Tomorrow's Lullaby Page 20

by Lindzee Armstrong

  “Aaron—”

“No.” He stuck his hand into his pocket, fidgeting. “I’d planned to do this somewhere romantic, like the Statue of Liberty or Central Park. But I can’t wait another second.” Slowly, he sank onto one knee and pulled out a box.

Sienna gasped, placing a hand over her heart. Blood thundered through her ears, a melodic roar. “Oh my gosh.”

“You showed me that there are two sides to every story. You supported me in the search for my birth mom. You let me into your heart and introduced me to your son. You are loving and kind and exactly who I want to spend forever with. I don’t care if we live in New York, or in Philadelphia, or in a cardboard box, as long as we’re together. Sienna McBride, will you marry me?”

A thousand moments flashed before her eyes—the first time he’d kissed her, the daisies crushed between them and her clothes smelling of airplane. Stargazing at the high school, where he’d told her he was falling in love. A smile dancing across his face as he chased Hunter around the living room.

This moment, where he offered her his heart.

“Yes,” she said slowly. “I’ll marry you. I love you so much.”

She threw her arms around Aaron and kissed him. He rose, slipping the ring onto her finger. Sienna looked down at the diamond that sparkled in the light. New measures played in her head, and she knew she’d finally found the ending to Aaron’s Melody.

She didn’t know what the future held. She didn’t know if she’d get into Juilliard, if they’d move to New York, or if she’d ever open her own piano studio. But none of that matter. With Aaron, she’d finally found her song.

In the book, Sienna purposefully keeps her past, and specifically her son, a secret from Aaron. Should she have told him sooner?

How have Aaron and Sienna’s life experiences shaped their views on adoption?

How have your own life experiences shaped your views on adoption?

Do you think that open adoptions or closed adoptions are healthier for the parties involved? Why?

At the end of the book, Aaron is very upset with Sienna when he finds out about her son. Does he have a right to be mad at her?

Do you think that Jared would’ve been understanding of Sienna’s past, had she told him? Why or why not?

Did Kyra and David make the right decision by not letting Dane see Hunter right away? Why or why not?

How did Sienna and Aaron grow over the course of the book?

  Read where Sienna’s story began…

This book has probably been one of the hardest I’ve ever written. For whatever reason, Sienna and Aaron’s story was a struggle to get out, but so rewarding in the end. There were so many times along the way I was certain this book would never make it to bookshelves. If it weren’t for my amazing husband, who took care of the kids and the house and dinner and so many other things while I rushed to meet my publication deadline, this book wouldn’t have made it.

Thanks to my beta readers, Liz, LaChelle, and Candice, for their invaluable feedback and support. Thank you to Jaclyn, who read the book in a single day and assured me it wasn’t awful and I could take that leap and release it into the world. Thank you to my critique group, the Authorities—David, Jacob, Darren, and LaChelle—for their suggestions and support. And most of all, thank you to my Heavenly Father, who has supported me on every step of this crazy publishing journey. I am so blessed!
