Christmas in Angel Harbor

Turning her to face him, Danny leaned in for a kiss. “You look beautiful. Have I told you that?”

Jane smiled. “I think that makes an even dozen.”

Tucking her arm in his, he walked with her through the different sections. They stopped by different groups of people, the crowd that had gathered almost the same as the one from the year before—all the people who pledged to keep Harbor Books alive.

They’d put their faith in her and she wouldn’t let them down. How could she when love had her back?

Once they reached the large open space that housed the café and the children’s room, Danny handed her a glass of champagne.

Clinking her glass with a small spoon, she was able to quiet the room. “Well,” she began, “here we are again.”

The low rumble of laughter was accompanied by a few exclamations of hear, hear.

“I wouldn’t be standing here without all of you. Your love has made this endeavor possible, and your support over the years has kept my little family whole. That Angel Harbor Books has been able to survive and thrive, is a testament to this wonderful town.” Jane saw her mom, standing with Danny and Tara. They were her reason for everything. “This Christmas Eve open house is the first of what will become an annual event. Like the leg lamp lighting, the light festival, and the thousands of small traditions we have that keep the holidays special, we will keep the doors open on Christmas Eve for our friends and neighbors to come together, enjoy some food and good conversation and the warmth of this amazing town.”

There was a smattering of applause, and the many wonderful smiles shining back at her assured Jane that the years to come were going to be better than she could have ever imagined. It was said that angels resided in their little village once upon a time. Looking out at the sea of faces comprised of family and friends, new and old, Jane had to believe that the angels never left.

  Dear Friends,

  Every book is an adventure.

Bringing the town of Angel Harbor to life was no exception, but along with all the challenges, there was much joy. I based the location on a pretty, waterside village very close to where I live. I often walk along the water’s edge with my dogs, shop in the stores and eat at the restaurants. The main road still has trolley tracks embedded in the pavement, reminding visitors of a time when transportation was provided to the train station a few miles away. And at Christmastime the town is magical.

Long Island (New York) is steeped in stereotypes, and some of them aren’t so flattering. But for every traffic jam on the Long Island Expressway, there’s a quaint village with a thriving downtown, a pretty local beach, a farmer’s market, a vineyard, and of course, there’s always the ocean—vast and powerful. I love setting my stories here, however, because of the people who are warm and wonderful. This is my home, and I feel such pride that my family roots go deep into the sandy soil. It’s a special place and I adore being able to share it.

Christmas in Angel Harbor has been a team effort, and as always, there are a few people to thank. My agent, Stephany Evans, never hesitates to tell me the truth and always has my back. It’s proven to be the perfect combination, and I appreciate her more than you know. My editor, Kelly Hunter, knows just what to say to help be bring out my characters’ deepest emotions. If there’s a scene in this book that makes you cry, it’s because Kelly helped me dig down and find what I needed to pluck those heartstrings. I am truly blessed to work with her. The wonderful Tracy Solheim has proven time and again, to be an advocate, a sounding board, and truly the sister of my heart. She is the friend we all need. My friend Nika Rhone generously gives of her time to offer feedback and encouragement. Thank you, m’dear.

The Tule Team, guided by the vision of the intrepid Jane Porter, has been a beacon in the sometimes difficult and confusing world of publishing. I am at home with Tule, and it’s because of people like Meghan, Nikki, Cyndi, cover artist, Lee—and, of course, Jane—that I have found such joy in my writing.

Lisa Gordon and Hillary Topper…I’m so glad we found each other. Thanks for getting me seen.

Becca Syme—what do I say? I cannot thank you enough for helping me find my words again. Your wisdom, your patience, and your insight have helped me find my way back to the stories I love so much. Thank you. Thank you for everything.

My family and friends are at the heart of everything I do. My husband, children and grandchildren bring me joy each and every day. They are the loves of my life. My extended family, my wonderful friends, and my fellow Tule authors inspire me to take risks and make the next book even better than the last.

Finally, I would be shouting into the void without my readers. Thank you for spending time with me, for each review, each comment on social media, and each email. I love hearing from you, so please keep in touch. Without you, the books might have wings, but there would be nowhere for them to land.

  Stay safe and be well.

  Much love,

  Jeannie
