Darcy's Trial

by M. A. Sandiford
At the turn of the 19th century, most prosecutions were brought privately, by victims or their families. Duelling, although illegal, was still practised, and there are records of trials in which duellists were prosecuted for murder. I have tried to ensure that historical references and everyday details conform to the period, and apologise for the errors or implausibilities that doubtless remain.
