"How?"
"He's a sneaky fucker."
"You organised this with Kit?"
Nodding, she folded her arms and grinned at me.
"I can't believe he's done this."
"He told me to do whatever it takes to make sure you feel perfect."
I just stared at her.
"I know, I know."
I took the opportunity to walk up to the dress hanging from Lilly's wardrobe. Part of me felt like I needed to mention the fact that I wanted to do this by myself, to be independent. Then I ran my fingers over the fabric and smiled, as my body warmed just thinking about what he had done.
"Has he seen the dress?" I asked Lilly.
"No, he just sent me the money. Then sent Bob to pick me up and he took me to the boutique so I could pick it up."
I shook my head in disbelief.
"You wanna try it on?"
Turning around, I nodded my head and beamed from ear to ear.
Pulling the last strap over my shoulder, Lilly looked at me in the mirror as I ran my fingers over the dress.
"He really loves you, Eves."
I nodded, remembering what he'd asked me earlier. I stared at Lilly in the mirror, knowing I'd need to talk to her about it.
"He asked me to move in with him."
Her eyes got bigger, "Wow, Eves."
I knew how much of a big deal this was. It frightened the hell out of me, not because Kit had asked but because I was ready to jump.
"You deserve to be happy, Eves."
Turning around, I wrapped my arms around Lilly and she hugged me tightly.
"I love you, Lil'," I said, feeling all emotional.
"I love you too, you big bag of hormones."
We both laughed and once we pulled away from each other, I wiped a tear out of the corner of my eye.
"Damn hormones are gonna kill me."
It made Lilly chuckle and she hugged me again as I wiped my eyes. She then started running me through her plans to do my hair and makeup.
When I got back to Kit's house, the place was empty. Recently they'd had a new security system installed that required not only a key card to get in but a thumbprint as well. Kit had set up my account so I could get in and had given me my keycard. Placing the keycard back into my bag, I placed my thumb to the scanner and heard the system beep. I opened the front door and placed my shoes neatly into the shoe rack. Then I walked into the kitchen and turned the lights on. I glanced around the room and took a deep breath, feeling so at home here. I wondered where all of Kit's brothers were, but most of all I wondered where Kit was. I assumed he was still at Delta and I tried to push aside any nagging feelings of him being with Maddie. With a drink in hand, I jogged up the stairs and got undressed. It wasn't until then that I felt overly alone, despite feeling so safe here I didn't wanna be alone. I decided to keep myself occupied by watching a film and I raked through Kit's things to find the most comfortable looking piece of clothing. I stripped myself down before pulling it over my head.
I hummed, feeling a sense of security in his clothing, and then I climbed into bed after setting up the DVD player. Wrapped in the duvet, I tried to focus on the film but my mind wandered to the ball in a week so I decided to text Kit. I wrote a few different lines and deleted all of them, wondering what the hell I would write apart from: come home, I'm alone.
It was pretty selfish of me so instead I sent him a message letting him know I was home. Soon after I heard noises coming from downstairs and I figured Kit's brothers had come home. I didn't hear any of them speaking so I thought about going to meet them. Then an uneasy feeling set over my mind and I started to imagine things.
What if it wasn't any of Kit's brothers?
Just before I was about to get up, the door opened and Kit walked in, taking me in as he did. A smile came quickly as he stared at me.
"You're equally the most cute and sexy thing I've ever seen, Blondie."
I pulled the duvet back and crawled across the bed to greet him. His eyebrows raised as he looked at me up and down and to me knelt in his t-shirt.
I got off of the bed, still under his stare as I rushed across the room and wrapped my arms around him. It caught him off guard but soon after he wrapped his arms around me.
"Thank you," I said against his chest.
He cared so much about me being happy that he'd messaged my best friend to buy me the dress I loved. I moved my head to look up at him and he brushed my cheek with his finger before kissing me.
"I'm guessing she showed you the dress?" he grinned and I nodded.
I closed my eyes as I snuggled back into his chest.
"Come to bed?" I asked.
"Like you even had to ask," he replied, allowing me to lead the way as he stared at my behind in his jumper.
It didn't stay on me for much longer though. Shortly after Kit stripped me naked and made love to me, cherishing my body with his touch and showering me with his love by kissing my entire body. Despite everything happening in our life. Despite all of the worry and crap, I could have stayed in that moment with him for the rest of my life.
“Okay, so your blood pressure seems to be a lot better," Leanne said, smiling at me.
Lilly sat beside me and beamed at me.
"So, obviously we'll need to check again but at the moment, that's great news. How have you been feeling?"
Apart from feeling terrified about the ball tonight, I felt grand.
"A lot better," I said and she nodded.
After leaving the hospital, I texted Kit quickly to let him know that the appointment had gone well. We decided it would be best if he didn't go with me. It was just a check-up and despite him wanting to come, we could have potentially been spotted together. We'd already taken that chance the last time he'd come with his brothers to meet us. Instead, Lilly came with me and Bob and Phil kept close enough to not be labelled as stalkers. Once we left the hospital they drove us to Lilly's house and I smiled at my phone, reading the text I'd received from Kit.
I'll see you at the ball, Blondie. I'll be looking ridiculous in a bow tie…
I imagined him in a bow tie for a second, knowing how sexy he'd look.

I needed a shower before preparation commenced and Lilly waited on her bed looking lost.
"You okay?" I asked her.
Nodding, she brought her head up to look at me.
"You missing your parents?"
Scoffing, Lilly shrugged it off. "I'm used to them never being here."
True, but that didn't mean anything. I knew Lilly wished she wasn't alone so much.
"Go get a shower, you're gonna be late."
I felt as if there was always something Lilly wasn't telling me and I couldn't help but think it all came back to a certain Carson brother. I stared at her a little longer then left like she wanted me to. We needed to have a serious chat but I wasn't sure if she was ever gonna let me. It hurt knowing she wouldn't talk to me. I guessed I deserved it for keeping so much from her about me and Kit. I only did that because I felt like I had no choice, though.
I ran my hands over my stomach as water trickled over my little bump. I smiled and closed my eyes, praying everything would go okay tonight. Delta was supposed to be my safety, my protectors. Saying that, because they had so much involvement in the pain and terror that had happened in my life, I couldn't feel safe and calm knowingly heading into the quarters the masked men resided. The place my Dad had created. I wished he could be here to talk about this with because he would know what to say. He always knew what to say.
After my shower, I ruffled my hair within my towel and walked up to my dress hanging on Lilly's wardrobe.
"Let's start with your hair," she said as I ran my fingers down the fabric.
I still couldn't believe she and Kit had devised a plan to get this dress without me even knowing. I walked over to Lilly's dressing table and sat on the chair, still wrapped in a towel. Then I watched Lilly as she undid the wrap around my hair.
> "You trust me, don't you?" I asked, randomly and she frowned at me in the mirror.
"Why would you ask that? You know I do."
I nodded and allowed her to start on my hair.
"So why won't you tell me what's bothering you?" I asked, staring at her face in the mirror.
"Nothing is bothering me!" she said a little more flustered.
"I know you. I know something is bothering you."
When she didn't answer my frown deepened.
"Is it Nick?" I asked her straight out.
"What, no!" she answered way too quickly.
"Because I know you bother him too," I answered, glancing down at my nails.
"What does that mean?"
"It means, I know you both have unfinished business and if you both don't sort your shit out I'm gonna act all mamma bear and sort it for you."
"I'd rather you didn't," she began teasing my hair. "There is and never will be anything going on with me and Nick, okay? Please just drop it."
I nodded after a short while, because I could see the resentment filling her expression. For whatever reason, she hated Nick. And I meant really hated Nick. Nothing like the hatred I felt towards Kit when we had first met. I smiled thinking of the memories of our first few days together. I really didn't like him. He still wound me up like something chronic sometimes even now, but that hatred had been replaced with pure fear that at any minute I could lose him. Anger built in my chest, thinking about the evil in the world that just wouldn't leave us alone.
"Eves?" Lilly turned me around to face her as a tear ran down my face. "What is it, babe?"
I shook my head, knowing I was being silly but she wasn't going to settle for that.
"Everything in my life is just so fucked up, I just wish everything was different," I said turning to face the dresser again.
She nodded, knowing exactly what I'd meant, and she then pulled me into a hug from behind.
"Everything is gonna be okay, Eves. You've gotta believe that it will all work out. Our baby will be safe, no matter what."
I scoffed and looked at her in the mirror. "Our baby?"
"Yes. Our baby, I love them already as if they were my own and I will die before I let anything bad happen to them."
"You're making me cry," I said smiling and wiping my face.
It made her smile too.
"Well enough of that. I'll need to hang your head out of the window to dry before I start your makeup, otherwise."
I chuckled and dabbed at my face as Lilly started blow drying my hair and taming my curls.
"Thank god I don't need to curl your hair. We'd be here all bloody night, it's that thick."
She placed the hairdryer down and I smirked as she began picking up pieces to create a half up- half down hairstyle. With the half she'd picked up she began pinning pieces in mini circles at the back of my head so that strands were still able to drape down. I was glad when I saw it finished, it looked really elegant but not so strict.
"Make-up now," Lilly smiled at me in the mirror.
As always, Lilly knew that I didn't like to wear a lot of makeup but once she'd finished making my eyes look smokey she reached for a tube of lipstick and showed me it.
"This will go perfect with your dress."
Smiling, I puckered my lips for her to apply the lipstick but instead, she laughed and squeezed my lips between her fingers to loosen them. Then she placed her fingers under my chin and applied the lipstick to my lips.
"Okay, two secs," she said before lifting a piece of toilet paper to my lips for me to press my lips onto.
"You ready for your dress?" she asked as I smiled at myself in the mirror.
I nodded and stood up to meet her at my dress hanging on the wardrobe.
"You're gonna look so sick tonight!" she beamed and I clapped like a girly-girl as she brought down the dress and began helping me.
Once in my dress, I moved over to Lilly's long length mirror and took a deep breath. I couldn't quite believe how good I looked, even if I did say so myself. Turning around, I stared at my behind and loved the way the corset ties laced over my back, showing the exposed skin beneath. The front of the dress laid perfectly and as I shifted my leg forward it showed through the slit at the front of the dress. I'd opted for flat shoes despite Lilly begging for me to wear heels. Thankfully, they wouldn't be seen under the fabric anyway. I couldn't walk in heeled shoes to save my life…
"You ready?" she asked and I smiled at her then nodded.
A few minutes later, the doorbell rang and I followed after Lilly as she rushed downstairs to open the door. Although this dress was so comfortable, it took me a few moments to adjust to walking in it. I was a skinnies and hoodie type of girl—wearing a ball gown made me feel so elegant and odd. When Lilly opened the front door I was expecting to see Phil or Bob waiting there for me. When I saw a god dressed in a tuxedo I gulped and realised that this god was indeed my boyfriend. He stood there a second, staring at me—taking my full body in—before looking back up at my face and smiling. He looked in awe and it made me blush. He loved it, and I already knew how much he loved to make me blush. He took steps towards me and Lilly stood aside so he could approach and place his hand around my waist. Kissing my cheek, he then hovered his lips over mine.
“You look fucking amazing,” he breathed before gently kissing me.
I bit my lip and held onto his shoulder as I inhaled his masculine scent and I admired his bow tie within my fingers… When he lifted his hand to unlatch my lip, Lilly cleared her throat.
“Who needs porn when I can watch you two, aye?” she grinned and it made me even more embarrassed.
"The anticipation. Phew." She pretended to wipe her forehead and it made me chuckle.
“You ready to go?” Kit asked me and I nodded, but first, I had to ask him something.
“I thought you weren't supposed to be picking me up?”
It had been a very strict rule that Kit and I couldn’t be seen together outside of his house, we couldn’t risk being seen together because it could ruin his and Maddie’s mission completely.
“Yeah, well, my rule. I can break it.”
Frowning, I nodded and he sighed.
“I wanna take my girlfriend to the ball, okay? You’re my date, not Phil's or Bob's.”
“You broke your own rule because you wanted to be possessive?” I smiled, eyeing him.
He thought about what I’d said and then searched my face, trying to come up with a good reply.
“Do you have to break everything down?” he asked and Lilly replied for me instantly with “Yes.”
I grinned and looked away from them both as Kit took my hand and brought it to his lips before kissing my knuckles.
“Oh god, you both need to leave!” Lilly wafted her arms, “Before you ruin that dress and get jiggy right here in my hallway!”
I closed my eyes in the same embarrassment I’d just felt and I allowed Kit to take me with him outside.
“Holy shit,” I breathed once I got there.
"You hired a limo.”
Nodding, he led me towards it and opened the door.
"Bob is driving, and Phil is in the front with him.”
“I’m surprised you’re allowing someone else to drive us.”
“Me too, don’t get me thinking about it for too long or you may end up in the front passenger seat beside me while I drive.”
I shook my head and got in, lifting the fabric on my dress to do so. Once we were inside the limo, Kit reached across me to find my seatbelt and my breath hitched in my throat as he got so close.
“Just strapping you in, Blondie," he winked before pecking my lips.
I repositioned myself and waited for him to sit back. I really couldn’t get over how good he looked in his tuxedo. It wasn’t the first time I’d seen him dressed so smart, but this time I knew what was beneath and I wanted it so badly, seeing him dressed like that. I had to look away and mentally smack myself, I was a mixed mess of hormones along
with need and I could feel the heat rising over my face. It didn’t help that Kit had found the slit in my dress and had his hand slid over my bare leg.
“I love this dress,” he spoke against my knuckles before kissing them and holding my hand in his. “Money well spent,” he added.
"Thank you," I smiled.
"You're welcome," he eyed me, teasing me further.
“Have you ever done this before? Like at prom or something?” I asked, trying to avert my mind.
He shook his head, “I didn’t really have a lot of time for school.”
I nodded slowly, knowing exactly what he’d probably been doing instead.
“You?”
“Yeah,” I remembered my Dad dropping me off.
“I didn’t go in a limo though, and I never had a date.”
“I find that seriously hard to believe.”
Smiling, I fiddled with fabric in my lap. “Proms are different here to how they are in America, I dunno about Australia but over here you only go to prom with a guy if you’re seeing him or if he’s your best friend.”
“You Brits are weird,” he commented and it made my eyebrows rise.
“You Aussies are weird,” I threw back at him. It was the most immature thing I could have said.
“You’re not saying that when—”
“Don’t finish that sentence, Escort.”
“Huh, back to calling me that again are you, Blondie? I actually am your escort tonight and if you’re not careful I’ll escort your arse straight to a private room—make this a night to never forget.”
I gulped as he stared at me in the eyes and ran his fingers over my thigh. I had to stop his hand from going any further.
“Stop,” I said looking at his hand.
“Why? Your legs are sexy as fuck,” he purred.
“They’re huge and not sexy at all, and you touching them like that is making me all kinds of bothered so could you kindly back the fuck off?”
He smirked. “The mouth on you.”
I rolled my eyes, waiting for him to carry on but he shocked me by saying, “I think thick thighs make great earmuffs. You want me to show you?” he tried sneaking his hand further inside my thigh but the car stopped and I stared him in the eyes.
