My Soul to Win

  “Oh, shit.”

“So, of course, none of the big firms used it.”

  “But new firms sprouted.”

“Yep. And with about five million programmers contributing…”

  “They kicked asses.”

  “Totally.”

I laughed. “That works.” I turned to the demon. “Evaline, I have a passport. Alathea says it’s a real passport. It has my real birthday on it. I also have my social security card and a birth certificate. But I don’t know what happens if I try to use any of them. Can you imagine getting on a plane with ID that says I’m my real age while wearing this body? Besides, I’m supposed to be dead. I don’t want to answer questions about where I’ve been.”

“I’ll do some inquiries,” she said. “I’m surprised she could do that, but didn’t simply give you a new identity. Somehow.”

“That would have been lying, and she’s the Goddess of Truth.”

Sue Ellen laughed. “And yet, you can lie about jumping on my bed?”

“I thought about jumping on your bed. Maybe that was enough.”

  “Right.”

“So,” Evaline said. “The point is this: we’re not going to worry about money. If and when you want to pursue a career, we’re happy to discuss options.”

“I can’t sit around the house all day.”

“You have a lot of catching up,” she replied. “And then you’re going to get fat.”

I thought about it. “I suppose there’s nothing I can do.”

“Maybe settle in for a few days first?”

  At that, I nodded.

  * * * *

After dinner, we descended to the game room. Sue Ellen was a shark at air hockey, although I noticed Evaline didn’t try to play. While Sue Ellen was beating Marley for another game, I stepped up to Evaline’s side, and she wrapped her arm around me. “Demon reaction times?”

“Yep. I play other games, though, the ones that don’t give me a natural advantage.”

  “Are you happy, Evaline?”

“You were the only thing missing,” she said. “I took a pragmatic approach to that.”

“Missed me, but as long as I was in Heaven, you could make a life work here?”

  “Yes. Please don’t hate me.”

“I don’t,” I said. “It was the right approach. I wasn’t the only one who spent time in Hell.”

“Tienbellart didn’t abuse me. Teigan, I should have done a better job protecting you.”

“Yes, you should have,” I said. “But I don’t believe you engineered or foresaw events. So we’re going to chalk it up to a mistake. We all make them. I was careful a year ago, because I didn’t want this to be too encompassing. But I forgive you for any mistakes you’ve made that have cost me. If you feel a need to talk about it, you need to get it out of your system, because I really want to look forward. I’m sure from time-to-time I’ll talk about my time with Theophania. But everything that happened after she took me from you is her fault, not yours.”

“I’ll probably feel guilty for a long time.”

  “Is guilt a demonic emotion?”

  “Not normally.”

“Then maybe you’re turning increasingly human,” I replied. “When I need you, it’s not about anything you did to hurt me. It’s about Theophania and about me. So you work through your guilt, because I’m going to need you, and I need to feel free to be selfish for a while.”

She smiled. “Be as selfish as you want.”

Later, four of us ascended the stairs together. At the top, Sue Ellen turned to me and pulled me into a tight hug. But then she whispered, “Oops,” and relaxed.

“Seriously,” I told her. “I’m two days pregnant. Stop acting like I’ll break from a hug.”

“I’m glad you’re home, Teigan,” she said. “Please, say it for me.”

  “Say what?”

  “Say you’re home.”

I thought about it, kissed her cheek, and said, “It’s good to be home.” We separated, but only enough to look into each other’s eyes. “I don’t know if I’m your third mom or your big sister.”

“Third Mom,” Marley said at the same time Sue Ellen said, “Big sister.”

“No way,” she added. “I already have two moms.”

“It seemed to me,” Evaline said, “That it was your idea. You’re the one who said you were the big sister to the twins. You can’t be a big sister to your big sister’s kids. That would make you their aunt. So, deep down, you already knew the score.”

“You’re going to throw that at me?”

“Third mom it is,” I said with a grin.

“Fine, fine,” she said. “But between us, one of us has a driver’s license, and one of us doesn’t.”

“So she does,” I admitted. “It’s good to be home, Sue Ellen. Thank you for helping me feel welcome.”

She smiled, and then she bounced away to her room. Evaline took my arm, and I let her and Marley lead us to the master bedroom. Inside, we all looked at each other a little awkwardly. “I want to ask something,” I said.

  “Sure.”

I gestured to the bed, and then to each of us. “Are you both sure this is what you both want?”

“Why are you asking?” Marley asked.

“Because if it’s what everyone wants, why am I still wearing any clothes? But if you guys are feeling awkward about it, I could sleep in the guest room.”

“Well, you know the demon will take anyone to bed who looks remotely willing,” Marley said. “So this is really about me.” Then she took two steps forward and began unbuttoning my blouse. Evaline stepped behind me, just acting as an unnecessary wall, but I pressed against her for the comfort.

Marley finished the buttons, gazing at the exposed skin for a moment before lifting her eyes to mine. “Is this what you want, Teigan?”

“No. Why are you still wearing clothes?”

She smiled. “Can you answer me seriously?”

“It won’t be the same,” I said. “I’m not the same. I don’t know if I’m ever going to want… half of what we used to do.”

“Our old sex was fabulous,” she said. “But it was never about hedonistic pleasure.” She took a half step closer and lifted a hand. She traced lines on my skin, pushing the blouse open a little more widely to do so. “Tell me what you want, Teigan.”

“I want to be selfish,” I said. “And I want to be held. And…”

“And?” She moved even closer. “Do you want to watch?”

  “Yeah,” I said.

“There’s something I didn't do earlier, and I’ve been kicking myself for hours.”

  “What?”

“This.” She set a hand on the back of my head and pulled me in for a kiss. Her free hand found my breast, still in a bra.

I wrapped my arms around her, but then behind me, Evaline pulled them back to draw the blouse from me. I cooperated until she got the bra off me, and then I went back to wrapping my arms around Marley’s neck.

She could still kiss. Oh, it hadn’t been 26 years, as we’d shared a bed with Grace. But it had been a year, and even then, this was different.

“Don’t stop, Marley,” Evaline said. And then she wrapped her arms around me and went to work on Marley’s clothing.

Marley and I kissed, and kissed, and kissed. I stopped thinking about more than how much I loved her.

Evaline had to move around some, but she got us both entirely naked while not removing a stitch of her own clothing. But then she whispered, “Help me get her to bed, Marley.”

While still kissing me, Marley got us moving. I let them push, pull, and prod me to the bed, sitting up, partly under the covers. And then Marley pulled away. She was flushed, and I was panting. “What do you want first, Teigan?”

“I want to watch,” I said.

“Okay.” She gave me another kiss, a quick kiss, and then she turned to Evaline.

The two of them together were so hot, so hot! Evaline let Marl
ey undress her, and she was every bit as stunning as she’d always been. The two kissed, and from time to time, they gave me some attention, too.

Then Evaline took some of the pillows and made a nest for Marley, lying crosswise along the foot of the bed. And then, as I watched, she made long, slow, and very, very thorough love as Marley writhed and moaned and called out her name. She clutched the bedding and gave out a gentle wail as she came, the shudders shaking the entire bed.

Evaline paused, then she collected Marley in her arms and pulled her up so she was cuddling with me. Evaline made adjustments, and then we made a little sandwich, with Marley on her side facing me, her head on my shoulder.

I kissed her forehead. “That was so hot,” I whispered.

“I want you so much,” Marley whispered back. “Teigan, in this bed, we lay our claims. But it’s not like…”

“I know it’s not,” I said. “Claim me, Marley. Both of you.”

She smiled broadly, and a little predatorily before lowering her lips to my nearest breast.

I gave a little gasp before closing my eyes. Evaline shifted, and then I was receiving attention from both of them.

From watching the two of them, I was already pretty worked up. They got me a lot worked up, and then Evaline crawled her way up my body, her hand teasing my sex. “I know what I want us to do to you, Teigan, but maybe it’s something you never want again.”

  “What?” I whispered.

“A very, very long tongue, right…” She slipped two fingers inside me. “There.” Then she moved for a minute, and I began panting.

“Yes,” I said finally. I opened my eyes. “I’m not letting bad things from the past make these decisions. I love both of you. I love all sides of you.” I shifted my gaze. “You’re stunning either way.”

Evaline smiled, and then she shimmered, and I was looking at her demon form. “Are you sure?”

  “Yes.”

She kissed her way down my body. Then, with Marley whispering in my ear, nibbling at my ear, Evaline found me.

“Yes!” I screamed, several minutes later. “Yes! Yes!”

  * * * *

It was sex. Mind-blowing sex. And being able to enjoy that meant a lot to me.

But it wasn't just sex. It was also love, and acceptance. I knew, beyond any doubt, they both loved me, and I loved them.

And that was the source of real magic.
