A Spoonful of Magic

by Irene Radford

“I was so afraid of love that I couldn’t face it when I found it, Daffy. I have loved you for a very long time, even if it wasn’t love at first sight.”

“Thank you for that, G. But I still think we both need time alone, time to grow. Time to learn to talk to each other honestly, and love each other for real this time.”

  “What happens until then?”

“You continue to live elsewhere. But you can see the children any time you like or they want or need you. I will date Ted to see if he can offer what I really need in a man. You are free to date as well.”

  “Will that be enough?”

I had to smile. “Probably not. We’ll talk once we learn how. We might even date, like we should have the first time around. And we’ll find each other when magic stirs our hormones.” I kissed his cheek and went in search of a shower.

  Acknowledgments

Thanks much to Joyce Reynolds-Ward and Lou Ward for showing me the real Eugene, Oregon. To Jim Radford, an awesome big brother who took photos of ruined castles on the Rhine. And to Joyce, Sara, Lizzy, and Lea, my bestest friends forever and wonderful beta readers, for finding many of the problems in the book before I submitted it.

No book would be complete without thanking my agent Michael Kabongo and editor Sheila Gilbert, who made this happen.
