Nasty Bitch
Page 29
Vanessa shrugged again, ‘Why not?’ she asked. ‘It was amusing…walking around the village without anyone realising who I was, and then I thought about all you smug bastards with your prissy little lives…and how you’d all judged me. When none of you…none of you had any idea what I’d been through…what I’d suffered. So I decided to create a little havoc…spread a little misery…it was fun.’
‘And what about Jay, Vanessa?’ Carla said trying to control her temper whilst listening to this woman describe her daughters terrifying ordeal as ‘fun’. ‘Was that fun too…he was in bits after you left him…and then when he found out about the real Gina…that was really cruel.’
‘Oh he’ll be alright,’ Vanessa said with a dismissive wave of her hand. ‘He’s a man…they always bounce back…anyway he was my way back home…he was necessary.’
Carla couldn’t listen to her anymore, she read her her rights and a police constable was posted outside the door of the hospital room, until she could be transported to prison.
Jay had stayed on until after Kerry’s trial, but had not come near the station whenever Vanessa had been there to be interviewed, and he didn’t want to attend her court hearing. He had left for Florida a week earlier and seemed glad to be going home.
Carla was dragged back to the present by Tracy who came bustling over and practically fell into the chair next to her.
‘Whatcha thinking honey?’ she slurred drunkenly. ‘Do you know shomething Carla…I love you…I love you and Helen…whoooee, HELEN…HELEN, I LOVE YOU,’ she shouted at Helen as she danced past with Maya in her arms…
‘Oh my god you are completely wasted aren’t you sweety,’ laughed Carla, ‘come on honey let’s get you sat down and I think I’ll get James to get you a coffee…’ she tried to get James’s attention; he had wandered off to sit with some of the other men.
‘Oh and James,’ said Tracy, ‘I love James too…oh and Maggie…Maggie is sooo gorgeous, I love Maggie…’
Hearing her name Maggie came over and burst out laughing. ‘See what happens when you stop eating carbs Trace…she’s only had a bag of wine gums,’ she said to Ruth who had come to sit down with them. Helen arrived dragging Maya with her, ‘I might have known you’d lower the tone of my wedding Tracy...you wait till it’s your turn…which if what I overheard Simon telling Greg about earlier is only a few weeks away, is that right?’
Tracy giggled and hiccupped and giggled some more, ‘Aww my lovely Simon…I love him…we’re going to Ant…Antig…somewhere in the Caribbean and we’re getting married… whooohooo…I LOVE YOU SIMOM…SYMY, SYMY SIMON.’
Simon looked over with raised eyebrows at his future wife, who was now slumped down almost under the table. The other witches were all killing themselves laughing and trying to pull her up into her seat.
‘TRACY!’ your knickers are showing…sit up…’ hissed a giggling, Maggie hauling her up.
‘What’s better than roses round your piano?’ slurred Tracy at the top of her voice, ‘Tulips round your organ…do you get it TWO LIPS round your organ, ha ha ha,’ she dissolved into giggles again along with all the girls at the table.
James, Greg, Wills and Duncan were all sitting with Simon who had his head in his hands with embarrassment.
‘Tracy’s on good form,’ said James with a smirk.
‘I didn’t know anyone could get their legs that far apart and still be standing up,’ mused Greg, ‘that’s pretty impressive.’
‘Uh oh,’ muttered Duncan, ‘looks like someone is going to be very ill…any minute now…ah there we go…wow…wasn’t that Mrs Binworthy’s handbag…wow…awkward.’
Simon, who had been watching the proceedings between his fingers, started to get up to go and take charge, only to have Greg and James pull him back down.
‘Leave it be mate, she’ll be fine…she’s with the witches, they always look after each other.’

Lost Girls
With cruel anticipation, Jonas Silco watched each one as they arrived. He could feel their nervous excitement, their delight in being away from home for the first time. Some of them looked about themselves boldly, not in the least bit intimidated by the splendour of their new environment. Others barely raised their eyes from the floor so overwhelmed were they by the situation they found themselves in….
These were his prey, these young girls…they were all alone in an unfamiliar city, away from all that was familiar to them, away from the protection of their families. He smiled to himself…this was his domain…they were under his control now.
Twenty years later a skeleton is discovered underneath a car park in Redbank and DI Carla Right and her team are called in to investigate. A couple of weeks later a local business man is brutally murdered. Inexplicably, similarities between the two murders soon start to appear, despite the fact that there are twenty years dividing them.
As the evidence begins to unfold however, Carla and her sergeant, Frank Hill, realise that they are dealing with the worst sort of murderer. One who believes he has right on his side, one that won’t stop until he has had his revenge and one who is willing to destroy anyone who gets in his way.
The Witches are back, Carla, Maggie, Tracy and Helen can be found at their usual table in The Bull public house on the green at Kenley. There are weddings and babies on the horizon, plenty of drama to be discussed and lives to be dissected at their weekly cauldron meetings, all washed down with a couple of bottles of wine and of course the obligatory bags of cheesy Wotsits for Tracy.

Run!
Once again Lucinda Hibbard is lying in a hospital bed.
Once again her face is swollen and battered, her body beaten and broken. And once again her violent, brute of a husband is crying and grovelling at her bedside, begging forgiveness and promising that it will never, ever, happen again.
Lucinda doesn’t believe him anymore…she knows how little it takes to turn him from a caring husband into a vicious animal.
She knows next time he could kill her.
That’s why she knows that this time she must run!
Seventy eight year old Flora Metcalf sits terrified night after night in her darkened house. Helpless…unable to defend herself from the little thugs that are terrorising her. She cowers in her chair as they rattle her doors and windows, she cries with dread at the spiteful whispered threats.
She pleads for help…but no one comes.
Should she run…or should she make them pay?
Spite, retribution and betrayal are all speeding towards the quiet little village of Kenley.
It is useless to run, there will be no safe place to hide...like a thick insidious fog it will creep into every crevice, spreading its evil tentacles far and wide. Seeking out the vulnerable, the weak and the damaged.
The Witches of Glory Woods, Carla, Maggie, Tracy and Helen, face their greatest challenge yet. Terrible events that will set them against each other and threaten to tear them apart.
Only their friendship will give them the strength to overcome this latest challenge, but will it be strong enough or will they crumble?
