of my relationship with my mom. It always was me and my mom against my sister and my dad. So, after my mom died it was me against my sister and my dad. I was all on my own. I had to do all the chores in the house and if I missed a spot, my dad would beat me up like a punching bag. When that happened my sister would look with a smug smile on her face. Her eyes would sparkle with something I couldn’t understand. How could she do this? I was her sister. I was made of the same blood and flesh as she was. But she wasn’t in this world anymore to hurt me again.

It was a Monday evening and my dad and sister just came home. They went out to grab some food for themselves but they didn’t bring any for me.

I heard my dad walk up the stairs as I laid on my bed. My bedroom door was kicked open and my dad strolled in. He walked towards my bed and started taking off his clothes. He never did that before, so I was really confused. Normally he would just beat me up as I would pull up a fight. But this time, it was diffe
rent. His jacket was on the floor next to his shoes. He came towards me and I scooted away from him. I pressed myself against the wall as he came closer. He was now on the bed as well and pulled me with my ankle towards him. I started kicking and screaming as he strengthened his grip on me. He hovered above me as I laid under him in a vulnerable position. I was locked in. I couldn’t move. I was trapped like an animal in a cage.

He started ripping off my clothes and that was the moment I realized what he was doing. He was going to rape me. I began slapping him in the face and kick my legs to try to come out of his grip. He grunted as I sunk my nails in his cheeks. He grabbed my hands in one of his hands and with the other he slapped me in the face. My cheek stung and tears started to pool out of my eyes. I protested as he started pulling off my jeans.

I was only in my underwear as he started taking off his pants off. I heard a loud scream from downstairs that was coming from my sister.

My dad jumped off of me and sprinted to the door. He pulled the door open and sprinted off the stairs. I heard a loud bang from a gun being used.

‘SELENA?!’ he screamed at my sister.

I felt a wave of relieving that my father was off of me.

‘NO!! NO! SELENA?!’ I heard my dads pleading voice.

I felt a small feeling of gratitude as I heard Selena breathing out her last breath of life, as I felt the life float out of her body.

I quickly put on my shirt and jeans. I silently walked down the stairs and looked in the living room for any sign of my father and my dead sister. I spotted them in front of the doorway to the kitchen. My dad was holding my sister’s limp body as he silently cried for her to come back to him. I saw the blood that trailed down my sisters chest onto the floor and made a puddle next to my dad.

I looked at the front door and made a run for it. I pulled open the door and ran outside. I ran till the blood was out of my legs and the oxygen couldn’t make it to my lungs.

Finally, I was gone from that horrible place. Finally, I was free again.

I hid in a dark alley and slept there for the night.

The night after that was the night those two men found me and brought me here. In one way I was thankful to them. They brought me here and that way my father couldn’t find me again. He couldn’t take me again and torture me. Now that my sister is gone I know for sure he is going to try and find me. He would want to punish me for what happened to Selena. Even if I wasn’t the one who did it. I wasn’t the one who pulled the trigger and put a bullet in her chest. Sometimes I silently hoped I could do it. Hoped I could have made an end to my suffering and kill my father and my sister. But I couldn’t. I wasn’t strong enough to do that.

I stood up from the floor and walked to the bathroom to take a cold shower and wash the bad feelings out of my system.

I felt the cold water ran down my body and gave me a refreshing feeling.

  Chapter 5

After I showered I put on some clothes I found in a dresser. I wore a gray tank top and black jeans. They felt like my seconds skin.

  I became bored.

I had absolutely nothing to do here. I couldn’t go out of this room because the door is locked. There aren’t any books to read or devices to use. I couldn’t watch tv, ’cause there wasn’t one. So, I had to entertain myself. So, I started cleaning.

After I was finished and everything was clean I sat on the couch. My stomach rumbled and I started craving food.

They usually leave some food in my room when I am asleep. But this morning there wasn’t any. So, I just assumed they forgot or something like that.

I heard footsteps coming near my door and a lock being opened. The green-eyed man stepped inside and looked around the room,

Searching for something. His eyes landed on me and he held his gaze.

He started walking to me with steady steps. I became nervous, so, I sat up straight on the couch.

‘Grace?’ His voice sounded soft and secure. I answered him as I became more at ease by his soft voice.

  ‘Y-yes?’

  ‘Would you like some breakfast?’

I looked up into his eyes and softly nodded my head.

  ‘Alright, come with me.’

He turned around and walked to the door. I stayed on the couch and waited till he noticed that I didn’t follow him.

‘Grace, come.’ He said when he saw me sitting on the couch.

‘A-are you going to h-hurt me?’ I asked softly but loud enough so he could hear me.

He walked to me and kneeled in front of me.

‘No, Grace, I’m not going to hurt you. I will never hurt you.’ He said as he looked me in the eyes.

He stood up and offered me his hand. I put my shaking hand in his and softly held onto his hand. His hand was warm and soft. My hand fitted exactly in his like it was made for each other.

He pulled me off the couch and let go of my hand. We walked to the door and he silently opened it. I followed him through the house without asking questions.

When we were walking down a hallway I spotted a man. He was walking towards us and had a gun in his pants.

I whimpered and hid behind the green-eyed man. He stopped walking as I held onto his shirt from the back. He turned around to face me and look me in the eyes. His hands whipped away the tears that were on my cheeks and he took my hands in his.

‘Grace, we’re not going to hurt you. The man is just here to guard the house. He is not here to hurt me. You understand?’

I nodded as he let go of one of my hands and pulled me with him with the other.

He led me to a kitchen, there was a plate full of food on the counter.

  ‘Sit on the chair, Grace.’

I sat on the chair and he placed the plate in front of me.

He took a chair in front of me and sat on it. I looked at him asking for permission to eat the bacon and eggs.

He smiled and said, ‘Go eat, Grace. You don’t have to ask for permission.’

I ate my food as if I was starved for a year. I grabbed the glass of water and wanted to take a big swig of it, but I stopped. I didn’t want a replica from the last time I drank my water like that. So, I took small sips and let the cold water ran down my throat.

2 minutes later I was finished with eating all of it. My belly felt round again and the hunger was gone.

I looked up at the green-eyed man and blushed.

Fuck, he saw me eating like a fucking cow. He is probably thinking I’m a gross girl who doesn’t have manners.

‘Jesus, were you hungry?’ He looked kind off shocked to be honest.

  ‘Yeah...’

‘Alright. Uhm.. you want to watch some tv?’ He asked me as he looked me in the eyes with a questioning look. I nodded and he led me to the living room.

I sat on the large brown couch as be turned on the tv. He sat on the other side of the couch and we silently watched a movie.

The movie was about a boy who could fly. I think it’s called ‘Peter Pan’, but I don’t know for sure.

When I was little I would watch a movie with my mom sometimes. But not that often ’cause she had to work the whole day. Sometimes it would be too late to watch a whole movie. But after she died, I never saw a movie again.

The green-eyed man turned his head to me and started speaking.

‘Grace? Do you want to know why you’re here?’ I nodded softly and he continued speaking.

’You know your sister and father had some debts. And your father wanted to give you to us as payment. But we didn’t accept ‘cause we don’t do that kind of things. But your father got angry and said he would come for revenge. So, I went to your house and heard you screaming and saw your sister in the kitchen. She came to me with a knife, tried to stab me. But I shot her first. Then I ran from the house as I heard your father coming down the stairs.’

Tears were in the corner of my eyes, but I pushed them away.

He continued with the story but I already knew what was happening next.

  ‘After th
at night, me and the other man found you in the dark alley and brought you here.’

He looked me in the eyes with an emotion I never saw before. I think it was hope.

‘But you have to understand that you can’t leave the house, only when I’m with you, we can go somewhere. But don’t leave alone. Now you are one of us and our enemies are yours now too.’

‘I understand it’s a lot to take in but we’re all a family in this house.’

I was astonished, to say the least.

I thought he was going to kill me or just throw me out. But he did exactly the opposite.

I was actually kind off relieved I could stay here. I mean, it’s good here. I get enough food from them and they gave me a room. I hope I could keep the room.

  ‘Grace?’

  ‘Yes.’

‘Do you want to know anything?’

I turned my head and looked into his bright green eyes. They had a small amount of brown in them and all different kinds of green. He had a soft look in his eyes. Not the hard and filled with hatred look my father always gave me.

I had a question. I really wanted to know it. It was an important detail to the story. So, I just asked it hard enough so he could hear me.

  ‘What is your name?’

  Chapter 6

‘My name?’ He asked with a shocked expression.

  ‘Yes.’

He frowned and looked me in the eyes. ‘Giovanni, my name is Giovanni LaRosa.’

I smiled to myself. It’s long and sexy, just what I hoped for.

‘Okay, uhmm...’ I was thinking what question I could ask.

‘Do you do illegal stuff?’ I asked.

  ‘Yes. I do.’ He said.

  Jesus, that was easy..

I nodded my head and thought of the possible thing he did. Maybe he killed more than just my sister. Or he is into drugs. Or woman export. You never know. But I’m already screwed, so fuck it.

‘Am I still staying in the same room?’

‘Yes, and my room is next to yours. So, if you ever need something just come to me.’
