Hidden Truths

Geoff supported Branch by wrapping his own arms around the Sheriff's back. He had to smile at the man taking charge. "So, you're a power bottom?" he whispered in his ear, as Branch continued to shove his hips up and down Geoff's cock. He laughed at the grunt he got in reply and then dipped him back down to the bed. He held Branch's arms above his head and thrust hard and deep. "It's my turn," he teased.

Branch's back arched up off the bed, and he threw his head back against the pillow. He cried out as Geoff shoved in again, the feeling of the man sliding against his own hardened cock adding even more pleasure. He tried to call his lover's name, but it only came out as a strangled whine caught in his throat.

Geoff knew he couldn't hold back much longer. He'd been pretty much finished by the time they started, but he wanted to see his lover's face strained with pleasure. He enjoyed a variety of different sexual positions and escapades, but he'd rarely found anyone willing to experiment or who was willing to switch. He knew he'd found something special in Branch Fouche, for many different reasons.

Slick sweat beaded on his forehead, his wavy, wild hair, falling in clumps around his face. The muscles in his arms were beginning to shake, as he held himself up from Branch's injured chest. He let go of his lover's arms, not wanting to leave bruises from his powerful hands and dug his fingers into the sheet.

"Shit, Branch," he hissed. He hung his head and buried himself deep into his lover, his release shooting from him as his muscles tightened. He stayed there, only shoving deep in small, hard motions. He felt like apologizing, but it didn't look like Branch was minding the abrupt end. He watched as the smaller man squirmed beneath him, his own hips thrusting hard. He'd grabbed the headboard and was yanking himself up and down. When he stopped and opened his eyes again, Geoff gave him a cheeky smile.

"Well, that was a wild ride," he quipped, breathlessly.

Branch laughed, almost choking as he did so, and then sighed as he felt Geoff pull out. The big man rolled over beside him and then the two of them turned on their sides, their faces close together and their legs entwined. There were so many things they both wanted to talk about, but in the end, they simply fell asleep.

A couple of hours later, Geoff woke to a completely darkened sky and an empty bed. He rolled out and stood, stretching his long legs and arms. Branch wasn't in the bedroom, but his clothes were still there. Geoff snorted, too modest to follow suit, so he pulled his shorts back on. In the living room, he found Branch in his armchair, petting an excited Buddy.

"Remind me never to sit there," he quipped.

His lover smiled up at him and then whipped a hand over to display his nether regions. It looked like a move a game show hostess might make and Geoff laughed as he saw that Branch had simply put on a clean pair of underwear. They were boxers with bass all over them.

"I thought no one went fishing in the lake," Geoff pointed out.

"It was swimming. No one goes swimming in the lake. Besides, if the lake freaks you out, there are plenty of streams we could visit. Lack of tourism has kept plenty of fish in them."

"Who said I wanted to go fishing?" When Branch only gave him a look of hurt and disbelief, he smiled and waved it away. “Speaking of, what was that thing that bit my diver in the lake?”

Branch held up his hands in ignorance. “I don’t know, I’ve never seen it. Like I said, though, there’s a reason…”

“…no one goes swimming in the lake.” Geoff nodded in exasperation. "Fine, but there is one mystery I’m still wondering about."

"Oh lord," Branch said with a sigh.

"No, hear me out. The day my agents and I searched the woods around town, I saw a little girl running through the trees. Neither one of them saw her, though, just me. I ran after her but lost her. I've never seen her since."

Branch gave him a wistful nod. "Were you at Annie's house?"

Geoff was taken aback and only stared at him for a moment. "Um, yeah, we had been a little earlier," he admitted.

Branch nodded again and went into the kitchen. He made them both fresh cups of coffee and then handed one to Geoff, who'd followed him in. He took a sip and said, "It's been known to happen."

Geoff scoffed into his cup. "What kind of explanation is that?" he demanded.

"I told you, things happen in and around Grand Arbré. You just have to get used to it."

"But who is she? How long have people been spotting her?"

  "About forty years."

Geoff choked, almost dropping his cup. He sputtered and coughed for a minute before repeating, "Forty years?"

"Did you see the cradle in Annie's yard?" Branch asked.

"Yeah, but she said she never had any children."

Branch set his cup down. "She didn't, but it's common knowledge around town that she had been pregnant once. No one really talked about it because she wasn't married and no one knew who the father might be."

  "So...she lost the baby?"

Branch nodded again. "Not long after, she had the cradle made as a sort of remembrance, though she'll never admit to having been pregnant and no one's ever pushed the matter."

"And that's when people started seeing this little girl?"

  "Yep."

Geoff shook his head and looked away. "That's not...possible. You're saying she's not real?"

"Yep. You've seen an apparition, Geoff. It's Grand Arbré. You're just going to have to learn to live with it." He said it in a teasing tone, but he could tell the idea still bugged the man. They were quiet for a moment, but then Branch hesitantly said, "You know, there's another mystery I'd like to solve."

This got Geoff's attention. He turned back to Branch. "Which one?"

"This," Branch answered, gesturing at the two of them. "What are we going to do about us?"

Geoff leaned back against the kitchen counter. "Well, I suppose Sacramento isn't that far away. I have a fairly regular job, when I'm not in places like this, investigating the supernatural. And, I suppose," he emphasized, "that Grand Arbré is a nice little town, pretty, if not a little strange." He waited for Branch to snort and then added, "I could come up on the weekends. You could teach me how to fish."

"Teach you?" Branch scoffed. "You mean, you've never been fishing?"

"Nope," Geoff replied with a smile and a shake of the head. "Then again, I suppose you could come down and visit me in the city."

"Oh no," Branch said, taking a sip of his coffee. "You think it's weird around here..."

Geoff laughed and slapped him on the back, and before long, Branch was joining him.
