Seducing the Boss Lady

Michael held up the oval garnet surrounded by diamonds in a platinum setting. “Will you marry me?”

Peyton’s gaze bounced from the ring, sparkling under the kitchen lights, to Michael, his eyes filled with so much hope.

“Give me a chance to show you how much I love you. I swear I’ll never leave you, nor will I ever push you away again. Peyton Jenkins, please say you’ll be my wife. Will you marry me?”

Peyton nodded. Tears of joy blurred her vision as she wrapped her arms around his neck and he stood tall holding her in his arms.

  “Yes. Yes, I’ll marry you!”

  Four Days Later

“I can’t believe I let you talk me into eloping,” Michael said as he and Peyton lounged in the huge, soaking tub in a Las Vegas hotel room. Bubbles surrounded them as they bathed by candlelight, a bottle of non-alcoholic champagne and glasses sat near the tub.

“You have to admit. It was a great idea.” Peyton turned slightly, and they shared a noisy kiss. She couldn’t remember the last time she was this happy. As a little girl, she had believed in fairy tales, believed that the princess always got her prince. After Dylan had betrayed her, cynicism settled in and though she wanted a second chance at love, she never thought it would happen. Then Michael came along.

“It was an awesome idea, but I’m afraid I might be a bad influence on you. This idea sounded more like it should’ve come from me instead of you.” He ran the sponge down the front of her body and Peyton’s eyes fluttered closed as a peace settled over her.

Sunday, after informing every one of their engagement, she and Michael spent the rest of that evening discussing their future. Michael agreed to travel with her to Vegas, saying he had missed her so much. He wanted to be wherever she was. When asked when she wanted to get married, Peyton told him she didn’t want a long engagement.

The eloping idea hadn’t come to her until early that morning, their fourth day in Vegas after passing by a wedding chapel. At first, Michael insisted on giving her the fairytale wedding, but Peyton shot the idea down. She’d already had the dream wedding when she married Dylan, and their life together disintegrated. An elaborate wedding didn’t guarantee a happy marriage. Getting married in a little chapel on the Las Vegas Strip was so unlike the old Peyton. The new Peyton knew this was just how she wanted to start her life with Michael. Unpredictable. Unpretentious. Simple, like the love they shared.

She opened her eyes when Michael reached for his glass of champagne.

“You know, I liked the old Peyton, the one I used to banter with when we first met. But I’m feelin’ this new you too.” He wiggled behind her and nuzzled her neck, eliciting a laugh.

“Yeah, I like the new me too.”

Michael took another sip from his glass, enjoying the soft jazz floating from the iPod speaker, still trippin’. He was a married man. Peyton had shocked the hell out of him when she told him she wanted a Vegas wedding. He would have married her anywhere, anytime. His only goal — make her happy.

Asking Peyton to be his wife was the best decisions he’d ever made. Before arriving in Cincinnati, he informed his family, including Michaela, of his intentions. Once Peyton said yes, they Facetimed his family to share the news. When Michaela started making plans for her and Peyton, Michael knew he had made the right decision for both him and his daughter.

“So Boss Lady, are you sure you want to change your Los Angeles travel plans? I can take a few more days off. Michaela is perfectly fine with my parents.”

“Positive, but still plan on taking the days off. We have some logistics to work out before I relocate.”

Michael nodded. When he planned to propose to her, he had prepared himself for the possibility that she would want them to live in Cincinnati. Though he loved New York, he could work anywhere, and would leave in a heartbeat if she wanted to live somewhere else. Michael already knew from their brief separation that he or his home wasn’t the same without her. He was never letting her go.

He set his glass down on the wide ledge surrounding the tub and wrapped his arms around Peyton’s naked body.

“Mrs. Cutter, are you falling asleep on me?”

“I love it when you call me Mrs. Cutter and no I’m not asleep.” She sat up and turned to face him, her bare breasts taunting him as she straddled his lap. “In fact, I think we should climb out, dry off, and test out that huge bed again.”

“Mmm, I like the way you think.” Michael captured her lips in a passionate kiss that stoked the flames within him. God, he loved this woman. “I have a better idea,” he mumbled against her mouth. “Why don’t we forget the bed and start working on giving Michaela a little brother or a sister right here. Right now.”

“Ohhh,” she purred when he slid inside of her sweet heat. “That’s the best idea yet.”
