The Last Wolf Fae
Page 16
Please let it be Alfred.
The grey wolf’s body slipped off the red wolf, as he rose up on his four legs and in my haste I slammed into him, as I flung my arms around the huge wolf’s neck. He turned back to a human in my arms and held me tightly, his cheek resting on top of my head.
“You are alive,” I beamed.
“Yeah, although if feels like barely,” he moaned, and shifted his body in agony.
I let go of him and inspected his torn clothes. “Are you badly hurt?”
“I’ll survive. It’s not my first wolf fight.”
I helped him up. His face turned angry again as he confronted Paw.
“You are here in person.”
There was no friendly greeting, no appreciation of his impeccable timing and no small talk. Obviously, I realised that they had known each other for a very long time and they were rivals. The only reason they were not ripping each other’s throats out was because of a treaty. Question was if the treaty was still valid after all of this.
They stared at each other for the longest time.
“Some business is important enough to tend to personally to ensure success,” he said at last, and rubbed his hand over Liz’s shoulder with the arm that was held around her. “Cubs are worth protection at any cost, wouldn’t you say?”
“I agree.”
“Let’s destroy all the evidence relating to this project ever existed and go home to our normal lives. All the people close to this project are dead so we should be safe from now on unless we mention it again,” he added and angled Liz’s face to his to remind her that she knew the consequences of speaking.
Liz nodded shamefully and I could se her glance over to where Jolie was still hanging from the ceiling. It was unbelievable what extent Darcy had acted to obtain power. Power is a useful tool when used for good, but can be devastating if used maliciously and with greed.
“But Sir?” I blurted out. “We need to tell the authorities about all of this. We need to seek justice for the murdered. And we still need to activate the programme. We can’t let the people die in vain. We are all of the same opinion that we want to save the world, right?” I queried.
“Perhaps the world isn’t ready to be saved yet, Miss Moore.”
“That is why we need to make sacrifices. The world is not unified enough to take such a big decision. We need to make it happen. We need to strengthen the rebellion. Aren’t you their leader?”
“I don’t think it is wise to bring it up with the government. They won’t support the sacrifice of so many people’s wealth even if it gains long term health.”
“We should try.”
“Be careful how you phrase yourself, Wolf Fae, or you might find that you are the last Wolf Fae.”
Alfred growled.
“You know Wolf Fae are strong, but not unbeatable, Alfred.”
“I’m aware, but I don’t like you threatening this one.”
“There are no others.”
“I’m aware. Although my passion for this one goes deeper than categorising breeds. And as you said. We do anything to protect our own. So what will your answer be to the project? What will we do to act responsibly?”
“You do what you will, but perhaps a lesser approach would be more suitable. You could work harder on convincing more people to make individual contributions and sacrifices. In that way you leave every individual with a choice.”
“That will take too long and it won’t help enough,” I disagreed.
“Who are you to determine what is enough and what should be? You are not a fae of the world. You are only a fae of the wolves. If you want our Blue Wolfprint Treaty to remain I also suggest you don’t interfere with grey wolf pack business. With regards to helping the world, you can start by helping the world yourself, that will be a good start. One person can make a difference, especially if it inspires others to do the same.”
“But we need to work together.”
“You are lucky that I have decided not to break the Blue Wolfprint Treaty after what happened to Karen. I will consider us even, since Dacry was partially to blame and you made your best efforts to protect my cub.”
He looked Alfred and me and then took Liz by her hand. “Come. Let’s go. We need to ‘go missing’ again. And you never saw us,” he said rather threateningly whilst pointing at Alfred and me. We both nodded in response.

ALL CONTRIBUTIONS ADD UP
I understood that I had a decision to make. I could either carry on fighting for the Green Skyway project to better the world, or I could resolve to be satisfied with any small contributions that I could make myself.
I sat by a visitor’s desk at the police station feeling all jumbled up, inside and outside. I plonked the black bag onto the floor and waited for Alfred to come out from his hearing. He wasn’t a suspect for any murder, as no one knew about the supermarket still, but the police wanted to question any people who had recently seen Sir John and Anne, as they were missing. The hearing was taking a while and I started to fiddle with the guest computer on the desk, searching for the news. All the articles only emphasised that there was so much misery in the world. Suddenly I remembered the letter from Nagu and brought it out from the backpack. I re-typed the text into translation software.
My dear wife. They have captured me in the new world and they have locked me up. The wealth that was promised was spoken by a false tongue. I have failed to obtain money and I will fail you. This will be the last you hear from me. I wish our sons are strong for you when I’m unable to be. Yet, I fear that due to the weakness in your health, I will soon meet you in Heaven, where I will be waiting for you. My love is eternal. Nagu.
The competition had destroyed Nagu and his entire family. They were in Nigeria, judging by the address, and his poor family would perish without his help. Nagu hadn’t chosen to enter the competition and didn’t even know why he had been there. He only knew his presence there made his family grow weaker. It was no wonder his anxiety was too great to bear. I folded my arms on top of the desk and buried my face in them. I will be able to go home today, have a hot bath, eat a luxurious meal and sleep in a soft bed. Nagu’s family would never be free of their poverty and their misery.
Alfred returned from his hearing, took me outside and sat me down on a park bench near the police station.
“Are you alright?”
“I don’t know. I still feel frightened.”
“Are you sure you want to release this scandal? We would have to start running again, and next time I’m not sure Paw will save the day.”
“We?” I whispered warmly.”
“Are you turning me away?” Alfred asked, clasping nervously with both his hands at the bench.
“No,” I answered and gazed at the world going by in front of us.
Firstly, I now understood that a whole world couldn’t be fixed by one action from one woman, but it needed to be a contribution of every person’s efforts combined. Perhaps announcing the scandal would only bring misery. Maybe my ambition should lie in taking one step at the time. I wanted to help Nagu’s wife. I also needed to stay safe for my breed’s sake. I was the last Wolf Fae and it was my responsibility to ensure the red wolf breed didn’t go extinct.
“Let’s go home,” I said, but thought twice about how I had phrased myself as I didn’t want it to come off as a command. “Alpha, you are staying with me tonight,” I then said smiling playfully.
The biggest smile that I had ever seen spread across his face. “I wouldn’t refuse that command even if I could, my Wolf Fae.”
It was late in the evening when we arrived back at my apartment. It felt strange being in my apartment, where we had both been so many times before, but in other circumstances. Now I was holding his hand. Now I had heard him tell me outright that he loved me.
I loved him too, crazily so.
“Are you tired?” he asked me, showing his devotion to my feelings.
“I’m not as tired as the extent I have missed
a soft bed.”
“I can’t wait to have a perfect sleep. My first one ever.”
“What do you mean? Is that a wolf reference? Why would it be your first one?”
He looked at me and tucked a strand of my red hair behind my ear. “Because I will be next to you,” he whispered.
I mused. “But first I should teach you how to do T,” I teased.
Alfred grinned and it was as if I could almost feel his hunting instincts switch on. The playfulness was back in his eyes. The way his fingertips stroked my skin made my pulse race. He followed them down to my throat and rounded his palm around my neck.
“I believe I’m ready to learn, Miss Teacher.”
He slowly unbuttoned his shirt, without losing eye contact. He looked deeply into my eyes, hungrily. It was as if he had been starved of me his whole life. After he had ripped of his shirt he inhaled and chested himself up, large and strong. He started to walk, pushing against me, to corner my body into the bedroom. I couldn’t do other than back up and stare. I stared at his abdomen as the muscles pressed against my chest. They were hard and clearly marked in eight rectangles. He grabbed hold of my top and pulled it over my head, revealing my bust in a black lace bra. His touch made my core shiver. I felt impatient. I wanted this more than anything. I needed it to forget my past and I needed it as a promise for my future. But most of all I needed it now to feel the pleasure.
When the back of my knees couldn’t get any closer to the bed frame he started to undo the buckle of his belt. He undid the button and slowly pulled down the zipper of his trousers. His trousers and boxer shorts disappeared off his body, leaving his naked majestic alpha body. Strong, ready and mine. He pushed me down onto the bed. He wouldn’t be scared to be rough, as one command from me would force him to obey. But there was no chance in hell I was going to order him away. My heart was pounding, my blood was rushing around in my veins and my nerves were on edge. I wanted this and I wanted it now.
Take me now!
He unhooked my bra, pinched its join at the front and tossed it away. His lips wandered over my breasts and I turned my head up and closed my eyes as I enjoyed the sensual sensation. He carried on kissing down my stomach and to the line of my jeans. He fiddled down one finger between my skin and the jeans, only playing with it along the edge. Then he popped open the button and zipped them down. He didn’t pull my trousers, but only separated them. He made wet kisses, using his tongue, working his way down to my knickers. I moaned, and felt I could barely take the tension. It felt like I had drifted off to a place where only pleasure existed. I was so aroused I didn’t know how to handle the effects it had on my body. He pulled my trousers off and then the knickers. I was naked, my skin exposed to the air and my body on display for him to see.
“You are so beautiful,” he whispered between the kisses.
I could only answer with a moan and breathe heavily as I felt my chest would otherwise collapse.
He stroked his hand from my throat down to my sweet spot. “You are mine.”
He flipped me over onto my stomach with one sharp twist and placed his arm under me, yanking my bottom up to perk into his stomach. He traced his hand over it and down my thigh. I felt his body curving into place along mine and his pillar forcing itself slowly into me. He let his weight bear down on me as he worked his body like a wave hitting the shore. He breathed out and groaned. He was conquering me, he was a wolf, he was the alpha.
He kissed my shoulder and nibbled on my ear. “I love you.”
Saying the words made him lose control and the thrusting became faster. Violent. Obsessive. His breathing sped frantically and his muscles clenched. It was the definition of sexy, of pleasure.
Holy shit I’m going to come. Now!
I screamed. I let it all out. It wasn’t by choice, but created by internal compulsion.
He pushed down all his weight on me and dug his face between my cheek and shoulder as he groaned loudly. Then we both relaxed. Satisfied. Pleasured. Perfect.

I found out I was more wolf than human, the hard way. My pregnancy crammed morning sickness, mood swings and cravings into only two months, before I gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl. Alfred had been stressed: working his government job that he had been able to go back to, as no one had ever found out about the bet, running to the supermarket to buy anything that satisfied my cravings and obeyed my every other command. The connection I had to the wolves was so useful. I could tell him to do the dishes, clean up after himself or tell him to change a nappy, without him being able to refuse. That he smiled every time I commanded him made it easier. He thought it was an endearing game, and it made me hot for him, which I suppose helped the play even more.
On the first midnight wolf moon after my daughter was born, we witnessed her transformation. She was only two months old and still she adhered to her wolf calling. Her fur had a silver colour; there were only streaks on her ears and a light shade of red on her face. I expected that her fur would shift to a more reddish one once she got older, although Alfred had both silver and red tones in his fur when he shifted so it could go either way. I would have to wait and see, but for now I called her Silver Wolf. I liked the thought of it. I liked the fact that she was her own breed, half Wolf Fae and half wolf-shifter, who stood outside the law of the Blue Wolf Print Treaty. She was more than what that treaty could chain her to. She was a princess above the wolves. As she grew older and started to talk, my heart smiled at the way she could twist Alfred’s heart around her little finger. As if her strawberry blonde hair and her shining blue eyes didn’t make it hard for him already. She didn’t know her effect on him, but if she phrased herself correctly, he had no choice other than to obey her will. Soon enough though, she would figure it out. Her teens would be a challenge.
I was so happy. I had a lovely family. I had finally found out what had happened to my parents. I loved working at the Zoo and realised I had the ability to persuade most animals, even if it wasn’t as definite as when I commanded the wolves. Alfred and I could enjoy evening strolls in the forest, knowing no wolf could hurt us. We walked near the edge of the forest, behind our new home in the suburbs. Carrying our two-year-old girl by one arm and holding Alfred’s hand in the other, we enjoyed the summer night and I felt glad that I was no longer the last Wolf Fae. My life was complete…until I saw the terror that was approaching us. My face dropped and I was afraid that I would lose everything.
“Shift!” I commanded Alfred, my princess also obeying my order.
Fangs shown, tails between legs, heads bent low and fury set in yellow eyes. I feared this could be the end of the two last Wolf Fae.
To be continued…
