She swallowed back her excitement and steadied her hands. “There now, it looks pretty.” She patted Sammie’s head.
Sammie reached up and touched the bow. “Thank you. . .Mom,” she grinned a toothless grin, now that both front teeth had fallen out.
Macy looked at Scott and he winked. “We’ve been talking about what she should call you. She wants it to be Mom. She says it is your Christmas present from her.”
Macy leaned down and hugged her, not caring if she squashed the bow she had just tied. “I love you Sammie,” she whispered in the girl’s ear.
Sammie hugged back a little tighter. “I love you, too, Mom.”
