  Note from the Author

Thank you so much for reading Can’t Walk Away! When things began to get rocky for Mark & Ally in the previous River Bend book, Can’t Get Enough, I knew I had to write their book...and write it fast. I was just so in love the hot sheriff and I envied Ally for being the woman lucky enough to win his heart. I don’t know what it is, but there’s something extra special about this book. I’m truly sad that it came to end, even though Mark & Ally got the well-deserved happily ever after. I’m going to miss them so much! I guess I’ll have to keep adding them into future River Bend books, won’t I? *grin*

So you’re probably wondering who’s up next. Well, I can tell you this—Jenny has a lot more fun in Vegas than you saw in this book. And it wasn’t with any of Mark’s friends or Ally’s brother, Luke. Reed is just about to get knocked on his player ass by a woman from his past (you might have read that prequel, Fall Hard, in the Love Is anthology), and Nick...well, the sexy fire chief has only just begun to have fun in River Bend. Who the heck am I to cut in on that? *wink*

Until the next happily ever after...

  Acknowledgments

This book came together really fast, much in part to the patience and understanding of my family. My husband was an amazing cheerleader, if only by keeping the kids out of my hair and feeding them, too, when I was neck-deep in a scene I couldn’t tear myself away from. I think it’s finally sunk in with him that I’m really doing this author thing...and sometimes I think he’s more excited about it than I am! (Ha, not really. I’m pretty pumped to be doing this and having his backing just makes it more thrilling!)

I also couldn’t have pulled off this book without my critique partners and beta readers Anna Lowe, Bonnie Dee, and Dana, who weren’t afraid to tell me when Mark & Ally were being annoying little twits. Anna even said Mark was being bitchy at one point and I’m pretty sure that’s the moment I fell in love with her. *big grin* I have to give kudos to my author friend, Zoe York, as well, because she’s always the one to talk me off the ledge or slap me up when I’m being annoying myself. Which is pretty often. Love you, girl!

Big hugs and thanks to editor Dana Waganer and cover artist Sommer Stein at Perfect Pear Creative Covers. You’ve both made my book as pretty as can be and I *heart* you so much for it!

Thanks to Sera Bright and Laurie Giese for their EMS and police procedure insight, too. Hugs and kisses, chickie-poos!

Last but not least, I gotta give up to my girls—the Misfits! About a third of the way into this book, I asked them a very important question—should Mark and Ally actually get married in the book or no? They responded with a resounding YES! and I couldn’t have agreed more. They also helped cheer me along in the writing process by posting inspirational pics of Mark—in and out of uniform. Good work, girls! I love you to the moon and back!

  About the Author

Molly McLain has lived in northern Wisconsin all of her life. She’s a proud fan of the Green Bay Packers (let’s not talk about the Seattle playoff game in 2015), fountain soda (though she’s trying to kick it), angsty rock ballads, and jellybeans. She also loves camping and binging on reality TV, but her favorite vice of all is road tripping with the radio cranked. Someday, she hopes to travel the country with her husband and her laptop, because nothing gets the plot bunnies hopping like the wind blowing through her hair.
