What Piper Needs

Piper shook her head. “No. Why would I know about that? What size was it anyway?”

“I have no idea, but I’m told they were small.”

“Sorry I can’t be of more help. Was anyone else here? Maybe they saw something?” Piper had been trying to get him to spill some details, but so far he wasn’t biting. “Or maybe the cameras picked up something?”

“We’ve already examined the footage. It shows you, an unknown male, and”—he cleared his throat—“another female we can’t identify.”

Piper’s eyebrows shot up. “Why can’t you identify them?”

Larry rearranged a few things around his desk before he answered. “He had on a ball cap, and she was wearing a mask. And the doors were left unlocked all night.”

“A mask?” Piper could barely contain her glee. What were the chances a masked woman would be here the night she chose to be naughty at the office?

  Larry looked visibly ill. “Yes.”

Piper leaned in. “The masked woman is obviously your culprit. But riddle me this, why is it such a big deal anyway? We’re a progressive ad agency, and sex in the workplace happens all the time. In fact, I’ve heard from numerous twentysomethings lately it’s all the rage. I don’t get all the drama.”

“If I tell you something, do you promise to keep it quiet?” Larry said conspiratorially. “Piper, you’ve been a loyal employee for many years now, but I don’t want this information leaving this office.”

“Of course. You know you can trust me.” Piper nearly vibrated out of her seat wondering how soon she would be able to tell Caroline.

“We think an individual, or individuals, have been”—he cleared his throat—“hiring high-end prostitutes and bringing them here. Either that, or one of our employees runs an escort business on the side. This is not the first time the cameras have recorded a woman in a mask coming in and out of the office. The police are involved now, and whoever it is will be found out. They could serve jail time if they’re committing a crime. They will most certainly be fired.”

“No way,” Piper breathed as she sat back. “That’s crazy! But I don’t understand why anyone would bring escorts here. I mean, this isn’t exactly a five-star hotel. Are there bedrooms tucked away somewhere I don’t know about?”

Larry shrugged. “Why does anyone do anything? And no, there are no bedrooms here. The speculation is they come here for interviews or to drop off money. Who knows?”

“Well, I was in my office working,” Piper reiterated. “I had the door closed, and I didn’t hear or see anyone. But now I wish I had.”

Larry picked up some paperwork. “I’m sure we’ll resolve this sooner or later. I appreciate you coming in to talk to me. Until we figure this out, we’re hiring a guard to sit outside our doors after hours. We’re also getting new locks and issuing key-coded security cards as soon as Monday morning. That way we’ll know exactly who’s coming in and out.”

Michael had nothing but smiles for everyone when he arrived back at the office after his movie-theater excursion with Piper. He felt rejuvenated.

His main phone line rang, and he plucked it up. “Hello. Michael Collins.”

“Hey, you sexy beast,” Piper purred. “I had a great time today. I’m still reeling from it all. Well done, Mikey.”

“That’s the best lunch we’ve ever had, not counting you under my desk.” He chuckled, reclining in his chair.

“I have to run to a meeting, but I wanted to give you a quick call. You’re not going to believe what Larry told me today!”

Michael could hear the excitement in her voice. “Yeah, what did he say?”

“I can’t tell you all the details right now. It’s top secret. But I’m totally exonerated, so I didn’t want you to worry.”

“That’s great to hear,” he replied. “Now I’m dying to know.”

“Did you make any plans for us tonight? Because I asked Gillian to lunch next week, but she can’t break free from work. She just texted me that she could do an early happy hour tonight if it works, however. But since it’s Friday, I wanted to check with you before I said yes.”

“Gillian?” They hadn’t seen Brad and Gillian in a long time. “As in the Harrisons? That Gillian?”

“One and the same. And, yeah, I don’t want to burst your bubble, but it’s not anything sexy or top-ten related. I just wanted to catch up with her. Caroline and I are actually thinking of asking her and Emma to join our Thursday-night therapy group.”

“I didn’t make any plans for tonight, so go ahead,” he told her. “I wonder what Brad is up to these days.”

“I have no idea. I’ll ask Gillian. If he’s home, maybe we can try to make it a foursome? I’ll get back to you later.”

“Sounds good. Don’t forget, you’re on the docket next,” he reminded her, grinning like a teenager. “I’m looking forward to seeing what you’ve got.”

“I ordered it yesterday, express shipping. Should be here by tomorrow.” Her voice was filled with insinuation. “That’s all the hint you’re getting.”

  “Ordered?” Michael’s mind raced.

“Yep, and it’s going to be a blast.” She laughed. “Gotta run. Love you.”

  Piper hung up.

It was only three hours until quitting time. Michael was looking forward to the weekend with Piper, but now that he was free tonight, he had an idea. Something he’d been wanting to do for a while. He picked up the phone and dialed Jace Stratton’s work number.

He answered on the second ring. “Jason Stratton.”

  “Hey, it’s Michael.”

  “How’s it going?”

“It’s going great. I’m calling about your tools. You know how you always offer to lend them to me? Well, I want to take you up on it. Piper’s going out tonight, so I decided I’m finally going to install the flat-screen TV I bought a year ago on the bedroom wall.” It’d been on Michael’s to-do list for much too long.

“Are you sure you can handle that alone?” Jace chuckled. “The last time I saw you do any kind of home improvement project, your basement ended up with a foot of sitting water.”

  “How hard can it be?”

“It’s not that hard if you have the right equipment. I can come over later and give you a hand. Do you have everything you need?”

Michael hadn’t thought of exactly what he’d need. “No, but my plan is to swing by the hardware store on my way home.”

“I think your walls are plaster like ours, so ask the guy about anchors. Lath isn’t good at holding things up. Hit the hardware store on Emerson. They have great guys in there to help you and should have everything you need.”

“Sounds good. I’ll probably duck out of here in an hour.”

“Caroline is going to a neighborhood book club thing tonight, so I’ll be over around seven,” Jace said.

  “Thanks, I appreciate the help.”

Michael hung up. Then he buzzed his administrative assistant. “Brandi, I’m taking off in about an hour.”

  No answer.

That meant she wasn’t at her desk. She must still be up in the library.

After about a half hour, Michael was restless, so he gathered his things and headed out into the main part of the office, where most of the administrative assistants sat. Brandi still wasn’t at her desk. So he decided to go up and let her know he was taking off. Otherwise, she’d wonder why he’d gone home so early.

He pushed the elevator button, and when the doors opened, Beth was standing inside. She smiled widely at him. “Hi there.”

“Hello,” he said as he got on.

Beth was wearing a low-cut top that accentuated her chest. Now that he knew she was into the lifestyle, it was a wonder he hadn’t noticed her before. It must be her hairstyle. She wore it up in a conservative bun most of the time.

“Going up to the library?” she asked as the doors closed.

“Yep, I decided to head out early. I’m going to find Brandi and let her know.”

Beth nodded. As Michael glanced at her, he noticed she wasn’t wearing any makeup. He was curious why she kept such a low profile.

She cleared her throat as he stared at her. “Um, we’re having a party in a few weeks at the…place I told you about. If you’re interested, I can give you more details.”

“What kind of party?” he asked.

“It’s kind of an annual introduction thing where members invite in new people. It would be a great time for you and your wife to visit.”

“Visit, huh?” The doors pinged open. When he exited he wasn’t too surprised when Beth followed.

The doors shut behind them. There was no one else there.

“You can definitely just visit,” she said coyly. “But I promise you won’t want to.”

“It’s that hot, huh?” he asked quietly.

  “Yes.”

“I’ll call you next week. I’m not sure if Piper will be into it or not, but I’ll let you know either way.” Michael didn’t want to freak out his wife by surprising her with an orgy, but seeing one in real life was up there on his list of things he wanted to experience.

“Call the number on the card, after business hours so I can chat,” Beth said. Then she surprised him by sliding one hand up to cup her breast.

Michael’s eyebrows hit his hairline as he glanced around to make sure no one else was nearby. They were alone in the vestibule, right in front of the door to the library. Beth’s fingers circled her erect nipple, poking through the fabric, before she brought her hand to her mouth and licked a single finger.

Michael had to clear his throat to get his next words out. “I’m sorry, Beth. If you’re hoping for some action with me, it’s not going to happen.” The only images racing through his mind right now were of Piper in the movie theater rocking on his cock. He’d give anything to be back there right now, experiencing it all over again.

“Oh, no. That’s not what I want,” she said, her eyes sparkling. “I want your wife.”

“Holy sex crimes, Batman!” Caroline semishrieked on the other end of the phone when Piper got done unloading her story. “Thank goodness you did your stuff before this all blew up. You could’ve gone in there and been seen by a guard, or worse!”

Piper was sitting at a bar downtown, waiting for Gillian to show, but she hadn’t wanted to wait to tell Caroline about the masked intruder, so she’d ordered a drink and called her bestie. “If I’d seen a guard, I wouldn’t have gone through with it. That would’ve definitely put a damper on the evening. But can you believe what Larry said? An escort service? I’m dying!”

“I so wish I was meeting you guys for drinks instead of going to this neighborhood book club. How did I get roped into this again? I’m not a book-clubber at heart. I’m really not.”

“You’re too nice, that’s why,” Piper told her. “I warned you to stay away from Helen. She’ll drag you into anything. I did my time years ago. No more. Oh, I have to go, Gillian just walked in.”

“Have fun. Can’t wait to hear the details!” Caroline said.

“I’ll see you later.” Piper clicked off. “Hi there.” She got up to greet her friend. “It’s been a long time.”

They embraced for a quick hug. Gillian was taller than Piper by a good two inches.

“It’s been much too long, my friend,” Gillian said as she sat down, flicking her jet-black hair out of her eyes. Her hairstyle was a little longer than Piper had seen it before, but still short in back, longer on top. Gillian looked like a high-fashion model. She was tall and thin and had striking features, emphasized with black eyeliner and bold eye shadow. Gillian was a tattoo artist, and she fit the bill. Piper noticed she had new ink on her arm. Her tattoos were stylish, but never overdone. And they fit her personality to a T. “So how the fuck have you been?”

Piper laughed. Oh, yes, she’d missed Gillian.

Gillian plucked up a menu. They were at O’Gara’s, an Irish pub within walking distance of Piper’s office. “I’ve been great,” Piper said. “I’m glad you could make it.”

“I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. You and Michael disappeared from the scene, so I had to come and find out what’s up. We’ve missed you guys. We don’t click with many folks.”

“Yeah, we did kind of drop out,” Piper said. “It wasn’t exactly a conscious decision. We sort of stopped setting up dates, so it stopped happening. But, honestly, it was time. We needed to figure out how to be happy on our own, and so far so good.”

Gillian nodded. “That happens to the best of us.” The waitress came up, and Gillian said, “I’ll have a Guinness.”

Once the waitress left, Piper asked, “So where’s Brad tonight?” Piper had texted Gillian to ask about all four of them meeting up, but Gillian had said Brad had prior plans.

She leaned over the table, grinning. “He’s at your house.”

“What?” That was the last thing Piper had expected to come out of her mouth. Michael hadn’t said a word about it! When she’d called him just before she’d left for the bar, he’d told her he’d made plans with “a couple of guys.” She figured they were from work. “My house? What in the world?”

“Yep.” Gillian snickered. “Seems your hubby needed help with a project of some sort. And if anything, my man is handy with a screw gun and a wrench. Actually, there’s not a tool he can’t wield.” She arched her brow. Piper could see the mark where she used to have a piercing above her left eye. “But he’s even more talented with a whip and crop, if I do say so myself.”

“Michael told me nothing, except that he’d found something to do,” Piper said. “Well, then, we can go back to my place together and meet up with the guys.”

“I can’t. I have other plans after this tonight.”

“Where are you going?” Piper asked.

“I’m actually checking out a new venue for the parties I’m starting to host.”

  “What kind of parties?”

“The sex kind, of course.” Gillian laughed. It sounded like bells tinkling. Sweet on the outside, tough as nails on the inside. “But these get-togethers are a little more hard-core than you like, or I’d totally invite you.” The waitress set down Gillian’s beer. “Thanks.”

“Don’t count me out just yet.” Piper picked up her martini. “Michael and I are doing some rediscovering. We’ve made a sexy top-ten list.” She took a sip of her drink and set her glass down. “I actually put orgies on the list, if you can believe it. But I’ll likely chicken out.” She raised her eyebrows. “But if I don’t, I’m going to need some guidance. I have no idea how one finds orgies around here. You and Emma are my only connections.”

“Well, I can certainly hook you up with that kind of information if you need it.” Gillian propped her hand under her chin. “The parties I host aren’t typical orgies. They’re more organized and less fluid, and of course, they’re heavily centered around the BDSM lifestyle. You definitely don’t want to start there. Where you need to start is the Underground, then work your way up to me.” Gillian grinned.

  “What’s the Underground?” Piper asked.

“It’s fairly new, but it’s the only organized orgy I know about. Before them, it was just groups of people here and there getting together. But from what I’ve heard, the Underground runs a tight ship. Not a lot of gossip gets out. It’s supposed to be pretty hot. White-collar, professional, so lots of beautiful, successful people doing a lot of fucking.”

“Honestly, the thought of attending an orgy makes me a little anxious,” Piper admitted. “But I’m ready to try and put myself out there again. My therapist would be so proud. I’ve recently figured out that my sexy trigger is adrenaline. And an orgy, at least once, would feed into that perfectly—in fact, just talking about it is getting me going. Plus, I know Michael would be totally into it.”

“You have to be careful when it comes to orgies,” Gillian warned. “They get you so
horned up, you can’t think straight. You go in thinking one thing, and then come out having done a dozen things you weren’t expecting. That’s what orgies are there for, though, to embrace the unexpected. Your adrenaline will definitely be pumping. I’ve gone to a few small ones in my time and have always enjoyed them.” She took a sip of her beer. “The biggest thing is, you have to be okay with surprising yourself sexually, which I know you are.” She winked. “I’m sure you’ll have fun.”

“I’ll keep that in mind,” Piper said. “Do you have any more specific details about the Underground? If I decide to bring Michael as one of my top ten, I’m going to need more info.”

“I don’t have any gritty details handy, but I’m sure I can get them for you. What I’ve heard is it started with about a dozen couples a year and a half ago, or thereabouts. Brad and I have actually been invited several times, but we’ve never taken them up on it. As you know, I like things a little harder. There’s a fee to join if you become a regular member. It’s pretty steep, from what I’ve heard. But that’s how they keep the place nice. I’ll see what else I can dig up when I get home.”

“Thanks, I appreciate that. And I know you like it harder.” Piper got chills remembering the few times she and Michael had been with Gillian and Brad. It’d been breathtaking to watch. The control had been unreal. “Your kind of sex is an art form. I’m no expert, but I wouldn’t consider what you do to be true BDSM, is it?”

“No, it’s not. Brad and I are definitely hybrids.” She took another drink of her beer, while Piper plucked a cherry out of hers and ate it. “We’re under the umbrella of BDSM because I like my sex controlled and precise. That’s what turns me on. But make me hurt too much or bleed, and I’ll give you a black eye.” She leaned forward as the waitress passed by and whispered, “That’s why I’m hosting these new gatherings. My place, my rules.”

Piper whispered back, “I think the new adventurous me might like your parties.” She raised her glass in a toast. “Damn, it’s so great to see you. I’m hoping for much more girl time in our future.”
