My Texas Sweetheart (book one)
Page 17
I smile against her lips. “No worries, baby. Soon, but for now, I want you to enjoy yourself.”
I start to lay her down on the blankets, kissing her neck. Damn, she smells so good, like coconuts and lilies. She even tastes like coconuts. I move my hands up her body. “Oh, god, that feels so good,” she moans.
“Just wait, baby. It’s gonna get a lot better,” I mutter.
Slowly, I take her bikini top off, lay beside her, and kiss her lips again. When she starts to move her hands, I grab them, moving my lips down to her neck, collarbone, and to the top of her breasts. She gives me another moan. “Put your hands above your head, baby, and leave them there.”
She does what I tell her. Shit, she has some beautiful tits. I lean down and suck one nipple into my mouth. She moans even louder. “I love that sound,” I whisper. I bite her nipple and then move to the other one, giving it my attention, too.
“Please, Jase…” she pleads. She is so responsive to every touch.
I move my one hand down to her bikini bottoms. Maggie arches up, but I move to her hip and untie one side and then the other. When I have both sides undone, I move my lips back to hers and she kisses me hungrily. I move one hand to her breast and the other one to her thigh. I start to move up her thigh, and she wiggles around and moans. “What’s wrong, baby? Are you ready for me?” I ask.
I bring my hand in between her legs. I can feel how wet she is. I start to move down her body, leaving little kisses along the way. “Hurry up, Jase…” she moans.
I laugh against her belly button. “Relax, baby. I’ll take good care of you.” I lift my head away from her belly so I can see her pussy. “Damn, that’s pretty.” She looks at where I am staring and blushes. “I love making you blush.”
I lower my head between her legs. God that smells like coconuts, too. “My new favorite smell is coconuts.” She moans and I groan. Fuck, I don’t know how long I can keep this up before I explode.
I lick her pussy from bottom to top. “You taste so good, Maggie.”
I spread her lips with one finger and push it in. Maggie moans loudly. I move my other hand down so I can play with her clit, pushing another finger inside of her. “Oh, my god, Jase!” She screams out her first orgasm. I draw it out for her until she goes limp.
I start to move up her body. She’s looking at me from half-closed eyes. I smile at her. “How was that, baby?”
She gives me a huge smile. “Amazing. God, I love you.”
Bending down, I kiss her and mumble, “I love you, too, so damn much.”
She starts moving her hands to my shirt, but I take it off for her. I start working at taking off my jeans, as well. “I want you inside me, Jase.”
Laughing, I say, “Me, too, baby…so bad.”
I reach into my pocket so I can pull out a condom. As I am ripping it open and rolling it down my dick, I see Maggie watching me. “Like what you see, baby?” She nods.
When I have the condom on, I push her legs open and settle between them. “Are you sure about this? Because we can stop,” I ask one more time.
“Yes, babe. I’m sure. Please hurry.” She is just so cute.
I lean down to kiss her. Deeping the kiss, I start to slowly push in. I feel her tense up. Breaking the kiss, I say, “Baby, am I hurting you?”
Her eyes open. “Just a little bit. Give me a minute.”
I’ll give her all the time in the world, as long as she doesn’t tell me to stop because I don’t think I can even if I wanted to. She lifts her hips so I take that as my sign that she is ready. Moving slowly, I push in more and stop, waiting for her to get used to my size. She nods to tell me she is ready so I push the rest of the way in. Fuck, she’s so tight. Leaning down, I nuzzle her neck and she starts moving her hips “Shit, baby. Stop. I need a minute.”
Maggie stops moving and I kiss her, pushing my tongue into her mouth. I start to slowly move inside her. “Damn, baby. You feel so good.” I brace myself on my arms and move a little faster.
“Go faster, Jase.” I start slamming into her hard. She’s clawing my back and moaning loudly. I reach in between her legs and start to play with her clit. “Oh, my god. Don’t stop,” she gasps.
Fuck, I am so close to cumming. “Baby, are you close?” She nods so I start moving faster in and out of her.
Maggie screams out her orgasm. Damn, she’s squeezing the shit out of my dick. I draw it out for her, then let my orgasm come. “Fuck, Maggie!” I call out and collapse on top of her.
When both of us can breathe again, I roll onto my side, pulling her into my arms “Damn, baby. That felt so good. I love you.”
Maggie cuddles closer. “Yes it did. I love you, too.” She giggles. I love it when she giggles.
Just when I am leaning in to kiss her, both our phones go off. “Shit, who in the hell is bugging us now?” I say, looking at her. She smiles. I pick up my phone and see a text from Dad:
Dad: Jase, you need to get home NOW!!!
What the hell?! I look over at Maggie to see tears in her eyes. “Babe, we gotta go,” she says. Fuck, what is going on?
“Baby, what’s wrong?”
Maggie looks at me, then gets up, throwing her clothes on. “Now, Jase.”
I quickly throw my clothes on, while Maggie gets all the stuff into my truck. She walks over to me and holds out her hands. “Keys, Jase. You shouldn’t drive.” WHAT…THE…HELL?
I look into her eyes. “No, baby. I’m driving. Get in.” She looks at me for a minute, then sighs and gets into the passenger side.
When we are on the road, I ask, “What’s going on?”
Maggie shakes her head. “Just wait until we get to your house, babe.” Fuck, this has to be bad.
Maggie’s phone rings and she quickly answers it. “Hello?...Um, yeah, we’re almost there…Yeah, I know…I didn’t say anything…Okay…Love you, too. ‘Bye.” She looks over at me. “Babe, I love you…always.” What?! Why does she feel like she needs to remind me?
“Baby, I love you, too. Nothing is going to ever change that.” Oh, my god. Why is she crying? I reach over for her hand and she holds mine tight.
Ten minutes later, we are pulling into my parent’s ranch. All of the Summers are here, along with what looks like Jake’s and Amy’s cars. Seriously, what the hell is going on? When I park, Maggie lets go of my hand and jumps out. The front door opens and out comes all the Summer boys, along with Amy and Jake. “WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?! SOMEONE NEEDS TO TELL ME NOW!!” I roar. Maggie walks over to me and grabs my hand. I hold on tight, waiting for someone to talk.
Adam walks over and says, “You’re parents will fill you in.” I glare at them, then pull Mags towards the house. I hear them sigh, following behind us.
When we get inside, I see Maggie’s parents and mine sitting at the table with Heather. They all look like they have been crying. “What the hell is going on?” I ask.
My dad looks at me, then everyone else. “April was hit by a car tonight.” What? Why in the hell is everyone sitting here and not at the hospital?
“Why are we just standing here then?” Dad looks at Brad.
“Because, son, April was killed tonight. It was a hit-and-run,” Brad whispers.
I start shaking my head. No fucking way is my baby sister dead. I look at my mom and can tell that it’s the truth. I start to back towards the door, when Adam puts his hand on my shoulder. “That’s not all of it,” Dad says. What else could there be? Do they know who did it?
I look at dad, then Brad. “We know who hit her. The police said there was a note, but they didn’t give it to us yet. They will tomorrow. Jase, the person who hit April is Christian.”
“No fucking way!” I yell.
Brad and Dad look at each other, then back at me. “Before you ask, they said there isn’t a whole lot of details… yet.” How much more is that son of a bitch going to take away from us?
I turn around, grabbing Maggie’s hand, pulling her back outside. “Jase, maybe you should stay with your f
amily right now,” she says. No, I need her right now.
When we are far enough away from the house, I pull her into my arms. Fuck, we were so happy not that long ago. Why did this have to happen? Why in the fuck didn’t the cops call to tell us about Christian? I hold Maggie tighter and, before I know it, I am crying and she is rocking me back and forth. I never notice that I fall to the ground. I’m crying like a baby in my girl’s lap. I hear people talking behind us, but I choose to ignore them. “Shh, baby, I’m right here,” Maggie whispers. She says something to someone else, but I’m not listening.
I don’t know how much time passes before I hear Adam’s voice, “Bro, we should get you inside.”
I shake my head and tighten my grip on Maggie. “Son, she’ll go with you. Don’t worry.” That sounds like my dad, but I still shake my head. I can feel Maggie crying.
“Don’t cry, baby. I love you,” I tell her, raising my head from her lap.
I see that all the guys are standing around us. “Don’t worry about me, Jase. Come on. I think we should go inside. I’ll take you up to bed.”
“No, not yet. Are you cold?” I ask.
“I’m good,” she says, worried.
I stand up and pull her up with me. Looking around, I see the worry on all of their faces. “Baby, go inside and get warm. I’ll be there in a while.” I look towards my truck.
“No, I’ll stay out here with you.” I want her to go in. This is something she doesn’t need to see and hear. It would kill me if she knew any of the things running through my head right now.
“I’ll be fine. Please, go get warmed up.” I pull her into my arms one last time and kiss for forehead before I shove her towards the house.
“Don’t worry. We won’t leave him alone,” Creed tells her, and she nods.
As soon as she is inside the house, I start for my truck, but I am stopped by dad and Brad. “No, I don’t fucking think so, Jase. I know you wanna hurt him. Fuck, so do the rest of us, but where would that leave those left behind? You’d get jail time, and the girls would be here wondering what they could have done to stop you. Maggie would blame herself. Face it, she is already. So you need to ask yourself if it’s worth it. In the end, he’ll have won,” Brad says.
“I need to do something! I can’t just sit here!” I yell.
“Come on. Let’s play some ball; get it out while we play,” Jade tells me.
“Why the hell not? I guess it’s worth a shot,” I mumble. We all head towards to back of the house. Creed grabs a football and we all start playing.

After a few hours, we head inside. I don’t feel any better. I see that Maggie’s mom has made food, coffee, and hot chocolate. “Go clean up, boys,” Lily says.

The next couple of days pass by in a blur. Dad and Brad went to the police station to read the note, but neither of them would tell us what it said. I have noticed that all of Maggie’s brothers haven’t left her side. She’s taking April’s death really hard. I know she blames herself, and it doesn’t matter how much we tell her it’s not her fault.
I’m sitting up in my room, getting ready to burry my baby sister. I just wanna hear her laugh again, or see her smile. I don’t know what I am going to do without her. This is gonna be a hard day for all of us. “Jase, come on! It’s time to go!” Dad yells. I get up and grab my tie, then head downstairs. We all get into my dad’s truck and head for the church.
Pulling up, I see the Summers’, Amy, and Jake waiting outside. Getting out, I walk over to Maggie and pull her into my arms. “Hey, baby,” I say.
She gives me a sad smile. “Let’s head in,” Mom says.
Walking into the church, I never let go of Maggie’s hand. When we get to the front, she pulls her hand from mine and sits with her family behind us. “Baby, please sit with me,” I say.
She looks over at my parents and they nod. “Of course.” She sits next to me and I grab her hand again.
Once we are all seated, Pastor Dan starts the service. I block it all out, until I feel Maggie pulling on my hand. I look over at her, and she whispers, “Jase, I need my hand so I can go up there with your mom.” I nod and let go.
Hand-in-hand, Mom and Maggie make their way up to the front. “Maggie and I are going to read a poem for April,” Mom says, letting out a little sob.
Mom: “If I knew it would be the last time that I'd see you fall asleep, I would tuck you in more tightly and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.”
Maggie: “If I knew it would be the last time that I see you walk out the door, I would give you a hug and kiss, calling you back for one more.”
Mom: “If I knew it would be the last time I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would videotape each action and word so I could play them back day after day.”
Maggie: “If I knew it would be the last time, I would spare an extra minute to stop and say ‘I love you’, instead of assuming that you KNOW I do.”
Mom: “If I knew it would be the last time I would be there to share your day, I’m sure you'll have so many more so I can let just this one slip away.”
Maggie: “For surely there's always tomorrow to make up for an oversight, and we always get a second chance to make everything just right.”
Mom: “There will always be another day to say ‘I love you’, and there’s certainly another chance to say ‘Anything I can do?’”
Maggie: “But just in case I might be wrong, and today is all I get, I'd like to say how much I love you and I hope you never forget.”
Mom: “Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old, and today may be the last chance you get to hold your loved one tight.”
Maggie: “So if you're waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today? For if tomorrow never comes, you'll surely regret the day,”
Mom: “That you didn't take that extra time for a smile, a hug, or a kiss, and you were too busy to grant someone what turned out to be their one last wish.”
Maggie: “So hold your loved ones close today and whisper in their ear how much you love them and that you'll always hold them dear.”
Mom: “Take time to say ‘I’m sorry’, ‘Please forgive me’, ‘Thank you’, or ‘it’s okay’. And if tomorrow never comes, you'll have no regrets about today.”
I don’t know how either one made it through that poem. They’re both crying so hard. When they sit down again, I put my arm around Maggie and kiss her cheek. “Thank-you for going up there with my mom,” I whisper.
“There’s no need to thank me, babe.”
Ten minutes later, we’re being called to carry April’s casket. Adam, Creed, and Jade are on one side, and Dad, Brad, and I are on the other. When we start walking past, Mom and Heather stand. They both line up behind us; Maggie, Lily, Amy, and Jake behind them. I notice Mark, Gabe, and Kara by the doors. They nod when we pass them, falling into line with the rest of the family. Once outside, we put the casket inside the hearse and we all pile into our trucks.
When we get to the cemetery, I can’t believe what I’m seeing. Chase, holding an American flag, and all the SEALS are standing there in uniform, rifles in their hands. We line up outside the car to carry April’s casket to the grave site. Once there, we set it down and move aside. Chase drapes the flag over the casket. Then looks at me. “Sorry we didn’t make it to the service,” he says. After the ceremony and we said our final goodbyes, we all head back to my parent’s ranch.

Over the next few weeks, Adam, Jake, and I continue to look for Christian. From what we know, he isn’t that far away from Bumble Bee. Chase and his buddies are also looking so we have high hopes of finding him. I am just not sure what I will do once we find him. A huge part of me wants to get revenge for April, Maggie, and the rest of us. I haven’t seen much of Maggie in the last few weeks, but I don’t really want her around when all this shit is going on. My girl has been through more than enough.
My thoughts come back to the present. Adam and I are at o
ur football game. So far, we are winning 45-22, but I am thinking more about shit with Christian than the game. “Jase get your head in the game!” Jake yells.
I glare over at him. “Shut up, man.” He is just about to say something else when Adam shoots him a look that tells him to back off.
After the game is over, which we won, and just before I reach my truck, I hear someone yelling my name. Looking over, I see Amy and Heather running towards me. I start to panic. “What’s wrong? Is it Maggie?”
They both glare at me. “You have been ignoring her for over two weeks and now you’re concerned about her?” Amy sneers at me. They’re both pissed and I can’t blame them, but why can’t they stay out of it?
“Yeah, I’m concerned when I see you to running this way and calling my name. Seriously, I love her.”
Amy and Heather both roll their eyes. “You have an awesome way of showing it!” Heather yells. Adam and Jake are both standing with us now.
“That’s my business,” I say.
“Maggie is my best friend and she is hurting right now. She thinks she did something wrong! Look, Jase, I know you are going through a lot right now, but don’t shut Maggie out. She needs you and you need her.” Maybe she’s right, but I can’t help this. I need to do this for April and if I lose Maggie, then I’ll just get her back when all this shit is over with.
“I’m sorry, girls, but I need to do this. April deserves it.”
They both look at me with tears in their eyes. “She was my sister, too, Jase, and I loved her to death, but I am not pushing away the love of my life to get revenge,” Heather sobs. Amy and Heather both turn around and walk away from me.
I look over at Adam to see that he is staring at me. “You have something to add?” I ask.
Adam shakes his head. “No, dude. I know how much this is ripping you apart, but she is my sister.” I nod and get into my truck.
Adam and Jake jump in. “We aren’t letting you do this shit alone, Jase,” Adam says.
I start shaking my head, but they both glare at me. “Don’t go there, Bro!” Jake yells.
I sigh. “Alright, guys,” I say.
