"It's my fault," James said, interrupting the solemn silence.

Alec punched him in the left cheek. James didn’t respond. He put his hand on his face and touched it several times until he realized he was sore.

"Never say that again! He didn’t give his life for you to blame yourself. He gave it so that you could be James forever. Without giving up. Always wanting more, going beyond our limits until we defeat Christopher. ”Alec said, his voice filled with emotion, trembling like someone who plays piano for fear of missing each key.

He got up once more and walked over to Lucy. He held her by the legs and head and carried her to the group. Her HP was at 30. She had a low, almost inaudible breath, but she was alive.

"Max, can you?" He asked, laying her down carefully.

"I don’t have much energy, but I'll do what I can," he said and moved closer.

He placed his hands on her forehead and a yellow light flashed over her. Her HP rose to 60, but she remained unconscious. It seemed not to be there, present in the same place as they, as if she had sunk in herself and needed to swim to the exit, despite the chains that pushed her against the rocks.

"Now we can only wait," he said, his cheeks red as well as his eyelids from crying.

They stayed there. Lying on the ground, uneducated about the adventures that awaited them, not knowing how to process what had happened. No one close to them had ever died, much less so close to them, so seconds away from them. The bodies, so broken, almost unable to cry for their friend, did what they could to put up with. Here lay their hope. A day so strong and in seconds decimated. They had no desire to save other people, no one else had to succumb so violently as if they were nothing more than a mere body to be killed. The day ended there.

  Chapter XXVIII

10 days had passed since the fateful day. Neil was buried in the green fields where the medical couple lived. The funeral only counted with the group. They thanked everyone for their concern and willingness to participate, but they asked for privacy. Hours passed around the camp, recalling moments together and funny stories. The waves of laughter wiped away the sadness. The tears were of joy and the pains of both laughing. Molly made flowers of all colors born around the place - red and white roses, sunflowers as yellow as the sun, and lilac, black, and even blue flowers. Some of which they had never seen before, and others that Alec only had heard of in his mother's stories in the making of her perfumes. They spent the day there. No one wanted to leave, say goodbye and go on new adventures knowing he would not be there for a friendly word or a motivational phrase. In the moonlight, they embraced each other and snuggled up by heating themselves over an improvised bonfire and a starry sky. Death dazzled in the moonlight and delighted in it.

"Lyuna awaits us," James said, his eyes on the moon.

"Lucy, are you ready?" Alec asked. He was still standing behind her, but he knew it was not the right time for this conversation.

"I want to know the truth. What my grandfather did, why is he like that, what I am. I need it. Neil may not be here any longer, but I know he'll support me the same.” She said, bursting into tears as soon as the boy's name came out of her mouth," I'm sorry to have hidden everything. I should not have done it! "

"It is past. But ... if we are to continue together, honesty and trust is our greatest asset. No secrets, understood? "Alec said to him, speaking calmly, not wanting to make matters worse.

Everyone agrees. James asked Max if he and Ghost would join them in the adventure.

"I suppose so?" Max threw the question into the air, and before he answered he looked at Ghost.

"If you will. I'm going wherever you go. You saved my life, now I will save yours.” Ghost answered him. The emotion showed in the words contrasted with her face, as always pale and without a smile or a frown.

"Let's go then. I have always heard that the library of Lyuna was one of the greatest and best of all kingdoms and cities. Maybe I could just stand there and do some research on what they told me about the chips and even if there are reports of the darkness taking over someone else, "Max said, his eyes glittering with the idea of getting lost in books.

"Yes, we have a great collection. I will also ask my parents to allow you access to the forbidden part of the general public.” Lucy said, wiping the tears on the sleeve of the coat that had been wrapped around her, which Eva had offered.

All of their clothes had been offered by the kingdom of Relics. A party had also been given in their honor for the help and services rendered, as well as to thank Lucy for having finalized the battle. She had rejected it several times but eventually agreed when Alice told her it was a deed of value and should be celebrated. However, inside, she blamed herself for everything that had happened. She knew they had only attacked the town because they were there and, after all, Christopher was her grandfather and was willing to kill everyone except for her. She couldn’t shake the voice that whispered in her ear, "It's your fault." She ended up yawning and everyone did the same.

They fell asleep shortly thereafter. They had taken sleeping bags, food, and bottles of water as if they were already planning to spend the night there.

Two days passed before they returned to Relics. They had rested, recovered energies and even caught some sun. Neil's memory was still fresh in his memories, but they were learning to live with his presence only in memories.

When they arrived, the sun was not yet born, Eva was waiting for them along with Grant, Alice, and Molly and had a brown bag at her feet. The others had three backpacks on their backs and useful clothing for long and cold distances – sweatshirts, hot pants and coats hanging on their shoulders. Behind them, dozens of men were already putting their hands to work and working together to raise the city once more.

"Good morning young people. The three of them will go with you. We cannot risk having you getting caught on the way to Lyuna. The odes are as high as ever and as soon as it is known, and it is if the news has not already reached Christopher, he will come after you, Lucy. Now that you know your power, he will not leave you alone.” Eva told them without even catching her breath. She wore dark glasses, but the dark circles were so dark that it was impossible to hide them. She had not slept in two days. She was still crying for her eldest companion, Lomi, and in the rest of her spare time organized the reconstruction of the city, “Also, I had a few guards search for weapons and items on Chris’ soldiers and we got a decently sized loot. Feel free to grab something”

James bit his lip and was about to reject Grant's coming when Alec stopped him.

"She's right. All the help is needed, and it will be useful in case we are ambushed.” Alec told him softly so that the rest would not hear," If he touches her in front of us will suffer the consequences. Don’t think that just by accepting his presence, I will accept everything coming from him as they do here.”

  "We're understood then," James replied.

There was no morning excitement or provocation like the day they met. They had seen and felt the seriousness of the situation. They grew overnight and couldn’t now turn back. The only road ahead was the future, and it was not certain that the stones in their way would serve to build it if they weren’t able to hold them.

They went to the bag and, one by one, searching for items that suited them. Alec took a red, fire-resistant cloak that offered an extra 40 points to the defense, and set them on his shoulders, and tightened around his neck. Lucian contented himself with a ring that had a white gem in the center, three times more powerful than the one that had been given to him in Drexus. At last, he wielded a sharp two-edged sword and placed it in its brown scabbard.

The remaining members of the group followed. Lucy grabbed by a light wooden wand, as potent in defense as in attack, while James's eyes flashed as he held up gloves where the joints between his fingers bulged and lightened the blood in that area for an attack with a bigger impact. Max found nothing that suited him, and Ghost, somewhat hesitant to be offered something, accepted only a few new black
shoes with two orange arrows on either side.

"We also have food and medicine bottles in our backpacks. We're ready.” Molly told him and walked over to Alec," Whenever you want, "she said, her shoulders narrow as stakes holding a sign.

"Ah, before you go ... take this. You'll need it.” Eve said and handed Alice a map.

A new adventure was about to start. They left their adolescence and childhood dreams on their past. The peace in the world had seen its end in that soil where they stepped and would extend to the whole continent. They knew something new awaited them, but they had no idea of the danger that followed them closely. Darkness was walking beside them, and they were unaware of it, that someone among them was not one of them. Someone had a knife with Lucy’s name nailed on the blade. The walk began silently, as they descended the mountain that they had worked so hard to climb.
