All Ford ever talked about when we first got married was getting me pregnant. When that didn’t happen as fast as we liked we sought out a professional opinion. Turns out there’s nothing wrong with either of us, it just hadn’t happened yet. We tried fertility treatments, but when that didn’t work after six months, I told Ford I needed a break. The stress of not conceiving was putting me in a bad place emotionally, and I wasn’t able to be the wife and sister I wanted to be. Since then we’ve been taking it easy and have even discussed adoption.
After over three years of marriage enough is enough. I’m ready to give him the family we’ve both been wanting. It seems like that’s what mother nature wants for us as well because she’s gone and blessed us. Now I just need to tell Ford the good news. Speaking of which, I think I hear him now getting home from the gym.
“Hello, my beautiful wife, how is your day going? Are you feeling any better?” Ford says before crouching down in front of me, where I’m lying on the couch and gives me a quick kiss.
“Oh yeah, I’ve been feeling fine for hours.”
“I’m just going to go get a shower, then we can go out to that new restaurant you wanted to try for dinner.”
“Mmmkay,” I say nonchalantly, not wanting to give away the surprise.
A few minutes later I hear Ford in our bathroom. “Holy shit!” He shouts. I laugh picturing his reaction. He had to have found the three pregnancy tests that I took, because one just isn’t enough, and left out on the counter for him to see. Ford comes rushing out to the living room naked as the day he was born. Falling to his knees in front of me, he grabs my hands and kisses the backs of them. “Tell me it’s true, beautiful. Tell me you’re making me a daddy.”
Happy tears fill my eyes, and I nod my head up and down as the tears spill down my cheeks. “You’re going to be a daddy Ford.”
Ford takes my mouth in a deep kiss, showing me just how happy he is. Eventually, he pulls back and rests his forehead against mine. “I love you so much beautiful, so fucking much.”
“I love you too, Ford.”
