Once Slinger was all bandaged up Bones went in search of Wisha. He found her by the fire pit with a bottle of his beer and her high ball of bourbon. She smiled at him and passed him the beer. She was sitting in Smokes big Adirondack chair so he slid under her so she was on his lap and he could hold her. Today had scared him more than anything ever had and being part of an MC he’d been through a lot.
“ Angel I almost lost it out there today. I live and breathe for you and I don’t think anyone could have stopped me If you’d been hurt.” She knew he wasn’t lying, Bones would have gone all full metal jacket on everyone and everything if that bullet had hit her. She never even saw the shooter aiming for her, but Slinger had and he pushed her down and took it without thinking twice.
“I know, and that’s part of the reason I’m going to quit when this is over. I’m aware your life with the MC is dangerous at times but I want a family, you know like kids and all that. It’s better if only one of us is getting shot at.” Wisha kind of half laughed but she meant what she said. Once the remaining three were either behind bars or in the ground she was turning in her badge. A life with Bones was all she really wanted.
Smoke wandered out to have a word with Bones, he knew his friend was on the verge of a nervous breakdown and needed some time. “I need you to do something for me man, and I’m not asking. It’s an executive decision, I’m still the President and no matter what is going on you do need to follow my orders.”
Bones knew whatever it was he wasn’t going to like it, but he was going to do it. Smoke was right, he was the President and if he issued an order it wasn’t to be questioned.
“Pack up for at least a week, both of you and head north.” Smoke issued his order. “I’ve already handled the Captain, he’s aware of what happened and is on board with her being out of harm’s way until we get these assholes. Don’t fight me on this, just do it.”
Wisha knew this was going to stick in Bones’ craw, but there weren’t any options. They were going to the cabin again.
Cabin In The Woods
The couple made the five hour drive north to Smokes cabin, Wisha knew Bones was less than thrilled being sidelined but for her it wasn’t a bad thing. They would get to spend some alone time together, the fact that nobody was shooting at them would be a refreshing change. The ride was spent talking about her childhood and how abusive her father was. How many times her mother had been used as a punching bag and all the times her and her sister would hide from him when he was on his drunken rampages.
Bones just couldn’t comprehend going after a woman in anger, especially not your wife and children. His old man was an asshole, but a completely different kind of asshole. He was never once physically abusive, no his came in the form of emotional abuse. Nothing was ever good enough for Cesar Canfield, not even when Bones got a free ride to medical school and graduated with honors. His father was never happy with him, not even once and when Bones met Smoke he knew. He just knew, he had found a home and a family with the Devil’s. He accepted the fact his father was never going to be proud of him so he found a way to be proud of himself.
Bones shared with Wisha the night he and Smoke met, not long after Smoke had come back to this side of the border and how messed up his Pops was.
“Pops was a hot mess. He was so doped up he wasn’t running anything, the MC was in the toilet.” Pretty much the inmates were running the asylum and how Smoke took over even though he was only a new patch at the time. He even told her of the day Smoke called him after finding his Pops on the kitchen floor missing half his head.
“He’s a good President, now I may not always agree with his decisions but I’ll always follow the orders. He’s my brother, my President and most importantly; my friend.”
The comradery these men had was nothing short of astounding. She hadn’t even had that in the department in the beginning of her career. It had been every man for himself and that wasn’t how she thought it should be. That was the start of her voicing her opinion and probably her downfall.
Before the cabin they stopped at the market in town to pick up some essentials like beer, bourbon and some food items. They had been the last ones up there and he couldn’t remember what was left in the cupboards. He knew nothing was in the fridge. They would eat dinner at the Red Barn but breakfast and lunches would be made there so food was more important than booze. Bones knew his brother well enough to know there was a stash of bourbon and more than likely several cases of beer.
While Bones and Wisha picked up some groceries he told her about his lack of cooking skills and the day he and Smoke learned how to make pies. He didn’t expect the amount of laughter coming from his fiancée, but she couldn’t contain it. She was laughing so hard the tears started and soon Bones was
laughing too.
“So,” she said trying to reel herself in. “I’ll be doing the cooking unless we’re having pie for dinner then. Right?” She was fairly certain she was right and his smile just confirmed it.
The Red Barn wasn’t crowded for a Saturday night even though Bones Half expected it to be. They ate and talked about so many different things, mostly the discussion was on finishing the job she had originally asked them to do. He told her she was part of the family now and wouldn’t owe anything. Rules were different when family was involved.
“You wanna play?” He said motioning to the pool tables. Wisha just chuckled, Bones didn’t really want to play with her but she agreed anyway.
By the third game Bones knew he was being taken. She was running the table and giggling about it. “Woman where the fuck did you learn how to play like that? You just handed my ass to me on a platter.”
She was laughing, Wisha was good at pool. Better than good, she was a master at the game. She and her sister had walked past a pool hall on their way home from school every day, and most days she would watch through the windows. One day an older man asked if she wanted to learn how and after watching for so long she really did want to learn. Unbeknownst to Wisha the man that offered to teach her was Eddie Parker, otherwise known as Fast Eddie Felson; the man they made the movie ‘The Hustler’ about.
“Youre shitting me Angel, Fast fucking Eddie! That’s insane!” Some days it was even insane to her that she learned the game from a legend, but to Wisha he was just Uncle Eddie. For many years she had no idea who he really was. Eddie was just a sweet old man that took a liking to her and showed her the ins and outs of playing pool. She wasn’t sure anyone in the pool hall knew who he really was, to her he would always be uncle Eddie.
Smoke and the brothers were going full throttle to catch the prey they’d set traps for. Jace Morrison had done his
undercover job well and two out of the remaining three had been arrested. The last one was the brains behind everything, his name was Detective Jesse Connors and from what Intel they had gathered on him he was quite the son of a bitch. Jace had never liked him but after hearing how many bodies were attached him Jace and even the MC had nothing but utter disgust for him.
The two that had been arrested decided to lawyer up and not talk, making things more difficult but not impossible. The way Smoke saw it nothing was impossible, so they just had to follow what information they had. Now that the department was involved things were a bit easier. The vice squad had been
disbanded temporarily, and cases
reassigned until they had investigated everyone.
The Prospect was an ace with
gathering Intel so Rory had been given the task of following any lead he came across and Jace was helping any way he could. Captain Kennedy wasn’t thrilled about Jace working outside the department but when Smoke explained why he relaxed just slightly.
With the MC going hot and heavy Bones and Wisha could concentrate on being a couple, spending hours talking and taking walks along the creek holding hands and making out. They shared cooking and laughed about everything. Their nights were spent in each other’s arms making love and experimenting. Bones was such a sexual man Wisha ha
d discovered so many new sensations and everything took her to the abyss. He knew every inch of her body and just how to touch her so she would quiver and moan.
This was so much more than physical, it was intimacy on a level she never experienced or expected. He had even asked to shave her, she hesitated before giving in and that was an experience like no other. He started with her legs, carefully working each one before he made his way to the most sensitive area; her vagina. In between gentle swipes of the razor he would brush his fingers over her slick, soapy clit making her shudder. He was building anticipation and she knew it but it felt so good Wisha didn’t care.
Once she was smooth and rinsed, Bones knelt down in front of her. His mouth took over and between the licks and nipping on her clit, she was hanging by a thread. He liked when she watched him love her, so when his left hand began to slowly stroke himself Bones had her so worked up the orgasm hit hard, she would have lost her footing had he not been hanging on to her.
Bones had her pinned against the shower wall and lifted her up so he could sink himself inside her. Wisha let out a gasp as he filled her.
“Damn Angel, you feel so fucking good.” And he meant it, he had been with numerous women in his time but not one of them could compare with her.
This wasn’t sex, it was the merging of souls every time they came together like this and Bones knew it would always feel like this. She was his in every way and he was hers. Bones would never look at another woman the way he looked at Wisha.
As he thrust himself as deep as he could she whimpered against his neck and her body started to shudder once again. He knew she was on the edge and it wouldn’t be long before she tumbled over, Bones was right there too. With each push he grew harder, thicker and he bit the inside of his cheek to keep himself from going before her. Wisha would always come first, Bones wouldn’t let go until he felt her clamp down on him, that’s the way it should be, the way it would always be with them.
The second her head fell back he knew he could stop fighting and let himself go. Hearing her struggling for breath in between shouting his name caused him to grunt louder than his normal and spit out words he had in his head.
“Fuck! God dammit Angel, yes baby that’s it. Oh Angel!” he said gazing into her stare. Wisha stared back and said
something she hadn’t spoken aloud.
“I love you Zeke Canfield, I always will.”
The Last To Go
Bones had been called by Smoke, giving him the low down on how things were going and that they were still missing the ringleader. No one had seen him since the arrest, and with his resources they didn’t expect to. Smoke had a feeling he was south of the border, with everything going on that would be the smart move. Jesse Connors was probably sipping something fruity on a beach in Mexico without a care in the world.
Bones and Wisha had been given the go ahead to come back down the mountain and Smoke assumed he would be coming fast. The President was shocked to hear Bones say they were staying a few more days and he enjoyed having her all to himself. That made Smoke smile and remember having Peyton all to himself and enjoying every second of it. Not that he regretted having a family, not even close. He just liked getting his wife all to himself once in a while.
Bones made the suggestion of
spending the last two days they had alone completely naked and Wisha
wholeheartedly agreed. Nothing sounded better than her sexy man totally naked. Wisha had spent hours staring at him while he slept and every inch of him was a masterpiece. She had asked about his tattoos and he explained every one of them to her. He showed her his favorite and asked her which she liked best.
Wisha loved the Celtic Cross on his back that stretched shoulder to shoulder and most of the way to his waist. It was a beautiful piece of artwork and Bones told her Slinger did all his tats and that was Slinger’s favorite too.
When they finally left the cabin and headed for home the new couple had cemented their relationship and were inseparable, the topic had moved to when they should get married and what kind of wedding they should have. Wisha didn’t really care, as long as she and Bones said their vows it really didn’t make any difference. The two had talked nonstop almost the entire ride down so when a truck came up on them neither thought much of it until a bullet blew out the rear window.
“Get down!” Bones screamed as he shoved Wisha to the floor. The blacked out pick up rammed the rear of Bones truck causing him to almost lose control. His arm had healed but was still slightly weaker and he was struggling to keep on the road.
“Shoot Angel! Fire at the fuckers! And be careful!” Wisha popped up and emptied her mag as Bones fumbled for his phone. He was trying to call for help but staying on the asphalt seemed more important so he left it on the seat and put his foot to the floor. They were less than thirty minutes from the clubhouse and if he could just get there he would have backup.
The truck slammed once more into the back, successfully sending Bones
careening off into the desert brush. The giant saguaro is the only thing that prevented them from winding up five hundred feet off a cliff. Wisha was
bleeding from the head but still able to shoot back and Bones was doing his best to get to the floorboard up from under her. It held his safety compartment full of ammunition and extra weaponry.
“Christ Zeke! What we’re you
expecting?” She shouted over the gunfire when she saw the amount of bullets and guns hidden. Bones had learned from the very best, Smoke always said be prepared and this was one instance he was glad his President was a paranoid son of a bitch.
“Just find the phone, I’ll keep them at bay. We need Smoke!” Bones let Wisha figure out where his phone went as he fired through what used to be the back window of his old Dodge.
The shooter met him bullet for bullet as shell casings flew. Somehow Wisha found the phone and hit call, using the speaker so she could help Bones. When Smoke answered, she didn’t hear anything but: “What’s the closest mile marker?”
Wisha had no clue so she did the best she could telling him they were off the road and had hit a cactus and just find them.
“Stay alive god dammit, were coming brother!” As the line went dead Bones sent up a silent prayer that they would find them before they ran out of ammo.
Smoke rounded up everyone and pulled his old Chevy truck from the garage, the one that had the fifty caliber mounted in the bed. It was less than ten minutes from the emergency phone-call and they were flying down the highway. Renegade in the back of Smokes truck to man the
machine-gun and Slinger in the cab as lookout.
They were hoping Wisha was right about how far out they were because there was hundreds of miles of desert and Smoke was aware of the fact that finding a place to hide was nearly impossible out there.
He hoped Bones had taken his advice and made an ammo box in the floorboard. Smoke had one in every vehicle he owned. There was even one in Peyton’s brand new Chevy, he may be paranoid but he wasn’t dumb. He had lead this life way too long to not be over cautious. He had even gone as far as buying his wife a four shot Derringer that slid nicely into the baby’s diaper bag.
They drove looking for any sign of Bones and not seeing anything. Miles of nothing intertwined with cactus and brush. They had to be further away than first thought.
“Fuck! Where the fuck are you god dammit!” Smoke wasn’t looking for an answer and none was given.
Slinger had been with him a long time and knew when his President was pissed it was just better to let him yell. They were all aware and Rory was learning that lesson fairly quickly too. The Prospect was in the truck bed with Renegade and both men were smirking. Sometimes it was funny when Smoke was mad, other times it was downright scary. This was right between the two.
It took another ten miles down the highway before they heard gun fire. Then Slinger spotted a truck in the dirt and another buried in a saguaro. It was Bones and whoever was doing the shooting changed directions and beg
an to fire at Smoke.
It took less than two minutes to be up on them and the shooter threw his vehicle in reverse, spotting the fifty-cal aimed right at them and speeding off backwards down the road. Smoke wanted to pursue but he had to lend aid to his brother. He had no idea if anyone was hurt and that took priority at this point. Finding the asshole that tried to kill his club mate would wait.
As Bones and Wisha fell from the truck Smoke saw her bloody face and knew he made the right decision. She was hurt and until Bones had time to check her over and find where she was bleeding from and how bad it was; everything else would wait.
“Thanks Prez,” Bones stumbled, pretty much falling into Smoke and breathing heavy. His adrenaline was still rushing but he wanted to make sure his
President understood how he felt.
“Of course brother, what the fuck happened out here? When did you pick up the shooter and did you see him? Was it Jesse?” Neither one had seen anything aside from glass and bullets flying. It was more imperative to keep down and shoot back. Bones had a gut feeling it was the missing cop but without evidence he couldn’t say for sure. This was really starting to piss him off.
“ Fucker kept the visor down and between that, the sun and obviously the fucking bullets I didn’t pay attention boss man. Just tried to not get shot again and more importantly, keep my woman safe. From the blood, I did a piss poor job of that don’t you think?”
Smoke didn’t think that at all, he honestly thought Bones did a damn good job. She had some glass in the side of her face but other than that she was good. He remembered when Peyton got shot, that was his worst day. It even topped his Pops blowing his brains all over the kitchen.
“Nah man, you did good. She’s a fucking trooper, look at her Bones. Your woman is tough as shit.” Bones had to stop and look. Wisha was holding a rag to the side of her head and ranting about the asshole that just shot at them, Smoke was right about her. His woman was one tough lady.
