Morgan tensed her body, flexing her arm under his hold. A shaky breath left her as a few tears ran down her cheeks. Finally, she turned to face him. Mr. Slade released her arm. His stare looked bothered, but there was a spark of remorse in them.

"You want me to believe that you don't like your ex throwing herself at your feet?"

"Morgan, I'm not stupid. Yes, Shay may have tried to rekindle something, but I told her no. I don't want that anymore." He placed his hand on her hip. "I already have what I want."

Morgan was desperate to believe him. Of course Shay wanted him back. Who wouldn't? "I want her out of your office."

An odd gleam flashed in his eyes. "Done."

"And if she keeps up the flirting, she's gone."

  Mr. Slade only nodded.

  ****

The rest of the day had gone smoothly. Shay stayed secluded in the conference room and even clocked out early, which Morgan appreciated. The only thing that bothered Morgan was that she most likely wouldn't see Mr. Slade again until the next morning in the office. She took a deep breath. I have to trust him or else why would I stay here with him?

He was going to do what he was going to do. She just hoped there was no repeat of her last relationship. That's all she needed was to watch Shay and Mr. Slade grope each other. Morgan knew her heart would be unable to ever be repaired after that.

What does Connor do with his nights?

Morgan hoped the answer wouldn't kill her.

  Chapter Eighteen

"Marcie, where's Shay?" Morgan asked, trying to sound casual. It was Wednesday morning, and she was feeling refreshed but still uneasy about the temp.

The receptionist looked up from her computer. "Oh, she had a dentist appointment and won't be in until after ten or so."

Morgan's whole body relaxed as she took a deep breath. Good. I won't have to watch her for a little while. She started to walk away from Marcie's desk but was soon stopped by the other woman's voice.

"While you're here, Mr. Slade told me to have you run an errand." Marcie stood up with a note in her hand.

Morgan furrowed her brows. She hadn't seen her boss yet this morning. He had an early meeting at someone else's building. If he wanted me to do something, why didn't he just email or message me? Morgan had never been given an errand through Marcie before.

Worry filled her. Was it too convenient that Shay and Connor were both out of the office this morning? Morgan started to feel sick to her stomach, but she tried to calm herself as she took the note from Marcie. It looked like it was in her handwriting. Had Mr. Slade called her with instructions? Why hadn't he called Morgan?

The note was simple. "Pick up dry cleaning." There was an address at the bottom, presumably the store's. Was this fucking real?

"Dry cleaning?" She held the note out to Marcie as if she didn't already know what it said.

Marcie shrugged. "I don't know. Sometimes he runs out of time."

Morgan stood there for several seconds, thinking. Was this all too convenient? Finally, she shrugged herself while dropping the note back onto Marcie's desk. "All right. I guess I'll be back soon."

  ****

"Stupid fucks," Connor swore to himself in his car.

The meeting that had been scheduled for this morning had all of a sudden been cancelled. Apparently, there had been a mix up with the other party's availability. Connor thumped his hand on his steering wheel. One thing he hated above almost anything else was wasted time. He had driven all the way across town for nothing.

"Idiots." He growled in frustration as he started his Lexus. "Maybe, I'll just have to rid myself of some of my stress with Ms. White when I get to the office."

He exhaled roughly as an image of her naked ass being paddled came into his mind. Just this had his hands relaxing on the wheel. He growled again, but this time, he was thinking about pounding his cock deep inside her. During times like this, Connor definitely appreciated having a more permanent girl around the office. It was starting to be about much more than just the sex, though. An image of her smiling face floated through his head, soothing him more.

Darkness filled his thoughts as he started to drive toward Slade, Inc. Was his appetite for Morgan making her happy? Before, as long as his temp showed up after agreeing, he worried very little about her emotional state. As long as the woman wanted to be his sexual release, he was good. Morgan was different, though. This fact made him pleased, but at the same time, annoyed. It was like she held some power over him and that made him uncomfortable.

Connor sped down the highway, way too fast to be considered safe. "Morgan, I'm not going to continue to feel guilty for being selfish." He spoke the words out loud but knew they weren't true.

  Chapter Nineteen

Connor stepped off the elevator and started a swift pace toward Ms. White's office. He wasn't going to wait for any conversation or question her wants right now. First, he was going to take what he needed through a kiss. Then, he was going to drag her into his office, paddle her ass until the whole office heard her, and then make her come repeatedly while filling her with his own cum.

His dick was so hard, it was uncomfortable to walk so briskly, but he didn't slow until he reached her office door. Connor flung it open and was instantly let down. It was empty. He swiftly stepped into his own office. After several minutes of searching, he still found no Morgan. He growled when he entered his bathroom.

  "Where the hell is she?"

Connor made a beeline for Marcie's desk. When he stopped next to it, she looked up immediately. She had a small but still noticeable smirk on her face. He didn't care why, at the moment.

"Where's Ms. White?" His hand came down on the desk a little harder than he intended, making a loud thumping noise.

Marcie's smirk didn't fade. "I'm not sure. She came out of her office mumbling about an ex and then told me she'd be back in a few minutes."

"What? How long ago was that?"

Marcie looked at her watch. "Umm, probably an hour ago."

Connor clenched his teeth together so hard his jaw started to cramp. Had Marcie said ex? Was Morgan talking about Shay again? "What do you mean, ex?"

Marcie stood from her chair. She looked just mildly more concerned now. "Yes, I think it had something to do with her ex-fiancé."

What the fuck? "What are you talking about?"

"I'm sorry. I don't know more than that."

Connor flexed his tense fingers on her desk, almost clawing at it. He then spun around. He marched right back to Morgan's office. When he entered, he took the time to look around for any sign as to what she was doing. He saw nothing until he noticed that her computer was on and awake.

He didn't have to look long to find what he was searching for. There was a PM popped up in the corner of the screen. Connor was getting angrier and angrier the longer this took. He almost felt as if he was moments away from putting his fist through the nearby wall just to release some stress. What he read only made that moment closer.

The private message box was labeled "Todd" and read "Morgan, I need to see you. Meet me at our special spot."

Connor's breath rushed from him and his nostrils flared. "She left my business to go meet another fucking man?"

Connor closed his eyes, taking deep breaths. Anger would get him nowhere fast. He clenched and unclenched his fists. This is what fucking happens when you care about someone. This is what fucking happens when you let a woman have power over you!

Was Morgan doing this because she was still mad about Shay being around? Would she have gone back to her ex no matter what?

Connor stood from the desk and started pacing. What the hell should he do now? Was he going to just cower in the corner while his girl was off fucking someone else or was he going to fight for her? Should I even care? A small part of his heart was hardening against her.

He reached into his pocket for his phone. Connor was unsure what he was going to say to her, but he wanted to hear her voice. He wanted to hear if she sounded guilty.<
br />
  "Fuck!" No phone.

He had been in such a lustful rush to get inside, Connor had left his phone in his car. He turned, and as he walked out of her office, he slammed the door. Several of his male employees stuck their heads out of their offices as Connor walked down the hall. Obviously, they had heard the commotion. Connor balled his hands into fists, praying no of them spoke to him.

Fortunately, no one did as he exited the hall and the floor. He was soon storming out of the building toward his Lexus. Morgan had never even mentioned an ex-fiancé, had she? Was that on purpose? Just as Connor reached for his car door, someone had him pausing.

A feminine hand reached up beside him, leaning on the car door. Connor closed his eyes for a moment, just trying to slow his breathing. Finally, he opened them and slowly turned toward her, letting go of the car handle.

"Mr. Slade … Connor. You don't need this extra stress." Shay's voice wrapped around his head.

"I don't think you know what I need right now." Connor was trying to keep his tone as even as he could.

"Yes, I do. Have you forgotten my time with you?" Shay ran her hand down his back. Again, his cock betrayed him and started to stiffen. It did so, much faster than he would have liked. "Marcie told me all about Ms. White's behavior. You know, I would never do that to you, Mr. Slade." She moved both hands up to his shoulder, gradually turning his body to face hers. Connor didn't know why he let her.

  Yes, he did.

"You can use me anyway you please. I'll be here for you, Sir. I just want to be your toy again."

His dick was now hard enough to tent his pants. A bit of self-hatred rose into his chest, but it was followed closely by the dark desire to bend someone over his car hood and fuck until neither of them could walk. Connor just didn't want that person to be Shay.

His current temporary secretary reached up and cupped his face with her hands. I should push her away. Her eyes stopped him. Shay was staring at him like he was a god. Her crisp, blue eyes sparkled in the sunlight. She was gorgeous. There was no getting around that fact. And what guy wouldn't kill to have a woman saying she would do whatever he wanted her to do.

"Mr. Slade … Connor." Shay let her words hang in the air as she leaned into him.

Connor lifted a hand to her small waist as she kissed his lips. The kiss was familiar and soon hard and heavy. She pressed her body into his. Connor felt her breasts heaving against him, and the desire to suck on them was growing.

Shay ran one hand through his hair, and Connor almost lost himself in her. What the hell am I doing?

  Chapter Twenty

Morgan looked back to the backseat of her car as she waited on the stoplight to turn green. There lay two business suits, fresh from the drycleaners. The worker had given her some trouble about picking them up. Morgan didn't have a number or drop off slip. She thought that was odd that Mr. Slade would forget to give her something to pick up his clothes. Maybe he was just too busy.

Fortunately, after a long conversation, the worker had allowed her to take his things. Morgan hoped that this didn't become a regular part of her daily job. She turned back to face forward and started to stare off into space. A small smile played on her lips as an image of Mr. Slade slipped into her mind. He was gorgeous, and he was hers.

A loud honk from behind the car had Morgan jumping in her seat and Mr. Slade fading from her thoughts. Her eyes flicked up to see that the light was green. She headed toward Slade, Inc. as another mental picture of her boss ran through her head.

Soon Morgan was pulling into the parking lot. Before she got far, though, an unnerving scene had her slowing her car to a crawl. There, next to his car, stood Mr. Slade and Shay. Morgan stopped her car out far enough to not draw attention to herself.

"I thought they were both gone for the morning?" Was that why I was sent on an errand?

Morgan watched in horror as Shay touched Mr. Slade and then turned him toward her. Connor, stop her. Step back from her! Her heart seemed to slow to a standstill as she watched Shay cup her boss's face. A few seconds later and Morgan's heart seemed to start up and almost beat out of her chest because they were kissing. Mr. Slade reached up, grabbing the other woman's waist.

"Motherfucker." Morgan's hands started to shake against her steering wheel.

The kiss seemed passionate and even desired on both their parts. An ugly sob rose up Morgan's throat as the pair continued kissing and touching each other. The disgusting memory of Todd doing the same thing floated through her head for a few seconds. She couldn't take it any longer. She couldn't watch anymore. Morgan turned her wheels and let her car creep from the parking lot, back toward the road.

  It's done.

Shay ran her hand down his chest. She was soon slipping it into his waistband and down into his slacks. Just as her fingers grazed the top of his pubic hair, a sudden surge of morality entered him. Connor pulled back from the kiss and quickly grabbed her hand. Her beautiful eyes popped open as her other hand still held the back of his head.

  "No, Shay."

"Sir, you're hard. I can feel it in your pants. You want me."

"I said no. Even if that were true, which I'm not saying it is, I need to find Morgan and talk to her. I can't just write her off." I love her. Those words swirled around and around in his head.

"Mr. Slade, please. Let me take care of you." Shay pulled hard on her hand, trying to push it deeper into his slacks.

Connor gripped her wrist harder and pulled it free from his pants. "Shay, go home."

He tried to step back from her, but she wouldn't let go of the back of his head. Connor swiftly grabbed both of her wrists and twisted them away from himself. He could see by her expression that he was hurting her. He could also see that she wanted more.

"Connor, you are making a huge mistake!"

He released her, pushing her back just slightly. "That's probably true."

Connor turned back to his car and quickly opened the door. He could feel Shay's displeasure and her eyes on him, but he ignored her. He had one thing on his mind right now. Morgan. Once he had his phone, he slammed his car door shut and started to walk away from it and Shay.

"Connor! You won't find anyone better than me!"

He tried to ignore her again, but she started to follow him. Damn it. Connor knew that if he wanted this to end, he would have to give her something. He turned around on a dime. It was so abrupt that Shay almost smashed into him.

"Shay, I have a very important business call to make. Go home, I'll see you tomorrow."

  "Tomorrow?" Her appealing eyes widened.

"Yes, take the rest of the day off. I have too much to handle."

She cocked her head to the side before smiling. "But what about my work?"

"It'll be there tomorrow. Now, please, just let me get back to it." Connor just wasn't sure what the "it" was.

Shay looked like she was going to torture him longer. She twisted her fingers together while swaying her hips. Connor let out a deep breath. "Shay, go home and come back tomorrow or just go home and never return. Those are your choices, at the moment."

Her movements stalled for a few seconds before her smile fell off. Finally, she whispered her response. "Ok, boss."

Shay then leaned in to kiss his cheek. He allowed it. Connor just wanted her gone. Giving her a bit of hope was the only way to end this fight, even if it was an asshole move. He turned away from her, starting to stroll off through the parking lot. He pressed Morgan's name in his phone.

"Come on. Pick up." He fortunately didn't hear anymore from Shay as he started pacing in the lot, waiting.

The phone rang twice, and then an unfamiliar tone sounded. Connor pulled the phone away from his face to look at the screen. She had dismissed his call. He groaned as his arms tensed. He tried again, and the call went straight to voicemail. Morgan had blocked him.

  Goddamn it, Morgan.

  Chapter Twenty-One

Connor paced in his office. He should be answering
emails or maybe trying to reschedule the meeting from earlier, but his mind was nowhere near work ready, at the moment. He had fought the urge to go looking for Morgan. Maybe going to her home until she eventually showed up. It had been near impossible and definitely torturous.

"Why hasn't she come back yet? What the hell is she doing?" He wasn't sure he wanted an answer to that.

Was she off having sex with her ex-fiancé? Was she just meeting him to let him know she had moved on? Why hasn't she been answering my phone calls then? Surely, she would know that I'd be back in the office by now.

Connor let out a guttural growl as he walked to his window that overlooked the courtyard. He stood there, staring and grinding his teeth for several minutes. The thing that struck him a bit odd was that it was a sunny, warm day, but there were no signs of life outside. No birds, no squirrels, no butterflies. He stood there longer, watching but still saw nothing. Maybe it was just his unholy mood that was causing it. Just then, a voice interrupted his angry misery.

"Sir, there is a message that I think you need to hear." Marcie's voice was even but a bit too cheery for him currently.

"Not now." He didn't turn from the window.

  "You'll want to hear it."

Connor huffed out an annoyed breath and finally faced Marcie. He walked over to his desk as she pressed a few buttons on his desk phone. She handed him the receiver and took a step back. He thought he saw her eyes flash as she did.

He exhaled roughly again before holding the phone up to his ear. The moment the message started, his heart jumped into his throat. It was Morgan. Her voice sounded shaky and almost frightened. As her slightly muffled voice filled his head, Connor felt numbness overtake him.

"This is Morgan White, and I am leaving this message for Slade Incorporated. I quit, effective immediately."

Connor froze, staring at the floor for several seconds. Without looking up, he spoke to Marcie. "Leave me." Connor moved his stare to the phone in his hand as Marcie made a small surprised noise. "I said, leave me alone."
