So Hot MC Boxset

“I think so too.” Taking a deep breath, I hoped I could just be her teacher and not fall for the woman.
“Let’s vote then,” Carl said. “I vote yes to taking down the Angry Hogs.”
One by one, we all voted yes to end the small motorcycle gang who’d dared to hurt one of our brothers and threated harm to our brother’s woman. In the end, we all knew that if it came to it, and death was the only way to end them, then we would take that action if we had to.
Killing is never easy, but sometimes it is the only way.
Chapter Eight
Hailey
Sitting in the media room as I edited a manuscript I’d been hired to do, I felt relaxed. I liked the recliners in there the best. And since I’d been having some mind-blowing sex, I just felt more at ease with life in general.
Checking the time, I saw it was a bit after noon and felt a smile take over my face as I thought that Lucas would soon be home and we’d go out for lunch. I had some shopping I wanted to do as well and hoped he’d be up for that.
If having to have a bodyguard was a thing I had to have, then I was glad Lucas was it. Putting my laptop away in my bedroom, I put on a pair of sneakers before heading to the living room to wait for Lucas.
I’d forgotten about Cal being there since I’d hidden away the moment Lucas had driven off. He looked at me as I came into the room. “Did you finish your work?”
“I did.” I wasn’t much for small talk, never had been. “Do you happen to know if Lucas is out of that meeting yet?”
“I don’t know.” He jerked his head toward the chair next to where he sat on the sofa. “Sit down. I’d like to talk to you.”
Damn.
There wasn’t anything else to do, and I didn’t want to be rude, so I took the seat. “What did you want to talk about?” I couldn’t imagine what he thought the two of us had to say to each other.
“Well, first I would like to know what it is that you were doing that had you busy.” He sat up a bit, straightening his back from the slumped position it had been in.
It wasn’t any of his business, but I expected that his kind of people got all up in each other’s business. “I am a freelance editor.”
“Like you edited books or what?” he asked with a curious expression.
“Yes.” I didn’t see any reason to try to go into any depth with the man.
“So, you edited books.” He nodded. “I write a little. Think you could give my stuff a look?”
I had to admit that he’d surprised me. “You write? What types of stories do you write?”
“Biker stories. You know, stories about powerful hogs, gorgeous biker chicks, lots of sex.” He waggled his dark blonde brows at me.
With blonde curls and green eyes, I supposed that most women found him attractive. He wasn’t ugly and he was as fit as all the rest of the men in my husband’s club. But he wasn’t my type. “Sex, huh?” I figured his stories were of the smutty variety. I’d edited many of those manuscripts but didn’t enjoy it much. “Let me guess, the first scene – sex – right?”
“How else should a story begin?” He smiled at me, trying to be sexy.
And now I knew why Ryder had sent me away when he was faced with leaving me when he had to go to prison – men like Cal. Men who knew they could have sex with absent MC brother’s women. “Well, Cal, I tend to like a story that has a bit of meat to it and not all fluff. The sex stuff is just fluff. The real heart of the story is what matters the most. So, if I was to edit one of your stories, you could bet that there would be many revisions and in the end, you might not find my type of work to your liking.”
Running one hand through his mop of curls, he made sure to flex his bicep. “Maybe I could teach you to do it the way I would want you to.”
“Maybe I’ve already gone to college to learn the right way to do my job. And maybe I don’t want to learn how to turn a great story into a pile of smut.” The man was crazy if he thought I would want to learn a thing from him.
Eyeing me, he made a quick assumption, “You’re not into real bikers.”
Shrugging, I didn’t know if I was or not. “You make a good point. I like a more reserved man than most of you are. But I like many aspects of the lifestyle you all lead. Not all of it, mind you, but some aspects of it. And some I’ve just learned about are growing on me as well. I do believe that I will settle into being the wife of a biker well.”
“Having a man around to protect you, is what you’re saying.” His grin said that he’d thought he’d nailed it.
He had not. “No. I mean, it’s nice not to have to live in fear of some group of insane thugs knocking down my door to do whatever it is they have planned to do to me to hurt my husband. The aspect I’m beginning to like is the freedom to live life without the hamper of the rules of normal society. It’s almost like being part of a Native American tribe. You all feel certain freedoms. Most people won’t allow themselves to believe that it’s okay to feed their human needs.”
“Oh.” He looked like the cat who ate the canary. “You mean the sex thing.”
I didn’t want him to think that was all. It was sort of the main thing at the moment, but it certainly wasn’t all of it. “You have to admit that quite a bit of forward-thinking had to have gone into making that rule. I would never have guessed that men like you would even want a rule like that in place. Most of you are so completely alpha. It never occurred to me that you would willingly join a club where other alpha males could mount your mate in your absence.”
“So, Ryder never clued you in on that?” He looked up as he took a deep breath. “And he married you before you found that out? Did that make you mad?”
I wasn’t sure if that was the emotion I’d felt when Lucas had told me about that. “Mad? I don’t think I felt angry about it. I just felt confused. And I also felt like Ryder might not have wanted a traditional MC marriage with me. But then he wouldn’t have asked Lucas to take care of me if he didn’t. So, letting Lucas teach me things that Ryder must’ve felt reluctant to, makes sense to me.”
Cocking an arrogant brow at me, he let me know more, “You know, Lucas isn’t the only one of Ryder’s MC brothers that you can have sex with while he’s locked up. It’s up to you how many you want. Did Lucas tell you that?”
I wasn’t sure if he had let me in on that or not. That conversation had set off so many strands of thought in my head that I’d lost count. But I wasn’t some whore who needed to feel every one of my husband’s MC brothers inside of me. “I’m a loyal person, Cal.”
“Yeah, I’m sure you are. But it doesn’t matter how loyal you are. Your husband has been away for a couple of years. And from what I understand, you only came back to Baltimore about a month ago. I’ve been in prison and those little sex visits don’t really cut it, do they? Too many listeners to actually let loose. So, if you’re in need, I can help you out, baby.”
“Lucas is taking care of my needs, thank you very much.” I felt a little aggravated by the man.
“Yeah,” he said with a nod. “But Lucas doesn’t like to be with the same women more than a handful of times. At least that’s been the case since I joined the club. He’s a loner is what I’m trying to tell you. So, he might just stop giving you what you need, if you know what I’m saying. And I just want you to know that I could do that for you if you want me to. Plus, there’s no harm in trying out some other men. It actually makes you appreciate your man, even more, when he does come home. And you’ll learn some new moves to show him as well. I’ve studied the Kamasutra extensively.”
“For your writing of course.” I made light of his remarks. I wasn’t going to seek sex from him or any other man. It was one thing, allowing myself to enjoy what Lucas and I had. Going from one man to another wasn’t a thing I could do.
He just laughed. “Well, not entirely. I like to put what I’ve learned into use so I can really explain what it feels like when I write a sexy little story. I call my collection, Short Sins to Satiate Your Sex
ual Thirst. What do you think of the title?”
I supposed it was okay. “A bit long.”
His hand moved along the inside of his thigh. “As am I.”
A shudder ran through me. Not a good one either. “Cal, come on, man. Cut it out. I really am not going to ask for your services. I’m not the type of woman you’re used to seeing around your group. I’m not saying I’m better than any of them. I am saying that I’ve just learned about this freedom and may not ever be able to wrap my head around it. I was a Sunday school teacher only a month ago. See what I’m saying here?”
With wide eyes, he groaned as he actually touched his cock that suddenly made a bulge along his inner thigh. “Oh, shit. You don’t know what you just did to me, baby.”
It was so crystal clear to me now why Ryder hadn’t told me to stay in Baltimore to let his MC brothers take care of me. “Come on. Really?”
Shaking his head slowly, he couldn’t stop. “I think you should come with me and we could get a few drinks. Afterward, I could take you to a lingerie store where I would buy you a white little something-something. We could go to my place and play Sunday school all night long. Fuck!”
I could not wait for Lucas to get back home. “I’m sorry, Cal. I don’t think that sounds like fun at all.” He had no idea how far away from Sunday school teacher I got when sex was on the table. And he wouldn’t ever find that out.
I had to be able to trust the man I gave myself to. If a word about what we’d done ever got out, I would most likely die from shame and embarrassment. And only the men I’d been with so far understood that about me and respected me enough to keep their mouths shut.
It was obvious to me that Cal would write a short story about it for the whole world to read if I gave him the chance. But another thing that Cal and I didn’t have was chemistry of any kind.
Not that he would let that stop him. “I can make it fun.”
“How can you make something fun when it’s apparent that you and I have no chemistry?” I had to know how he thought he was so capable of getting me off when it was obvious that I didn’t want him.
“Look, honey, it’s like this.” He ran his hand over the bulging cock that ran alongside his thigh. “I’ve got a cock. And I know how to use it. You don’t have to have any skills of your own. You can literally lay back and let Daddy do all the work.”
Running my hand over my brow, I fought the urge to laugh. It would’ve been rude to laugh but it was damn hard not to. This guy had no real clue about sex. Not the kind that left both parties happy with the results. And I’d already found a suitable partner to temporarily take the place of my husband. “Okay, that’s enough. I know you think this kind of talk will get me all hot and bothered, but it’s not. I’m trying so hard not to laugh right now - you have no idea. I’m not the kind of woman you’re used to. I don’t expect you to understand.”
“But Lucas understands you, huh?” He shook his head. “Lucky bastard.”
“Lucas actually thinks about other people is why he understands me. You think only about sex is what it sounds like to me. And if you think any woman wants to just lay there while you work your magic penis on her, you’re sadly mistaken. Women like to participate.”
Cocking his head, wrinkles filled his forehead. “No, they don’t. Not really. Who wouldn’t like to just relax and let the guy do all the work?”
“A woman who is into a man would like to show him that. Your way sounds boring.” I thought he should know that if he was going to be writing stories he wanted other people to read. “So, before you bring me any of your work that you want me to edit, make sure there is more than just your character doing the sexy stuff. And my fee isn’t cheap either.”
“Wow.” He ran both hands over his face. “You tell it like it is, don’t you?”
“Why should I beat around the bush?” Most of the time, I saw no reason to waste anyone’s time with idle chit-chat. And when it came to writing, I always got right to the point.
The odd look that he had slowly faded to a smile that went all the way up to his eyes. “You know what? I like you, Hailey Winslow. You’re genuine. I think you just might be the most real person I’ve ever met.”
I’d never had a compliment like that. But I would take it. “Thank you, Cal. And I don’t think you’re a total ass. Please don’t think that I do. But I do think that you’ve got to try to put more of your emotions into the relationships you have and not so much of your physical body. I think you’ll be happier and find more depth inside yourself than you even knew you had.”
The sound of Lucas’ bike pulling up had my heart leaping and I jumped up to open the door. “He’s back!”
“You’ve put a lot of emotion into Lucas, I can see that.” He got up to come to the door too. “Since you’ve been so honest with me, allow me to do the same with you. That spark in your eyes over Lucas is obvious. Maybe you’re putting too much of yourself into the man. He’s only a substitute until your man is set free. Try to remember whose woman you really are and don’t let your mind fool you into thinking you’re something to someone that you aren’t.”
He was wrong. Lucas and I knew what we were to each other. I was Ryder’s wife. But Ryder wasn’t there, and Lucas was – and that’s all there was to it.
I know who my heart belongs to and that’s all that matters.
Chapter Nine
Lucas
“Once we gather some good intel – which shouldn’t be much of a problem – then we’ll begin to disband the Angry Hogs.” I wasn’t sure what Hailey would want to do if the threat was alleviated. “Once they’re no longer a threat to you, it’ll be up to you if you want to stay with me or go back to your home.” Part of me hoped she would stay with me. The rational part told me not to hope for something that was sure to end in heartache.
Cal hadn’t left yet and put in his two-cents – not that I nor Hailey cared to hear it, “I think she should go back to her home once we get rid of these pests.”
Hailey rolled her eyes as she crossed her arms over her chest. “That really isn’t any of your concern, Cal.” Her eyes came to mine. “When that time comes, you and I can decide what we want to do.”
With a nod, I liked her answer. It was only our business anyway. And I was ready to take my lady for the next few months out for a nice lunch. “Grab what you want to take with you, and we can head out to eat. I’ve made reservations.”
Jumping up, she looked at the clothes she had on. “I’ll throw on a dress and some heels and be right back.”
As she left the living room, I noticed Cal’s eyes following her. “She’s so not like the other chicks who hang with our gang.”
“Not even a little.” I shoved my hands into my pockets, as a sigh came out of my mouth. “She’s something else entirely.”
Looking at me, Cal frowned. “You and she might want to try to remember that she belongs to another man. A man who you call, brother.”
“I know that.” Cal was young – too young to understand complicated relationships. “You don’t have to worry about us, I’m more than capable of keeping things real here. Plus, I respect Ryder.”
“I know you do.” Looking a little sheepish, which was unusual for Cal, he dipped his head. “I’ll get going so you two can head out. Be careful with her.”
Not sure what that’s about. “Okay. See ya.”
“You wanna take my car?” Hailey called out as she came down the hall.
“If you want to, we can.” She really seemed to love that car she’d bought for herself. “Can I drive your baby?”
“Of course, you can.” She winked at me as she came up to me, kissing my cheek and putting the key-fob into my hand. “Be careful with her though.”
“You can trust me.” Moving in behind her, I placed my hand on the small of her back. She’d pulled her hair up into a high ponytail and put on a white dress with black flats. “You’re looking pretty today. I’ll be the envy of every man there.”
Turning to fa
ce me just as she stopped at the door, she ran her hand over my cheek. “You’re so sweet, leather.”
“Nah.” The way she made me feel was something I would miss when she had to leave. “Just honest.” I took her hand, pulling her along with me to go to the car.
I opened the passenger door for her to get in and she smiled at me as she slipped into the seat. “This is the first time I’ve been a passenger in my own car.”
“I hope you enjoy the ride then.” I closed the door then went around to get behind the steering wheel. Marveling at the control panel, I didn’t know how to start the engine. “Spaceship, I see. Okay, point out things to me before I mess something up.”
“First, you put your foot on the brake,” she coached me.
I held up the key-fob she’d given me. “Um – where’s the key or whatever?”
“There isn’t one.” She took the keys from my hand, putting them into the cup holder between us. “Put your foot on the break then press this button here.”
I did as she said, and it started right up. “Can this car drive itself?”
“Nope. That’ll be my next car, a Tesla.” Pointing to the button with a D on it, she went on, “Keep your foot on the brake and push this button to drive. Get it now?”
“I do.” I liked a woman with goals. “You like seafood, so I’ve made reservations at the Seafood House where we’ll be dining on Maine Lobster.”
“Sounds yummy.” Looking out the window, she smiled as we headed out. “Lucas, have you ever been in love before?”
My guess was that Cal had been filling her ears with things about me. “I have.” The one thing that sucked about having to put an MC brother on guard duty with a woman, was that you couldn’t control his damn mouth.
Facing me, she looked intrigued. “So, what happened with her?”
“Pauline Davenport was her name. We’d met in college. As you know, I was taking psych classes. She wasn’t. She was in poly-sci classes. Her family was old politics and it was expected of her to go that same route.”
