“Oh, that’s good,” Ellie said. “Joanna will be a much better boss than Tim was. I’m sure Ethan will enjoy working for her, and I’m sure he’ll do a great job.”
“It sounds like everyone got their happy endings. Well, except for Mrs. Garcia and Tim, of course. And Rosa, but I think it’s a mixed basket for her. She’ll miss her mother, but she really does have a whole new world in front of her. I think she can make something out of that restaurant. The food was pretty amazing. It will take a bit of work, but I think she’ll be fine.”
Ellie reached into the plastic jack-o’-lantern that Shannon had brought with them for the few houses they decided to trick-or-treat at with Andrew and pulled out a piece of candy, unwrapping it and popping it into her mouth. It had been an eventful holiday, and she didn’t think she would be going into any haunted houses anytime soon, but things were looking up. With Nonna going back to Florida soon, Christmas right around the corner, and then New Year’s after that, it was going to be a busy couple of months, but she was ready for whatever the future could throw at her.
