  “Now, my news.” She smiled softly. “You my love are soon going to be a daddy.”

  “A, you mean, I’m, you’re—pregnant?”

  “Yes, five months, so that means...”

  “Yes, in four months we are going to be parents.”

  “Haven’t you made the connection, Goran?”

  “Connection?” He looked puzzled.

  “Connection!” Hannah laughed. “In four months we are going to be having a baby. At Christmas!”

  * * * *

  It was four days before Christmas and the snow was falling. Pendragon was looking its festive best and there was a hint of expectancy filling the air. The Henrys were busy in the kitchen but every now and again they exchanged excited glances. The dogs were lying at the bottom of the stairs and with every sound their heads lifted, and when no one called them they placed their giant heads back on their paws with a deep sigh.

  Hannah and Goran were smiling gently down at their brand new offspring, William Goran Pendragon weighing in at six pounds two ounces with a ferocious pair of lungs and an ear-splitting cry that demanded his mother’s attention.

  Goran gently stroked a trembling hand across his son’s head, quickly blinking away the moisture gathering in his eyes. Never had life been any more perfect. His wife, his son, his health and Pendragon, what more could a man ask for?

  Hannah smiled at her husband instinctively knowing what he was thinking.

  So leaning forward she placed her son in his father’s arms and planting a kiss on Goran’s rugged cheek smiled tenderly.

  “Maybe a daughter?” she suggested softly.
