“Our kingdom, love.” He kissed my lips, then my eyes, the tip of my nose and my jaw, his warm breath caressing my skin. “Half mine, half yours.”

Remembering his marriage proposal, I said, “As much as I love you, and I do, I really, really do, I’m not ready to get married again.” Not anytime soon, anyway.

“I understand. But that won’t stop me from trying to win you over...and it won’t negate the romance tax you owe me.”

I laughed, and he joined in. “Romance tax, hmm?”

“For payment, you must declare your love for me every day for the rest of your life.”

“Wow. Since when did you become so easy to please?”

“Since I met you and gained everything I’ve ever wanted.”

I melted. This boy...oh, this boy!

He pressed another kiss onto my lips, and I sighed into his mouth, content. We had lived through the prophecy, and though another fight loomed, a happily-ever-after awaited us. Right?

Yes, yes. Of course. We had entered uncharted waters, that was all. I had no guidebook for the future, no idea what would happen next. But with Roth at my side, I knew we were going to have a wild ride.

I couldn’t wait. I was ready. Bring it on.

After I’d gotten more of true love’s kiss, of course.
