He pushed my legs further apart with his foot and ran his finger one more time through my folds before pushing a finger into me. I moaned so loud I pulled back from his kiss to catch my breath and focused on the feeling his finger was eliciting. He added a second finger and my body bucked, overwhelmed by sensations. My own hand involuntarily squeezed his hardness, my excitement elevating when I felt him hot and throbbing.
He buried his face against my neck, biting his way up to my ear. I knew I’d feel those bites later and a dark side of me smiled at the thought of seeing his marks on my skin. His hot breath fanned my ear when he whispered. “I was going to go slow, but I can’t Lanie. I need to feel you wrapped around me.”
“Yes.” Was the only word and thought I was capable of.
“Please tell me you’re on the pill.” He sounded like he was begging.
I nodded. “I am.”
“Thank god.” He groaned, pulling his fingers from me, grabbing my thigh and pulling it up to wrap around his waist. I dropped my hand when he fisted his cock and lined up, pushing slowly into me. I was happy he took his time, his size was intimidating, but the pleasure was definitely worth the initial pain, especially once he was fully seated.
Our twin groans echoed through the shower before he pulled out some and pushed back in, still slowly. He wore a look of pain and I realized going slow was probably hard for him considering how ready we both were.
“Faster Jake.” I panted.
“Fuck, yes.” He said, rearing back, his body slamming into mine furiously.
His thrusts became hard and fast. I held onto his shoulders and pushed up on to my tiptoe, angling my pelvis forward and moaned when he hit a spot in me that made my orgasm take hold.
His hand skirted down until his thumb landed on my clit and that’s all it took, I detonated. With a few more pumps he pushed himself deep, buried his face in my neck and groaned loudly. We slowly came back down and I shivered, realizing the water had long since turned cold. He moved his head from my shoulder to my face and ran a sweet kiss along my lips.
“You’re cold.” He whispered, but he obviously wasn’t asking. He pulled out of my body slowly, releasing my leg so I could put both feet on the ground, keeping his arm wrapped around me while I steadied. Grabbing the soap from the small shelf he quickly ran it over both of us and grinned cockily when his soapy hand ran through my folds and over my clit, causing my body to jerk. He had to know I would still be sensitive. I grabbed the soap from his hand and put it on the shelf while he chuckled and leaned around me to shut off the water.
We both stepped out, grabbed towels and dried quickly, the cold overwhelming without the heat from each other’s bodies.
I threw on my clothes and watched in complete wonder when he walked naked and confident out of the bathroom into my bedroom. I don’t know if I’d ever be confident enough to walk around naked. I finished up in the bathroom, taking a few minutes to dry my hair, needing the time to come down from my Jake high. I smelled coffee and looked to see mine, still almost full but now cold sitting on the counter.
I grabbed it and started for the kitchen, crazy nervous because I’d never been good at the after sex conversation. Although to be honest, I’d only been with one other man a few times and it was always at night so we just rolled over and went to sleep.
This was completely different and it was Jake.
CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX
JAKE
I smiled when Lanie turned the corner, looking like she wanted to hide somewhere and not face me after that fucking fantastic sex in the shower. And it was. It wasn’t a stretch to say it was the best I’d ever had. She stopped at the sink, pouring out what must’ve been her cup of coffee from earlier before turning to make a new cup of coffee.
She still hadn’t looked at me.
That wasn’t going to work for me so I walked her way, standing close to her back and resting my palms against the counter on either side of her, my chin pressed to her shoulder. Fuck she smelled good. I felt my cock twitch and I silently willed him to stay down. She had to be sore after that, I didn’t take it easy and she had been so goddamn tight, I knew she wasn’t all that experienced. Why that makes me so happy I have no idea, but I do know the thought of her with anyone else especially douchebag Trey, pisses me off.
I pulled a hand from the counter and ran it up her arm, feeling the shiver roll through her. “You good?”
“Yeah.” She said quietly, pulling her mug from the counter and turning to get milk from the refrigerator. I moved to let her through, but I wasn’t letting her get too far.
She added milk to her coffee and put it away before turning back to face me, anxiety written all over her. I decided to make this easy on the both of us by taking out the doubt and questions from the beginning.
“We’re exclusive now, right?” I blew on my coffee before bringing my cup to my lips, mainly to hide the smirk at her expression. She looked completely lost and confused and totally fucking adorable.
She pulled out a stool beside the counter and sat down, taking a sip of her coffee. “What?”
I pulled the chair out beside her, angling it until we faced each other. “Exclusive.”
Her eyes flashed to mine before dropping back to her coffee, but I wasn’t having that. “Eyes on me Lanie.”
Her eyes snapped up, her face showing her surprise. “What?”
I sighed. “Okay I see this is going to need to be spelled out so that’s what I’m going to do. Just remember I’m new at this.” I waited until she nodded, still sipping her coffee. “I want to date you. I want to be exclusive meaning I’m not seeing anyone else and you’re not seeing anyone else, especially the douche. It also means we have sex,” I thought for a moment before continuing. “alot, whenever one of us has the urge, the other should be around.”
She looked thoughtful. “What if we’re working?”
So fucking adorable. I tried not to grin, I really did, but I couldn’t remember ever having a better time after sex. Usually I would’ve already been out the door. “We’ll take a break.”
She must’ve noticed my grin and she smiled. “Are you messing with me?”
I shook my head. “No, not really anyway, I was trying to make you blush though.” I paused before continuing. “I’m being completely honest when I say I wanna see where this goes. I like spending time with you, I like talking to you.” I lowered my voice. “I fucking love having sex with you.” I felt a ridiculous amount of joy when she blushed at that. “So I guess the question is, do you?”
She nodded and I moved fast, taking her cup from her hands, putting it on the counter and pulling her from her seat so I could get my lips on her. She laughed from surprise and continued laughing when I rained kisses all along her neck before finally covering her mouth with my own, ecstatic when she opened her mouth for me, no hesitation, like we’d been doing it for years not hours.
I stopped the kiss and laid my forehead against hers. “I’m all in Lanie.”
She sighed. “Me too Jake.”
I ran my hands up to wrap around the sides of her neck. “Spend the day with me?”
She smiled. “What about Braydon?”
My heart leaped when she said my boy’s name, loving that she thought of him too. “He’s at my parent’s house. We could pick him up and do something.”
I pulled my forehead from hers when she nodded and looked into her sparkling eyes. “I’d like that.”
“Me too.” I said honestly, feeling a happiness I hadn’t allowed myself in weeks.
I spent the entire day with Bray and Lanie, which turned itself into an entire weekend. I can’t remember ever having a weekend where I did so little, but every moment counted so much. I convinced Lanie to spend Saturday and Sunday night at my house and I used that time to explore every inch of her body before she’d leave at sunrise. She was afraid of confusing Bray if he saw her there in the morning and I wondered a thousand times how I was lucky enough to have found someone who was as good
to my son as she was to me.
Had I known what Monday morning was going to bring, I would have savored those moments even more. I would’ve said more, done more, anything to show her what she was becoming to me, but I didn’t realize.
I should have.
I should have known my past wasn’t going to stay there.
CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN
JAKE
“Jake!”
I barely heard my name being yelled over the sounds of construction equipment all around me. We’d started construction on the first of twelve new homes going up in this development. Ben told me this morning that he has his eye on another fourteen acres of ground for sale and thoughts to buy that too if this goes as well as he hopes.
I climbed down the ladder from the roof that was just finished yesterday and looked across the wide expanse to see Jax waving me over. That was odd for a couple of reasons, the first one being that Jax was standing in a construction zone. We’d all grown up on job sites helping our dad and uncle Joe, most often when we were young we’d have the shitty jobs like picking up nails so they didn’t end up in a truck’s tire, but as we got older we’d all been taught to handle power tools and heavy equipment. Out of seven boys, Ben and I were the only ones interested enough to stick around, I’d never even considered doing anything else. Jax was probably the only one that didn’t miss building even a little bit. It was never something he was interested in, only doing it for dad and then for the great summer paychecks.
Walking towards him, I took my baseball cap off and shook the dirt from it. It was nice to finally have cool weather. I loved summer and summer weather, but we’d had a long one and even I was ready for a little break. It only reminded me that fall was fast moving and I knew Ben wanted a house completed before we had the chance for any bad weather, so our crew was working overtime to get something done. The initial delays hadn’t done us any favors.
Stopping in front of my big brother, the eldest of all of us, I noticed he finally looked happy. He’d had a bad few months with his wife Kasey when Gia arrived in town and named him as Lexi’s father. He’d also struggled with Cam being gone on an undercover assignment for two years and none of us had known if he was dead or alive. None of us knew how hard Jax had taken that until they came to blows in Cam’s living room and figured their shit out. It wasn’t uncommon for an all-out brawl to settle some scores amongst the brothers.
“What’s up?” I asked casually.
“What time do you finish?”
I looked around the site and knew today I was in for the long haul. “Not for a while, why?”
“Any chance you can take a break and come to our offices?”
I shook my head, getting ready to tell him there was no way in hell I could leave when something in his eyes told me he wasn’t really asking.
Then it occurred to me. “Julie?”
His expression was sympathetic. “We need to go over some shit.”
I inhaled deeply, but turned to look over the men on site wondering who the hell I could leave in charge. We’d hired new guys recently, guys I didn’t know all that well yet and did not trust to be in charge. My eyes landed on Chase and I smiled. Chase Gaines was definitely a man I could ask to take over for an hour or so.
I turned back to Jax. “Wanna meet our engineer?”
He nodded and followed me over to a table set up just off site with plans spread out, Chase standing over them with his hands on his hips.
“Chase.” I called out.
His head snapped up and he tilted up his chin before looking over my shoulder at Jax. “Hey Jake. What’s up man?”
“Couple of things. Wanted to introduce you to my brother Jax.”
Chase threw his hand out, which Jax readily took to shake. “Hey Jax.”
“Chase.” Jax said. “You’re the engineer I’ve been hearing about.” Chase smiled before Jax continued. “I’ll tell you it takes a lot to impress our dad and he’s very impressed by you and your plans.”
Chase’s smile grew. “That’s good to know. I admire your dad and the business he’s built here. The way Jake and Ben are moving it forward tells me all I need to know about your family.”
“I agree with that.”
“If you guys are done kissing each other’s asses, I’ll tell you what else I need.” I interrupted, earning me a slap to the back of my head from Jax, whose grin stretched ear to ear.
Chase chuckled. “What do you need?”
“Any chance you can keep an eye on progress while I run to Jax’s office quick?” I asked.
Chase looked down at his watch. “Yeah, I’ve got a couple of hours before I need to be back at the office.”
I slapped him on the shoulder and smiled. “Thanks man, I’ll be as quick as I can.”
He gave me and Jax a chin lift before turning his attention back to the plans in front of him.
Jax spoke up while I followed him to the dirt area where all of our trucks were parked. “I like him.”
“Glad I got your seal of approval, brother. I’ll sure as hell sleep better tonight.” I said sarcastically, earning me another head slap and a chuckle from Jax.
“You’re such a smart ass.” He said. “I’m glad you have Lanie now to settle your ass, although from what I saw at dinner it seems she just riles you up.”
I laughed. “She sure does, man.”
I hopped up in my truck, following Jax out of the parking area and off to his offices, luckily only about fifteen minutes away. I wasn’t looking forward to this meeting mainly because I’d never been in one before. My brothers were all involved in either law enforcement or the security business, neither of which I’ve ever had any interest. I threw my truck in park just as my phone beeped.
I pulled it from my front pocket, noticing I had a few missed texts and a call from Jax. That explained why he came to get me from the job site. Reading the new message, I grinned.
Mom: Braydon is asking for Wanie-lol-I told him he could see her tonight. Don’t make me a liar Jacob.
My mom was watching Bray for me today because Lanie had a lot of work to catch up on, but when I was done working I planned to pick him up and head to her house. She was making dinner and Paige had been right when she’d said Lanie’s a fantastic cook. I finally found that out for myself Saturday night. I had no plans to tell my family anything yet about me and Lanie, but I had no doubt that my mom at the very least was on to us.
Me: I won’t mom. I sent the message quickly to my mom before shoving the phone back into my pocket and pushing open the door. Jax was waiting beside the door to the offices, so I headed that way and followed him up.
I smiled at their receptionist when I passed the desk. “Hey Leah.”
She smiled sweetly. “Hey Jake. How are you?”
“I’m good sweetheart. You?”
Jax looking irritated called out to me from a little down the hallway. “Jake, stop your damn flirting. Let’s go.”
Leah giggled. “You better go before his face gets red, that’s the sign he’s really mad.”
I chuckled. “I’m not afraid of that old man.”
“Jake!” Who the hell was that calling out to me?
I started towards the hallway before yelling back over my shoulder. “See you later Leah.”
I shoved open the halfway closed conference room door and was surprised to see the table full of men. My eyes rounded the table falling on Luke in the back corner. Shit, this didn’t feel like a good visit at all.
Brody looked over his shoulder from where he was sitting. “Hey man, why don’t you sit down?”
I did just that before asking what I wanted, no, what I needed to know. “Did you find him?”
Everyone knew I meant the fucker who shot Luke, I could see the barely controlled rage on their faces.
“We found him.” Chris spoke up.
“So, where is he?” I asked.
“He’s hiding out a few towns over.” My eyes found the source of the voice and realized it wa
s Striker, an employee that Brody brought on after he left the Navy. They’d served together and Brody thought he’d be a good guy to have on their team because he’s one hell of a tracker. Looks like in this instance, he’s earned his paycheck. “He’s in with their local Motorcycle Club.”
“Kind of arrogant only going a few towns, don’t you think?” I asked.
Cam shook his head. “Not really. He’s well protected and he’s knows it. Nobody’s getting in that place.”
I looked back at Striker. “Then, how did you?”
He grinned a scary as fuck grin. “Don’t worry about it.”
“If you know he’s there, can’t you get a warrant or something to arrest him?”
“We used creative measures to find him.” Chris said. “Not entirely legal.”
I shrugged. “I know for a fact that there’s a whole police department that wants him. They are not going to care if you took all the legal steps.”
“That’s true, but we need to do it legally so when we finally get him, we can actually hold him this time.” Luke said.
That made sense. “So, what do you need from me?”
Brody’s eyes flicked to Jax’s and I knew right then that Brody didn’t like what was going to be asked.
“We have two options to get information on him and one involves you.” Jax said.
“What would I have to do?” I asked.
“Get tight with that bitch Julie.” Striker said.
I closed my eyes, letting the anger of just hearing her name wash over me. I did not want to spend time with her, especially not now.
“Option two,” Cam said, motioning across from him towards Nick. “Is to send Nick in undercover.”
I hadn’t even seen Nick sitting across from Cam until now. Nick and Cam used to be partners when they both worked undercover for the DEA.
