“Son of a bitch,” Jack exclaimed, speeding down the deserted road.

The sun was getting low in the sky and darkness was approaching. Being out in the dark in a world run by zombies was asking for trouble. The gang needed to find a place for the night.
They have been driving around for hours looking for other survivors and a way to make it across to Nebraska without any luck. Jack turned into a parking of a two story apartment building that was half lit. He figured they could break in and hopefully scavenge food and whatever else they could find. They got out of the car.
Jack ducked as a bullet pinged by his head and ricocheted off the truck. The other two, Jane and Dave, hit the floor covering their heads next to Jack.
“What the hell?!” cried Jack.
“Oh, sorry I missed. I meant to hit you. The caffeine I had is making so jittery that it’s messing up my aim. Stay there while I try again,” a voice shouted from above.
Jack looked up to see a guy with a rifle reloading.
“Why are you shooting at us?” asked Jane.
“This is our base. We ain’t got more room or supplies for you or anyone else here. Hit the road before I put a hole in you’s,” said the man as he position himself for another shot. Jack saw this and brought up his shotgun and fired a warning shot.
“Get in the truck,” he told the other two as he scrambled around the truck to the driver side. He hit the pedal hard to make as much distance between them and the crazy guy that was shooting at them.
Jane turned to Jack.
“Is he stupid? All that noise is going to attract the zombies.”
Jack hit the breaks when they got clear of rifleman. Grabbing his shotgun, he jumped out of the truck.
“dude, warn me next time,” Dave complained.
“Jack, what are you doing?” asked Jane. She climbed out.
“I’m gonna shoot the power lines.”
“Why?”
“Because he shot at us.”
“Jack, it’s not right,” Jane said.
“Yeah, bro. It’s not right,” Dave added as he climbed out of the truck bed and stood next to Jane.
“Neither was shooting at us, but he did. He didn’t even warned us ‘till after he fired.”
“Two wrongs don’t make a right,” said Jane.
Jack lowered the gun.
“Who are you anyways?” Jack turned to Dave.
“I’m Dave, Dave Salman. Who are you guys?”
“I’m Jack Johnson.”
“And I’m… I’m…” Jane dropped to her knees.
“You OK?” asked Dave.
She collapsed and passed out.
