Chapter One
Mike Black
“Who the fuck you think you are coming up in here trying to tell me how to run my business?”
Emmet Grey had asked the exact question that I wanted him to ask, so naturally, I had an answer. I rammed my forearm into his jaw and he hit the floor hard. When I did, Bobby, Nick and Jamaica each pulled their guns to cover the other people in the gambling house. I stood over Emmet and then I kicked him in the face.
“I’m Mike Black!”
I snatched him up from the floor. I punched him in the face and kept punching him over and over. Then I grabbed his collar and pulled him toward me.
“And you’re wrong. This ain’t your business, it’s mine, and I roll up in here any time I fuckin’ feel like it.”
Then I grabbed Emmet by the arm and slung him toward the door, he stumbled and fell. I jerked him to his feet, and slung him toward the door again. I walked up on him quickly, pulled him up and threw him out the door. I went out after him and everybody in the place followed me out into the street.
Good.
I wanted them all to see.
I jerked Emmet up from the ground and got in his face.
“Look around you, my nigga, and understand. These are my streets! As far as the eye can see. That means if you make a nickel in my streets, I get paid. Understand!”
Before he could say anything, I took him by the collar and rammed him head first into a car. And then I did it again. His body crumbled to the ground and I stomped him against the pavement. When I pulled him up, his face was a bloody mess. I spun him around so everybody could see.
“This is what happens to dumb mutha fuckas like this nigga that wanna try me!”
I knew when I said it, that there would be a few niggas that would wanna try me. I was taking over André’s gambling and prostitution operations, so yeah, there were definitely gonna be a bunch of mutha fuckas that were gonna try me. I looked at Bobby, Nick and Jamaica and I knew that we could handle it.
In fact, they don’t know it, but it was Nick and Jamaica that gave me the idea to do this. One of the first things that I learned from André was to know everything that’s going on around me, and especially with the people that work for me. I thought that was good advice and I’ve lived by it ever since. Staying up on shit that you need to know, what a fuckin’ concept.
Anyway, when I heard that Nick and Jamaica were shaking down the gambling operators that weren’t kicking up what they should to André for his influence and protection, I saw an opportunity. The first thing I did was go around to all the gambling spots to check them out. Emmet was top of the list.
When me and Bobby walked into his joint, Emmet looked surprised and then scared; surprised that we were there and scared because he thought André sent us to hurt somebody, and it was most likely him. I could see the fear in his eyes; saw the way his jaw tightened. But when I nodded at him and then kept going toward the bar, it seemed to relax him a little.
I wasn’t there to hurt him; I was there to size him up, have a drink and do some gambling. I looked around at the working girls and knew I was definitely getting my jimmy waxed.
“Hey, Black,” one said as she passed.
“Yo, Baby, what’s up?”
“Who’s she?” Bobby said.
“I don’t know.” I stopped and watched her walk away. “And I’m not all that interested in finding out.”
“Ass like that … I might be.”
“Rail thin, flat chested, fat tute-booty; she got fuck me Bobby written all over her,” I said as we got to the bar and were met with two glasses of Rémy.
“Black, Bobby, what’s up?”
“What’s going on, Doc?”
“You must be getting an early start on your tip,” Bobby said and dropped a twenty on the bar.
“Always on that paper chase, Bobby, you know that. I got a young wife that likes to shop,” Doc came back.
“Leave the bottle,” I said as I put a fifty on the bar. “Anything I need to know about?”
Doc put his hand on the fifty. “Everything is quiet.”
“Busy night?” When I moved my hand, Doc quickly pocketed the fifty.
“’Bout average,” Doc said.
“Looks like a big night,” Bobby said. “All these hoes up in here; I know these niggas making paper.”
“How many hoes Emmet got working here now?”
“Ten,” Doc said proudly and that told me all I needed to know, but we stayed anyway.
“What about that one there?” Bobby asked and pointed as tute-booty stripped and started dancing.
“Who, Candy?”
“What’s up with her?”
“They tell me that she sucks dick like its candy.”
“Good to know,” Bobby said.
We had been there for a couple of hours gambling and fuckin’ around with the women, Bobby was talkin’ shit and we were both fucked up when this nigga starts wolfin’ some shit at Bobby about us cheating, which we were. But that wasn’t the point. He pulled his gun.
“You’re gonna give me back my money, nigga.”
Bobby looked at me, and out of respect, we both looked at Emmet. He extended his hand to let us know that he was cool with us dealing with this nigga. I discreetly put my hand on my gun and sat back.
Bobby leaned forward. “It’s right here. Come get it.”
“Pass it over.”
“Fuck that. You want this money come get it.”
With his gun still pointed at Bobby, he got up and came around the table slowly. When he did, the other men got up from the table.
“Show me your hands,” he said as he got closer to Bobby.
When Bobby brought his hands up from under the table, he saw the gun in Bobby’s hand and he stopped. Bobby held the gun up and put it on the table slowly. When he did, the man started walking again.
“Now, stand up and move away from the table.” Bobby stood up, but he didn’t move. The man gripped his gun tighter. “I said move away from the table!” he shouted and Bobby just laughed at him.
“No. What? You think you was just gonna walk over here and get it?” Bobby laughed. “You gotta come and take this shit from me, playboy.”
He was so focused on Bobby that he didn’t notice that I had gotten up and had worked my way behind him. When he raised his gun, I put mine to the back of his head.
“Your move.”
Bobby punched him in the face and then he picked up his gun and started beating the man in the face with it. They may call me Vicious Black, but fuckin’ Bobby’s the vicious one.
When Bobby had enough of beating him, he pulled him up. “Next time you think about calling a man a cheat, you think about this beatin’ you just begged me for.” Then he let him go. “And be happy I didn’t kill you.”
After that night, I was convinced that I was on to something, but I took my time and spent the next few months going around and checking out everything that I planned to take over. I took my time because I didn’t need the operators noticing and I damn sure didn’t want André to hear about it before I was ready to bring it to him.
/>
When I had seen all I needed to see, we made a plan on how we were going to do it. I knew who my allies were, who my enemies would be and I knew who I was going to have to kill. Once I had all that down, I went to André.
In addition to controlling just about all of the criminal activity uptown, André had an office at the real estate brokerage firm that he legitimately owned and his wife, Shawna, managed. I just happened to drop by at a time when I knew his partner, Ricky would be there and Benny and Dupree would be dropping off the protection money.
“I don’t want to hear no excuses, just tell me who came up short and who ain’t paid this time,” André said the second they walked in the room.
“Henderson and Dayton was short. Lamont said to give him a couple of days and we couldn’t find Simeon or Bodie.”
“You stay on finding those niggas. You hear what I’m sayin’?” André asked, and pointed at Benny and Dupree.
“Yes, sir.”
“Now get the fuck out my sight.” André shook his head and picked up his drink. “I don’t know which one is sorrier,” he said as soon as the door closed.
“My money is on Dupree,” Ricky said.
André took a sip. “If he wasn’t Shawna’s cousin, I’d shoot his sorry ass.”
I studied André’s face as he tore into the envelopes and counted the money. “Shit.”
“That bad?” Ricky asked.
“Bad enough. I may have to send you and Bobby around to see some of these niggas ’bout my money.”
“You oughta let me run all that for you,” I said.
“Making collections?” André shook his head and then he laughed. “That’s errand boy shit, I got bigger shit to use you and Bobby on than that.”
“Maybe he needs something else for The Kid he lets hang around do, other than picking up his dry-cleaning from Howard.” Ricky laughed, but André didn’t, so he stopped.
I don’t like Ricky; he was a yes man with money and muscle behind him. But him and André came up together, so I just ignore half the shit that comes out his mouth.
“The Kid ain’t ready for that; is he Mike?”
“No, he ain’t,” I said, even though Freeze was more than ready. “But that wasn’t what I was talking about.”
“Then what you talkin’ about?” André asked, as I stood up to fix myself a drink. “Make me one too.”
“I’m talkin’ about you letting me run all that other shit for you,” I said as I handed him a glass and sat down.
“You ain’t make me one?” Ricky asked.
“Didn’t know you wanted one.”
Ricky looked at me for a few seconds, I guess he was waiting to see if I was going to get up and fix his drink. I stared back at him like he was a fuckin’ fool and then I turned to André.
“I guarantee that I’ll double the money you’re making on the gambling, the women, and the extortion within a month.”
“How you planning on doing that?”
“You let me worry about that,” I said.
André looked at Ricky. “See this is the kind of shit I keep this mutha fucka around for,” and then he turned back to me. “Double my money, huh?”
“At least.”
“What you think, Ricky?”
“What you got to lose. If anybody can shake some more money out of them fuckers, it’s him and Bobby. I say let him go for it.”
André looked at me and then he drained his glass. “Let me talk to Mike alone.”
“I need to get back to my spot anyway. I’ll get with you tomorrow.” Ricky stood up and walked out.
André got up and went to the file cabinet where he kept his liquor. When he came back, he had the bottle. He refilled both of our glasses and put the bottle on the desk.
“Double my money on all that shit?”
I nodded my head.
“Okay, Mike, I’m gonna trust you with this, and I’ll tell you why.”
“I’m listening.”
“You always do. I’m gonna let you do this; one, because I know that there’s money still on the table from that shit and two, shiiit, I know you can do it.”
“I won’t disappoint you,” I said. I had too much respect for André to ever fail him in anything.
“I know you won’t, Mike; you never do.” He took a sip of his liquor. “I spend so much time concentrating on making this dope money that I don’t focus on all that other shit, so I know that even if you just stayed on top of it and tighten up on the ones who come up short and ain’t payin’, you’ll double my money. So I want more.”
“What’s that?”
“You triple my money and I’ll make you my partner in that. Seventy-thirty, my way,” André said and raised his glass.
“Deal,” I said and we drank to it.
“You need me to make some type of announcement, put the word out or something?”
I shook my head. “I can handle that myself. But when they come crying to you complaining about me—”
“I’ll tell them that they need to talk to you.”
“That’s all I need.”
Chapter Two
“Hi, Mike,” she said the second I opened my eyes.
She was lying on her side next to me with her hand on her head and I wondered if she slept that way.
“Hi,” I said, and tried to remember her name.
I knew who she was; she dances sometimes at André’s private spot in Ricky’s afterhours club. She says she has a real job, and she only dances there when she needs extra money. I’ve seen her in there a few times, but last night was the first time we talked.
André had left word that he wanted to talk to me and Bobby. He heard that we had gone to see Emmet that night and he wanted to know what happened. André laughed just about the entire time Bobby was telling him the story.
“That’s right, nigga; that’s how you do that shit. But you know that the word is gonna get around. But that’s what you want.” André laughed. “Emmet gonna tell everybody. He already called here a couple of times.”
“That’s why Emmet was first.”
“Smart. Now all the weak mutha fuckas will just roll over for you and you won’t have any problems with them. But the flip side of that tune is that the others, the ones that have muscle, they’re all gonna dig in.”
“We got this,” Bobby told him. “You know old Vicious Black there got a plan.”
I hate it when Bobby calls me that. I hate being called Vicious Black, like I’m some kind of fuckin’ animal, but it’s just worst when Bobby does it. But it works to my advantage sometimes, so fuck it. I did have a plan. I had the whole thing planned out to the last detail. I read somewhere that if you don’t have a plan, then you plan to fail. I wasn’t ever planning on failing at anything.
We left André’s office and we were about to leave when she caught my eye. She was dancing off in a corner for some guy and he was dropping money at her feet. “I’ll catch up with you later,” I told Bobby as I watched her.
He looked to see what I was looking at. “Short, big titties, fat ass, she got fuck me Mike written all over her. I’ll get with you tomorrow,” Bobby said, and left as I walked up on her.
What got my attention, other than the fact that she was fine as hell, was that she wasn’t letting him touch her. Either she’d dance away like any good seductress, or she’d move his hands when he did. There was something different about her, and that piqued my interest.
“This a private show,” he shouted over the music when I got closer. “Oh … I’m sorry Black.”
She stopped dancing and turned around. “Hi, Mike,” she said, and waved. “You want me to dance for you?”
“Maybe some other time … when you’re not busy.”
“I’m done dancing for him because he doesn’t know how to do what he’s told,” she said, and started picking up her money.
“Fuck you mean you done? Much money as I just dropped,” he shouted at her. I leaned forward and he sat back in his seat. “Uh … I’m sorr
y Black.”
“I’m all yours,” she said when she finished picking up her money. “Where you wanna go?”
“Outta here.”
She started putting her clothes on where she stood. I’m talking real clothes, not no cheesy stripper outfit.
“You ain’t said nothing but a word. I didn’t want to be up in here anyway.”
But here you are, I thought but didn’t say. “You ready?”
She put on her dress and spun around. “Zip me and we can go.”
We left there, went around to a couple of spots, and had drinks before we ended up back here. We drank some Rémy, smoked a couple of bobs, and we talked. She’s smart, so I liked talking to her. And then she came out of that dress, danced for me, and the next thing you know, I got her bent over the couch.
“Did you sleep in that position?”
“No,” she said quickly and with conviction and then she looked insulted. Then the look on her pretty face softened. “Well … kinda,” she said and giggled.
I laughed with her. “I won’t tell nobody.”
She moved closer, reached between my legs and began to stroke me. “I know just how to position my head so I don’t mess my hair up while I sleep.”
I had to admit, her hair did look nice, but— “It sounds uncomfortable.”
One second later than the second it was hard, she got on top, rubbed my dick up and down her lips a few times before she slid her body down on it.
I closed my eyes and enjoyed the feeling as she put her hands on my chest and rode me slowly. I massaged her soft thighs and she grinded that wet pussy into me, side to side, up and down and in circles until her mouth opened and her eyes rolled back in her head and I could feel her tightening around me.
When she jerked and then collapsed on my chest, I arched my back and pushed it in her as hard and deep as I could until she rolled off me and retreated into the fetal position.
“Don’t touch me.”
After a while, I eased up behind her and slid back inside her. I long dicked her slowly until she began to push back against me. When she did, I reached for her shoulders and I slammed it in her.
