His Angel: The Wounded Souls Series

“He has those wrinkles right now, in fact. He keeps nudging your breasts like he is trying to get closer,” I said, watching my son dig his face deeper into his mum’s flesh.
“I know. Every time he does, he sucks harder. He sure is a little piggy, isn’t he?” Memphis giggled, looking so delighted and in awe of it all.
“What does it feel like?” I asked, fascinated.
“Well, not to sound gross, but it kind of feels no different to when you do it, only not in a sexual way, of course.” She laughed.
“Of course,” I agreed with a chuckle.
My mouth watered, wanting my turn after Zander went down for the night. We had a long wait ahead of us before we could make love again, but that didn’t mean I couldn’t worship my wife or her me. My mind wandered to last night when Memphis woke me with a surprise blow job. I never forced her into doing that for me when we first started our sexual relationship, but when she was two months pregnant, I finally got around to revealing the new paint job on my bike. After she ran her fingers over the raised paint that formed the angel wings and the small rose I painted in tribute to Lila, my angel dropped to her knees, and right there in the paint booth of the bike shop, Memphis gave me a head job that quite literally blew my mind. Actually, I remembered being ashamed of myself because it took her no more than four minutes of sucking and licking and this great thing she did when she rolled her tongue over the head of my dick before I came like a teenage boy.
“You know I can feel your man meat poking me in the back, Apollo,” Memphis quipped.
I choked back a laugh, nearly waking Zander from his lazy slumber while still feeding.
“Man meat? Are you using one of your dirty novel terms to describe my dick, Angel?”
“Maybe. I pinched it from Charlotte, who is a constant source of terminology. Her preference not to swear is actually helpful, better than a thesaurus.”
I laughed outright this time, and the sound woke Zander, his little growl of annoyance making both of us laugh.
“He is definitely his father’s son. Growling already at the tender age of seven days,” Memphis sassed. Her fingers traced over Zander’s forehead, smoothing his wrinkled brow.
“Oh, my sweet boy, you are so handsome just like your daddy,” Memphis whispered.
I watched, entranced, as Memphis did her thing, moving her index finger lightly from his brows and down his tiny nose, then from there, she traced his mouth and helped him find her nipple again. It was a beautiful thing for someone with sight to watch a blind person to see what we took for granted.
“His eyes?” Without asking, I knew what she wanted to know.
“They are the darkest blue you can imagine, almost black, and they shine like onyx.”
“Just like his daddy,” Memphis said, looking over her shoulder at me. Her eyes shone with unshed tears.
“Yeah, just like me,” I agreed in a hushed whisper as I pressed my lips to the soft skin of her throat.
“We have an appointment with the health clinic tomorrow, remember, and we can’t miss it,” Memphis said, worried, but she had no reason to be. Our baby was not going to suffer the same fate she suffered. We were not going to neglect Zander’s health, no way, no how. Not on your life. He had been given a clean bill of health before being released from the hospital after Memphis insisted on a specialist checking his eyes. There was nothing wrong, of course, but if it made her feel better, then I was all for it.
“Yes, Angel, I know. It is at eleven thirty, so we have plenty of time for our breakfast date with Shiloh, and then off to the clinic. Maybe, on the way home, we can stop and get some of that berry ice cream you love so much, head down to the lake to eat it and watch the swans,” I said between kisses.
“Ah… yes… that sounds lovely.” Memphis panted and arched her neck further to the side, silently urging me to continue my exploration.
Damn, I love this woman. Thank fuck she gave me a chance to be the man she deserves. Every day, without fail, the thought ran through my head. When Lila died, second chances were the last thing on my mind, and then Memphis happened. We had an unconventional start, and I nearly fucked it up more than once. Memphis was the right woman, the only woman for me.
I felt the soft fingertips of my wife lightly wander over my face.
“You are thinking very hard there, Apollo. What’s wrong?” she asked, concerned.
I glanced down at Zander and saw he had fallen asleep, a small amount of milk pooling at the side of his little mouth.
Smiling against her fingers, I pressed a kiss to the pads.
“Absolutely nothing is wrong, Angel. Everything is perfect—our life together is perfect.”
THE END
Acknowledgments
Oh, wow, where do I start? How about thanking every single reader who has read the Wounded Souls, taken this journey with me, and loved the characters just as much as I have.
This world I created has been one of my greatest joys. I cried with them, laughed with them, wanted to tear my hair out because of them, but most of all, I loved them.
This is not the end of the Souls. I am sure I will visit them from time to time, starting with Ford, whose story is already swirling around in my head, and boy, does he know how to talk!
I also want to take a minute to say thank you to the readers who loved Darth and really wanted him to have a book of his own. I am sorry he won’t, but there is no other woman for him—Vegas was his one. I felt it would be insulting her memory to do anything else.
My dear friend and editor, Colleen Snibson, boss, you were with me every step of the way. You encouraged and suggested but never once did you push. You let me get my stories out and tell them the way I wanted. My dream was just as important to you, and with your help, I do believe I succeeded.
Yoda—or as others know her, Rogena, my wonderful co-editor—you took on this crazy Aussie and together, the three of us did pretty good if I do say so myself.
My dear friend Shanneen, others know you as Lila Rose, to me you are my evil gif partner. I love you hard woman.
My daughters, thank you, girls, your support is what kept me going at the wee hours in the morning when I should have been sleeping.
To all the new friends I have made since I released His Sweetness, it is a pleasure knowing you all, and I am proud to call you my friends.
My wonderful and fabulous friend Julie Pfeiffer, I promised you a fitting end to your love affair with Darth, and I think I managed to do exactly that.
I couldn’t possibly end this without saying a very big and heartfelt thank you to my friend, handsome. You really are the nicest and funniest person I have ever met, and thank God I did.
About the Author
Leah Sharelle loves the idea of being in love. Since her early teens, when she first discovered Silhouette Desire novels, her life has been all about reading. She would find herself rewriting scenes if she wasn’t happy with them and then would hide them under her bed. That led her to write love stories of her own. They all ended up under her bed and are still there—where she says they will stay.
Leah is a mum of three beautiful girls, living in Australia, and she has what most say is a weird sense of humour. She spends her free time doing movies, Sons of Anarchy, and Friends marathons. And reading. She doesn’t do angst. In fact, it drives her crazy. She loves Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain. There’s that weird humour.
