“Stay here and try to remain unnoticed. Marion, Nicholas and Finley will be here shortly and I don’t want them seeing you. Promise me you’ll stay out of sight?”

“We promise,” Oliver and Dallas said at the same time. He moved to stand beside Dallas, took her hand in his and squeezed gently. She could sense the euphoria oozing off him. He’d finally had all his dreams fulfilled.

“I love you, Oliver. If you ever wondered, I never stopped loving you. You are a Ross, never forget that. My mother would have been so proud of you and Anya,” Angelica said, just before she left the three of them alone.

“I love you too, Mom,” he said as she walked away.

They watched as she started chatting with Bryony and Ashley. Her father looked as if he was fighting leaving this time, and when Angelica finally came back with him in tow, it looked as though she was using her magic to move his feet for him.

“You will see Bryony again, Ashley. Honestly, I don’t know what I’m going to do with you. You are such a pain in the ass. Dallas already risked too much to come back to this time and set things right. Not that I’m complaining—I finally got to see my baby boy, but even though I want Oliver to stay here just as much as you want to stay with Bryony, if not more, I know I can’t have what I want.

“Dallas has to take you all back before she affects the timeline. I know she did what had to be done, but she’s accomplished her mission and now it’s time to return to your present, my future. So back to the future with you lot and I’ll see you there.”

“Don’t go to the Badlands,” Oliver sputtered, shocking both Dallas and her father.

“I’ll keep that in mind, Oliver dear. Dallas, do you know what you have to do to return all of you whence you came?” Dallas nodded. “Good, then you get to it, and I’ll cause a distraction so your mother doesn’t notice. I think she’s getting suspicious. Do it now, Dallas. Farewell, my sweet darlings. I’ll be seeing you.” Angelica’s voice carried to them as Dallas activated her powers and took them back to the Redgrave House of their time.

When they rematerialized back in the library, Adrian was waiting for them.

“I’m not cleaning up that bloody mess,” Adrian said in a tipsy voice. “I’m going upstairs. I feel like I’m going to fall down,” he muttered. “Oh, and Dallas, I would suggest you get this shit cleaned up before Mom gets home. She’ll go absolutely ape-shit bananas. She just got it all sparkly for when Aunt Angie and Uncle Alexander return. Maybe when Anya and Damien come home they’ll help you, but I’m done for the night.”

It had worked. Her mother was alive. Her father let out a triumphant whoop and started running to the library door. He stopped short and turned back to them.

“I didn’t leave you because I didn’t love you, Dallas. I left because I thought that I was the jinx. I thought if I stuck around I would lose you as well. Your brother always emerges from the worst situations unscathed—he’s frigging invincible—but not you and your mother. The two of you are vulnerable. I only wanted you to be out of harm’s way. I hope you believe me.”

She smiled. She felt as if he was being genuine and right now. Happy as she was with Oliver in her life and having her mother back, none of that mattered. She wondered if she’d gain new memories now that her life had been altered. She only hoped none of her memories of Oliver were replaced—she wanted to remember every single second they’d spent together.

Neha transformed back into her humanoid form. “If you will grant me my leave, Master Oliver, I would like to explore this new planet and see if I can find my way in life, the way you found yours. If you ever need me, you need only call and I will be there to help you and your family, for I am forever indebted to you. May the Goddess bless you and Dallas.” With those words, she transformed back into a cat and bound out of the house toward her new life as a free woman.

“I hope I didn’t change anything for the worse,” Dallas whispered to Oliver.

“Your brother looks and sounds the same, and your father looks better. As for the Halifax Magical Authority, it seems I’m going to have clean house there and start fresh. We’re also going to have to check on Anya and mom’s wax doll collection. Some of those poor souls should probably be freed. But never regret taking us back in time. I wouldn’t have traded that trip for anything in the world, Dallas. You’ve given me the greatest gift I could have ever asked for.”

“Well, Anya gave me the greatest gift when she sent you here to me,” she said, her eyes once again welling with tears.

He brought her close to him and kissed the top of her forehead. “My mother was right—you are my angel, Dallas. I will love you for the rest of my life.”

He dropped to one knee in front of her and reached inside his coat pocket.

“Will you be my witch bride, Dallas?”

Her heart soared. “Yes, Oliver. I couldn’t imagine life without you.”

He placed the diamond ring on her left hand ring finger and then stood. “You gave me back my life, Dallas. I was a bit lost before I found you.”

She stood on his feet so she could meet his lips. “I didn’t have a life before you came into it, Oliver. I merely existed in a world where no one wanted anything to do with me. You woke me from my slumber—you are my Prince Charming—and as long as we are together everything in my world will be perfect.”

Oliver kissed Dallas passionately and held her close. “I finally have the love of my life, and you’ve made me the happiest warlock in all of the known worlds by agreeing to be my witch bride. I love you, Dallas. I love you, my Earth Angel.”
