Outside he had stood stonily waiting for his car to be brought around as she had moved over to him, now feeling herself so angry also.

“What the hell was that about?” she had rounded on him, seeing as his jaw had clenched even tighter as he had ignored her, Sam feeling even angrier.

“Do not ignore me, dammit” she had cried louder, her eyes flashing as the car had smoothly drawn up beside them. He had finally turned to face her, his eyes blazing down as pulling the passenger door open he had bit out.

“Get in” Sam moving into the seat her whole being wanting to tell him to go to hell.

As he had slid into the driver’s seat, he had moved out into the traffic, neither of them speaking, both sitting furious and silent. As they had finally reached the parking garage, she had not waited until he had moved to open her door, but had got out herself, making towards the lift to their penthouse, furiously pressing the button as he had come alongside her where the two had made their way up to their home in silence. As the lift had opened, she had moved forward towards her room as his whiplash voice had stopped her in her tracks.

“What the hell did you think you were doing?”

Sam rounding on him, her eyes flashing greenly

“What the hell was I doing...............what were you doing more like”.

  Moving closer to him

“I cannot believe that you did that, that you embarrassed me in that way”.

He had looked at her in disbelief.

“Really............you don’t understand why I would be mad seeing you all cozy with some other man. You are my WIFE” he had cried. Sam placing her hands on her hips, her whole body rigid.

“Cozy with some other man??” she had cried back.

  “Joe is my boss........”.

Dante had moved even closer to her, his eyes angry daggers of accusations.

“He is a divorced man........and you were holding his hand”.

  Sam had glared back.

“I was comforting him over his divorce.......and I wish that you would remember that we will not be married very soon” she had thrown at him, seeing as he had scowled back at her.

“Not necessarily Sam” he had bitten out, as her look had faltered, her eyes narrowing.

“What does that mean.......we had an agreement?”

“Your father wants a son.......have you ever considered that we are having a daughter.......what then, puts paid to your nice little plan doesn’t it Cara?” his eyes flashing brightly.

“Then you are still tied to me......still my wife, and I do NOT like seeing my wife with another man”.

Sam had stumbled back, the thought that she was not carrying his son one which had never even crossed her mind. Glaring at him she had balled her hands by her side.

“He is my friend.......but if I wanted to see other people Dante then I would....there was nothing in our agreement against that” her eyes flashing triumphantly at him, seeing the shock on his face, feeling cheap at having said the words. Turning quickly she had started moving towards her room, sensing the shock from him as she had moved. Reaching out for her door knob, the first stabbing pain had slammed into her, stopping her dead in her tracks as she had gasped, her hand reaching out for the wall the other for her stomach.

Behind her she had heard Dante running to catch her, his voice no longer full of anger, as he had pulled her in to him, suddenly so full of concern.

“What’s wrong.......what happened?” he had cried in panic as she had panted for air the pain starting to subside slightly. Turning to look at him her eyes had been full of fear her arm grabbing his.

“Oh my God.......no” tears rising to her eyes as she had started to shake uncontrollably allowing him to move his arms around her as he had led her to the couch, pulling his phone from his pocket and barking commands into it, Sam hearing the fear in his voice too.

As she had sat, he had taken her hand his eyes suddenly so gentle, so full of concern.

“Its OK baby” he had cooed softly to her, seeing the terror in her features, feeling how hard she had trembled, her other hand almost subconsciously moving to stroke her small bump.

As the paramedics had appeared, the pain had once more returned this time not receding as she had groaned in abject fear, her eyes looking imploringly at his.

Before long the lift had once more opened, Sam placed onto a gurney as she had been taken down to the waiting ambulance, Dante clinging to her hand the whole time, his face pale as he had held her fingers to his mouth, gently kissing them the whole journey.

At the hospital Sam had been quickly changed and calm nurses had smiled encouragingly at her, their tones reassuring as she had undergone blood removal and blood pressure tests. The doctor had come in soon after examining her carefully before smiling at the husband and wife before him, seeing the two nervous faces.

“Well, all your tests are coming up well, and I cannot feel any real problems”.

Beside her she had heard Dante exhale loudly with relief, his hand squeezing hers comfortingly, Sam smiling at him.

“But just to be on the safe side I have scheduled you for a scan.......just to be doubly sure”.

Sam had looked nervously at the doctor.

“But the pain” she had murmured softly, as he had nodded softly.

“Yes it would seem that your little baby has decided to move against some of your nerves, and unfortunately we have to wait until it decides to move back”.

Sam had started to laugh softly.

“You’re telling me that this is because the baby is sitting on nerves” seeing as the doctor had smiled back at her.

“Well the scan will confirm it ........... but yes I think that that is what we are looking at”.

With a grin and a knowing look adding.

“There are of course natural things you can do to encourage the baby to move........but I will leave that to your imagination”.

She had then been taken down to have the scan, the technician laughing and joking with the pair as he had moved the tool over her belly. As the image had appeared on screen both pairs of eyes had looked at the small baby inside her. He had pointed out the hands and feet, but it had been unnecessary as they had both been able to clearly make out their child. Sam was shocked to see how it was affecting Dante, seeing the way his eyes had shone with what looked like tears, her hand moving to hold his, as he had looked back at her his expression one of wonder.

The technician had pointed out the strong beating heart, and they had all given a laugh as the baby had moved, its movements still not felt by Sam, who had smiled so widely, her look aimed at Dante who had held his breath with how beautiful she looked. After several moments the two had been given a black and white picture each of their baby, Sam seeing as he had looked at it for so long, a strange almost mournful look crossing his handsome features.

With final instructions from the doctor for Samantha to take more rest the couple had been allowed to leave, Dante having organised for a car to pick them up. As they had moved back into the apartment they had both been very different from earlier, both subdued still feeling so much from having seen their child. Dante had insisted that she go straight to bed informing her that he would bring her in tea, Sam chuckling at the thought of his “cooking” for her, touched at the way he had tucked her in as she had felt suddenly so tired. Feeling her eyes start to flutter closed she had smiled gently aware as he had moved forward dropping a small kiss on her forehead, wishing her a good sleep.

  Chapter Nine

Samantha had opened her eyes, the sunlight streaming into the room as she had groaned softly, knowing that she was very late for work. Sitting up in bed, she had been relieved not to feel any pain or discomfort as she had the previous day, shuddering remembering the fear that had filled her. Looking up she had been surprised as Dante had moved into the bedroom, having thought that he had gone to work already, her face showing the surprise as he had smiled down at her, his handsome face still full of concern.

“How are you feeling?” he had queried gently as she had smiled back.

“Good, seems our baby is being a pain even before being born”.

Dante grinning quickly as he had moved further into the room carrying a mug of tea which she had taken with relish

Sitting by the side of the bed, he had looked sadly at her.

  “I’m so sorry Sam”.

  His voice low surprising her

“I should never have yelled at you yesterday, I was way out of line”.

Sam had looked back at him.

“There is nothing going on between Joseph and I Dante.......there is nothing going on with anybody”.

She had seen as he had nodded softly.

  “I know”.

  Giving a frustrated sigh.

“I guess that seeing you smiling with another man, when you seem to hate being anywhere near me...........”.

Sam had shifted uneasily, taking a drink of her tea, not holding his eyes.

“It is just better this way” she had finally managed.

“Once our baby is born, and assuming we are having a son” she had added quickly.

“Then I will be moving back to Britain, back to my old life............this is just easier for everybody”.

He had groaned, a low wounded sound.

“I miss you Sam.......I miss us” he had whispered sensually his fingers removing the mug from her hands as he had moved closer to her, his hands moving to cup her face, Sam not moving as her body screamed at her to.

“I miss kissing you, holding you, being with you” his mouth moving closer to her with each word as she had groaned gently the fires once more rising strongly within her. For three months she had thought only of her baby, but now her sole thought was on the way her body ached for him, yearned to feel him touching her, her head angling up to encourage his kiss which when it came had seen the two explode in the other’s arms. Hers flying around his neck pulling him harder into her his moving around her waist pulling her gently into him, careful of her stomach now starting to show the small bump, his child, the thought sending a strange tremor through him.

His kiss had been devastating to her resistance as Sam had kissed him back, her hands pulling his head down harder as she had whispered softly against his mouth “love me Dante” her heart yearning for his love as much as her body. She had heard as he had sighed in return, his hands pulling her nightshirt from over her head, his eyes taking time to flit down her perfection, his hand moving to gently stroke her belly, the small swelling so obvious as she lay beneath him.

As she had opened her mouth to speak the sound had come out as a small whimper as he had moved to kiss her stomach, his mouth moving slowly up her body, his tongue flicking against one hardened nipple, his finger nipping the other, Sam groaning. She had not stopped him as he had continued to kiss up the long column of her neck, sucked in the lobe of her ear, whispering such soft words to her as she had clung to him. Wanting him with every fibre of her being, her hands pulling at his t-shirt, pausing as her fingers had finally touched his naked chest, Dante holding his breath as she had ran her fingers down his belly, the nails only a whisper against his skin as they sent shivers throughout him. Only Sam had ever had this effect on him and he had felt the intense pleasure as she had let her hand slide along his jeans, flicking the button free allowing her small hand to slide down into the now tightened trousers.

It had been so long, so long since they had made love, and with a low shaky moan he had pulled back from her standing to rid himself of the rest of his clothes, Samantha’s eyes trailing over his body, the need in her eyes spurring him on as he had lain beside her again. Pulling her closer he had kissed her feeling her tremble gently in his arms, her hand moving to encircle the hardness of him as he had given out a small masculine growl, his fingers moving between her legs.

Sam was on fire. Three months of holding back from the ever present desire for her husband had taken its toll, and now she had held him, wanting this so badly. She needed him, needed to feel him possess her, to feel his body against hers. As he had raised himself over her she had welcomed him, holding her breath with an expectancy feeling his hardness on her, confused as he had pulled back slightly, his voice hoarse and tremulous so full of the same need.

“I don’t want to hurt you Sam...or our baby”.

Her eyes had flown up to hold his, his choice of words sending strange sensations through every part of her. Wordlessly she had pushed him onto his back; straddling him feeling as his hands had moved to hold her hips as she gently lowered herself onto him, both of them shuddering as their bodies had fused together.

She had watched as his head had fallen back as she had controlled their love making his fingers digging deeper into her flesh as the two had lost themselves in the primal desires that filled them, Dante’s hips moving harder against her as she had pushed down faster and harder onto him. Feeling the heat from her belly rising her head had fallen back as she had cried out, her climax so wonderful, her head spinning with the intensity of it, not aware as she had cried out his name just as he too had found release.

The feel of her muscles clenching and trembling around him had been more than he could stand as with one final thrust into her small body, he had gripped her hips holding her down onto him as he had spilled so deeply within her, panting and crying out with her, both floating in a sea of pleasure.

As the sensations had receded, Sam had fallen against him, feeling as his arms had encircled her, holding her tightly against him. Rolling her onto her back, he had kissed her again, his touch so gentle, so caring before he had pulled her in against himself, holding her in his embrace.

As the two had lain panting trying to get their racing hearts stilled once more, he had moved his hand to gently stroke her hair seeing the shock and myriad of emotions crossing her lovely features.

“Sam” he had whispered softly, needing so badly to speak, to finally tell her how he felt.

Seeing as her eyes had sought his.

“Four years ago.......I missed you; I missed you more than I was ever prepared to admit. I missed you then and I’ve missed you for the past three months”.

He had seen as she had looked surprised, her luscious lips opening slightly to speak, as he had silenced her with a kiss.

“Four years ago.......I was so wrong. I wanted revenge.......wanted to hurt your father........but when you left I realised that I didn’t care about him anymore”.

To her surprise his eyes had held a sad sorrowful look.

“I really didn’t think you would leave.....and when you did ......I tried to forget you.........us.......but we had something good Sam......something really good, and I want that back. When I saw you at Kate’s wedding I knew what was missing in my life, I knew that I had to have you back. Your fathers offer was just an excuse to get you back into my life”.

He had seen as the tears had sprung into her eyes.

“Cara....I know that we can make this work, we can be a real family, you me and our baby”.

Sam had bitten her lip, her eyes showing such indecision the tears now streaming down her face. As he had held his breath with hope she had looked away, pain filling her before she had turned back to him those green eyes now colder as she had shaken her head fervently.

“No, I can’t believe you Dante. You have no idea what you did. I loved you and you used me, you destroyed me and left me to deal with...”.

As though she had said too much she had turned away.

“You aren’t interested in me Dante.....you want to control me, you want to have me in your bed ........but please do not lie to me, we both know what is expected here......let’s not make more of this”.

Groaning with pain he had gently pulled her head round to him.

“I know I hurt you Sam........and I want to make it up...........but sometimes I feel that you hate me”.

She had sniffed softly, her soulful eyes seeking his, a moment of silence before she had wh
ispered.

“I do hate you........I hate you so much”.

He had felt the hurt deep within him.

“I can make it up to you Sam..........I want to make it up”.

She had once more looked away.

“You can never make what happened right........never”.

“I admitted I met you to get to your father .......but it meant that I met you........and I am not sorry for that ...”.

  She had shaken her head.

“It has nothing to do with ........” stopping herself once more her mouth clamping shut.
