“Three!” Then there was a loud bang against the door which rocked the whole foyer. It caused the picture frames to vibrate and fall off the wall. That crazy fool is actually going to try and break down the door.
Savannah ran over to the door and swung it open, but when she did the hinge on the top of the door had come off and it toppled over to the wall. Savannah was taken aback at the sight of her door hanging off the door jamb. Then she noticed Billy was readying himself for another charge. “Billy! Are you fucking crazy?!”
Billy sauntered over to her where she furiously stood pointing at the broken door. He had a hungry crazed look in his eyes and she had to admit, she was a little scared and turned on all at the same time. He pressed his body against hers and slowly pushed her back into the hallway table using only his chest. Savannah could feel the heat of his skin through their clothes. Their lips so close yet they were barely touching.
His low sensual voice sent chills through her body as his warm breath drifted across her full lips. “I am crazy. Crazy for letting you go. Crazy for thinking I could ever live without you.” He moved his mouth closer to hers.
Savannah put her hand over parted lips and slowly pushed him away from her. “Hold on there soldier. What do you think you’re doing?”
“I was going to kiss you.”
“Really, because I don’t recall you being my boyfriend anymore.” She sidestepped him and sat on the stair case. Angry that he would even think it was okay to just walk back into her life as if nothing had ever happened. “In fact, what I do remember is you leaving me. Not only that, you broke up with me and told me you didn’t love me anymore. I also recall getting back every single letter I ever wrote you. Who the Hell do you think you are coming here after all this time?”
Not only was Savannah furious, but she suddenly felt all the sadness and pain she endured every time she got a return to sender letter back. Tears were stinging her eyes and was unable to stop them as they streamed down her cheeks. “Billy, why did you do that to me? You left me feeling unwanted, abandoned, and rejected by the only man I have ever loved. Do you know the pain you caused me? Do you know what I went through every single day? Then you come here, break my door down, try to kiss me and think everything will go back to the way things were before. I’m sorry, but I can’t go through this anymore. For the last four years I have lived in absolute misery. If it weren’t for Travis I would have gone insane. I didn’t know where you were or how you were doing. It might have been easy for you to shut off your feelings for me, but I’m sorry my heart doesn’t work like that.”
Billy walked across the floor and looked down at Savannah. His eyes glistening with the same tears she had in hers. “Easy? Savannah leaving you was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. Much harder than any training I’ve gone through. Much harder than trekking through deserts all night getting barely any sleep. Much harder than risking my own life to save others.” Billy sat on the step below her facing the door. “Savannah, I thought of you every single day I was gone. Every night I’d look up at the star filled sky and wonder who you were with and what you were doing, hoping you were happy. It killed me inside that someone else might be touching you, making you laugh, and giving you all the things I couldn’t. You know, I asked Travis to watch over you, to make sure you were okay after I left. Keep you company so you wouldn’t feel alone. I wasn’t planning on the two of you falling in love...”
“Billy, I don’t love Travis. Well, that’s not entirely true. I do love him, but no more than a friend. He was never you. It’s always been you. I have never loved anyone but you my whole life.”
“That’s exactly why I broke up with you before I left. I knew that when I left and we were still together there might come a day where I wouldn’t return home at all, and you would have been heartbroken. That was the only reason why I told you I didn’t love you anymore. I needed you to move on with your life and forget about me.”
“Damn it Billy, that wasn’t your decision to make. We were partners., best friends, we told each other everything. How could you make such a life changing decision without me.”
Billy turned to face her. “I wanted you to have a better life, a happy life. You wouldn’t have been happy sitting around here waiting to see if I came home alive or in a coffin. I was trying to protect your heart from being broken.”
“Well, that didn’t work out so well because you broke my heart so much worse by telling me you didn’t love me.” Savannah put her face in her hands and cried. She then rose from the steps and climbed the stairs to her room.
“Where are you going?”
She looked down at him from the top of the stairs and smiled softly through her tear filled eyes. “Just stay there. I’ll be right back.”
She walked into her room and opened the closet door. In the closet was a big shoe box filled with all the letters she had written Billy. She grabbed the box and pulled it from the shelf. She descended to Billy once more and motioned for him to follow her to the living room. They sat together on the couch and she handed him the box that was held together by a large thick rubber- band.
Billy’s eyebrows furrowed. “What’s this?”
“Open it.”
He pulled the rubber-band off the box and opened the lid. Billy’s eyes were wide and awe stricken when he met her gaze. “You kept the letters you wrote me?”
“Well, someone had to. You didn’t want them.”
Billy sighed heavily. “I’m so sorry Savannah. I didn’t...I couldn’t open...”
She put her finger to his lips and he closed his eyes. “Shh, open this.” She removed a letter from the top of the pile and handed it to him.
His eyes opened as she handed him the first letter she wrote him the day he left. She watched him as he read the paper. His eyes scanned every word one sentence at a time. She could remember every word she wrote as if it had been yesterday. She read the letter along with him and wished he hadn’t sent it back. It would have given him the comfort he needed to get by every day. He would have known how much she really loved him and how much he meant to her.
My dearest Billy,
You left only hours ago but it seems like you have been gone forever. I know in my heart you didn’t mean what you said. Love like ours only comes once in a lifetime and that is something not even you can deny. In time, I hope you will realize how much we need each other and when you do I will be here for you. You may have left me physically, but you will always be a part of my soul. There is no one that could ever take your place in my heart. You will always have someone to love you and be here to support you. I will be here waiting for your return, no matter how long it takes. Nothing will ever change my feelings for you. When times get rough, remember all the good times we’ve had over the years and hold them close to your heart. I will be doing the same because you were the only one who has ever made me feel special. Be careful and return to me safely.
Forever Yours,
Savannah
Savannah peered over at Billy and saw a single tear fall from his eye before he quickly wiped it away. She swallowed hard and inhaled a deep breath in order push away all the sadness that had come flooding back to her. When she spoke it was on a whisper. “Billy, it took two years before I realized you would never be coming back to me. You didn’t even care enough to open one of my letters. Not one.”
Billy glanced over at her. His hazel eyes were full of tears making them sparkle like a glass of champagne. There was no way she could ever resist him when he was looking at her like that. Savannah put her hand up to his scared face and then retracted her hand before she reached his skin.
Billy rose from the sofa with a look of disappointment on his face, then turned his back to her. “I know; my face is hideous. I don’t blame you if you never wanted to look at me or touch me ever again.”
Savannah rushed over to him. She grabbed his arm and swung him around to face her. “How can you say that? I don’t think your face is hideous or ugly. I think
you are the most gorgeous man I have ever seen in my life. Not because of what you look like, but because of who you are on the inside. You spent day after day risking your life for complete strangers so they are able to rest peacefully, and have the freedoms that so many take for granted. I don’t think you are hideous at all.”
She gently put her hand on the side of his face and rubbed her thumb along his scarred eyebrow. Tears filled her chocolate brown eyes. “Even though I was angry with you, I knew how important joining the Army was to you. There was nothing I wouldn’t have done to keep you from leaving, but I knew if you had stayed, you would have ended up hating me for it.”
Billy took her wrist in his hands and gently pulled it away from his face. He cupped her chin and tipped it up so they locked gazes. “I could never hate you Savannah. You are my heart and soul. You are what has kept me alive all these years. I kept going with the thought of you in my head.” Billy sighed deeply and put her hands down at her sides. “That was up until this happened to me.” He pointed up at his face and then down at his legs.
“When I was in the hospital I wanted to die. It wasn’t the physical pain of my injuries that had me feeling that way. It was accepting the fact that I was now useless to the Army and I had to return home. Not that coming home would have been bad, but I didn’t want to come home looking like this, and feeling like a fucking failure. Savannah, the pain of not being able to do what you once could is unbearable. I thought about killing myself many times in the past six months. I really felt like giving up. In fact, one day while I was recovering in the hospital I noticed one of the nurses forgot to lock up the medication. I managed to get myself over to the cabinet and grab the first bottle of pills I could. I swallowed half the bottle before I was caught.”
Savannah’s voice was barely a whisper as she spoke through tears. “Oh my God Billy.”
He wiped the tears from her face with his thumbs. “Fortunately, or rather unfortunately for me I’d still been groggy from a round of pain killers from earlier in the day and couldn’t really see straight. Everything was blurry and moving around the room. I only grabbed a bottle of ibuprofen and suffered nothing more than a severe stomachache.”
“Billy you could’ve died. It could’ve been very serious.”
“It was serious! I hurled all over that same nurse who forgot to lock the cabinet. I wasted a perfectly good hamburger on that woman.”
“Billy that is not funny.”
He smiled. “No. It certainly wasn’t for the nurse.”
She reluctantly laughed. “No, I guess it wasn’t.” How could he be so nonchalant about wanting to commit suicide and why was she laughing? That was thing. Billy always had the ability to make her laugh whenever she was upset, no matter what the situation was.
Billy strode over to the window and looked out at the sunset over the lake. The mood in the room quickly turning somber. “Remember that night when we got stuck in the thunderstorm and we had to find shelter under the bridge?”
“Yes, I do. Why?”
“Do you remember what you said to me?”
“Yes. I said I loved you and you were the perfect boyfriend.”
Billy spun around and his voice was laced with anger. “Exactly, you said I was perfect. How could I return home to you looking like this?”
Savannah closed the gap between them and took his hands in hers. “Billy, when I said that I wasn’t talking about how you looked. I was talking about how special you made me feel. You were the only one who I could be myself with. The only one who cared about what I said and really listened to what I wanted.” Billy averted his eyes and she placed her hands on his face forcing him to meet her gaze. “Billy, I don’t care what you look like. I never did. It was your soul that I fell in love with, not your body. And I’m looking at you now and you are every bit of sexy as you have always been.”
Before Savannah had a chance to say anything else Billy lunged forward and pulled her close. He devoured her mouth with own. Licking, teasing, and biting her lips with careless abandon. He was hungry for her and she wanted him just as bad. His kisses were feverous and uncontrollable. His tongue blazed a hot trail along her neck as his hands squeezed her plump ass pulling her closer.
She could feel the moisture pooling between her legs and was aching for his touch. She pulled her shirt over her head and threw it on the floor. His hands softly glided over her satin pink bra. His thumbs circled her hardened peaks through the silky fabric before filling his hands with her breasts. She leaned into his firm grip and dug her nails into his forearms. He squeezed her harder with both hands causing her to moan.
She wanted to feel more of him. She wanted to feel the heat of his skin against hers. She needed to feel special again. The way he had always made her feel. The way he was making her feel right now. It was as if no time had passed at all and nothing had changed between them.
She tugged at the bottom of his light blue t-shirt and pulled it over his head removing the unwanted fabric from his body. She slowly ran her fingers over his well-built chest. He closed his eyes as her nails trailed over his muscled abdomen and she felt him shudder. Billy opened his eyes and his hungry gaze raked over her body. He reached behind her back to unhook her bra, pushing the delicate straps down her shoulders before she allowed the garment to slip to the floor. The palm of his calloused hand rubbed her sensitive nipple and he lowered his head to take it into his mouth.
Savannah let out a low moan and ran her fingers through his hair, urging him on. Billy moved his hands down over her flat stomach and under her skirt. He slid his fingers over her silk panties teasing her sensitive clit before he pulled the thin fabric down around her ankles. He was going to bend down on his knees, but when he did Savannah could see the pain on his face.
She bent down and put her hand on his arm to let him know it was okay if he couldn’t do it. “Billy...”
But, he angrily grabbed her wrists and pushed her backward against the wall. “Savannah, don’t. I need to do this. I need to taste your sweet skin. It’s been too long. Too fucking long.” He let go of her wrists and put her hands around his neck. “Hold on to me.”
His tongue teased her clit and he licked the wet folds of her pussy causing her legs to become weak. Billy took her leg and put it over his shoulder making her feel a little more balanced. But, that didn’t last long because his tongue delved inside of her and she threw her head back in ecstasy. “Yes, Billy.”
Billy pulled his head back and looked up at Savannah giving her a sly grin. “Like that?”
“Yes, I want more. Billy touch me.”
He teased her with his tongue again before delving his finger inside her delicate softness making her buck forward. He started out with soft strokes, and then she put her hand over his pushing his finger deeper. “I want more.”
He removed his finger from her and she felt disappointed. She watched him put his fingers in his mouth and lick the moisture from them before sticking two fingers back inside her. This time he wasn’t as gentle and he forced his fingers inside her. Savannah screamed with pleasure. “Yes Billy more.”
His fingers stroked her wet pussy fast and hard until he could feel her on the edge of release. He replaced his fingers with his mouth and he sucked her clit. “Mmm...you taste so fucking good Savannah. Come for me. Come apart in my mouth. I want to taste more of you.”
The vibration of Billy’s moans against her sent her over the edge. He pushed his fingers inside of her again making her orgasm even stronger. “Billy!” She shuddered against him as a tingling sensation traveled through every nerve ending of her body. Her legs were giving out, but he reached up and held his hand over her stomach to balance her against the wall.
Savannah watched him as he slowly stood. She could see he was struggling a little. “Let me...”
Billy put his hand up. “No, don’t.” When he stood he pressed her against the wall and lifted one of her legs up. He crushed his lips against hers, claiming her mouth as his and gently lifted he
r.
Savannah began to protest knowing the pain he must be in. She didn’t want him to suffer any more than he had to. “Billy, wait you can’t. Your leg.”
Billy put his mouth over hers and kissed her slow and passionately. “Shh, let me do this. I need to do this. I need to be inside of you Savannah. I need to feel alive again. Make me feel like the man I was. Like the man you once knew. Please Savannah.”
She looked in his eyes with love and understanding. He wondered what he had done to deserve such a woman. She didn’t say another word. At that moment he felt a sense of peace and security he hadn’t felt in a long time. It was as though they were one and no words were needed. They each knew how the other felt. He had always felt that connection with her.
He lifted both her feet off the floor and wrapped her legs around his waist. He suddenly possessed the power of ten men. The adrenaline pulsing through his veins gave him the strength he needed to hold them both up. He nuzzled against her face and trailed his tongue along her jaw. She tasted just as sweet as he remembered. Maybe even sweeter. He pulled his head away from hers and marveled at the woman in front of him. It was then he knew, he would never leave her again.
Billy held her up from behind and braced her against the wall. “I want to be inside of you Savannah. I want to feel your warmth surround me. I need you.”
“Take me now Billy, I’m all yours. I will be yours forever.”
Billy didn’t hesitate one more second. He quickly wiggled out of his pants and pressed his hard cock against her tight opening. He entered her slowly, as the walls of her satin flesh began to tightly close around him. He sped up his pace, pushing harder and deeper inside of her. “Savannah, you’re so wet. You’re so fucking wet. You feel so good. So tight, so warm, so damn beautiful.”
